Cast of Characters: Gambit, Rogue

Gambit has posed:
The Rogue-Gambit (Robit?) Road Trip '26 has been a hell of a thing. For the most part they've driven aimlessly westward, and on one occasion Rogue even flew the car through the air. But now they've reached their destination, Remy has sold the car on to an enterprising chop-shop owner and they are holed up in a cheap motel room waiting for a spat of winter snow to pass. Well, Remy would be if he weren't out and about somewhere. He said something about having time-sensitive business and shot out the door a couple of hours ago and hasn't made a peep since.

Rogue has posed:
And of coures Aces the dog too!

They'd had to sneak the dog into the motel since these places never allow pets for obvious reasons... because of previous bad people--thats always the reason!

So with Remy shooting out the door and leaving her in this place with the doge, Rogue just... relaxed. She took a shouwer and sorted out their stuff that they'd brought along and now she's just sitting on the bed... well, laying on it really and she's got her legs out in front of her, a pair of sleeping pants on and a tanktop, the dog is laying beside her with his head on her leg and she's just petting his head while they both lounge and watch tv.

"Where'd he go anyway?" Rogue asks Aces who looks up at her and then over at the door, then lowers his head back down to his owner lap. "Probably gotten himself inta trouble..."

Gambit has posed:
Almost on cue, the door opens, and Remy slips back inside. His heavy overcoat is dusted around the shoulders with snow, and he rubs his hands quickly to warm them up. He closes the door behind him, the howling winter wind abruptly shut off. Cheap hotel or not, the place is sealed up tight against the elements. They must know what people want when they're passing by this way.
Remy moves to sit on the end of the bed, clasping Rogue's foot with a gloved hand and wriggling it back and forth playfully. No real reason, just some contact. Their unique situation makes things almost like a long distance relationship taking place in the same room, so he takes any opportunity to reach out to her even if it is always through gloves or layers of clothes.
"Belle, I got surprise for you."

Rogue has posed:
When the door opens and the blast of cold air rushes into the room Rogue's hands go up to rub at her arms. "There he is." Rogue says to the dog companion who is also looking up to watch the man rush into motel room again. "Ya know 'Snowpocalypse' is trendin' on the internet. I think we chose a wonderful time for this little trip." She says with a sly grin. "Where the heck've ya been?"

As he sits down on the bed and wiggles one of her feet she wiggles her toes in turn and whispers softly. "Cold gloves." but when he speaks of having a surprise her green eyes look up at his face and she tilts her head, the white bangs framing her face tilt in that direction and she just has a slow grin spread over her pale pink lips.

"Is it 80 degree weather and a beach chair in the sun?" She teases him in response.

Gambit has posed:
"Could be! Could be if we play our cards right, cher," Remy says with a broad, enigmatic smile. Her whisper of 'cold gloves' prompts him to quickly draw his hand away almost as though it's been bitten. Sure, she can shrug off bullets but the last thing he wants to do is make her even mildly uncomfortable. Instead, he gets to his feet and moves over to the window. He parts the blinds, pointing outside for her to look with a conspiratorial whisper: "Come see."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue doesn't have to push herself up off of anything like the average person does, no, her flight power negates the pull of gravity and allows her to manipulate herself in space with just the thought of what she wants to do and how to do it. So she doesn't jump off the bed so much as she suddenly rises off of it and lands on her feet upon the carpetting then pads over to where he's standing. She looks first to him, her green eyed gaze studying his face for a moment before she steps to the window and helps push aside the blinds. "Dia ya lift another car?" She asks then as she does this. Aces jumps off the bed and pads over after them too, standing between them and sniffing at Remy and all the new scents he brought into the room with him.

