Iron Fist has posed:
It was late afternoon on a chilly day in October. This didn't stop Danny Rand for having lunch, outside at a table at his new favorite cafe, just across the street from Rand Enterprises. Although cool, it was sunny, and the breeze wasn't entirely unpleasant. A monday, the streets were busy, but it wasn't quitting hour yet, so it wasn't too crazy at the moment.

Danny was sipping on tea, having a sandwich, while reading a newspaper. If one was to look carefully, it was the comics, not the business section as some would expect. With a smile, and a crunch of his sandwich, Dany read on.

Daredevil has posed:
It had been a couple of weeks since the tournament and Matt was still putting himself together one step at a time. Not that much of it showed on the outside, he still looked very much the same old Matt, suit, tie, cane, shades, wry grin and stubble; the subtle details that's where it showed, the lack of bounce in his step, the hint of tiredness to his voice.

Regardless, he'd come by Danny's office to talk, only to be pointed across the street to a cafe by his assistant. Matt had smiled and thanked her, declining assistance, and heading there on his own, walking in he senses Danny sitting at his table and makes his way over.

"This seat taken?" he asks, smiling, after bumping one of the chairs with his cane.

Iron Fist has posed:
Laughing at one of the comics, Danny Rand looks up at the sound of Matt's arrival. With a smile and a nod towards the chair across from his that had been tapped, Danny says, "Matt! Absolutely, please, have a seat and join me. What would you like? They make a wicked tea, and I'm enjoying a toasted tomato sandwich, with light mayo...it's great. On me!" Danny says, putting the paper down, and rising slightly from his chair in respect. "What brings you to this neck of the woods?"

Daredevil has posed:
Matt actually smiles a genuine smile in the face of Danny's enthusiasm. "Hey, man," he says as he slips into the chair across from Danny. "And sure, what you're having sounds great," he says.

He folds up his cane, and sticks it behind him on the chair.

There it was, the question to bring clouds back over the momentary ray of sunshine. "I need your help, as Danny and, well..." he trails off. "Elektra's gone, and, well things are moving quickly."

Iron Fist has posed:
Nodding with a smile, Danny waves until he gets the waitresses attention from inside the cafe, where it was warmer. Pointing to what he had, and mouthing, "Another" then pointing at Matt, the girl nods, and vanishes to set that up. Settling back down into his seat, he regards Matt thoughtfully for a moment.

"AH yes. That whole tournament thing. Sorry Matt. Truly I am. She was a good woman." Danny frowns. "I'm also sorry I had to disappear. Seems the Hand didn't want me to win, so I was...waylaid, and was late for my match. I'm okay, but you should see the other guys."

Danny shakes his head, and adds, "Anyway, you know I'd help you with anything Matt. You just need to name it."

Daredevil has posed:
Matt felt like crap for bringing it all up. Like he'd somehow tarnished whatever happy glow that seemed to surround Danny 24/7.

Though, his words help, "She was," Matt says, honestly, smiling sadly before he takes in Danny's tale. "The Hand attacked you on the island?" he grimaces. "Glad you handled it, but, I'd have helped."

"Thanks," Matt says of the carte blanche offered by Danny. "Well the first part is, we're taking the fight to the Hand and I'm going to need your help, if you're willing. It's going to be messy but we've got a real chance of driving them out of the city if we act soon."

Matt adjusts his shades, before getting to the next part, which somehow he found embarassing. "And Elektra left me everything. I am not even sure where to start with that. Kind of hoping you had some wisdom to impart on that one." After all Danny had been through something similar.

Iron Fist has posed:
"I know you would have. It was nothing! I handled it. The Hand can be tough, but you and I know, they are no match for us. I can have used your help, but I know you were busy, so don't worry about it! It's all good." Danny takes a bite of his sandwich as Matt continues.

"Of course! I'm always willing to take the fight to them. Especially if it drives them out of the city." Dany nods, listening as he takes a sip of his tea. "Sure, I can take a look. We have a few others that might know things as well, maybe Colleen or Misty can help too." Danny nods, as the girl drops of Matt's sandwich and tea, asks if there was anything else, and when Danny says, "Nop thanks!" Heads back into the warmth of the cafe.

Daredevil has posed:
"Glad it was no big deal," Matt says letting out a dry 'heh', at Danny's confidence.

When the food comes, he gives a grateful nod in the direction of the waitress and then listens as she walks out of earshot.

"Great, I'd be happy for their help," he says of Colleen and Misty. "I've got a couple of people on side as well, my old teacher Stick, a new guy from Harlem," meaning not Luke. "And Richard Dragon. I've been debating asking Jessica, but, you know how she is with this hero stuff. Anyhow, want to get as many of us as we can together, maybe put together a base of operations, I'm not sure how long this fight is going to take but I want to be ready."

