Titans: Recruitment Drive part 97567
Date of Scene: 05 December 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Ultragirl visits Titans tower. Kar'ras fights a probe and attempts to hug Raven. Raven doesn't actually kill him. Stardust attempts to be adult about it all, and only partially fails.
Cast of Characters: Stardust, Kar'ras, Raven, Ultragirl

Stardust has posed:
It had been snowing earlier, but the skies have cleared and the evening has warmed a little. This, reasons Stardust, means it is a perfect opportunity to go onto the roof and make things explode.

The things exploding are small, disposable drones. There are a dozen or so of them flying over the roof in random patterns. The reason for them exploding is in Stardust's hands, a ridiculously oversized blaster rifle of Apokaliptian manufacture, one of the items of contraband from the invasion that has been passed safe (in relative terms) and remained in Titan's storage.

Stardust, in her grey and white regular-irregular costume (apart from the colors, it changes every day), is not the best shot, though wreckage on the roof shows she's got a few hits already. Getting more hits is of course why she's getting some practice in. Other people might get practice target practice at a range with smaller, more sensible guns. Other people are not Stardust.

    She's clearly having fun.

Kar'ras has posed:
Kar'ras flies onto the roof and watches the woman shoot drones. "Darkseid invaded earth?" Kar'Ras asks as he watches the rifle in the woman's hands. "How did you manage to repel him and steal his weaponry?" He asks curiously as he watches the woman shoot.

Raven has posed:
A short distance away, around one of the corners, Raven had set up a small radius of tranquility during the snowstorm. There is a circle of bare concrete on the top of the roof, with Raven at its direct center. Here she is ever so softly floating a few feet above the ground. There was peace, and tranquility, and for a moment there was the sort of silence on the roof that is altogether typical... Except for today. Today, Colette is practicing her marksmanship.

The first few explosions merely bother her. The next set visibly irk her, and the third, the third cause a puff of snow to erupt around her as she takes off, flying towards Colette.

    "Could. You. Not?!"

Ultragirl has posed:
She had been invited technically. Starfire had told her to stop by and so she was flying this way now that she had a free afternoon. Of course, the eplosions had her speeding up. She arrives with a burst of speed, wind and snow whipping up as she lands and looks around quickly at the drones and then at Stardust. She blinks a few times at her and then at the gun. Then Kar'ras arrives and then Raven makes her presence known. Suzy shifts a little uncomfortably and then states, "Umm, Hi." She waves a hand, "I'm Ultragirl. Starfire invited me." She nods her head, "You guys...aren't under attack then?"

Stardust has posed:
Stardust lowers her gun, and starts staring. First at Kar'ras, then at Raven, then at Ultragirl. She sighs, walks across the roof to where a controller is placed on the ground, and deactivates the drones, making them all fly back to a crate. She puts the gun in the crate, and walks back, looking a thte three again.

"Yes Kar'ras," Colette starts. "He invaded. I kicked him in the nuts, then Cassie pushed him into a boom tube we opened to nobody knows where. Then some crows came and pecked his parademon minions to death, and we picked up the dropped weaponry. I hope that explains everything."

"Yes, Raven. I'm sorry. I picked the roof because I thought to myself, 'Hey, where can I blow things up without disturbing Raven? Outside, that's a good idea.' Apparently I was wrong. I can indeed not."

Finally Stardust turns to Ultragirl, who she left to last because random flying people turning up on your roof requires more thought. "Hello Ultragirl. I'm Stardust. We were being attacked by a horde of dangerous drones, but the threat is over thanks to Raven's timely intervention. I'm not sure what Starfire told you, but just in case of misunderstandings, this is not a mustard refinery. It's Titan's Tower." She looks around again. "Does that answer everything?"

Raven has posed:
Raven had expected more of a fight out of Colette. She floats there for a few moments and goes from her nigh-combative pose to a more relaxed one, lowering herself into the snow and placing her hands into her pockets. For a moment, it seems like a retreat inward, and she takes a look around- finding that she's suddenly surrounded by a few unfamiliar faces.

