It's cold, damp. The snow that fell a few days ago has since melted and the streets glisten with the remaining wet. Clouds have blanketed the sky for days and sunlight has been bleak, at best. But the city carries on. The people still go about their business, day in, day out. And at night, that business often falls to the corrupted. Where the weak come out and pretend that they are strong. Casting longer shadows of fear where there were none.

It's the 44th street development. In the Gotham district of Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. The buildings in this district have all aged and through those years of neglect, have become the core of criminal activity within the Kitchen. The 15 floor tenant building doubles not only to serve a housing for the overcrowding lower income families, but also to give rise to small businesses on the bottom floors. Most, if not all of those businesses have shutters or bars guarding, protecting the glass and weaker areas from unlawful entry. All the while, the sidewalks have the homeless and other indigents whom litter those walkways with their shopping carts, their street shelters, and other temporary home trappings. Many of them were considered missing persons at one time or another. Some are wanted criminals for petty larceny or destruction of property. None are so bold to draw too much attention themselves. Otherwise, they would be living in Rikers, and not free. Would that be any worse?

Tonight, like any other night, finds Jessica walking home after a long day of doing what she does. Josie's Bar is closed for the evening. So it's probably best that it be time to go home. Or, stumble upon something untoward.

Beneath W45th Street, tracks run underground and perpendicular. Normal noises of those tracks are nothing more than trains clackity clacking through. However, tonight is different. There's a horrific scream. Not of a woman, but of a man. It is emanating from the tunnel beneath the street. Followed by the man's shrill voice, "Mr Chemistro. Please, no! I know I don't have the money. But I just mean I don't have the money on me. I can get it!"

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica doesn't much like the cold weather, she has to bundle much more about herself, the coat, the thicker gloves, the thicker scarf. When it really gets cold, some thermals, it really is a bother. A lot of people love the snow, particularly in Christmas time, but to Jessica, it's just the worst time of the year. Almost as bad as Valentine's. It's a shame bars are closing, because Jessica can't remember if she managed to restock on some booze in her apartment or not, she'll have to go drawers and hiding spot exploring.

But her plans get derailed at the sound of the harrowing scream, something was going on, and it wasn't just a regular everyday Hell's Kitchen robbery because sharing is caring. With a groan, she shifts her path, and heads to the nearest access point to the tunnel. For how dire the situation sounds, she adds a cry, "Mr. Chemistro..., I may not have your money either, but I got a pair of fists that really want to meet your face."

Blackout has posed:
The access is right off the street. It's like a bridge overpass that looks down into the tracks. It's easy access, especially for someone who can fly or super leap. This time of night, the trains pass every 20 minutes. One hasn't passed since she's been in the area. So it may be due.

Getting eye level with the train tunnel. Jessica can see into the depths of the man-made cavern as it provides some red, yellow, and off white lighting. Just above 20 watts altogether, perhaps 200 lumens, if that. Just enough to give workers some lighting to supplement their own. Within the tunnel, approximately 50 feet inside, standing off to the side of the dual rails are two men. One who appears to be a common street thug, Jessica may recognize him as Reggie the Leaf. Because he's always making like a tree when the trouble, like the wind, picks up. Reggie is on his knees a few feet away from the other man.

The other man is Chemistro. < http://tinyurl.com/y8bw76ej > A villain that was put away a few years ago and has recently gotten out of prison. Chemistro holds a high tech gun, pointed at Reggie with clear intention of using it. Chemistro turns to the sound of Jessica's voice. He turns with the gun in hand. Still several yards distance. Chemistro says, "Lady, you don't want none of this. Go mind your own business, find some other corner to stand on."

Jessica Jones has posed:
One of the benefits of being a P.I. is that you're always equipped from impromptu investigations, as Jessica reaches to an inner pocket in her coat, pulling out a pocket flashlight which she uses to illuminate her path better. Seeing the two, she clicks her tongue in disapproval, "you going to pick on Reggie the Leaf? And so close to Christmas too? I think Santa might leave you some coal..." Jessica warns, and while it sounds like your everyday hero banter, that couldn't be further from the truth. Jessica never considered herself a hero. Well, aside from a very brief, if not utterly tragic stint as Jewel.

