Another Monitor Duty done!
Date of Scene: 20 December 2018
Location: Watchtower
Synopsis: Kara does her first mission monitor duty, taking over from Hal. PG drops by and stays behind to have a chat with Kara!
Cast of Characters: Green Lantern (Jordan), Supergirl, Power Girl

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
r    It had been a very, very long night at 22,300 miles above the Earth in the JL Watchtower. Hal Jordan was just finishing up another mission monitor duty shift, and this one was the graveyard shift. Yawning with a loud, "Hrmmmmm." Jordan moves over to the table, and attempts to pour himself another cup of java. Unfortunately, the coffee maker was empty.

"Figures." Hal says with another sifled yawn. "AH well, should be done soon." Hal looks over at the control window, and notes it was 0758 hours, just about shift change. He puts his empty, cold mug down on the table, and taps his finger against the table absently while leaning back against it.

Supergirl has posed:
There is an indicator from the control panel that someone just teleported into the Watchtower. That would likely be his relief. The sound of boots coming down the hall is the second alert. Then the third one--the smell of coffee.

Supergirl slips into the door with a to-go cup in each of her hands from Starbucks. Both are the largest size they had available. She gives Hal a brilliant smile and offers him the cup in her left hand. "Coffee. Black. I didn't know if you liked stuff in it and figured there would be suger or cream here so I hope that's okay?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Sniff, sniff. Hal Jordan grins, and waits for the new arrival. Standing, Hal watches as the Girl of Steel arrives. "Supergirl! Welcome! Right on time, just like I like it!" Hal grins broadly when Kara offers him a cup of coffee. "You are a life saver! You read my mind!" Hal takes the cup of coffee, and peers at her suspiciously. "You haven't developed a new power have you?"

Hal takes a drink, and nods in gratitude. "Just how I like it." He points to the table where there is, indeed, sugar and cream and milk. "Help yourself. Barry brought some fresh stuff before I took over from him. Er, the Flash I mean. And of course it's okay! All set for your first shift?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Oh no, I don't drink coffee," Supergirl admits, which may put her strongly in either evil or insane category for Hal perhaps. She pops the top off of hers, showing the whipped cream that coats the surface of whatever she's got. "Hot chocolate. Soooo good. Not as good as Pop's but it'll do."

She puts the top back on and almost runs over to hop into the main seat in front of the Control Panel, eyes a little wide as she looks it over. She runs her hand across the edge of the desk. "So this is it. Seriously going to be in charge of keeping the whole planet safe! Me! I think this is the coolest thing ever!"

Power Girl has posed:
That is when there is another indication of transport up to the watchtower. Power Girl teleports in and stretches as she steps off the teleporter. "Ugh. Sometimes Star Labs really really need to clean out their beakers." She says as she wanders through to spot GL and Supergirl at the desk. "hey guys. Mind if I take a whiff of bleach. I need to burn out my nose for.....a week."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan takes a sip of the coffee that Kara had brought, and he smiles. "Better than that stuff that the Flash made, thank you Supergirl. It hits the spot." Hal nods, and says, "Funny, I know that J'Onn is a drinker of hot chocolate as well. Extra whip cream I think." Hal shakes his head. "I don't know how some people can do without, but I respect that."

Watching as Supergirl moves over to the main console, Hal nods, and says, "It gets old quick, but great to hear your enthusiasm. Yeah, it's an important job, and cool, one I take seriously, and now, I am relieved to see you do too.

When the new indication of someone else arriving lights up, Hal points to it, and says, "Looks like someone else has joined us." As PG enters the room, Hal smiles and says, "Sure PG. Whatever you need. I was just helping SUpergirl get ready for her first shift."

Supergirl has posed:
As the indicator light for the teleporter goes off. Supergirl sits bolt-upright in her seat and spins around to look toward the door. For a moment, she seems like she's prepared to fight off an invader. But that's just silly as an invader wouldn't use the teleporter. Or Would They?

