A healthy dose of medicine
Date of Scene: 03 October 2018
Location: Gotham General Hospital
Synopsis: Amarok goes to interrogate an injured gangster, and ends up facing a mysterious masked ninja.
Cast of Characters: Shredder, Amarok

Shredder has posed:
Three days ago, there was an explosion. A crime boss's mansion was detonated by someone. Who is not quite clear. By some miracle and the fast work of the Gotham General doctors, he's still breathing. Someone clearly wanted him dead, and as such he's had his men surrounding the hospital. They aren't obvious, but it's hard for anyone with a knowledge of the underworld of Gotham not to realize he has as many people protecting him as he can, because it's certain that whoever it was will try to finish the job. Naturally, weapons aren't allowed in the hospital, but it's likely those inside have somehow managed to circumvent the rule.

Amarok has posed:
The soft beeping of the heart monitor is all the sound the room enjoys, beep, beep, beep, beep, minute after minute, beep, beep, beep, beep....Then a new noise chimes in, the soft quiet rasp of a vent covering sliding open. And then it's gone, and room's sound is once more dominated by the soft beeping of the monitor....And then, a new rasp, metal on stone, soft and rythmic. Amarok sits in the dark corner of the room, leaned back, blade in hand, casually sharpening it as his lifeless LEDs emit their low light, glancing over the door so quickly locked before turning that gaze upon the near death crime lord. Beep, beep, beep, beep...rasp, rasp, rasp rasp....

Shredder has posed:
The sound of the metal on stone causes the one eye not covered by a facial bandage to open, spotting Amarok, and a distinct fear crosses his face for a moment. It recedes, and Joe Darantine coughs a little before speaking. "So..." he whispers. "First time it's with a bomb, like a coward, but the second time, you wait for me to see you?" he asks. "A little inconsistent of you." Apparently he thinks he's talking to the person who made the first attempt.

Amarok has posed:
Joe's awakening draws a sudden unnatural jerk of Amarok's head, a ceasing of all other movements. He waits several seconds after Joe wakes up before moving in even the slightest. Then, just as sudden and jerkily, he rises to his feet, and strides silently across the room to Joe, getting in close where he can easily stop him from pushing the emergency call button, ".....I didn't try to kill you....But I do want to know who did..." Comes crackling through Amarok's mask's speaker, cold and monotone over the helpless criminal.

Shredder has posed:
"Wanna take care of my problems?" Joe laughs, and then coughs again. "Same people tryin' to put their thumb on everybody else right now. Foot Clan." He frowns. "In retrospect, I guess I should've fallen in line, but I'm a bit hard-headed I guess. Sneaky bastards, my home is under surveillance all the time. Damn ninjas. But hey, if you can keep me safe, I'll pay ya."

Amarok has posed:
"I'm half tempted to let them kill you. One less problem I need deal with after this is done..." Amarok coldly says, "Tell me about this 'Foot Clan' and why a group of ninjas care about a Gotham crime boss." Amarok casually twirls the combat knife in his off hand whilst talking, as if not even realizing it's happening.

Shredder has posed:
"You want me to tell you after you say you gonna let them kill me?" Joe rasps out. "Nuh uh, you gotta protect me first, if the pay you want is info, you can't get it from me dead."

As if on cue, something that looks like a piece of gum slaps against the outside of the window. "Aw, fuck."

It's only a second before the small explosion shatters the tempered glass, causing the small shards to collapse both in and outside the room. "Boys!" Joe calls desperately, the monitor on his heart raising.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok ducks down behind the bed as the window blows out, effectively using Joe as cover, and prepping his sawed-off as the glass stops flying, rolling out around the bed for a clear shot and keeping it locked tight for a target. Here's hoping Joe's boys can break down a hospital door....Or maybe here's hoping they cant.

Shredder has posed:
There is a shake of the door, and another shake. Then a kick, and the door flings open. A Gotham PD enters at the sound, the boy in blue pulling his gun as he sees the window, then sees Amarok. He's followed by two men in suits, likely Joe's guys.

"Freeze!" the cop announces, leveling his firearm at Amarok. No one yet has come through the window, leaving the night air the only intruder from outside at the moemnt. "Drop your weapon!"

Amarok has posed:
As the cop bursts in, Amarok flips the shotgun up over his shoulder and fires two of the four barrels, the shots ringing out like mortar fire. The cop has just barely enough time to do the usual cop callout before catching a centermass full of riot suppresants....It's a good thing he's in the hospital, cuz he, and anyone directly behind him, probly have several broken bones now....Great public relations there, Dan. Amarok quickly snaps the gun back open and slides another pair of shells in to replace the spent ones, despite the bottom two barrels still being readied....Strange....And then re-aims for the window, the likely startled gangsters getting a quick callout, "Focus on the window, your jobs depend on it...." Said just as monotonaly cold and calculating as ever...

