Date of Scene: 10 January 2019

Synopsis: Star-Lord and Sindr meet with Brainiac 5 to discuss the upcoming arena match, as well as other goals.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Star-Lord, Sindr

Mon-El has posed:
In the time that followed after A-232150 handed Gigas and his somewhat random crew their passes, the group would have had some time to kill for the next couple of days until the actual match. So the others may have wandered off to go prepare or do their own thing, but in any case the three of them are left to their own devices for the most part.

The data slugs given them have information on the whereabouts of Arena A12, the location of the upcoming fight, as well as the contact information of the mechanoid who spoke with them, should they have any other questions for it.

As for Star-Lord, last time he had made a daring escape from one of the arenas after snooping around in places he shouldn't. But a quick EMP had been enough to give him the cover he needed to get away without anyone tracking him down.

Star-Lord has posed:
A hellhole like this always has a few bars with seedy elements, and just plain old decent arena fights. The arena /he/ went to was hardly what Star-Lord called fair, plus the fact that their champion would recognize him in a heartbeat now.

So it is that Peter decided to pass the time waiting for 'backup' to arrive in the bar by... getting into matches with gambling on the side. It's small time compared to the main attraction, but it passes the time, and keeps Peter sharp.

He's in the middle of a brawl with a three eyed purple alien right now, as a matter of fact. He's been almost undefeated in this particular arena, and he's gained a small following. A number of alien babes (and dudes, though Peter doesn't swing that way. Usually) catcall him from the side as Star-Lord sends his opponent to the ground with a well placed leg sweep. "Had enough, buddy? Just tap twice on the ground. It'll all be over." He gives a smirk as he stands over three-eyes, "wouldn't want to embarrass you further."

Sindr has posed:
One of those babes happens to be a muscular, coal colored hottie. She has not been engaging in cat calling, but she has definitely been watching Star-Lord with keen interest. In fact, that's how she came in here, like she was looking for something. Once her attention locked onto Quill, most folks who might have wondered assumed it was him. It wasn't, but...

Sindr boldly walks out of the crowd, joining Star Lord in standing over the three eyed being. "You should take his offer, unless you enjoy being injured." she suggests, head bent so Three Eye is looking up at the classic pair of people looking down on him head to head. The move may even seem entirely off kilter from 'normal', but then maybe she's just not properly socialized. Or maybe it's just this place.

Mon-El has posed:
Three Eye Purple Guy harrumphs and gets up, doing as Peter and Sindr have suggested. "Fine, you win this time, but I bet you haven't been in the -real- arena." He turns and walks away indignantly, though he probably hasn't been in there himself, either.

Star-Lord has posed:
"Maybe another time." Peter vaguely replies, before he turns and surveys the patrons, "anyone interested in stepping up? Going to be here a while longer yet." Peter offers in general, his arms crossing over his chest as he waits. Eventually though, Sindr gets his attention, "You're definitely not from around here." Peter notes, "I'm Peter, Peter Quill. You?"

Sindr has posed:
Sindr extends her hand in greeting, "I going by Ember at the moment. You fight well, but clearly your skill is wasted on these mongrels." Her demeanor exudes confidence, and likely a bit of arrogance as well. Still, Quill is being shown respect even if the rest of the bar patrons can be assumed beneath her.

Star-Lord has posed:
"I'm not looking to climb the ranks around here, if that's what you're implying." Peter notes to Sindr, before he starts to head to the bar, with no newcomers interested in fighting him. A wave gets the bartenders attention, "A flying Comet here, please." Sitting on a stool, Peter looks to Ember, "Just passing through and decided to get some credits on the side."

Sindr has posed:
Sindr follows Quill to the bar, saying, "Something flammable." as her drink of choice. To Quill, she replies, "The only implication is you're not going to be challenged in here, given your skill. But as you stated, that's not your goal so..." She shrugs, then reveals, "My acquaintances and I are going to fight their champion soon. I didn't really come for that, but..." She shrugs again, "I can hardly shy away from the glory of battle."