Thankfully it's a familiar face that comes in and she relaxes back into her seat, her smile huge and bright. "Hi, Power Girl." She isn't sure if she should use codenames or real names so she opts for the former. "I'm on Monitor Duty!" She is way too excited over this. Her smile fades a little. "But I didn't know you were coming or I would've brought you a beverage as well. It is always polite to bring a beverage early in the morning." That explains her alleged new super power Hal wondered about. She holds up her cup to PG. "Would you like hot chocolate? I did sip it though. Twice."

Power Girl has posed:
"Not at the moment, Supergirl. Right now, I want to get the smell of fresh sulphur out of my nose." It's then Power GIrl sneezes. "there was an explosion at Star Labs. It's gonna take a week to clear the labs out, but right now it smells like a landfill. I'm gonna go shower, then join you on monitor duty, Supergirl. Hope you don't mind."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan crosses his arms across his chest, and smiles at Supergirl's enthusiasm. It was a wonder she didn't destroy the seat in the speed she whipped around there. "It is great to see you with lightning fast reflexes, Supergirl. Anyone could attempt to attack the satellite from all angles, outside, space, another dimension, the teleporter, teleporters from a ship or a power, anything. So it's good to be alert and ready to go. And with your abilities, I know we will be safe today!"

Hal watches the interchange, and nods in agreement with Supergirl, offering his cup as well. "If you want coffee, you can have mine, or I can start up a new batch?" And as Powergirl mentions Star Labs. "Everything okay at Star Labs PG? Yeah, you might need that shower." Hal crinkles his nose, and chuckles. "Was it an accident or a bad guy...er, or bad girl." Hal stumbles a bit over that and grins."Or other."

Supergirl has posed:
The hot chocolate is replaced on the counter behind her as Supergirl gives Hal a smile at the compliments. See! She was so ready for this! "Thanks. I won't let you down!" she vows.

Then she sobers, turning that concerned eye over at Karen.

Power Girl has posed:
"Everyone's fine, Lantern. Someone just didn't get all of the water out of their beaker before they decided to put Sodium Chloride into the beaker. And it was a rather large amount. So when it went off, everyone was evacuated, but the explosion rocked the building enough to where it knocked some beakers into others, accidentally turned on some hot plates and bunson burners, so I had to put out the fires as well. Star Labs is still standing, but it's going to take a while to clean it out." She says as she starts into another room.....and unzipping her suit......and almost immediately the smell hits you both.

Yes...she needs a shower.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"I know you won't!" Hal Jordan says to Kara, and it was obvious he meant it. "PG can help you out then, and hang around, but if you both need my help, I am a quick call away. Gonna get some shut eye and then check out a few leads I have on the Yellow Lantern Corps getting a foot hold here on Earth."

Hal Jordan takes a big drink of the coffee, and then says, "You know, I probably shouldn't drink this too fast if I want to sleep..." Hal chuckles at PG. "Ah, I see." As the smell hits again, Hal chokes, and then you both can see a green nimbus of energy wrap around Hal's body as he starts to float.

"Well, I leave you in capable hands than Supergirl." He looks at her, and smiles. "Have fun!"

Supergirl has posed:
As Power Girl heads off to get her shower and the smell wafts behind her passage, Supergirl wrinkles up her nose as she nods. "yes, a shower. Good idea."

The green nimbus appearing has her smirking a tiny bit. "You able to block smell with that thing? Cheater." But she does settle in, turning toward the monitor to keep up with any dangers to the planet below.

