Cast of Characters: Captain Marvel (Danvers), Green Lantern (Cruz), Ares

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
It's easy to get pulled in one way or another with the many hats that Carol Danvers has to wear, but no matter how much is on her plate, she eventually manages to cover it all. That's why tonight, Captain Marvel asked for a meeting with a Green Lantern, under her capacity as Director of Alpha Flight. While Earth took the brunt of it, the Astral Flux events has cosmos relating elements.

Carol set the meeting to the great lawn infront of the NY Library, and she's easily enough spotted from the air, wearing her bright colored costume. Blue, red and gold.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
The good captain was probably expecting Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, or John Stewart to join her. She didn't get any of them. What arrived was... a female human Green Lantern, recently arrived back from Oa as she lands, the Lantern logo flickering in the air around her as she settles. "Captain Marvel? Hello, I am Green Lantern," she notes, extending her hand. She isn't exactly wearing a mask - she is wearing the typical Lantern uniform, but her main 'decoration' is the bright Lantern symbol glowing aroung her right eye. "You wished to speak to me?"

Ares has posed:
Well, Ares was just walking along the lawn. He was dressed in relatively casual clothes so as not to stick out. But the God of War wore just some simple New York style attire. Jacket, jeans, shirt, boots. Even a fedorah to be fun. But!

Ares looks up though, spotting the Lantern and Captain Marvel. "Oh geez...convenient place to meet." he mumbles to himself, wondering if he just came upon a strange kind of patrol.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Captain Marvel is the least bit fazed by meeting a woman of the Green Lantern Corps, if anything, it's a welcome change. All it takes is one meeting with Guy Gardner to invoke the need to meet another Green Lantern, preferably female. "Indeed, I have." She acknowledges with a firm handshake, "have news reached Oa about the nature of what was affecting the Astral Plane?"

She does look aside to Ares when he approaches, incling her to him, "you have a strange habit of happening by important discussions. Perhaps I should schedule for an actual office next time."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz blinks. "Ummmmm... I don't know much about the Astral Plane, admittedly. "I'm rather new to being ain interstellar cop." Immediately, a British-sounding male voice comes from her hand. "The Astral Plane is the realm of telepathy..." She slaps her hand with the other. "Quiet, Anillo. Don't show off." She glances over at Ares. "Ummmm.... hello?" she asks uncertainlhy. "I don't think the Guardians really monitor such plane, and if someone in the Corps knows about it, they haven't told me. Kinda low on the totem pole."

Ares has posed:
Ares looks up to Captain Marvel, giving her a little smirk. "Well, it's probably smart to do so." Nobody's seen his face, so his transformation probably isn't very shocking. His clothes seem to be covered in shadow, and when the shadow leaves? It's the same pitch black, all-covering body armor wit ha tattered cape hanging from his shoulders. A hood over his head that seems to be part of the cloak as he flies upwards towards Carol and Jessica.

"That way I don't have to keep finding you. Speaking of which, I'm not even sure if we've been introduced." he says to Carol, before he looks to Jessica. They speak of the Astral Plane. the Flux. "Interesting."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"I see...I'm sure they can tell you all about it on Oa, it is a realm that exists in thought, that is to say, a mysterious telepathic realm that has no physical manifestation. Meaningless to most of us, but a dangerous tool at the hands of telepaths." Carol gives Jessica the very brief tl;dr introduction to the concept, "and it was recently rattled by a chain of very unlikely events."

When Ares joins them, Carol extends her hands, "oh we've met before, but granted, it was before a lot of grave events shook the Earth. I am Captain Marvel," she introduces by her codename just in case the prior meeting was forgotten.

Looking back at Jessica Cruz, she does relate, "I've no doubt you have heard of the Infinity Stones, correct?"

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Yes, a series of six artifacts that have incalculable power... the Celestials might've used them in the beginning of time. The Guardians have coveted them - as much asthey can feel anything - for as long as Anillo can remember. And that's a long service record there." She glances over at the stranger. "Ummmm, hi? I'm Green Lantern."

Ares has posed:
Ares looks at Captain Marvel, extending his hands to give her a handshake in return. "Ares, God of War." The Greek God of War? Huh. regardless, Ares kept his attention on her. "You know of the Infinity Stones? How have you come by this knowledge?" Ares looked almost alarmed. The number of people possibly going for the Stones are subtly increasing. It might be time for a culling.

But!

His eyes look to Jessica. "Hi. The Infinity Stones were made at the beginning of everything. Meant to be the tools of the management of creation..or it's undoing. If all of the stones are gathered? Destruction on levels hitherto unheard of will happen."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"In that case I'm sure they'll be interested to hear that one such stone was involved in the events of the Astral Flux, I thought the Green Lantern Corps would appreciate the information," Captain Marvel says solemnly to Jessica, before turning her attention on Ares.

"You're the God of War, why don't you tell me?" Marvel is quick to make a quip, despite Ares grave reaction, before noting, "I'm the Director of Alpha Flight, among other things, Alpha Flight is charged with protecting the Earth from alien threats. The Infinity Stones are as alien an artifact as it gets..."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods slowly. "I know of it because I've had long talks with Anillo - my ring is one of the oldest. I will look into it and file a report to the Guardians." She nods slowly. "And as always, if you need me for heping with Alpha Flight, I gave you a means to contact me. May not be able to due to other obligations but I'll try." She smiles as she bows, then flies away.

