Cast of Characters: Rogue, Molly Carpenter, Jessica Jones

Rogue has posed:
Sure its fall now, but its still in the mid 80s in temperature here in the city and though its starting to get a little later in the afternoon, there's that high of traffic at that time. Its still tourist season and its still nice outside so there's a lot of people in the park here today, even though this NYU's 'campus' its still open to the public and gets a lot of foot traffick.

Rogue is here too! She's seated at a table by herself with some books laying on it, her leather messenger bag and leashed to her chair is a German Shepherd, he looks like he's about 1 or 2 years old, still real young. He's laying down on the ground and is just watching people as they walk by, seems to be a real well behaved pup.

Rogue is sitting in the chair beside her dog and she's thumbing a tablet computer that she has in her lap. She's doing some idle research for her classes that are in full swing now that school is itself back in major business for the fall semester. She's got a dark red tshirt on with some local band art on the chest, a pair of blue jeans and a forest green scarf around her neck, some black long gloces up to her elbows to keep herself that much safer from harming people accidently.

She's pretty easy to spot though because of her white streaks of hair framing her face, kind of makes her stand out in crowds.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
With all the oddities that had happened in New York lately it was far more interesting to be here than in Gotham or Bludhaven. Molly had been walking the campus for awhile now seeking out the individual she was wanting to check up on, but not having a phone it did make catching up hard. Thankfully most were quite willing to point her in the right direction of the woman fitting her description that she knew was taking classes here. A little flatfoot work never hurt, especially for a PI in training who also happens to be a wizard.

Molly approaches the table that Rogue occupies with the pup by her side wearing a smile of relief at seeing her all right. Lightly she clears her throat to announce her presence rather than just sneak up as she sometimes tended to do. Her own attire today was casual jeans, with a few rips in the right places to make it look 'punk' and a body hugging t-shirt that had lovingly seen better days, and a favored pair of sneakers.

"Hey, Rogue," she greets. "I was hoping to catch up with you. You been doing all right?" A glance is cast toward the German Shepard and she awws appropriately. Dogs were always a soft spot. Cats too. Heck pets in general.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue looks up from her tablet computer and she spots the familiar face and it makes her summon up a quick smole. "Oh hey." She says. "Molly, right?" She asks then. "That friend'a the Doctor's. How ya doin?"

The dog uses his forepaws to push himself up into a seated position now that Molly has approached and is talking to its owner, its panting because its 80-something outside and thats just want dogs do but it seems very interested in the new arrival and is watching her closely, while giving occasional glances back at Rogue.

The teenaged Avenger offers a hand motion to the chair at her table that is still open and free, a dark metal thing, doesn't look too comfortable... then again if the park supplied itself with overly comfortable chairs then people would probably run off with them! "Have a seat. Want a drink?" She starts fishing around in her leather bag for another water bottle and waggles it Molly then with a grin.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter gives a nod at Rogue's rememberance of her name. A hand lifts to sweep her blonde hair back behind an ear with another grin. "Yeah, that's me. I haven't seen the Doc around in awhile and with everything doing a weird disappearing act in the city, I thought I'd check up on who I could. I'm glad to see you're doing all right."

The offered chair is taken with a nod of thanks, though the dog's attention doesn't go unnoticed. Lowering a hand she holds it out toward him allowing him to do a sniff of her to prove she wasn't smuggling sausages or anything. Wait. Maybe she *was*. Her free hand swings her purse forward a bit as she rummages inside. "I've got some beef jerky if you'd like," she offers. "Or if your dog might like," she adds with a knowing grin. "I keep some on me a lot for Mouse. My partner's dog," she explains even as she lays the ziplock bag of jerky on the table between them. "But it's actually really good jerky. My dad makes it." The bottle of water is taken now that her hand is free, and she grins again.