Shredder has posed:
The cop flies back, slamming into the wall, and the two gangsters pull their pistols, and start firing at the intruder as he starts to tell them to focus on the window. Upon the ruckus starting, A figure does dive from above, red mask and gray, steely armor that seems to snug over the body lands on the floor. It looks almost unnatural, elongated fingers, spike like digits on the ground. One of the gangsters sees the arrival, and pulls his aim toward the window.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok narrowly manages a roll out of the way of the panicked shooting, his armor deflecting a few rounds as he gets behind the corner out of line of sight from the door. Then the monstrous ninja drops in, and another round of mortar fire lets out, more riot supressers spraying out at it.

Shredder has posed:
The red masked ninja tilts its head, gender ambiguous behind the strange outfit, almost alien looking. An arm comes up, and the shots scatter across the armor, knocking the figure back, and the blades of the fingers dig into the wall as it braces itself from the impact. The bullet goes wide of the ninja from the gangster, and a fling of the hand releases one of the claws, which strikes the gangster neatly through the eye socket. Another reflexive round goes into the floor as the man drops to the ground, dead before he hits the floor. The ninja leaps back toward Amarok, striking like a snake as it launches from the wall, claws first to stab at the opposing ninja.
The other gangster stops, and seems uncertain how to respond to the battle, and instead, hesitantly keeps his aim between the two.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok freezes as the ninja lunges for him, his entire body still as stone as it gets closer and closer. Then, in a blink, he pulls to the side, around the lunge, shotgun reholstered, and punches the ninja right in the back of the head as goes by, if nothing else, drastically altering it's flight-path. After the punch, he shuffles around towards Joe, providing....nominal protection....Kind of....I guess.

Shredder has posed:
The ninja takes the strike to the head, and lands, rolling to the side, and catching itself against the wall. As Joe is used as part cover, the tined fingers reach to a small device the size of a baseball. It plucks it between the blades, holding it up, and the thumb presses a button. A couple of quick blinks, and it is tossed to the floor before Amarok.

Instead of continuing the fight, the instant response is a dive toward the window, the ninja seeking to make a fast exit. It probably doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what just was dropped cold hospital floor.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok doesn't waste a moment as the ninja makes it's escape, grabbing Joe by the arm and yanking free of the bed....That must be unimaginably painful....He throws him quickly over his shoulder, and in the same motion, dives out the window, grapple gun pulled mid-roll and used to pull them clear of the hospital to a roof across the street.

Shredder has posed:
Joe screams as he is pulled from the bed, the rough maneuver doing more than a little to aggravate his injuries. As he lands on the roof, he curls into a fetal position, several wounds reopened. There's a sudden explosion out of the window, similar to that of a hand grenade, and atop the roof of the hospital, the red mask peers across. The figure moves back, and a few seconds later it comes leaping across the gap. A long jump to be sure. If it's a human, they have some type of augmentation, because the leap is too far for otherwise.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok digs through his belt for a moment before pulling a tiny injector out and sticking Joe with it. It wont really help that much, but it'll numb him a bit.....Probly not nearly as much as he'd like, but it's better than nothing. He then pulls it out and slides it back into the pouch as he steps over Joe and towards the arriving ninja, "Back down now, and you leave in cuffs. Keep me waiting, and you never walk again...." He says in his perpetual monotone as he adjustingly fiddles with his gloves.

Shredder has posed:
"You would be wise not to interfere," the red masked figure responds. It's a whisper of a voice, and may be female. "This is not your concern." The ninja dives forward again, and lands with clawed hands planted, foot shooting up with a speed that borders on inhuman, aimed for the jaw-No. Not the jaw, as the foot is in mid strike, she twists, ant the other leg comes around to sweep at Amarok's feet to knock him to the ground. Rather acrobatic.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok continues fiddling with his gloves as the ninja gives it's warning, cracking his knuckles as it goes for the attack. As makes it's dual kicks, he leaps up over it, grabbing the offending foot and using the momentum of the flip to pull the ninja with him, slamming it down into the roof and then spinning around once to toss it away from Joe, following with something of a slasher movie villain walk.

Shredder has posed:
As the ninja comes hurtling toward the ground, she catches herself hand first, using the throw to handspring away. She lands in a crouched position, tilting the red head to one side oddly. She dives forward, but then darts to the side as she grows closer to Amarok rather than attack, and with a fling of a taloned digit, a small pellet strikes the ground in the darkness, exploding with a blinding light.

Amarok has posed:
As the pellet hits the ground, Amarok's hand shoots up reflexively to the side of his helmet, pressing on it and getting into a ready position. Then it explodes in a flash of light and sound. Amarok flinches away a bit, though the visual mode change provides nominal protection, it's still the equivalent of staring really close at a screen when it suddenly flashes bright white. Amarok stumbles back a bit, hands coming up defensively, and he staggers back a bit, looking a tad woozy.