Ares has posed:
Ares looks Carol in the eyes, appearing unamused. "I can't. I'm a War God. if you want knowledge, go find my sister." Athena, being the Goddess of Wisdom. Either way, his eyes fall upon her even now, before he watches Jessica fly away.

His attention is quickly back on Carol. "Interesting. You have no idea what the Stones are capable of. If someone manages to retrieve the Stone, it should be hidden, where no one will ever find it."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol nods after Jessica when she departs, and then turns fully to face Ares, "Green Lanterns...just like the police, just on a cosmic scale."

"You would think so...but then, it only means you have never heard of me," Carol offers with a cocky grin, "I've a very broad portfolio of experiences and travels in my history, and until very recently, the Mind Stone was in the hands of the Shadow King, as he wrecked havoc on Earth's people, and the Astral Plane, the Avengers, X-Men and Doctor Strange and his people helped put a stop to him. At least we think so for the time being..."

Ares has posed:
Ares looks at Carol almost exhasperatedly. "Overconfidence doesn't aid the task at hand, no matter how good it makes you look." what, he HAD to. she was pretty. "What do you mean, until recently? Who is in possession of such a powerful tool?" he looked concerned.

This was a universe-scale problem.

"I'm glad he was stopped."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"You accuse me of overconfidence on what grounds, God of War?" Carol asks with an arched brow, smile still lingering on her lips, enough to make Tony Stark proud. She holds two fingers to her forehead, giving Ares a short version salute, "exactly, until recently, and it was an alien. See, things get complex once Earth got open to the cosmos at large. You should confer with Athena more often, or otherwise do as the God of Thunder does, work with groups such as the Avengers. We get stuff done."

Ares has posed:
"The grounds of your own speech." Ares shakes his head. "I work better alone. Besides, you and your avengers or alpha flight or whatever you call yourselves are probably going to be the unwitting cause of catastrophy at some point or another." Civil War foreshadowing?

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"I would say you need to listen better," Carol says off handedly at the remark, before tilting her head just a bit in puzzlement, "like we were when we dealt with a villain carrying an infinity stone that you were unaware was affecting people all across the Earth? Telepaths were up in arms about how they were unable to access the Astral Plane, and those who were by and large were turned to his side..." clearly, Captain Marvel does not appreciate the derision after a very big victory. Particularly with the toll it took, what with the Avengers' Mansion being destroyed.

"I'd say working better alone is a form of hubris and overconfidence all its own, so why dish if you partake?"

Ares has posed:
"I simply know what I can do and what I can't. Besides, I had better things to do, like making sure my kid son was safe from whatever that monster was. You already had more than enough hands on deck." Ares says simply with a shrug. "Do not assume I was unaware, girl. I've lived before Mankind discovered the Wheel." he shakes his head. "More like it keeps people from getting in the way. I'm the God of War, not the God of Teamwork. But you have not answered my question: Where is the Infinity Stone? I pray it is with the Sorcerer Supreme and not with the leader of one of the factions that came to help."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"As do I," Captain Marvel offers in even tones, before looking a bit surprised, "you have a kid? Didn't know that about the God of War, who is he? Anything like Thor?"

"I'm very happy for you," Carol says as she rolls with the statements, "but I hope you'd noticed I am a woman. Unless you meant to be derisive? Or was that dismissive?"

"How am I to know you do not covet the stone for yourself?" Carol gives the short form of why she shouldn't answer that question, particularly when asked by one named God of War. "Actually...now would be a very bad time for the Sorcerer Supreme to have it."

Ares has posed:
"I do have son. He's but a child now. The age of 7, in human years. I fear he might be, in which case, until he learns wisdom, we will all be in trouble." he chuckles almost whistfully, though on her comment on herself hopefully being noticed as a woman, Ares gives her a once over. "I sure hope you're a woman. Otherwise, you grew extremely early." Ares was a blunt douchebag, sometimes. but he seems to be having something of a weirdly semi-pleasant conversation with Carol.

"Thank you. I'm happy too...it's why I haven't been on the world stage that much. I have things that are important to me." when asked why she should trust him, he shakes his head.

"Not even I am foolish enough to think I can use an Infinity Stone wisely. No creature, living or dead, should possess such an object. "How so? I hear he was somehow wrapped up in all of this."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"So why refer to me as 'girl'?" Carol asks with a grin on her face, "I don't go around calling you 'boy', that would be disrespectful." She makes no comment of Ares' son, as she said before, she knows herself well. That is one area she has no advise to give anyone about. At his answer, she nods in concurrence, "likewise with me."

When the talk turns to her quip about the Sorcerer Supreme, she motions for a lock and key over her lips, "you should visit the Sanctum and see what Wong might tell you. I'm not privy to share such information without Doctor Strange's explicit consent."

Ares has posed:
"Because you made assumptions about my activities. Never make assumptions." Ares apparently considers such things rude. Repayment with repayment, before he shakes his head and seems to nod in approval. "Looks like I have some investigating to do either way." he looks to the horizon. "I should be going." he looks back to Carol.

"I enjoyed our talk." he gives a nod...before seemingly fading with the breeze. disappearing completely and going gods know where.