"I see you got this space weapon you stole from some alien invaders? I guess the space fungus? It's very impressive and all, but what's more impressive would be to check if your dick can regenerate after I kick you to the moon and back. You feel me?" Jessica offers completely non-chalantly, as she keeps advancing towards Chemistro, at least on the outside, she doesn't look at all concerned about his weapon. As for the fact he has a weapon trained on Reggie? Well, if not Chemistro, someone else will do the job, Reggie will reap what he sowed one way or another.

Blackout has posed:
Chemistro isn't really a killer. He's a common thug and thief underneath the mask. The gun just helps him facilitate his breaking, entering, and fearmongering. So he has no intention of shooting Reggie or Jessica. It's evident when he points it at the ceiling above Jessica and pulls the trigger.

"I warned you lady!" comes Chemistro's voice as the energy beam from the weapon spreads wide over the surface of the tunnel's roof. Right over Jessica's head. It instantly turns a 20' diameter 5' thick slab of concrete into very heavy quicksand that will fall from a height of 12 feet (height of tunnel) toward Jessica's position.

Reggie is already on his feet and running the other way since Chemistro is distracted and otherwise engaged with Jessica.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica doesn't wait to see what the gun is capable of doing when it's pointed at the roof of the tunnel, rather she takes literal flight, directly at Chemistro, hoping to be able to tackle him before whatever he intends to do takes place. She's not great at the flying thing, mostly because she sucks at landing, but when push comes to shove, she has to act. Landing could be replaced with crushing into the tunnel wall along with Chemistro for all she cares, at least it'll hurt him too.

The only question is whether she's fast enough to not tumble down under a pile of crumbling concrete.

Blackout has posed:
    Poor Chemistro.

Flight is often way faster than gravity. And in this case, Jessica's instincts to get out from under the quicksand are on target. The other target is Chemistro's torso. The thing which she slams into knocking them both deeper into the dark tunnel. Their landing is not all that pretty either. Both skid along the granite aggregate rocks that surround the double tracks. His gun is also cast aside. It tumbled several more feet away from him.

When the skidding stops, Chemistro is on his back, Jessica pinning him. He's already bruised. His super suit does little for blunt protection - it's great for sharps or bullets. He panicks. Realizing that he's already lost because she could fly. He didn't expect that at all. And he's without his gun. "Whoa! Whoa! Lady! Get off me. I didn't do nothin!" - it's the common Bart Simpson or criminal response trying to deny guilt of anything, regardless of the proof.

That's when Jessica and Chemistro both hear it. A train, maybe two, are converging upon their position. It's close and there's very little wiggle room on either side of the dual tracks. Nor does one want to try to stand between the opposing lanes.

Chemistro mutters, "Oh crap.. train." and tries to look back into the depths of the tunnel, where illumination is growing brighter.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica curses in the rough tumble, and harsh skidding along the tunnel wall and partially the track itself, her coat will need serious mending, and later on she'll need to check if her phone is still functioning. But at least it seems like she managed to catch Chemistro off guard. Nobody ever remembers she can fly, then again, it's doubtful Chemistro even knows who she is in the first place. "Funny thing, Sparky," Jessica gasps as she catches her breath, while firmly grabbing Chemistro's hands and planting them to the ground as she pins him, "but you kinda threatened both Reggie, and later myself, with that gizmodo guns of yours."

"Oooh, train," Jessica remarks in a surprisingly calm tone, "you know, my super power is that I break trains in two, ever heard of Superman? Well, I'm his worst nightmare...wanna wait for the train to come?" She asks, pushing him further against the tracks, "or do you surrender to me?"

Blackout has posed:
"Oh come on lady!" Chemistro says in a panicked voice as he is shoved against the tracks. "I. I. Yeah, I totally surrender!" - He's really not all that tough without his gun. And even then, quite inept at usage and conflict.

