Cast of Characters: Daredevil, Selene (Underworld), Sabretooth, Black Cat, Melinda May, Claire Temple, Mercy Thompson

Daredevil has posed:
Friday pool night had been on hold for a couple of weeks due to the news about Elektra and her death, though, tonight things were back on. Folks showing up at Josie's to drink and if the mood struck play a bit of pool.

Matt Murdock is there at the end of the bar set up to 'watch' any games, between sips of his beer. The lawyer is dressed down today, jeans and a hoodie instead of his regular suit, though to those closest to him, he's looking better than he has in a few days, at least he's shaved.

The crowd at the bar is light and the staff are serving their usual swill and cheap food.

Let the games begin.

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
Selene had stepped into the bar a little while ago. Not every night was dramatic black leather bodysuits and chasing down enemies of her people to exterminate their entire population... No, some nights were 'hers', rare but there. In this instance, the woman sits at the bar already, wearing a voluminous black wool sweater that covers her upper body, and a pair of slim black leather pants on her lower half that lead down to black heeled boots. Her black hair frames her face and she has her left hand around the base of a drink that she's raising up to her lips for a sip. Now and then her brown eyes glance to those who're speaking or passing by in the bar, but otherwise she just looks ahead, or down at her phone when a text pings within it.

Sabretooth has posed:
The door opens letting in the rapidly cooling October night air. Victor Creed has to duck his head as he walks into the bar. He is dressed in a simple white tshirt that is stretched across his broad chest and a pair of jeans. He isn't wearing a jacket despite the chill in the air. He makes his way towards the bar with a walk that looks like he has been many a bar like this over the years. He gives a nod to the fellow customers at the bar before ordering a Canadian Whiskey from Josie. He leans against the bar, looking over the crowd now, as he waits for his drink.

Black Cat has posed:
Felicia tends to go to the higher class bars downtown in Manhatten but today, the socialite, felt like slumming it. Josie's was a place the thief had scene a few times while out patrolling trying to be a super-hero or simply trying to line her glittering pockets. The platinum blonde woman steps into the bar with a curious glance around, instantly the woman looks out of place. She has a long white knitted jacket that reaches down to her calves and black everything else. The woman is staying comfortable, but still far more fashionable than anyone should be in Hell's Kitchen. Felicia walks up to the bartender and smirks her million dollar smile before she orders, "A whiskey neat."

Melinda May has posed:
Having been told that an important SHIELD informant had intel to relate and wanted to meet at a particular bar, and that the agent who usually met with said informant was currently unavailable, Acting Deputy Director Melinda May made the executive decision to go to the meet herself. Considering the security level required, it was the most expedient decision.

Following an out-of-place fashionista into the bar, she avoids the well-populated bar itself and claims a side table near the pool tables for herself and sits with her back to the wall.

And waits.

Claire Temple has posed:
"Step right up, ladies and gentlemen," Foggy Nelson announces to the bar at large, spreading his arms to brandish both beer bottle and pool cue. After several minutes of concentrated racking and minutely aligning the assembled billiard balls in formation at the far end of the scraped and more than slightly scuffed pool table, Foggy was ready to gather the masses to partake in the evening's festivities... or so he thought.

"Nelson and Murdock rules this evening, free for all to play," he says, drawing out the last phrase in grudging distaste. "First off, don't drink the water," he says, waving the bottle for emphasis. "Secondly, to ensure everything is fair, all shot calling will be done by that blind man right over there," he says, gesturing toward Matt. "We're honest lawyers!"

Melinda May has posed:
May looks over at the man being loud at the pool table right next to her. She's tempted -- for a moment -- to snatch the pool cue out of his hand just to see how he reacts. But then, that would be far from subtle, and she's got a contact she's supposed to meet here.

Thus, she shifts her jacket a bit and then settles for looking like she's trying to ignore the man and settles back in her seat to wait.

Daredevil has posed:
One of the advantages of Matt's senses was that he survey the room without turning his head. So, while he waits at the bar his attention flicks to the new arrival, the big guy, the woman who's clothing rustles just so to let him know it was expensive, the other woman who moved with purpose and smelt faintly of oil to grab a gunfighter's seat by the pool table. Trouble?