Shredder has posed:
As Amarok stumbles back, the red masked ninja spins, a foot coming in a snap kick aimed at the left kidney on Dan, knowing that adjustment to the dark should take a moment again, and follows it with a slash at the left thigh with the claws, trying to take advantage of the momentary visual impairment.

Amarok has posed:
As the attacks come in, Amarok shifts shifts a bit, managing to move his leg so the blade simply scratches across the armor. The kick however, lands clean. The armor absorbs the bulk of the force, but a kidney shot is still a kidney shot, causing Amarok to sputter out an angry grunt as his body tightens up in response. He rolls away with the kick, getting some distance and coming up on one knee, smacking the side of his helmet a couple times as he does so.

Shredder has posed:
The ninja flings forward, looking to end the fight decisively with a powerful stab of the fingers of blades aiming for Dan's gut. A distinctive 'take no prisoners' stance. It's clear that Dan has joined her list of targets in her mission.

Amarok has posed:
As the Ninja lunges forward, Amarok once more holds still...But this time he doesn't dodge. As the ninja pulls in, Amarok thrusts his hand forward, impaling it on the ninja's blades, closing over and locking the attacking hand in a death grip. At which point, he comes up swinging on captured assassin, a tireless rain of brutal blows with his remaining hand, the other not giving an inch to flee.

Shredder has posed:
Even without a visible face, the expression of surprise can be read in the body language. The realization of why he defended the way he did comes a little late, as the blow comes across the red bob of a head. The second lands, and while it's true there is another razor covered hand that could deliver a killing blow, it be comes evident that the ninja's bell was rung pretty effectively. In a regulated fight, they would stop the match because she can't intelligently defend herself. Unfortunately for her, there's no referee, and so she takes the blows one after another, body starting to buckle from the vertigo-inducing strikes.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok keeps striking, hard and fast for a good thirty seconds with shots to face, chest, stomach, ears, until finaly a moment's break, when he pulls back, pulls one of his knives from their sheath, and plunges it deep through ninja's shoulder, right at the joint of the free arm, locking it uselessly in place. Then he finaly lets the poor thing drop, a simple push of the forehead. If the ninja's legs have given out, the only thing preventing a skull splitting drop, his Amarok's still locked on hand.

Shredder has posed:
Like a rag doll, the ninja falls to the ground, dangling from the impaled hand as she is shoved backward. She oddly doesn't let out as much as a grunt at any point.

"Holy hell," coughs Joe. "You are a real psycho, you know that?" he says, checking the torn open wound on his side from the explosion. "A real piece'a work."

Amarok has posed:
As Joe speaks, Amarok's head jerks suddenly over to stare directly at him. He then turns, pulling the ninja with him and casually stepping on her as he passes over her towards Joe, pulling her limp carcass along the entire time, ".....I've been told that..." He says in his ever readied monotone, head slowly tilting as he looks Joe over, "....Now, before you bleed to death....Time to pay the piper...."

Shredder has posed:
"Hell, you wanna know?" Joe asks with a grin. "You go crazy on them to your heart's content. Foot Clan. Big operation outta Japan, done business in this city for years, never had a territory, though, not till a couple months ago. Now they are like ants, eating up smaller crime families, makin' lackeys outta them." He shakes his head. "Kickin' a hornet's nest to mess with them," he warns, gripping his side again. "You'll be the next missing person if they find out what you did there."

Amarok has posed:
"When....Not if...." He says coldly as he looks down to battered ninja, "......Do me a favor." He says looking back at Joe, "....When they ask you what happened....Tell them everything." He says once more in his monotone as he turns and begins walking away, still dragging the ninja with him....

Shredder has posed:
"I-*cough*-I can do that," Joe says, looking back up. "Might get me a few more years of life, you never know." He shakes his head. "Your funeral." He lays his head down on the gravel rooftop, and after a second, he lifts it back up. "Wait...hey," he says. "You gonna help me get back? I'm bleedin' here." He sees that Dan is leaving. "Or call the hospital or somethin'?"

Amarok has posed:
Amarok keeps walking a few steps after Joe calls for his help, turning back and looking at him. He simply stares for a few moments then pulls out his hand cannon, aims it right at Joe, and fires six times. The rubber bullets go wide by a good foot but he probly cant see that to well beforehand. And probly cant hear much of anything after the massive *BLAM* *BLAM* *BLAM* the gun makes. After a moment to let Joe finish peeing himself....Hopefully proverbially, he turns and resumes walking away, "They'll figure it out." He calls back in his emotionless monotone, apparently leaving Joe's presumably remaining guards and the police to just follow the gunfire.