Gambit has posed:
"Not a car, no. Well, not just a car," Remy says, still smiling that beaming smile, "An' I din't lift it. I bought it with my own hard-earned." That hard-earned being from selling stolen goods, but at least he's trying.
He reaches forward to part the curtains, so Rogue can see. Down in the hotel parking lot, taking up several parking spaces in true inconsiderate parking job fashion, is another car. A non-descript SUV with a rental company logo emblazoned on the side. What draws the eye immediately, however, is the large trailer behind it upon rests what is clearly a boat. Not a small dinghy but a genuine sailing vessel of some sort. It has been largely battened down and the deck covered with canvas, but it's easy to tell what it is from looking at it. Even from here.
    "Merry Christmas, belle."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's eyes go down to the boat on the hitch behind the SUV and she hears his words then after a second she does a double-take, an actual legit double-take. "Holy shit." The Southern Belle says in response to the man. "That looks... thats a boat!" She speaks a little louder and Aces takes a step back, he barks and then turns around to run over to his food dish because he likes to eat when he's uncomfortable.

Rogue puts one of her ungloved/bare hands onto Remy's clothing covered bicep. "You bought a boat?" She turns to face him then, having to look up at him, her white and brown hair was recently brushed so its laying straight and fine around her head as she looks up at him.

"In the middle'a winter." She flashes a grin then at him. She shakes her head right to left. "I don't know anything about boats. Do you?"

Gambit has posed:
"Non," Remy admits, looking a little sheepish at her question, "I mean, I been on boats before. I figure we learn. You be cap'n, I be first man - what's de word? Mate. First mate. Aces be de ad'mral tell us both what to do."
He lifts up his own gloved hand to pat hers, "Buyin' it in de middle a winter and from a dealer who live dis far from the ocean is why I get it so cheap. I figure we take it back home, park it there an' we get practicin'."
He looks a little conspiratorial, "Maybe we find an old sea dog and you can - " He mimes putting his hands on either side of an invisible head and makes a slurping noise, imitating her absorbing skills and memories.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue gives his shoulder a slap when she suggests she should absorb someone with sea knowledge. "Stop that." She says with a little grin before she glances over to the dog. "Ya think that sounds like fun, Admiral Aces?" The German Shephard shoots his head up and looks at both of them while licking his lips from the food he just inhaled.

Rogue looks back at Remy and just grins at him. She places both of her dangerously bare hands onto his covered elbows and nods her head at him. "That sounds like a lotta fun though! I went t'a boatshow last year in Westchester... it uh, didn't go so well, but before all the shit went down it was great!" Her head shakes right to left and she looks back outside to stare down at it. "I'd ya know, go out there t'look at it if the world weren't about to be frozen solid."

Gambit has posed:
"It'll still be there when the snow stops," Remy promises, not flinching from her bare hands. He's been around her so long now that even the extreme danger her bare skin poses doesn't phase him. He trusts her well enough to take care, and if by some accident she does sap some of his life away then at least he gets to wake up from his coma to her. Silver linings and all that. That said, he turns around and sits down on the end of the bed, "Now, I know it's a big purchase an' you at school and Avengin' an' we can't just go sailin'. But ... well, I tink sometime you need a bit of a break. You got a lot restin' on you even if you are super-strong."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue walks over to the table where her leather duffle bag is with her clothing and she picks up a pair of long black gloves, they're evening gown attire but she wears them so often that they're everyday attire for her. She starts to slide them onto her hands and work them up her arms... careful not to rip them since she can rip her clothing so darn easily, something she does all to regularly, or did for the first several years of having stolen Carol's powers.

Rogue walks back over to him then and she slides her gloves on and then leans down to place her gloved first two fingers against his lips, she kisses the back of her own fingers then to simulate a kiss to the man who'd just bought them a boat.

"You're a sweet heart." She says then, after giving this 'safe kiss' and then she leans back once more. "And 'sides, even if we get inta boat trouble, I can just fly us back t'shore. So no harm, no foul. We'll be fiiiiine." She glance sover to Aces who's looking at her, then at Remy. "Probably." And Aces just barks once.