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny grins finishing off his sandwich with a crunch and munch and crunch. "They were just some Hand goons. Nothing to write home about." Danny says, licking the last bit of mayo off his fingers. "Mmmm. Wonder what is for dessert..." He says, absently.

Brought back into the conversation, Danny says, "Stick is around? Interesting." Danny nods, and smiles. "Yeah, Jessica can be..a bit grumpy at times. But she's always good in a fight!" A sip of tea. "Oh! If you need some funds for a BoO than I'm down with that. Any way I can help, count me in!" Danny says, with exhuberance.

Daredevil has posed:
While Danny crunches, Matt takes a sip of his tea, cycling back to the sandwich after that to take a first bite. "Not bad," he admits.

"Yeah, he showed up around when things started getting heavy with the Hand," Matt says of his old mentor. "And yeah, grouchy's the word, especially after I messed up one of her cases for her," he says with a shake of his head. "And yeah, she's good, I'll ask her, just expecting to be thrown through her door."

There's a wry smile at the thought.

"Thanks," he says of the offer of money for the base. "I can probably handle most of it, like I was saying, Elektra left me all of her money," he says. "Kinda freaking out about it. How'd you handle coming back from K'un L'un and becoming Danny Rand again?"

Iron Fist has posed:
Sitting back in the chair, Danny absorbs all that Matt is saying. The tea is now just warm, but still soothing. Smiling, Danny nods, and says, "Up to you. I know you can handle it, but that's why we're here. To help each other out." Danny says, easily and with truth behind the words. "Oh! I didn't know that! Elektra left you all her money?" Danny whistles. "Nice! Now look at you! Big City Lawyer, all rich and important!"

Danny laughs, and says, "Looks like I'll have to introduce you to the high society now, Mr. Rich!" Danny is having fun teasing Matt. Maybe too much fun. "Don't freak out. I have people that can help if you need it. You're a lawyer though, so I expect you'll be alright. As for the whole back and Danny again. Um." Danny pauses. "Well. There were speed bumps. Not easy. But I did okay. Still not really there yet, but trying!"

Daredevil has posed:
Matt nods, "Thanks for the confidence," Matt says coming back to the tea. "And yeah, I know you guys are there to help but, still feel bad bringing all this into your lives. You guys deserve to be happy," he says, before adding with a touch of a smile. "Still going to take the help though. Just saying I'm going to be guilty about it."

What else was new?

There's a "Heh," for the whistle. "Feels weird," he says. "Having money, you ever get used to it?" then there's the bit about high society. "Guess, so, funny, I've been to a few of those parties but only as a crasher looking to score a free food and some top shelf booze." A smile is given for the memory. "I might need the with some of it, but I'll know more when I sign the papers this afternoon," Matt says.

As for the rest, "I bet, but glad it didn't change you, or at least, I'm guessing not, not many guys in your tax bracket as down to Earth as you are."

Iron Fist has posed:
"No problem!" Danny says, "And don't ever feel bad. I'm pretty sure the Hand are a part of my problem, too, with my history. After all, it's what the Fist is all about! Or at least that is what everyone keeps telling me." Danny says, his smile not leaving.
"Naw. Never get used to it. I've spent most of my life training ina mystical city in another dimension, so, yeah, having money was...weird. I still sleep on the floor most nights. Money? Forget it! I don't think I'll ever get used to it..." Danny trails off with a shrug.

"Yeah, I can help you with the money bit. AT least in spending it I'm sure. A few new suits and ties, and you'll be happy!" Danny jokes. "Maybe some cool new shades from Prada or Louis Vuiton, or someone." Danny doesn't admit the only reason he knows those names are from Colleen. "ANd you are right. All the people I'm supposed to hang around with "in my tax bracket" I can't stand. I prefer you guys."

Daredevil has posed:
Matt swallows down a bite of his sandwich, "Then I'll feel less guilty about involving you then," he says with a smile before getting real for a moment. "But seriously, man, having you on side's a huge relief."

The rest is taken in between sips of tea, it really was 'wicked'. "You sleep on the floor?" Matt asks, brows raising above the shades. "And people say I beat myself up." He shakes his head, but Danny sort of did have a point about the money. Not thinking about it, it was an option, he had plenty of things on his plate, learning to be wealthy could wait. It leaves him at ease.

"Well, I am definitely thinking about a new suit," he says, but likely not the type that comes with a tie. He chuckles about the shades. "As long as they come in red," he says. Not that he could see them but at this point why break tradition.

The last bit has him raising his tea, "Well, here's not to fitting in together," Matt says in a toast. "We can get thrown out of all the best parties together."

And the two continue their lunch.
