Cast of Characters: Star Shimmer, Star Sapphire

Star Shimmer has posed:
Its been a really long week. Autumn is in her apartment. She's supposed to have moved but, there is no way she is going anywhere at this time. She is still resting up. Still wounded. She's a little hungry so, she decided to make something for dinner. A big bowl of ramen... Yup not much but when you can't get out and busk. At least she's starting to feel a bit better.

On top of everything, there is the matter of the ring. Batman got in contact with Hal Jordan concerning the situation. Then, Autumn found something, Carol Ferris' number. She quickly called it. "Hello? I found something that you may be interested in.... A Violet ring. Can you come by?"

Star Sapphire has posed:
"Okay," Star Sapphire said mildly over the phone, because she didn't know what else to say to that. A time and place were arranged, and Star Sapphire showed up there, remembering this time to cloak herself in invisibility during the flight to make sure no one could track her flight; an invisibility she dropped once at the arranged time and place.

Star Shimmer has posed:
The time and place is Autumn's apartment and time is soon. She can't go out too much due to being on crutches. When Star Sapphire arrives, She lets her in. "Welcome. Long time no see." She frowns and leads her into the apartment. She gestures to a chair. Quietly she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Star Sapphire Ring and sets it on the coffee table.

"A few days ago I was out training at night. A streak of purple crossed the sky. Nightwing and I went to see what it was. Next thing I knew it came flying at me! It dropped into my hand." She looks at it and makes a little confused face. "I tried putting it somewhere safe but it keeps turning up near me. I tried to leave it on my night stand while I was working on my computer. Next thing I know its on my desk right in front of me. I leave it there, when I go to bed, Its on my nightstand when I wake up. So I just sorta have been keeping it in my pocket."

Star Sapphire has posed:
Star Sapphire mostly suppresses a chuckle. Mostly. It does escape as a soft exhalation through her nose. "And you didn't think it was trying to tell you something?"

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn shrugs, "That I should put it on? Well... Yeah but I was warned to not do that because of the unpredicable nature of these things. Plus, What do I know about these rings?" She frowns. "I guess I just wanna know where it came from."

Star Sapphire has posed:
"It came from the battery all our rings come from, on Zamaron," Star Sapphire explains. She hasn't chosen to sit down, though she doesn't complain if (or, more likely, when) Autumn does. "The plain fact is, we don't fully understand how the process works, because it's too recent and because there are semi-sentient forces involved in it that sometimes act according to their own will. You got this ring because the force that empowers it wants you to have it."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn blinks a few times. "So... It wants me to have it." She looks at the ring. "So umm, How does it work? You said it's semi-sentient but ummm. I dunno the first thing about these. Also If I put this thing on what does it mean? Am I going to be like you?"

Star Sapphire has posed:
That last question pauses Star Sapphire in her tracks. "Like me how?"

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn blinks, "I mean A Star Sapphire. That is a violet ring right? That is the same color as yours."

Star Sapphire has posed:
"You'd have the potential to be one," Star Sapphire says cautiously. "The ring doesn't mean anything unless you have the desire to use it, though. If you're afraid to use it, or if you only want to use it for selfish ends, then your ability to use it will weaken, and it will eventually abandon you. You have to remain dedicated. It's like a marriage: if you don't put in the effort, then it ends."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn takes a deep breath. "So, Basically I need to make a choice. Either Use it or lose it. How do I use it then? I mean there is something about me that this thing picked up on right? In fact... When I was talking about why I am willing to fight, it started glowing." She blinks a few times. "Love?"

Star Sapphire has posed:
Star Sapphire is quiet for a moment, then she says, "I know this woman. Let's call her Sara. She let her husband's parents move into her house with the promise that they'd pay rent, but his parents broke the promise. They wanted to live there for free off their son, even after he got cancer and the bills started piling up. She had to kick them out because she couldn't afford to support them and her husband. When he died, they stopped talking to Sara. They'd occasionally call her four-year-old, their granddaughter, and say they loved her and wanted to see her, but they'd never try to make it happen, and even the little girl knew why: because they didn't love her. Not really. They said they did, but they weren't willing to do anything to show it. They weren't willing to stop being mad at her mom long enough to be grandparents to the child they said they love. They thought love is just a feeling and not a behavior. They didn't understand love is a choice you make every day not to feel something for someone, but to show it."

Star Shimmer has posed:
Autumn frowns as she hangs her head over that. "I understand that too well. I think... Well there isn't any harm in putting it on right?" She gives a little smile. Reaching out towards the ring, it flies toward her and onto her finger. "Whoa!!!" Her whole body glows violet for a moment before it fades out.