"It's just... In the future, you might consider whether or not you are alone on the roof before you engage in any sort of combative practice. For safety, if... Nothing else." She notes this, her head turning to Ultragirl. "Welcome to the tower." Her voice is dreary, monotonous, yet possessing this rough, lilting quality that sounds a little otherworldly- and for the uninitiated, can be a little creepy.

Kar'ras has posed:
"You must be the one called Raven! Koriand'r told me all about you!" He says as he walks over to Rachel and gives her a big hug, or atleast attempting to, lift her. "I am Kar'ras of Tamaran. I am one of the new titans. Atleast I hope I am. Amarok has been trying to get me a part of the team so I can quit leeching off the team's resources."

Ultragirl has posed:
"I suppose." She replies to Colette and shifts her stance a little, "And while I imagine a mustard refinery actually might be interesting mainly because I'm not sure how they make mustard, no. I was told this was Titan's Tower and she suggested I come here." She nods her head and then looks over at Raven and smiles at her, "Thank you." She is kinda not too off put by the voice, what with having somewhat recently finding out she is some kind of alien Messiah, it kinda ruins a lot of things as surprising. She looks to Kar'ras and then at Raven before considering to herself, "Well, umm, I'm Ultragirl. As I said. Ultra cool to be here and I am not sure where to go from here but as I said. She recommended I come here. Mentioned a possible interview or something?"

Stardust has posed:
"It's a big roof!" Stardust tells Raven, looking slightly sulky. "And I was pointing up. You were not up. If you were up, I would have seen you. Besides, you haven't..." her tirade is interrupted by Kar'ras attempt to embrace Raven. She turns away, standing between Ultragirl and the other two, holding her arms out wide. "Don't look! This could get ugly."

The arms are rapidly dropped back down again, perhaps Stardust is not too serious. More likely she's just bored of the pose and fully expects horrendous bloodshed, or at least a scary portal to nether dimensions to erupt behind her. Instead she offers her hand to Ultragirl, along with a broad grin. "Oh, a prospect. Hi, and welcome to Titans Tower. We appear to be on a recruitment drive at the moment, so... yeah. You're lucky, if you'd met Moon Moon, he'd have probably interviewed you by putting you in a room full of possessed chainsaws or something. Um... well let's start with like... what do you do, why are you interested in joining the Titans, etcetera?" A smirk breaks out across her face. "You can tell I have a lot of experience with holding interviews, can't you?"

Raven has posed:
Raven is many things. Someone you should touch, she is not. Raven is paying attention to Colette, and Kar'ras' sudden affection comes out of nowhere... But is -entirely- unwelcome. There is a shrill noise- not particularly loud, but like an accelerated chime in the wind. This sound heralds her disappearance into her soul-self, as she phases harmlessly through Kar'ras and appears a few feet away.

Her focus is entirely on Kar'ras, at that point- the words Colette had said to her were forgotten. "I did not invite you to touch me!" she cries, her voice carrying a minor echo. It is... Disconcerting. "I would thank you to never assume that contact is acceptable. I do not care how closely you are related to Starfire." There is a... Howling wind, that kicks up then. The snow starts to flurry around for a few moments, as Raven reacts to being touched.

It is over soon after, her anger at the contact dying down to a minor simmer, yet unlike the other times she has reacted so poorly, Raven does not apologize immediately following. It seems that physicality is a problem.

Kar'ras has posed:
"My most Sincerest apologies..." Kar'ras says as he looks to the soul self image of the woman and tries to turn to the others. He raises a hand. "I am Kar'ras of Tamaran. I am a commoner compared to Starfire." Kar'ras tries to explain. "I will-" He says as he turns for a moment and looks up into the sky. "You all may wanna...hide." He says as he stares at something in the sky.