"Though with this heat I am not turning down a drink."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue sits back after the bottle is accepted and she places her hands down on the arms of the metal chair. She just grins and shakes her head slightly as the dog jumps up to its feet and sniffs at Molly's hand. "Ya're gonna spoil him if ya treat him with home made beef jerky. I seen a guy here a few months ago selling bags'a that stuff for like twenty dollars a pop. And they were flyin' outta his boxes. The tourists walk around snappin pics'n such, workin' up ravenous appetites. Like Ace here." She grins then. "Translation? He'd love some. Me too really." The southern girl laughs softly and then just shakes her head.

"Ya heard about the disappearing landmarks?" She asks then, tilting her head. "I lost my whole home. Thank god I had Ace with me here at the park, or he would'a gone with it, wherever it is now..." She sighs again. "I should go bother Strange about it, but I Figure he's already on the case, if he even cares. And I don't wanna get in the way. I just... wait t'get called and asked t'help with stuff. Otherwise I try'n keep my head down."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter opens the bottle with a twist of the cap, and tips it back for a quick gulp or two to help wet her throat. "Nothing wrong with spoiling a good dog now and then," she reasons with a grin. The bottle is placed down so she's free to open the ziplock bag and pull a peice out that she breaks in half. Half goes in her mouth, the other half is offered to the eager Ace. "Help yourself."

Ace gets a good head ruffle with her free hand, but then she purses her lips with the smallest of frowns as she listens to Rogue. It's the mention of Strange that causes her eyes to flick up to the redhead across from her though. "He's gone missing. I've checked the sanctum plenty of times, and he hasn't been around. I thought I should do my own investigation of what's going on much as I can. I'm no sorcerer supreme."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue indulges in a bit of the jerky herself, she's from the south, she doesn't shy away from food like that. "S'good." She says then before taking a sip from her own half emptied water bottle. "Your dad's got skills." She shows a grin then. She glances to Ace, who's sitting back down then laying down with his now claimed food, he has it gone in about a split second though and is now hoping for more. "Siiiiit." Rogue encourages the dog, who looks at her, wags his tail but eventually complies and sets his butt down on the pavement.

"He's missin'?" She asks then to Molly, sigh heavily and shaking her head. Her right hand goes up to stroke her white bangs out of her face from the warm breezes rolling through the park. "That guy... gets himself inta more trouble, than any one person has the right to, I swear it. One time, I was in his place and I started lookin' around for him, found him stuck in an alternate dimension of fire and fire monsters. I had t'help drag him back outta it. Its that kinda stuff that was like... this ain't a healthy livin' enviroment for me." She smiles a little. "I had t'get out... I'm sure he's fine though, if anyone is fine, its him. He's... so smart, and capable."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter tilts her head to the side considering the thought of Strange being smart and capable. "Maybe so, but speaking from my own experience with wizards? Half the time it's BS and dumb luck. At least with Harry," she has to admit. "A lot of dumb luck. Not to say he isn't smart, sometimes..." She trails off thinking of all his foibles with a small hum. "Sometimes. Usually though it's his friends and stubborn determination that help him out of tight spots." A light shake of her head comes as she takes another sip of the water. "Mm. Well either way in the meantime until he shows up again I intend to do what I can to make sure things don't go tits up magically speaking in New York. We've got enough wizards in Bludhven and Gotham that my presence is hardly going to be missed. Maybe I can do some good here in the meantime."

Glancing across the table toward Rogue though she smiles again. "I could use some help though. I don't know this city half as well as someone who's been here awhile... and to be honest, when it comes to fighting, I'm not really packing a lot of 'oomph.'"

Rogue has posed:
This gets a slow nod from Rogue, the part about Strange that she first comments on. "Could be." She quietly says back at it too. "I still owe'im my life. He saved it, when I was in a bad place and needed help. He came outta no where and literally, saved me from death. So I owe'im." She lets that settle for a second before she strikes up a grin. "Even if more'n half the stuff he says and talks about, I don't have the foggiest idea what he's referin' too."

After she takes another sip of her water she nods her head and recaps the plastic bottle. "I'd be happy t'help ya with navigatin' the city or whatever. I've come t'learn it pretty darn fast in the year or so I've been bummin' around the joint. But, bein' able t'fly helps ya do that, I think. Gettin' that sweet Birds-Eye view'a things." She grins more openly toward the other. "I'm terrible at magic however. Most Strange ever got outta me was me making some little magic light sphere things. I... haven't done it in ages though, probably can't even come close no more."