And then there was the woman without a heartbeat, he'd been trying to figure her out since she walked in.

He stands to go bump into her, try to get a sense of what she's about when it's suddenly pool time!

Matt puts on a smile, waving, "Hi," he greets chuckling. "We are indeed honest lawyers, and pretty bad pool players," a smile. "Me especially. So step right up if you're looking for a win."

Sabretooth has posed:
"Got a rubberband back there?" Victor asks and leans over the bar once his drink is set in front of him. He snags a rubberband from the pen and odds and end jar and pulls his long, shaggy hair back out of his face. He then picks up his drink, but glances down the bar as Foggy announces the pool. He pushes himself away from the bar as he watches. "Usually the ones that say 'we are bad players' or 'I'm honest' are the most crooked ones in the bunch." His voice is rough with a bit of a growl to it, but he begins to make his way down the bar.

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
The woman in black looks to her left to the others who enter the tavern, Victor and then the two women. She stares at them for a moment but not long enough for it to be awkward, as at her age she's learned social interactions as well as one should. She reaches for her drink and looks down to it while she hears the general commotion of the bar around her. Her drink is raised for a sip and then she sits it back down upon its paper coaster. Its Foggy's announcement that draws her eyes over to him. She stares at the man for a moment, her pale face contrasted starkly against her black clothing and shoulder length hair. She hasn't said a word since she'd come in here. At least until she's bumped into by the blind man. Selene looks to him on her right and she speaks up then. "I'm sorry." She says in a quiet voice, laced with a European accent. Her heart wasn't beating, but she was certainly alive.

Black Cat has posed:
Felicia is leaning against the bar, forgoing a stool for now as she waits for the bartender to bring her the drink she ordered and yet the thief is started by the sudden loudness from the blond man over by the felt tables. "What ARE Nelson and Murdock rules?" Felicia asks before her head snaps back to the bartender and says her thank yous for the drink and moves closer towards the table before she stops while passing Matt. With a finger pointed at Victor, Felicia responds to Matt, "Biggies got a point."

Claire Temple has posed:
"We are indeed horrific pool players, and we absolutely stink on ice," Foggy agrees enthusiastically, slugging down another drink of his beer. "Except we don't get the ice from here, because... well, the water."

"That's easy," he replies, pointing and swinging his hand across the front of his body. "First, no buy-in, except for special occasions or to benefit charity cases," he says, eyeing Matt. "All of which will be announced before the first game is racked. Secondly, don't drink the water. And third," he says, holding up the pool cue so the blue-chalked narrow end indicates his law partner, "Blind guy calls the shots. All very simple, and completely above the board."

"C'mon, anyone want to break?" he asks the bar at large. "Otherwise I'll be the only one playing, and that just plain looks rigged!"

Daredevil has posed:
The bump from Selene is felt and the apology heard and Matt smiles in response, "Probably my fault for standing in the way of the tables," he says easily. "I should probably take a seat over in the corner, would you be able to help me over there?"" he asks. "Matt Murdock, by the way."

As to the rest? "I believe my partner has answered all your questions, as for being honest, play and find out, per the rules, no buy in needed," Matt explains with a smile. "So, step right up, we're just looking to blow off some steam."

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor downs his drink with one gulp and sets the empty glass on the bar before proceeding to the pool table. He walks around the table once slowly. He lets his fingers drag over the felt as he looks over Foggy and the blind partner. "If I'm not risking money, I suppose I can give it a shot," he says slowly as if still trying to get a measure on the two lawyers. "But not that stick," he gestures towards the one Foggy is holding. He moves over to the wall, touching each stick, and finally bringing one over and rolling it over the top of the pool table.

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
Selene's left hand is up near her neck and she places it beneath the fabric of the dark grey scarf she has around it, she rubs at the side of her neck as she hears the blind man's request from beside her. "Oh." She starts then and drops her hand down to the bar, turning to face him. "Why, yes, of course." She moves to slide herself off of her stool and offers him her left hand to help guide him. "Selene." She tells him her name, her voice as soft as her room temperatured touch, but its cold outside now, so cold hands are normalish, right? "I presume you're either Murdock or Nelson?" She asks him as she guides to the table, her eyes going to those who're stepping up to play.