Ultragirl has posed:
A look over at Colette and she smiles, "Well, I can..." She pauses as she hears the sounds and sights of Raven. She stares at her a moment before tilting her head to the side, "That's...normal." She states in a totally calm way and clears her throat. She looks over at Colette, "Well, that was an exciting moment." She then looks to Kar'ras, "And good to meet...you." SHe then looks up and then back at him, "Hide?" She floats up a little and looks over at him, "I'm Ultragirl, I don't really do the hiding thing."

Stardust has posed:
"That's normal," Stardust agrees. "Things like that happen at all times around here. You get used to it. Raven doesn't like being touched, perhaps I should mention that. Sensible people ask first, because Raven is Raven. Then she says 'no'. "

Stardust turns to Kar'ras with an eyebrow raised. "Kar'ras. I often get an urge to hide when a Tamaranean walks into the room, just in case one of you forgot to get dressed. However you have pants on, so I have nothing to worry about." However she does go to fetch her Apokaliptian blaster cannon again, then stands close to him and peers up into the sky. "Do you see something? I only see clouds. Do you have clouds on Tamaran? They're fine. The clouds won't bite you."

Kar'ras has posed:
A Machine comes down from the skies and scans Ultragirl and flies away from the girl and floats infront of Kar'ras. A light covers the alien and he quickly punches through the machine which causes sparks to fly as he trips it apart into pieces, growling as he stomps on the computer board. "Great....Now my master knows I am here." Kar'ras says as he looks to the others. "I need to leave. If I remain he will kill all of you." He says as he begins to float into the air.

Ultragirl has posed:
A blink as she is scanned and then she looks over at Kar'ras and then blinks again. She looks to Colette briefly and hten looks to Kar'ras, "Umm." She shifts in her spot a little and then looks down at the thing before looking over at Kar'ras, "You have to go because...wait you have a master? That seems." She frowns, "Innappropriate. Is this like a student teacher thing or are you a slave?" She then looks down at the device that was destroyed before looking up at the sky, "Also...I'm not entirely sure I can be killed so there's that."

Stardust has posed:
Stardust blinks as the probe is punched into oblivion. She walks back to the box and returns the blaster cannon. "Okay. That happened." She returns, dusting off her hands. "That gun needs a dusting. Um. Yeah he's an escaped slave. They do things differently in space. Space is weird. Kinda fun though. There was this one time that..." she stops herself, and glance sover to Kar'ras. "Point of order, we don't generally destroy vistitors until we've said hello, and at least given them the opportunity to surrender. I get the whole robot probe thing, but you never can tell." She raises a finger. "Second point of order, you're supposed to be here for safety, remember? I mean that was the whole thing. Wherever you go, it's not likely to be as safe as being here, is it? So, that would be kind of dumb." She raises another finger, then looks at her hand, and raises her third finger. "Third point, he can try, and then I'll kick his ass. Does that clarify everything?" She lowers her hand, shakes her head, and stalks away a little.

Stardust turns back, another point occuring to her. "Also, Ultragirl here wanted an interview, you could have let her beat up the robot probe thing. Then we could have seen what she can do. Think first, next time!"

Kar'ras has posed:
"My master raised me from an infant to invade worlds and kill the indingenious species so we can use their resources. This continued until about 4 years ago when one of the races I was sent to kill taught me that killing was wrong. My master killed them and I been running away from him since. When I left I thought he had an army of Tamaraneans from Queen Kormand'r to experiment on and I wouldnt be noticed so quickly. If I stay I will get everyone killed." He then looks to Colette and nods. "I am sorry Stardust. You are right." He says as he watches Tsu-zana. "I am sorry, I was being rude."