She glances down to Ace then who's looking between the two of them and wagging his tail happily.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter regards Rogue with a soft, knowing expression. "Yeah. I get what you mean. If someone saves your neck you just... That never goes away. Harry did that for me when I was younger, when I started getting my powers and... kind of screwed the pooch on using them. I'd be dead if not for him."

"Hey that's better than me. Most of my stuff requires a lot of prep time to get going. I've got a lot of pre-made spells ready to snap into action on quick notice though," she adds as her hand lifts to show off some of her tattoos. "I'm not saying go after any of the big bads, anyway. Just help keep the city running smooth for awhile until he comes back. You'd be surprised how often it's the small stuff that makes the most difference if it starts to go haywire."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue gently nods her head to this from her. "You're way better than I am at it, I got doubt about taht." She flashes another grin, eyes the tatts for a second too. "I can't even get those even if I wanted some... which... I don't know, maybe thats a good thing. Odds are high that I'd get a little tipsy some night and wake up a tatoo that I'd absolutely regret later." She sighs dramatically. "I'm just that kinda impulsive doofus. But yeah... the needles don't work on my skin. Its -possible- that I tried once." She grins just a little mischievously then.

"So whats this Harry guy's deal anyway?" She just bluntly asks. "He's cute... what, thirty? Thirty five years old? I mean, thats not too old. Kinda old. But kinda old is kinda hot too." Now she's just teasing all around, but thats the southern belle's style. "I used t'get get asked by others if I was 'with' Strange. I'm sure you get the same kinda crap with Harold too, yeah?"

Molly Carpenter has posed:
"No tattoos? That would suck... but I guess there's a trade off for not being stabbed, too," Molly reasons with a grin. Leaning back in her chair a bit she lifts the bottle of water again. She's mid-sip when the topic changes to Harry's looks. A little cough comes the water starts to go down just a bit wrong. "Uh, wha? Harry's not... Okay he is..." Her expression goes through several iterations of emotions before settling on leaning her face down in a hand with a sigh. "Uh, we kind of are together," she mumbles quietly spreading her fingers to peek through at Rogue.

"He's an old friend of my dad's. I've known him since forever. And had a crush on him forever too," she admits sheepishly. "Oh man I did some stupid stuff when I was a kid. He took me in as his apprentice though after saving my neck, and we've sort of... I don't know. Grown into each other? I'm not the dumb kid I was before, and he's only twenty eight so it's not such a huge age difference. Kind of a new thing between us to be honest. And my parents are veeeery upset."

Rogue has posed:
"Yeah, shotgun resistance is a nice trade off to tatoos, I guess." Rogue replies with a soft grin, but that grin gets a lot larger when Molly indicates a relationship with Harry, why? Cause stuff like that just entertains the girl with the two-toned hair. "Right on, right on." She replies to it initially, like a Mathew McConaughey impersonation. Her silly grin does fade though as Molly indicates the more serious elements of their relationship. "You're, what, twenty one?" She asks, tilting her head slightly to the side after asking that question.

She shakes her head side to side. "Your parents'll come around t'it after awhile. Once they realize that he means a lot to you, and vice versa. Thats all they likely ultimately want for ya, t'find someone like that. They just gotta get past the weirdness of it bein' someone they brought inta the picture." She flashes another grin then and takes another swig of her water.

"If ya'll are havin' fun together, thats all that matters really." A couple quick nods of her head then punctuate those words. "Not me though, not me and Strange anyhow. I'm too young t'be hitched up!" She raises her hands up in the air then. "I gotta try on a buncha models before I start pickin' any long term ones." Now she's just showboating and being a goof! Big smile and all.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter sits across from Rogue at a table. There's a bottle of water held idly in one hand, while the other snakes forward to take another peice of jerky from a ziplock bag she'd set down awhile ago. "Oh dad is likely to get over it first, he really likes Harry. Mom though." There's a shiver there. "It's complicated between us." The jerky is chomped down on as she watches Rogue's theatrics with a growing grin.