Melinda May has posed:
May's eyebrows draw together as her phone buzzes in her jacket pocket. She pulls it out to look at the screen and frowns more openly -- the contact has postponed due to TRAFFIC. That does it, she's got enough other things to do.

Putting her phone back in her pocket, she stands in preparation to leave, though has to wait as some of the other bar patrons actually express interest in joining the ... whatever is going on at the pool table and get in her way.

Out of habit more than anything else, she eyes each person as they walk past as if evaluating them for how much effort it would take to put them on the floor and leave them there.

Black Cat has posed:
Felicia looks up at Foggy and with a single eyebrow slowly lifting up on her forehead, "You two sound really suspicious." The thief says before she lifts her whiskey up to her lips and drinks it all in a single silent lift of her chin and the tumbler. Felicia sets it down on the bar behind her and then sets out a single bill on the bartop before the socialite turns to simply leave the bar in a subtle huff.

Daredevil has posed:
"Thanks," he says, "I've got the cane but it helps to have a guide," he says letting her lead the way to the table. "And I'm the Murdock half," he tucks his cane under his arm to fish out a business card. "If you ever need legal representation," he says as he reaches the table. "And going to play? Sounds like we've got at least one taker so far," he says as he feels his way to a seat. Happening to knock over his cane so it bumps into May at her table. Might as well keep tabs on both of the dangerous ladies int he room.

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
"Here we are and, yes, I understand. A guide is... often helpful. In any case." Selene quietly says to Matt as they reach the table then and she takes her hand back, though she hesitates and reaches out when he brandishes a card from their law firm. Selene accepts the card and drops her eyes to it for a moment. "Thank you, I'll remember that offer." The card is slipped into a pocket of her black leather pants and she lets her eyes sweep over to those at the pool table. "I've... not played in some time. I'm afraid I'd be an 'easy mark' as it were." She glances back to Matt, she was going to smile, but he's blind so whats the point? Her eyes glance to May then and nods once toward the other woman. Felicia isn't noted as she leaves.

Claire Temple has posed:
Foggy watches with a gimlet eye as Victor rounds the pool table with a hand dragged along the playing surface. He pulls his chin back and cants a look toward Matt before putting the pool cue in front of him and holding it in his hands much the same way his partner might hold his cane. "No, this one's mine," he says. "Why would I give up on... Rosie?" he asks, flicking a fingernail against the varnished wood.

"Come on," he says, lightly tapping his fingers against the frame of the table. "Just two? In a place like this? Really?!"

Sabretooth has posed:
Victor appears satisfied with the cue stick he has picked out and stands next to the table with the butt of the stick on the ground and grasping the top. "Whenever you are ready." He gestures toward the table. "Your table. You can break."

Melinda May has posed:
Again May is about to step away and out the door, but then Matt drops his cane pretty much on her feet. And, because she's professional but she's not a jerk, she stops to pick it up. She offers it to the blind man's current guide, still doing a pretty good job of ignoring Foggy. "You dropped this," she says, but doesn't try to shove the cane into Matt's hands.

She gives Selene a seemingly polite glance and nod hello, but since Mr. Big is paying attention to the cue-wrangling man who is presumably Nelson, she doesn't offer him a similar greeting.

Daredevil has posed:
"Should give it a try," Matt says to Selene. "Could be fun."

It would also give him a better guage of what she could do, even if it came at the cost of arming her with a sturdy wooden stick.

May's attempt to return the cane is met with a vague nod at the sound of her voice. "Thank you," he says, holding his own hand out for the cane. "And sounds like the pool table needs more players. Not to sound like a broken record, but it might be fun."

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
Selene steps back toward the bar where her phone and drink are still resting. She gathers up her drink and takes another sip from it before she turns and looks to the pool players then, one of her arms crossing over her stomach while the other holds her drink in front of her. "I'll admit I'm curious to know how I'd do, so if anyone wishes a game, I'm willing..." She tells the players, and whomever else is watching/listening. Her glass is then raised up for another sip and her phone buzzes once more so she turns to take a second to check it over.

The phone is desposited back onto the bar then and she turns back to the others at the tables.