Ultragirl has posed:
A look over at Stardust and she blinks before looking then to Kar'ras and hten she looks to the side, "Wow, you guys are really open about...things." She nods her head and then she looks over at the pile of what is left of the probe and then she leans down and pokes at it, "I also could have taken it apart." She nods her head, "Probably. Maybe. I did it once." She shrugs, "To a robot that is." She then looks over at Kar'ras and tilts her head, "You were trained to kill...entire races?" She then shakes her head, "Ok, one thing at a time. Umm, I'm Ultragirl. I want to be a Titan because, well, it seems like a good place for me. I'm kinda new to all this. I'm trying to be a a great heroine known throughout the world but I'm also...not sure I relaly feel heroic." She shrugs, "That being said, I'm strong, fast, tough, and I might be able to heal from anything." She nods, "Of course, my only major example is being set on fire and burning nearly my entire body and well...I was back to normal ultra fast. And kinda immune to fire."

Stardust has posed:
Stardust stares at Kar'ras for a few moments, then shakes her head. "Didn't I point out like five minutes ago that we kicked Darkseid's ass and sent him packing? Your boss is toast if he tries anything. However you're free now, not a slave. If you wanna go, go. Just don't come back here and complain if you get killed. "

"Soooo." Stardust turns back to Ultragirl, and when her face is no longer visible to Kar'ras she gives a grin and a shrug. "All those reasons sound... uh... reasonable. I mean that's pretty much what the Titans is about. Being new, figuring stuff out together." She looks thoughtful for a moment. "I'm not sure about the known throughout the world thing though. That's kind of a pain. You get a certain amount of additional attention from being in a group like the Titans. We're considered newsworthy. And then there's the cape-spotters. One great thing about this group is the Tower. On an island. Fewer people come to gawp. I mean there's probably someone with a long lens over on the far bank taking blurry photos of us right now, but they never get much. Personally I'm kinda happy with the fact that my herowiki dot com page is full of categories saying 'unknown'. Actually I've got at least four other pages that I know of which have 'unknown heroine' as a title. I change outfit a lot, it confuses people. Wait here, I'll be right back."

Without another word, Stardust turns her back and enters the tower. A minute or so later, she returns with something that she hands over to Ultragirl. "Here. It's a communicator. Limited version, but you can call us on it. We should give you like... a test or something. Some of the guys are keen on that. Uh. My test is if you can figure out the push to talk stuff. I'm pretty sure you can."

Ultragirl has posed:
Looking at the girl, she nods her head at the responses and then blinks. A moment later she has a device in hand and she smiles, "A communicator. Neat." She nods her head, "It's push to talk?" She looks up and then hmms, "No texting?" She then considers and shrugs, "SUppose that isn't necessarily as fast." She then slides it away and looks over at the distance toward where someone might be taking pictures before looking back, "A test? Like the chainsaw thing you mentioned earlier? I'm not sure chainsaws would be much of a threat. Even possessed flying ones probably not much." She shrugs, "But if they want a test, I'm fine with that."

Stardust has posed:
"This is just the basic model," Stardust explains. "It's like an emergency help thingy. The full model has extra gizmos in it." She blinks a couple of times. "Gizmos is a good word. And no, probably not possessed chainsaws. I'm pretty sure we don't have any. Word of advice though, if you do see some? It's almost certainly Vorpal messing around. It's the kind of thing he might do. So you're chainsaw proof? That's useful. Word of warning though, don't boast too much about it. People get upset and start saying things like 'It's all very well for you Stardust, we're not bulletproof.' But yeah. Test would be good. Probably Robin or Moon Moon will want you do detect something or stop something exploding. They're kinda like that."

Stardust looks around, trying to figure out what else to say, then gives a shrug of her shoulders. "So. Uh. Call me Colette, I get really bored with the whole codename thing, and I'm bad at it so I'll probably blab that at any moment anyway. Wanna come take a look around? I guess I could give you the tour."

Ultragirl has posed:
"Oh, sure!" She states and nods her head, "I'm fine with whatever they want but yeah. I'm not sure. Things still hurt but they don't work well." She nods, "And the one thing that really really hurt me, well, I healed it in minutes so." She shrugs, "I really don't know what kind of proof I am." She then considers, "Oh and...I see things different than most people. It's ultra cool, though took getting used to it." She then looks around the roof, "I definitely wouldn't mind seeing inside."