Mon-El has posed:
As Peter and Sindr make their way over the bar, someone else walks into the establishment. A young Coluan, by the looks of it. He makes a disgusted face at some of the drinking and brawling going on, but makes his way over to Quill quickly. "Star-Lord, I presume?" he asks, his gazed directed at the named individual.

Star-Lord has posed:
The Coluan gets a glance as he enters. Peter's been brushing up on the known Legion members since the incident at the arena, and recognizes the newcomer quickly enough. He downs the whole Flying Comet with one gulp, slams the shot onto the bar, and turns his head to regard the Brainiac for a moment... then, he glances to Sindr, "I wouldn't recommend taking on the champion, but it's a free universe. Relatively." He gives Sindr an easy smile, before he turns his head back to Brainiac 5, "you'd presume correctly. Was it my rugged good looks that gave it away?" He chuckles, before he turns fully to him. "If you're here for the information I have, we can take this somewhere private."

Sindr has posed:
"Why would that be?" Sindr wonders curiously at Quill's remark, and looks between him and the Coluan, the latter of which she studies intently for the moment. She doesn't make any moves to butt into the conversation between Star Lord and Braniac. Of course one might assume she's curious, though she doesn't openly show it. She has a swallow of her 'something flammable', eyeing the glass afterward critically.

Mon-El has posed:
Brainiac shakes his head. "No, you simply matched the profile of Star-Lord in our database." he replies evenly. "I am Querl Dox." he says by way of introduction, nodding when Peter suggests they go somewhere private. "Very well then." He looks to Sindr. "I assume she is with you?"

Star-Lord has posed:
There's a moment as Star-Lord watches Brainiac with a critical eye. "I bet you're great fun at parties." Peter quips, before he glance back to Sindr, "Just met her, actually." He shrugs, "Ember, meet Brainiac 5, member of the Legion of Superheroes. Not sure what their story is, but they're based around Terra." Peter notes, before he turns to Brainiac, "I have a place." Peter stands, and starts to head for one of the exit, towards the inns, "Ember, might as well come along, since I can answer your question too."

Sindr has posed:
Sindr hms, smiling much like the smug cat what ate the proverbial canary. "Brainiac five... Well met." she says after committing the name to memory, and does not hesitate to tag along having been invited. "Where is this... 'Terra'; I've heard the name before." she inquires lightly, joining the pair of them.

Mon-El has posed:
Querl nods and follows Peter out, not answering his wry quip about parties. "Terra is located in the Sol system, sector 2814." he replies to Sindr's question.

As soon as they arrive at their destination and have settled in, he would address Peter. "So, Star-Lord. What has Lar gotten himself into -this- time?"

Star-Lord has posed:
Peter plops down onto a seat in the small room he's rented; an automated recliner, "I'm not sure what's going on, but he's being controlled by the main gang in this hellhole, and he's the current champion of the main arena here, from what I gather."

He takes out something from a pouch. Brainiac will recognize it as an EMP bomb easily, "I set this off right in his face, so it's not technological... or at least the control device is EMP shielded. He's easily Kryptonian in strength, so I didn't stick around to try anything else."

Sindr has posed:
Sindr makes her own self comfortable in an available seat, lounging if at all possible. "There are those in the Realms versed in such terms as you use, I am sure. Systems, sectors.. I am not one of them, though I hope to correct my ignorance swiftly." she explains to Brainiac, flashing him a small, indulgent smile.

She listens to Quill without interruption, paying attention to the idea that the champion is being controlled somehow. She offers, "If it is magic, that is unfortunately a kind I am not versed in. Even where I, I am not certain avoiding a confrontation with this... Lar, is in my companion's best interests. They are here to rescue some princesses, and their whereabouts is something sought from victory." She pauses to wonder, "How strong is a Kryptonian?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Heh. You don't have to tell -me- that twice." Brainiac replies to the comment about Lar's strength level. He examines the EMP grenade Quill is now showing him with a pensive frown.

