Cast of Characters: Lara Croft, Poseidon

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara had come to this stretch of the ocean for a very specific reason, she was on the hunt for for a dangerou relic that was said to have been aboard an old ship. Recovered by Spanish explorers the artifact was said to control the elements in the region by simply wielding it and reading the engravings upon its handle. Its also said that while in transit this very item had been used by members of its crew without their captain's knowledge and this is what lead to their ship being capsized in a storm and swiftly swept to the bottom of the ocean here.

A SHIELD expedition was sent, Lara with a partner, they'd rented a boat and it was at the top of the sea's surface while Lara is at the bottom in the dark blue sea. High beam flashlight on her shoulder, Lara is in a black wetsuit and a high-tech helmet is allowing her to communicate with the surface. They'd found wreckage they'd believed to be THE ship... the 'Silken Lady'.

Lara's handheld light cuts through the darkness as she kicks her feet and swims around the exterior of the ship, its not so deep that humans cannot reach it and this is promising that they may yet discover more than they'd bargained for even.

Poseidon has posed:
The waves that took the Silken Lady were terrible and filled with wrath. Whatever this object was, it was easy to come to the conclusion that it pissed something off...or attracted something to it. Or someone, better yet.

As Lara swam towards the ocean floor, in the wreck of that ship, She may be able to feel something. The water was swirling, almost. But there was no storm overhead. Nor was there any chance of a whirlpool starting to happen....so what could it have been? If she's perceptive enough, she'll feel almost tingly.

Something was in the other room...or someone.

Lara Croft has posed:
Perception is probably the closest thing Lara has to a super power.

"Something's happening down here." Lara's voice says inside of her helmet. A light inside the helmet is illuminating her face from beneath her chin, a pure pale blue light against her youthful facial features. "No, its not dangerous." She says to the people up above on the SHIELD-contracted ship. "I think its the ship blocking a strong current, which is causing it to rush over and around the ship's hull." A wall of air bubbles from inside her suit pour up over her mask as she moves closer to the vessel, not paying much heed to the 'feeling' of someone else being down here... such things lead to ghost stories, and Lara wasn't much of a paranormal enthusiast.

"This is the wreckage of the Lady." Lara confirms when she swipes her hand over a badly rusted name plate bolted to the old wooden ship's deteriorating surface.

"I'm going to sweep inside, there's a large section of the ship ripped open." She says to her associates above. "I'll be fine, I promise." The British explorer reassures them as she kicks her feet and makes her way toward the openning in the hull, she sweeps herself inside and breaks past some sea flora that had built up over the years, causing clouds of dust to spread out around her as she moves through them into the Lady.

Poseidon has posed:
Ah, science. How wrong it can often be.

Alas, it was a good explanation to describe the strange water current. But there was more than a few things that were generally just...'off' about the whole thing. If she listened closely, it would almost sound as if someone was 'sighing'. If she checked the slightly large area of the ship that's also been ripped open, there would be a man in white robes (that weren't see-through, mind). Long flowing silver hair flowed down to his upper back. Though no beard grazed his face. He looked immensely young and easy on the eyes, even if he's millions of years old.

His robes appear to be resembling an immensely Greek pattern..and in his right hand is a golden-looking trident. He appears to be holding what looks like a kind of war horn, fashioned to look like it was made from the carapace of a rather large sea-creature.

"When will Mortals learn to never dabble in the affairs of the gods?"

Though...Sensing another presence inside the ship, Poseidon would turn his head to see what, or who, is approaching.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara spent a few minutes searching the interior of the ship before she came across this rather unexpected encounter, of course. And when she does... naturally her communication system inside her helmet gives her a display on the inside of the glass panel showing that it was on the fritz.

So when Lara does run across him, she was in the process of trying to reach her associates up above. "Can you hear me?" The Brit says to them several times, in different tones of voice. "Damnit." Lara muttered then... as she debates going back to the ship, but she can see that the rest of her suit is still functional so she presses on... and rounds the edge of the ship to reveal 'him' to her.

Lara's light falls upon the man in white and she suddenly sweeps her hands around to send her back half a foot or so in the dirty water within the ship. She gasps inside the helmet and keeps the light beam on 'him'.

"Who the bloody hell are you?" Lara asks then, though inside her mind she's already piecing together the visual cues of who he is. Greek Mythology is one subject she's quite familiar with afterall... but why would the god Poseidon be hidden inside the wreckage of the Lady?

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon glances to the mortal who has entered the room that bore his presence. The Sea God simply turned and looked upon Lara, not answering her at first. Instead taking note of her. It was not unthought of to Poseidon that the humans would be able to discover that this ship had met it's end in the crushing depts of the sea. Thus, The stormbringer turned his attention fully on Lara, locking his eyes, blue as the ocean, onto her own.

"Stay your hand and calm yourself, woman." He commands with the softest of tones. Like that of a sea, fully calmed. He approaches her, his feet touching the very floor of the ship they reside, having no need to swim or float. His voice rippled lightly through the water...before eventually he stops a small distance from Lara. "I am Poseidon. God of the Seas. The very water you swim in is mine and mine alone. Why did you come here? What did you seek to find?"

Clearly, Poseidon was just as curious of Lara as she was as curious of him.

A meeting that wouldn't happen under normal circumstances. Who knows where this would lead?

Lara Croft has posed:
His introduction of himself traveled through the water to her without the need of any comm device to make his voice reach her through her helmet even no less and her own voice inside her helmet, he could hear... Even with his introduction though, she wasn't about to fully take his word for fact. The odds of her, a relative nobody in her opinion, stumbling across the god Poseidon on a fairly routine acquisitions mission (as far as missions for WAND goes).

