Jennifer Kale has posed:
The BlackSleep is over and the world is back to normal again. Or at least it's as normal as it ever was. For Jennifer Kale that means it's back to Sunnydale to reacquaint herself with her roommate, catch up on back-rent, and figure out what classes she's going to take this semester. Jen never thinks farther ahead than one semester.

Right now, the tall blonde is heading for the Enchanted Grounds, the local coffee shop, to indulge her caffeine habit and maybe catch up on some reading. Walking across the street, bellbottom jeans swoop-swoop-swoop with every step and she adjusts the backpack on her shoulder.

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
For her part, Nina did what she could only having just arrived in this time period. She steps out of a simple portal that leads into an alleyway here in Sunnydale. Why? Well, frankly she had heard some strange stuff about this place and wnated to know what was going on. Having waved a hand, her gear all seems to vanish into the aether. To those without magical powers or powers in general, the woman looks far too armed. Stepping out of the alleyway, she takes herself right into the path of Jennifer purely on accident really. She just blinks as she dodges back from the woman in time to avoid a collision.

"Oh, hey! Sorry." She blinks and smiles as she looks over Jennifer, "Nice look." She states.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
When a portal just 'opens up', even in an alleyway out of sight, Jennifer's hackles raise as mystical alarms go off in her head. She's looking around when the source of the portal nearly runs into her. As Nina dodges, Jen grabs a passing shoulder to do her part in avoiding the collision.

"I'm really sor-... Oh hi there." Her gaze wanders at the compliment, and she chuckles at the mutual bellbottom look. "Yeah, you too."

The gesture she makes would be casual to a non-practitioner, but it's blatant as all hell to someone skilled in the arts. A quick spell, magical equivalent of a geiger counter, and it spikes at all the mystical energy around Nina.

"I'm Jennifer. Can I buy you a cup of coffee or something?"

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
A smirk at Jennifer and then Nina nods her head, "Sure, why not?" She looks over at Jennifer but her vision is refined. She can see the magic fairly effortlessly but then again she was supposed to be more than she was...before things went all topsy turvy. Either way, she looks to the coffee shop and then back to Jennifer, "Lead the way." And she follows after the girl. She casually stretches as she walks and says, "And I'm Nina, by the way."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale looks over at Nina, setting a casual pace across the street towards the coffee shop. Yeah, she can sense Nina's aura and also figures that Nina can sense her own. In a place where sorcerers usually need to conceal their powers, it's an oddly comforting feeling.

"Nice to meet you, Nina. And bellbottoms are coming back!" The blonde nose-wrinkles at that. "I'd say that you're 'not from around here', but I think that would be an understatement. Everyone's back awake after that sleeping epidemic, however. Were you involved in that, by chance?"

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
"A little." Nina states in answer before looking back at Jennifer, "And bellbottoms never left." She states matter of factly before shrugging and walking with her to the coffee shop, "As for not from around here? I'm not from around here, not from awhen here, and more." She shrugs before idly looking throug the window of the coffee shop as the approach, "Nice to meet you, too, Jen."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale gives Nina a bit closer look, then, actually turning her head to stare for a few paces. "You haven't been to the dimension with the talking ducks, have you?" the blonde asks, rather seriously. "This place is *mostly* quiet, if you don't count the occasional rifts in reality." She pushes open the door, leading the way inside. "So what happened with the sleepers?"

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
"Umm, no." She states in response to teh question and then clears her throat, "And it was a demon." She states simply, opening the door so Jennifer can walk in first, "He was enslaving them to his will to use them for his own gains and goals." She shrugs, "And now he's gone." She nods her head and then considers, "And I really don't ever want to think of a talking duck dimension again."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Once inside, Jen seems to know her way around and heads for the barista counter. She nods. "Yeah, demons can be real jerks like that." she offers. "And you're right about the ducks, too. Some things are best left alone." Jen orders her coffee: black, with caramel and cacao nibs. "So are you just passing through, or here for some particular reason?"

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
"I had heard of this place." Nina states and then orders her coffee with simply cream and sugar. She then looks around the room, "I had heard this place was out of the ordinary so I figured I'd stop in and see what I could find out." She shrugs and then looks to Jennifer, "You live here?"

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale gets her coffee, pays for both, and gestures towards one of the tables. "On and off, yeah. I'm sharing an apartment with Billy Kaplan, another practitioner." She leaves the details vague, but gives Nina a knowing look. "We DO have a higher than average vampire population, but that's balanced by having a native Slayer in residence as well." Jen pauses, then offers. "Or maybe the second is the cause of the first? I really don't know."

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
Considering what the woman says, "I see." She nods her head, "Well, I suppose if there's a slayer in residence then it really doesn't matter. The area will take care of itself." She shrugs and nods her head, taking a seat, "Or vice a versa." She shrugs, "After all, there's always been a slayer and always seems to be."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale slides into a booth, letting Nina take her pick. "Apparently there has been a slayer for as long as there have been vampires. I've done a bit of research, and stopped looking sometime during the Dark Ages. Speaking of which, there are a couple of really good mystic libraries in town. You should check them out, if you have the chance."

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
"I might do that. Maybe add a few things and correct some others." She chuckles and nods her head as she sips her coffee. She then looks over at the area around, "So, what is your place around here, Jennifer?" SHe sips her coffee again, "What are you doing here?"

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale leans forward a bit, resting both elbows on the table while sipping slowly. "HERE-here? Oh, I'm mostly trying and failing at college. One of these days I'll actually get past my Freshman year." She shrugs, and doesn't seem too bothered by it, for all that. "I dance to pay the rent, and keep an eye out for things like talking ducks running amok where they shouldn't be."

Nina the Conjuror has posed:
"Dance?" She arches an eyebrow and tehn shrugs, "I guess that pays." She then stands up and sips her coffee, "I'm gonna go take a look around. Don't have a phone yet but...I'm sure you could get my attention if you need." She then gives a smile, "See you around, Jennifer." She then starts for the door.