Melinda May has posed:
Now that Matt is reaching for his cane, she gently sets it against his palm and waits for him to actually have it before letting go. "I shouldn't. I need to get back to work." Though, really, she blocked out at least a couple of hours for this meeting that isn't going to happen now. And, when was the last time she had a couple of hours to do whatever she wanted?

"But you know, they'll survive for a little while." She's still VERY tempted to snatch 'Rosie' away from Nelson.

Daredevil has posed:
Matt takes the cane back with a smile, "Thanks, and you should," he says and then when both May and Selene agree ot play, he says, "Great.."

Lifting his head in Foggy's direction, "Two more, the blind guy says form teams, and then whoever breaks, breaks."

His word given Matt takes a drink from his almost forgotten beer.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy comes in and after a glance around the bar heads toward the bar itself and a seat. She sighs in relief at sitting down and taking the weight off her feet. "Hey," she greets the barkeep. "Coke, and some nachoes please."

Claire Temple has posed:
"Okay, fine," Foggy says, throwing a glance heavenward, and... ew, is that mold?

He picks up the cue and flips it idly in his hands as he assumes the preferred stance and position for beginning play, N&M rules or otherwise. He makes a not halfhearted try at forcing the cue ball into the formation to split, and... well.

He rolls his eyes at the ensuing pathetic showing and taps the rubber bumper at the wide end of the cue against the toe of his shoe. "See? Told you I'm absolutely not a professional."

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
Selene steps toward the rack where the cues are kept and she gathers one up for herself and then moves toward one of the open tables. She'd played this game a fair amount of the years, but never taken it overly seriously so even at an advanced age such as hers, she would never call herself an expert of it.

The woman in black moves to sort the pool balls out and set them within their proper place via the use of the wooden rack. She looks up then as another moves toward the bar and then her eyes flick over toward where Matt and May are.

"I'll put one hundred dollars on this game." She tells whomever wishes to play her. "May as well go big."

Melinda May has posed:
After agreeing to play, May actually takes a moment to wonder where her brain is, but then dismisses that thought and goes after Selene to also claim a pool cue. And, possibly a telltale habit, she kind of subtly checks the cue she picked for balance. THough, does a pivot-point factor in to pool?

Even though she thought Nelson had said no money to start on the game, she nods to Selene. Because why not? If the money goes to the lawyers, maybe they'll actually put it to some positive use. They don't seem like typical lawyers, after all.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy turns to watch the pool game forming up while she waits for her order. The coke appears pretty much immediately and she pretty much immediately drinks about a third of it. A hundred on a pool game. "Definitely not my night for pool," she mutters to herself, not sounding in the least upset. With that kind of money on the game she suspects it'll be fun to watch at least. Foggy's performance at the other table gets a brief half smile. Mercy would've hit harder but probably with about as much effect. She looks over at Matt, "I'll keep you company, give you the play by play of the games if you want," she offers.

Daredevil has posed:
"Everyone agree on the bet?" Matt asks, the players, before offering soto voice to Foggy. "I can stake you, bud," he says with a grin.

With his night work, he didn't exactly get out and spend what little he made. Plus Elektra's fund had given them salaries, which was new for the two of them.

When Mercy joins them, he nods in the direction of her voice, "Sure," he says. "Grab a stool. I'm Matt Murdock," he says extending a hand. "Should be an interesting game."

Selene (Underworld) has posed:
Selene finishes chalking her cue and then sets the chalk aside and she starts around the table with a light grin on her lips. "As I said. I've not played in... quite a long time, so if someone is okay with making a little extra money, I'll not hold it against them for putting me in my place here. I just like to think that, its the weekend, its almost Halloween, we may as well have a little fun, yes?" The European woman says then as she lines up to take the first shot, barring anyone's disapproval of her doing that, she'll aim for the pyramid of balls and use her stick to strike the cue-ball to smash the others about the table!

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Mercedes Thompson, Mercy," Mercy says, shaking Matt's hand. "Good to meet you. And...there's the break, it's a strong one. Balls are well scatterd but none go down." She does the commentary in her best radio golf announcer voice. She relaxes on the barstool, leaning an elbow on the arm and getting semi comfortable. "Looks like it'll be a long game."