"I... see." Lara replies to the man then. Lara's eyes briefly leave him then as she looks around the room that they share and she then looks back to him. "I came in search of a device. An artifact once referred to as the 'Weather's Warden'. A small staff with the power to control the weather around you."

Lara reaches her free hand over to place it on the old wooden bulkhead where a rusty metal doorframe is, she... is still having to swim to stay where she is, her flippered-feet moving in languid motions beneath her. "I certainly had no intentions of disturbing... you." She adds then, her light still on him, aimed at his mid section.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon keeps his eyes on Lara, though even now he doesn't quite know who she actually is. It is only when she reveals the goal behind her investigation that Poseidon narrows his eyes. He looks to hte object in his hand, which would elongate into a staff when activated. But for now, it rests dormant in the hands of the Greek God.

"Why do you seek it? Do you hope to use it's power for your own gain?" Poseidon asks. He makes no hostile movement, nor does he sound particularly hostile. Instead it's like he's simply making a basic inquiry.

This is where Lara would hopefully make a wise decision in her choice of words.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara watches the 'god' closely as he moves before her and what he does with that staff that he seems to be preparing for her to make an ill-advised response.

She re-centers her gaze upon him and she shakes her head inside of her helmet, the blue light still on and still illuminating the contours of her face from in front of/and below her chin on. "Not even remotely." Lara responds to him then with sincerity thick in her voice. "My name is Lara Croft, I'm an archaeologist currently under the employ of an organization known as SHIELD... I function as the leader of their Dangerous Relic Acquisition's team. This means my job is to travel the world in search of items such as that Weather's Warden. We aim to take them out of play, store them in a safe facility, where heinous and nefarious individuals will be unable to get their hands upon them."

The explorer then releases a sigh inside the helmet as she continues to float there beside the old doorway. "I'm here to make sure the item is never used to benefit anyone unfairly. To make sure it never harms the innocents of our world. Items, such as it, are unsafe to be left in places where bad people can find them first."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon remains silent as Lara speaks her words. Her body language and her eyes revealed to Poseidon that no matter what she was saying, she was telling the truth. A sigh touches Poseidons lips as suddenly, all the water is removed from the room, leaving it damp and especially dry so she didn't have to awkwardly float by the doorway.

"I see." Poseidon seems to take a deep breath, looking at the artifact in his hand. "It was already in my care when it was stolen. Perhaps it would be the wise course of action to give it to those who reside on the surface." A deep breath from the Lord of Earthquakes before he hands the artifact to Lara. "I entrust the Weather Warden to you. See to it that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands."

This was a serious act of trust on the goodwill of his very nature. "You have won me over with your words, Lara Croft."

Lara Croft has posed:
When the water rushes out of the room, Lara is left on her flippered feet upon deck planks that are so old that she has to stand on the metal frame to keep from falling through them. She lets her eyes roam around the room along with the beam of light from her left hand. But its his words that draw her eyes back.

When he hands the artifact over to her, she reaches out to accept it with her free hand now, gloved in a material similar to the rest of her wetsuit. The archaeologist nods her head once to him then as she accepts it and draws it back to glance down at it and to identify it with a quick once-over... she's that good to know if she's holding something authentic or not...

After a handful of seconds observing it she looks back up to him and her next words come after a moment of clear hesitation, clearly she's unsure of what to say further. "You're really him then?" She asks. "The god of the sea, of earthquakes... of, horses." Its not as though she's unable to believe in them, it wasn't that long that she helped Thor retrieve his hammer from Olympus itself, after all.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon hands over the //very// powerful Olympian artifact to Lara and he watches her reaction. Poseidon is not much of a trickster, even if he could give someone a real run for their money. Nay, the God of the Sea simply smiles then as she asks him if he's the real deal. The genuine article.

"I am." Poseidon says simply with a small smile to Lara. approaching her. "The Olympians, much like the Asgardians, have not yet abandoned this realm, despite what others would have you believe. We've simply expanded our cover." he winks lightly. "But, that is perhaps a story for another time."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara keeps the staff known as the Weather Warden in her right hand as she watches him approach and listens closely to what he says to her. She nods her head once inside of the helmet that is designed to not rest on the wearer's head, but around it rather, which gives her full motion of head movement inside of the device.

"I've worked with the Asgardians before, several times." Lara replies to him then. "I'm... here to help, should you ever need an archaeologist. Why would you? I can't possibly imagine, but... I've helped Thor retrieve artifacts long thought lost, and if you ever need it you need but seek me out as well. I'm more than happy to aide you as well."

Lara then glances down at the Staff in her hand and she looks back up to him. "I better return to my ship above. My radio is down and its already likely causing a panic reaction with my partner waiting for me." She nods again to the man in the white. "Thank you, again." She tells him, her British accented English sincere and heartfelt. The weight of meeting him is not lost on her, by any means.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon smiles to the mortal woman, giving her the smallest nod. "I see." Though he seems to almost chuckle as he hears her offer. He knows the oceans better than anyone. Knows the earth, better than anyone. But, the offer is not lost on him, nor does he forsake the weight of the offer. With a small bow of his head, Poseidon smiles.

"I will keep it in mind, Lara. You need not worry. I will seek you if you have need of me, or vice versa. As it stands, I am indebted to you for placing this into a safe place. We will meet again." as she thanks him, he nods only once.

"It's my pleasure. Until next we meet." and suddenly, water starts to pour back into the ship. Lara already had on her gear, so it wouldn't bother her none. But she'd notice that as the water rose? Poseidon gradually disappeared. "Safe travels."

then...he was gone.