"There's nothing wrong with that. Honestly I was about to ask someone out before this thing between us happened. I figured I wasn't going to wait forever for him. He's slow at times." A chuckle escapes her, and she jabs the bit of jerky in Rogue's direction. "Anyone you're sweet on lately? Since you know my little secret."

Jessica Jones has posed:
Dressed in what for her is uniform because she can't be bothered to shop for clothes, so leather jacket, grey hoodie, black tanktop, roughed up skinny jeans, black fingerless gloves, and black boots make one Jessica Jones. Why? Because she hates shopping. Ain't nobody got time for that when you're a P.I. Or rather, P.I. with PTSD. Life's a bitch, what you gonna do? So what brings Jessica to NYU campus? As always, a case.

She walks about as any of the students, only exception, the surreptious pictures she snaps on occasions with her smartphone. Any visible target? Hard to say, she's sneaky like that, this P.I. lady.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue softly nods to the relationship woes regarding Molly's parents. "I guess there are benefits to havin' no parents after all. Or at least, less headaches?" She shows a quick smile then. "She'll come around too, if ya'll last. You're still young as can be though, ain't no reason for you t'settle this early in life either, unless he really is just 'that' perfect of a guy. In which case, shutup I'm jealous." She shows a large grin then. "Are you still stayin' at the Sanctum? I'm gonna hve t'go back by there, if Strange isn't around, I'll have t'bother Wong... see if i can't help figure out whats up."

Jessica is noted out of the corner of her vision, it draws Rogue's eyes over to the P.I. She remembered her from the ice giant fight. She'd been brought up in the aftermath of that on the news, Jones or something was her name.

Rogue looks back to Molly then. "And if all else fails we can hire a P.I. t'find him." She grins then to her friend.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter nods a single time at mention of the sanctum. "I've got a room there that's kind of interesting. I did spend the night after looking around for him. No portals to weird places so far," she adds with a little grin of amusement. Never knew what you'd find in Strange's place. "I don't know that he's perfect... A perfect dork perhaps... but it's endearing."

The motions of the other P.I. earn a sideways slide of her eyes in her direction. Moreso when it seems Rogue catches sight of her, too. "We could," she agrees grinning. "I know a few. Still waiting on my license though," she admits sheepishly. She'd been a bit busy with helping Strange on that flute, and then apartment hunting. Oops. "Friend of yours?" She asks with a tip of her head toward Jessica's general direction.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Just so happens that Jessica is heading in the direction of Rogue and Molly when she hears the mentioning of hiring a P.I. brought up, "a P.I. can sure help with lots of things, but why would you need a P.I.?" Jessica asks curiously, looking from Rogue to Molly, before asking, "any of you seen Jake Stevens? He's a student here...I know it's a long shot..." she laughs at her own silly question.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue centers her gaze on Molly again. "You're studying t'become a private eye?" She asks then, sounding surprised by this. "Magic and mayhem is your destiny, lady." She flashes the slightly older girl a grin then before Jessica strides up, having overheard them. "Oh uh..." Rogue hadn't had a chance to respond about being friends with JJ, which they'd never actually even spoken.

"Sorry, yeah, I saw you in the news the other day. I was at that Ice Giant thing that happened a few weeks back. I'm with the Avengers." She shows Jess a smile then and offers her a gloved hand, gloves in 85 degree weather? Then again, Jess has a leather jacket and a hoodie on...

"Jake St3evens?" She asks then. "I haven't seen him in several days. He's usually hangin' around the Skirball, tryin' t'flirt with the theater chicks. And failin' miserably." She grins big then.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter spreads her hands a bit helplessly. "I'm an apprentice wizard, yeah, but Harry's also a P.I. I've been working as his partner for years now." Of course an unofficial partner in the business. "Though to be fair business is slow in Gotham." Yep.

