Cast of Characters: Grant Ward, Melinda May

Grant Ward has posed:
As he promised her he would a few days before, Grant makes his way to the director's office and knocks lightly on the door. He's a man of many faces, depending on the situation. He can laugh and joke and play board games... or he can be deadly serious. Today he seems to be wearing his "Concerned Agent" face, and carrying his cell phone. "Thank you for making time to see me ma'am," He says calmly, "I felt I should bring this to you directly."

Melinda May has posed:
May looks up from the reports she's working on when she hears the knock. "Come in." She lets Agent Ward explain his reason for approaching, then nods. "Is this something that requires immediate action?"

She gestures to one of the chairs on the other side of the desk she's at, inviting the younger agent to have a seat. "If not, begin at the beginning."

Grant Ward has posed:
Grant Ward nods and takes the seat, pushing the phone towards the center of the desk. "I'll let this speak for itself, ma'am." he says hitting the button to activate the speaker phone and voice mail. A few moments later the voice of John Garrett comes out. "Kid, I've got to be quick. I may have an in into The Light organization. They're looking to actively recruit someone in the SHIELD hierarchy. They'd think you'd be working as a double agent for them, but the information you could bring back to SHIELD could be invaluable. Get back to me through the usual method with your answer. Talk it over with your CO. Shit I got to go." the call ends and Ward looks to May as if to say, "And there you go."

Melinda May has posed:
The Light. They've been a thorn in SHIELD's side for a while. This kind of intelligence gathering is Garrett's speciality, and Ward has proven to be one of the senior agent's best proteges. It all makes sense. She checks a couple of things on the computer next to her, then looks at Grant again and nods.

"How much do you know about The Light currently, Ward?" She suspects that he's already done some research, but she wants to be sure that he's going in with as complete a picture as possible.

Grant Ward has posed:
Grant Ward says, "Bad people wanting to do bad things," and pinches the bridge of his nose, a nervous tick for when he is thinking, "They basically fancy themselves the Illuminati. Rich and power trying to consolidate power amongst themselves. Not unlike Hydra, except to my understanding not as militant."

Melinda May has posed:
May nods. "That's a good nutshell." She goes on to explain more about The Light to Grant, even pulling some previous mission reports to corroborate what she's telling him.

"In other words," she sums up, "mission approved. Contact Garrett and let him know, then compile a list of everything you think you'll need and get back to me with that along with the time frame that Garrett suggests for your insertion."

Grant Ward has posed:
Grant Ward nods, though he hesitates. "Not to belabor the obvious, but I'm going to have to give them something. And probibly something juicy." he says as he slips his phone back into his pocket. "Classified at least, I'd leave it to you to decide what." He reaches out to shake her hand.

Melinda May has posed:
May sits back and considers. What manner of intel can she let slip that WON'T be too dangerous. But then Grant offers a handshake, and she leans forward again to shake his hand. "I'll have something ready for you by the time you get back to me."

And even though Grant is Garrett's best and brightest, she has every intention of keeping a close eye on him during all of this to make sure he doesn't get into that organization too deeply. It's a risk every time someone goes deep cover.

Grant Ward has posed:
Grant Ward stands, pushes the chair in slightly and heads out of the office. He hesitates at the door for just a moment, as though he were going to say or ask something else, but then proceeds to head out of the office to let the woman go back to work. He's aware too that she'll be watching his back, but when heading into Indian country, who better then the Calvary to be watching you.

Melinda May has posed:
May watches Grant hesitate then proceed on his way. She makes a mental note to ask him about it when he returns. Until then, she needs to go touch base with Fury to see if there's any intel he's already got earmarked for this kind of situation. He nearly always does.

Typing a quick message into her computer then locking it down, she also leaves her office a few moments after Ward, both to speak with Fury and to check on the goings-on in the Operations area in general.