"Hm, as I expected, if someone has managed to subdue someone like him that fully, technology isn't likely to be the only tool involved. I suspect some sort of magic is in play, here." He sighs. "Unfortunately that isn't my strong suit, either." A brow is arched at Sindr's mention of others. "So there are others? Who are they, exactly? As for how strong Kryptonians are, well...they are among the strongest races in the entire galaxy. Lar isn't one of them, but he is as strong as they are, and his physiology is similar."

Star-Lord has posed:
"They're strong when around a yellow sun. Don't ask me why." Peter offers in explanation to Sindr, "Superman from Earth could tear apart the Milano and probably not even break a sweat." Then, he shrugs, and looks back to Brainiac, "Warlock is my magic specialist, but I don't want to risk him going near him without a solid means of defense. Do you have a better idea?"

Sindr has posed:
"So a Daxamite is likened to a Kryptonian... The servile machines told us that's what the champion is. As for my companions, one calls himself Gigas - big blue beast of a male. The other has not provided her name, though chaos seems to follow in her wake. One of the princesses is a friend and... follower, I think she said. That could mean a number of things, of course." Sindr says in answer to Brainiac. "I don't know if she is skilled in magic, but I could inquire. If not..." she then looks at Quill.

"I know some skilled in magic on Midgard - Earth - and I may be able to inquire with one of them if necessary. I know of others but... Well, asking them may or may not be a wise choice."

Sindr has posed:
Sindr ahs, "The being or thing in charge here is also called the 'Alpha', if either of you know who or what that is."

Star-Lord has posed:
"I was hoping to find that out, until I learned that Daxamite is in there." Peter explains, before he sighs, "I can sneak in there fairly easily... but I don't know what I'd /do/ in there if a mind controlled Daxamite came after me. I've never asked the Guardians to take on something at Kryptonian level before, so without a fallback plan, I'm not going to risk my people over this."

Mon-El has posed:
Brainiac nods as he listens to both of them. "Yes, Daxamites are...similar to Kryptonians." he confirms. "But, Lar is different. Stronger, actually. While most Kryptonians and Daxamites are both vulnerable to red solar radiation, as well as kryptonite and lead respectively, he is not vulnerable to any of them."

He seems particularly hopeful at the description of Gigas. "This Gigas character sounds like he might be helpful. Ember, if you do know any Terrans who would be willing to help and are skilled at magic, that would improve our chances of getting him out of this. And rescuing those princesses."

Studying Peter, Querl brings out what looks like some kind of utility belt. "This shield should protect you to a significant degree. I've been working on increasing the level of stress it can take before overloading--seems this would be an appropriate method of putting my newest model to the test."

Sindr has posed:
Sindr seems confused at first but quickly seems to suss it out and ahs, having a bit of a light-bulb moment, and nods once with a faint smile. "Terra, Earth, Midgard." she remarks. "I will ask them, see if they're able to help, if my female companion is not versed magics of the mind. I will also speak with Gigas; as I said, our interests lie with finding the princesses, and he sees a fight in the Arena as his means of obtaining their whereabouts. It is an assumption, but I believe he would seek a way to achieve both your goal and ours. I don't know if he'd risk his aims to help you, but I can ask."

Star-Lord has posed:
Taking the belt, Peter takes a look over the workings, before he nods. "Not too different from a Nova Corps shield. I'll use it for a break-in." The belt is secured, then Peter stands, heading for the exit once again. "I'll be right back." A pause at the door, "if you feel a gigantic explosion rock this hellhole, that'd be me making my escape from the arena."

With that, he's gone.

Sindr has posed:
Sindr states, "I will seek my companions, and then reach out to those I know on Midgard if need be. I'll return here to find you, Brainiac five." She rises from her seat, and also makes her way out.