When Jessica approaches she twists toward the woman letting her arms drape over one another on the tabletop. Smiling she shakes her head. "Not me, sorry. I don't actually go here. Just catching up with some friends in the city. If you've got anything of his though," she starts, hesitating a moment with a sidelong look at Rogue. "I could point you in his direction."

Jessica Jones has posed:
"You're an Avenger? Damn, they accept much younger people these days, don't they? You did well with those Ice Giants, sorry it's a little out of my league," Jessica says with a playful grin. Truth be told, she'd be fine and well to never see those Ice Giants again. They were pretty scary. "Trying to flirt and failing misreably sounds about right," Jessica notes, shaking hands with Rogue, her own hands gloved, albeit fingerless. Maybe Remy would dig her? Nah, he actually can't decide between fingerless or not.

"Wait...," she gasps at Molly's tidbit, "you want to tell me I know have wizard P.I.s as competition? Fan-fucking-tastic! I knew today would suck!" She looks suspiciously at Molly when she suggests pointing her in Jake's direction, "using magic?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just nods her head to Jessica's response, then flashes her a big smile. "Well... I'mma bit of'a special case, cause'a how the abilities I have work and what they've given me in-turn t'work with." Her southern accent is thick and easily placed by people who know American regional dialects, but still most people get it wrong when they try to guess where she's from.

Rogue looks between the two of them then and she grins. "No reason t'be concerned, I'm sure. With as many wild things as there are goin' on around the city, I doubt ya'll will have t'fight over jobs too much." Rogue then pulls her phone out of her jacket. "I used t'have Jake's number, but that phone got smashed. I know someone who does though, I can text'em t'get it from them... Or yeah, Molly... she probably knows a more entertainin' way'a findin' him. Jake the Snake... though I refuse t'call'im that since its a self-given nickname, and not a very creative one at that."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter can't help but chuckle at Jessica's reaction with a little helpless shrug offered in return. "We're located in Gotham and Bludhaven, so you're safe for local stuff, trust me. Usually we get dragged into the metaphysical stuff." Her hands spread slightly in front of her though at mention of magic. "That's the idea. There's no harm in helping out a fellow P.I., plus missing persons is pretty much the easiest thing for us to do. You'd think we'd get more requests for it but usually people want stupid stuff since, you know, the magic."

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Ooookay, I take it you're extra special?" Jessica asks Rogue, in the world she inhabits, the claim doesn't even seem far fetched. Heck, she seen Rogue fighting with the Avengers. She obviously wasn't lying. "Look," Jessica explains to Rogue, "I have one agency fighting me by advertising they're the 'PI Without Profanity' which is already insulting....but magic? Don't think I can fucking fight with that, I mean, who do you wanna go to? Jessica Fucking Jones who will do the work and solve your case the old fashioned way in a couple of weeks or so...or Mr. Magical PI, who will conjure the solution out of his ass in seconds?" She shakes her head, the news of a magical PI made her quite upset.

Bitter or not, Jessica is ever on the job, 'Jake the Snake' quickly added to the case file on her phone. "I'll do it the old fashioned way, thanks for the offer of help, I'll freak out if I'll take magical aid...no offense."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue looks from Jessica over to Molly and then back to Jessica. She's amused by these two being in the potential same profession, even though she knows this probably is pretty serious for Jessica, she doesn't KNOW the woman herself, or her situation. Softly though, Rogue nods her head once to Jess' words about her. "I'd demonstrate some examples'a what sets me apart from the average... but, I don't wanna get a reputation as some kinda arrogant git, ya know?" She softly laughs again.

Rogue's dog sits up then and he sticks his snout out toward Jess to sniff at the air in front of her. He's a young German Shepherd, maybe 1 or 2 years old. Rogue pats him on the top of his head between his tall pointy ears.