At the mouth of the tunnel is another man. He's dressed in black. The suit is padded (for armor) and covers his entire form, including all of his face (even eyes, mouth, nose). He stands there, near to the wall, observing the situation. He's a good distance away and doesn't appear to want any trouble.

Chemistro struggles, in vain. There's no way he could overpower Jessica's strength. He pleads, "Come on, we gotta get outta here. That train. It's coming. Maybe you can break it. But I'll be dead. And dead doesn't look good on me."

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica only waits until Chemistro surrenders, at which point she grabs him harshly and rolls with him away from the track. She grabs him and forces him against the very edge of the tunnel, "hold still, don't move...there's enough space, but if you so much as extend a finger, you'll lose it..." she goes as far as to press him with her extended hand to keep him from hurting himself.

With all the rush to avoid becoming pancake, she doesn't quite notice the man in black observing from afar, she's far too concerned with staying alive because she wasn't exactly telling the truth to Chemistro. The train would definitely fuck her up big time.

Blackout has posed:
First it's the northbound train that rushes through. Flashing of internal car lights strobe the walls of the tunnel. Wind is pushed through, kicking up debris. But no sooner does it pass, than the southbound train screams into the tunnel with loud horns of warning to those that keep their bodies flat against the wall. Inches away from Jessica and Chemistro's bodies. The several hundred ton train clackity clacks by only leaving the rush of cold air in its wake.

Chemistro breathes fast. He was terrified. He mutters, "Can we get the fuck outta here?"

The man that once stood in the mouth of the tunnel is gone. Only the night remains. Off in the distance, the sirens of police cruisers are heard. Chemistro's gun is still on the rocky ground.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica has gotten quite good at masking any and all fear, to Chemistro, she looks utterly badass and unflinching as the trains drive by inches from them. In truth, she simply made peace with the fact she was going to finally die. But hey, turns out she was right about the tunnel width. Score one for wikipedia.

"Yes, we're getting outta here alright," Jessica snarls as she grabs Chemistro and pulls him after her like a ragdoll. There was a benefit for super strength when it came to intimidating people, and the fact Jessica was rather small of figure, just made sure scumbag prey would pick on the wrong person more often than not. She rather liked the poetic justice in that. As she drags Chemistro behind her, she looks to see if she can spot his gun lying about, if she does, she'll pick it up as evidence. She fully intends on depositing him in a police department.

Blackout has posed:
Departing the tunnel, Jessica may notice that the quicksand that was once concrete ceiling, which fell onto the tracks. That was splattered all over the wall. Had she not moved them down with her flying tackle, they would both be covered in slimey quicksand when the train passed. She does get it on her boots in passing.

Chemistro is indeed a ragdoll as she drags him out.

Upon exiting the tunnel, Jessica will find that the police are already on the street above. Shining their flashlights through the fence downward onto the tracks. They call to her when she is spotted and someone says, "Jones?" recognizing her. That would be officer Tim Runnels, someone who is familiar with Jones' work and her street presence. He's a beat cop that has, in the past, offered some insider assistance. In either case, he continues, "Looks like you got Chemistro. Could ya bring him up? We'll gladly take him off your hands."

Jessica Jones has posed:
"You see that crap?" Jessica snarls at Chemistro as she drags him along, "that would have killed people, idiot. Is killing really that fun? Off stupid fucking Reggie and you did what?" She is rather pleased to hear a familiar voice, maybe Tim would be a good buddy and spare her the interviews and paperworks that make this job so terrible. "Yes, I got that asshole, and he's coming right up, and if he doesn't want my fist shoved up his ass, he's going to be nice about it and not try anything," she says loudly enough for the benefit of Chemistro to reall think hard on whether he wants to play tricks, as she pushes him up with her, "let'e go, don't want to keep the nice officer waiting."

Blackout has posed:
Getting to the upper street with Chemistro, Jessica notes the approach of Tim and his fellow officer, Sylvia Fisher. They take Chemistro into custody, his weapon and then toss him into the back of a squad car.

Once the procedure is handled Tim approaches. "Thanks for that. I'll take care of the writeup at the station."