Power Girl has posed:
"Later GL!" And Power Girl is in the shower. Likely Hal leaves while she's in the shower. Once she's back out, she's wearing another outfit, but more of 'quick throw on' clothes. "So much better. my nose doesn't feel like it's on fire." She then looks about. "How're you doing, Kara?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"Later PG!" As Hal floats towards the door, he looks back, and smiles. "Yep. Which was why I put it up..I don't envy you your super sense of smell right now. Phew!" Hal laughs, and says, "Never thought I would ever say something like that...it has been one of those nights, that's for sure." As Supergirl turns back to the board, Hal salutes her with a right hand two finger salute to his forhead, and heads to the teleporter, and is gone. His last thoughts were, "Oh no...girls night out..." Poof.

Supergirl has posed:
Now that they are alone, normal names can be used again. Although there is probably a camera around here. Seriously though, it's the Justice League. Kara isn't worried about her identity being known by the members.

"Great. We're on Holiday from school!" That makes that bright smile appear again. "The Winter Dance was nice last week. I went with Chris." Of course. "It's kind of scary. This is my last year in school and after this, I have to figure out a career and get a job and all that adult stuff. I'm ready for this," she says, waving a hand to the console. "Being a hero. Helping when I can. I've been ready for that forever. But adulting? Not so much."

Power Girl has posed:
Karen sits down and sighs a bit. "be glad you got to go to a dance. Most of my dances were fighting and crap." She then ponders a bit. "Well...if you have to figure out a career....what do you like to do? Other than super heroing. I mean....it's nice, but it doesn't pay the bills." She then ponders. "COuld work at Star Labs....and I could vouch for you as my cousin."

Supergirl has posed:
"I'm good at science but not sure I want to spend my life doing it. But it would be a start. Of course Kal wants me to go to college." That gets a roll of the eyes from Kara. "I may take a year off, travel some." Like she can't just pop over to the other side of the globe when she wants to already. "I dunno. I like painting but the Danvers have assured me that won't pay the bills either. Maybe going for a degree in a science field would be a good idea. I thought about journalism, but it doesn't hold a lot of appeal to me."

Power Girl has posed:
"Yeah, I get that. Could always go into programming and make video games." karen says as she turns the corner and starts to put on her other uniform, cuz the first one needs to be washed. "I mean....some video games are considered art now. Why not try that?"

Supergirl has posed:
"I am good with computers. Just don't have the imagination to write a full game. Although I guess the designers take someone else's stories and just make them visual." Supergirl lets out a little hum as she thinks about it, never taking her eyes off the monitors. She is going to be very serious about her duties. After all, she could hear Karen outside if she needed to so she can track the conversation even from a distance. Just as Karen can hear her from other rooms with no difficulty. It certainly made things easier.

Power Girl has posed:
"To say the least. it's just an option for your future, Kara. I'm trying to help. Clark helped me out in the end, so I'm trying to do the same for you. Despite how I came to be." She then sighs a bit as she walks out. "I don't look too gaudy in this, do I?"

Supergirl has posed:
Supergirl looks around to give the outfit a critical glance. "I like it. While I like your usual one, this is nice cause it shows off your arms a bit instead of your legs." She shrugs and grins. "The gold bracers kind of make me think of the Themyscirans but that's never a bad thing. Doesn't seem gaudy at all. Guess it depends what you want to accentuate. Was this an old costume you used to use before?"

Power Girl has posed:
"Well...I needed more than my usual one, so I made a couple more. This is one of them. I do kind of admire the Themyscirans, so they were the inspiration for this costume. Another one I have is lead lined, so it's like armor, but it's full body coverage...except for my head, which can be remedied." She then smiles. "Gotta be able to fend off that one weakness we have somehow."

Supergirl has posed:
The thought of Kryptonite makes Supergirl wince as she turns back to the computer, perhaps hoping it wasn't noticed. "Thankfully it isn't all that common on this planet but I do see your point. Not sure I'd want to wear something lead lined all the time though. Maybe when you know you are going against someone who uses it."

Power Girl has posed:
Karen Starr says, "that was the idea." She then smiles. "before you ask....lead fiber. You'd be surprised at how readily the fibers soak up the radiation." She says as she sits down. "I'll go and make some hot chocolate for us.""