"Maybe the magic private eyes, will deal with all the magic cases and leave ya the more normal ones?" Rogue asks, looking at both of them she's addressing now. "I mean, I heard about some monsters livin' down in the subway system. Ghosts'n shit. Maybe the Wizards are more suited toward cases like that?" She shrugs her shoulders then. "What do I know though, I just punch things t'solve all my problems."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
"It's really not as easy as it sounds with magic. We can't just snap our fingers and that's it, and we do actually do a lot of actual detective work. There's rules to what we can and can't do... But don't worry," she adds with a chuckle. "My boss kind of made an ass of himself on a talk show several years back and now everyone thinks he's a whackjob. Plus he advertises himself as a wizard. Lots of people still don't believe." She shrugs again faintly. "Anyway, work isn't all that great for us usually and we've been around for years, so I think you're safe if you haven't had an issue with us before. I'm not here on work anyway. Just visiting." And covering for Strange's absence, much as she could.

Rogue's remark earns a nod and thankful smile. "That's usually what we get pulled into. Or members of the magical community reach out to us. Honestly I can't recall the last time we had a 'normal' case. I think it was some guy cheating on his wife or something."

Jessica Jones has posed:
"You're good people, Rogue," Jessica notes with a smile as Rogue doesn't go about showboating, "not showing yours is a pretty good sign of having good character, at least from my experience."

Jessica holds up her hand when Rogue suggests supernatural elements in the NY subway system, "first of all assholes and creeps aren't magical, but if there are ogres or whatever Harry Potter shit hiding in there? I'm perfectly happy letting P.I. Gandalf look into that one."

"Well," Jessica grins as Molly intentionally or uninternetionally makes her feel better, "glad you're boss is an ass of a marketing guy."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue gives a nod to Molly about the trends that she and Harry investigate. "When I first saw you and your partner on the Doctor's doorstep, I thought it was pretty odd because he... Stephen that is... is pretty adamantly against having people knock on his door, in fact I sometimes think he's got some kinda protection up t'make sure it doesn't happen unless he wants it too..." She grins lightly.

Jessica gets a look then and Rogue snickers, gives a shake of her head and then sits back in her chair. "Couple years ago, I wasn't even able t'not show off what I can do. Hell, one time in Cali I was gettin' on an elevator and some one shouted at me t'hold 'HOLD THE DOOR' outside'a it, I quickly tried t'grab the door and ended up bending the damn thing outward. Soooo yeah, that elevator was outta service for awhile, I imagine."

Her water is sipped from again and then she picks up a lid from her lunch on the table and pours some water into it that she sets down next to Ace. He immediately starts to slosh it around and drink it up.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"If you'll excuse me guys, I need to look into 'Jake The Snake'," Jessica blurts after getting a text message. Whether it actually has to do with this case or not, remains a mystery, as she jets towards the nearest subway station.

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter watches Jessica head off in a flash only to shake her head a bit. "At least I got her feeling a bit better about the whole P.I. thing. Really, we're not that great, just... it's a legit business. Some wizards are just all over the place, like..." She pauses. For a moment her face goes blank... no, not blank. Blanched. A quick breath is sucked in, and she lifts a hand to make an odd gesture in the air as if 'cutting' something unseen between her fingers. Immediately after she lets out a sigh of relief.

"Strange is back," she offers to Rogue with a weak smile. "And sick to his stomach if that feedback was any indication. At least we won't have to worry about him for awhile."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just lounges in her chair now, setting her tablet computer in its leather cover off to the side she just shakes her head. "I wouldn't worry about her too much either way." She glances after Jessica, watching the woman walk off. "She reeked of boozed. She's probably her own worst enemey when it comes t'her job." She then looks back to Molly and flashes her a grin.

The grin fades when the announcement of Strange's return is given. "That a fact?" She asksm releasing a dramatic sigh and giving a nod. "When ya head back there, tell'im for me that I'm gonna stop by t'check in on him and t'tell him about whats been goin' on. If ya would please." She flashes Molly a smile then. "Really could use his help getting the Avengers place back... It was startin' t'grow on me, after all..."

Molly Carpenter has posed:
Molly Carpenter gives a nod of agreement with that. She starts to reach for the baggie of beef jerky, but looks down to Ace again with a fond smile. "Tell you what, you can have the rest. Like I said, dad makes a lot of it." She pushes to her feet, dusting her hands off on her side. "If you need any help with any of this stuff, give me a holler. I'm always up for helping a friend out."