Gambit has posed:
Remy lays back and props himself up on his elbows and watches as the gloves come out. He smiles a little bit to himself, perhaps quietly proud that he managed to nail the grand romantic gesture - something he is not all that good at. When she gives him the kiss-by-proxy, he rests both of his still-gloved hands on her hips to draw her a little closer to him. Still mindful of where skin might accidentally meet skin.
"I know, I know," Remy says with a grin, "I'm de best. An' way I see it, we fight deadly assassins and fellas with super powers on a regular basis. We handle a little sailin' here an' dere no problem. An' you right, if we get in trouble we got de world's greatest superhero right here." He prods her with a gloved finger to illustrate his point.

Rogue has posed:
"Wonder Woman is here?!" Rogue asks as she looks around the room mockingly, trying to find the Amazon in fancy armor. She then just looks back at him and grins at the man's bravado. "I can literally see your ego inflating before my very eyes." She says at him softly. "But thats okay, as long as you keep gettin' me unexpectedly wonderful surprises, then we'll be great." She's teasing of course, she has everything she wants and thats something she never thought she'd get, especially at such a young age. Then again though, the past year has aged her quite a lot. She was even still stealing for weeks after joining Xavier's, though she only ever stole from criminals...

Rogue moves to sit beside him on the bed and Aces comes over to stand beside her for pettings, moving to lay down beside the bed himself moments later. "This has been fun, chalk full'a unexpected twists'n turns, but every good vacation is supposed t'be like that right? Means we remember them for forever." She smiles at him, watching closely. "Only got a handful'a hours left though before we gotta head back."

Gambit has posed:
"That ain't my ego," Remy jokes, flopping back down to rest alongside her on the bed and stare up at the ceiling. He listens to her in silence, nodding quietly and seeming lost deep in thought, "You're right, belle. If you want to fly back an' save time, I take Aces and the boat." Something in his voice and faces suggests he would rather she didn't, but he knows he can't have her all to himself. She's got a lot to share with the world and he knows it.
"Drop him off at your 'partment, then go see about putting dis boat in de water."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue moves to pick up her hoodie off of the chair beside the bed and she slides it on as well while he talks, to cover up her bare arms. A few seconds later and she's laying down beside him on the bed and on her side to face him , her gloved hands up so she can put them under her cheek and keep them close to her bare skinned face just in case she needs to block her oh-so-dangerous skin there.

"I ain't gonna abandon you two." She says back at him, grinning softly at the little joke he'd made about that not being his ego that had grown. "Its too cold out t'do that." She teases him back and then reaches a gloved hand over to lay it on his chest.

"I'll ride back with ya both, whenever, and if it gets too close t'class time I can jet then and only then. Or just ask for my hokework through email. My professors understand, they know all about the Avenger stuff. Mosta them are constantly askin' me for stories about it all, or for Black Widow's phone number." She keeps her grin then and just watches him.

Gambit has posed:
"I wouldn't guess her to have a phone number," Remy says thoughtfully, peering up at the ceiling for a moment, "I figure she jus' sort of spring out de shadows at you if you say her name three time."
That said, he turns his attention back to her, "Well, I'm glad to here you won't be takin' off too soon." He lies on his side also, face to face with her - almost nose to nose, except he knows to keep a respectable distance just in case. Her in her hoody and gloves, him still rugged up against the winter chill. "And 'sides, too dark an' too cold to drive. I'll set an alarm an' we go first thing tomorrow mornin'."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just holds a warms mile and she moves to lay her head down on his shoulder. "Sounds like a plan, Stan." She says to him as she curls up beside him on the bed. The Thief and his lady who shall not be touched. "Besides, I think these places call _us_ at like nine in the mornin' and tell us we need t'get the hell out or they're gonna come in with spray bottles and starts sprayin' for us like we're insects." She grins just a little and reaches up to brush some of her hair out of her face. "Least thats how it went down last time I was in one'a these places."

A breath is taken in then and she feels a cold wet nose dabbing at the small of her back, her hoodie and shirt having exposed enough skin where the German Shephad can poke at her and since he's not a human/mutant he doesn't get absorbed! (thankfully!).

"Oh god. Aces wants t'go on a walk." She says, and the dog immediately barks happily.
