A Night at the Museum
Date of Scene: 13 January 2019
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: JD and Bobby investigate a burglary at the museum.
Cast of Characters: Spider-Woman (Drew), Iceman

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
It seems a low priority to many, in regard to crime and loss. A handful of rare and priceless fossils went missing in the Museum of Natural History. But with things winding down for the moment with the Black Sleep, Jessica has taken special interest in the case. An inside job, she'd guess, but still a travesty. Many of these fossils came from impoverished areas where she had served in humanitarian efforts.

Nobody told Jessica to investigate. They probably would have told her to focus on other ventures. She just...wants to see. If there's anything she can see...anything she can find. Maybe something was missed. So she is standing on the front steps on the outskirts of Central Park, finishing a cappuccino. Black leather pants, boots, and jacket. Beneath it, her crimson bodysuit adorned with delicate gold webbing.

Iceman has posed:
Bobby is just out walking tonight. After having his arm blown off the night before, he's not ready to go racing to test the new one to see how well it works. He stops at the small coffee cart near the museum's entrance to place an order for a hot chocolate. Because he may be an adult - but hot chocolate is just damn good.

As he comes from the kiosk, he knows the figure standing outside of the steps as he moves over, holding his paper cup in his hands. "This is a terrible place to try to hail a taxi, you know."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"I was trying to hail a Bobby," Jess replies with a grin. "Seems like I picked the perfect spot. How ya doin' tonight? You look like..." She frowns. "Ya look like you've seen better days. You okay?"

Iceman has posed:
"Oh yeah, just had a bad night bowling last night." Bobby offers with a laugh as he sips from his cup. "Why were you trying to hail a Bobby?" he asks curiously. Confusion shows clearly on his features as he takes in her dress. "Seems like you had patrol on your mind tonight."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Well...I didn't exactly expect to see you here tonight," she admits. "But I won't say you're an unwelcome sight." She grins, but then starts looking him over. "Huh....they have full contact bowling now? I think that's a little bit above my paygrade." Her brow furrowed, she decides to let it go.

"I was actually gonna go in and do a little investigation of my own...they had a theft of some priceless stuff, and I'd like to see it returned...if I can find out where they are."

Iceman has posed:
"So we're into breaking and entering?" Bobby asks with a lift of his brow with a chuff of amusement. "I thought you guys could get like.. Avenger passes to all the best attractions." There's a slight smirk at that as he finishes off the hot chocolate and throws the cup away in a nearby trashcan. "So, what's stopping you from going in?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Not breaking and entering so much. I met a couple of night security guards who...took a fancy to me, for some reason..." She shrugs with a toss of her hair. "I got a free pass to go in. See Steve up there?" There's a moony-eyed security guard inside the door, gazing adoringly at Jess. "Steve's a pushover. He'll let me in. You too, if you're in." Behind her, Steve sighs. There might as well be little heart bubbles over his head.

Iceman has posed:
"I think you could probably knock him over with a feather, Jessica." Bobby says with a small smirk as he glances towards the pair of guards. But she asked if she could get his assistance, and well, he feels the pull himself. "Sure, why not. But if you try to steal anything, I'm going to make you the new Ice Age exhibit." he teases her gently.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Perfect! I always thought I'd make a fantastic ice sculpture!" Jess laughs lightly. "I may be up to mischief, but I'm not a criminal." She lifts her hand. "Promise. Let's go play in a dark museum, shall we?" She finishes her cappuccino and tosses the cup into the trash can. Then she sighs. "I'm gonna break a couple of hearts, though."

Iceman has posed:
"Sounds like it's something you're used to." Bobby responds. Right now, he remains in his jacket and jeans. There's no need to ice up at the moment as he lets Jessica lead the way as he smirks. "Playing in a dark museum almost sounds kinky. Except you know, all and dusty tomes and stuff." There's a roll of his eyes at that as he gestures for her to lead the way.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Don't mind them," she nods toward the security guards as they approach the door. "Bob and Steve are gonna be a little...uh..." Both of the men's eyes are death daggers for Bobby. But they open the door for them, and let them pass through. As Jess and Bobby venture a little farther into the museum, the guards begin bickering about whom Jess liked better. "It happens, sometimes. You get used to it, I guess. That's why I said I don't date...I have trust issues, I guess."

Iceman has posed:
"That's your choice to make. Didn't know that was one of your powers though." Bobby shrugs his shoulders at that as he looks between the two. "Sorry guys, seems she is passing on the tour package." he comments as he walks after Jessica and glances about. His hands are shoved into his pockets of his leather clad jacket as he makes his way along in the dimly lit building. "You know, halfway expected to have Night at the Smithsonian going on in here."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess breathes a laugh. "I was sort of hoping. There are dinosaur skeletons here, after all." She sighs dejectedly. "It's a pheromone," she explains, changing course. She pauses at an exhibit where a massive lion is standing, stuffed, on a setting of native grass. "Amazing what nature can do, huh? And dangerous."

Iceman has posed:
"Sorry, no President Trumps wandering the halls in search of walls." Bobby offers with a smirk as he shrugs his shoulders. "And you assume that everyone within range is affected? Like those guys back there?" he asks curiously. "I mean, yeah, I can feel an attraction towards you - but I think when I was in ice from the other night, I was protected from it. I'm not sure." he admits. "And yeah. Twists around one little part of one little cell, and we get opposable thumbs and the ability to make horrible TV shows."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Just think of all the thumb wars we'd have missed out on, if not for that little twist." Jess arches her brows and looks back at Bobby. "And the thumb trick would never have been invented!" She's changing the subject, but she is flushed pink. "But yeah, I just assumed. Wait, you don't think it affected you in that form? Really?"

Iceman has posed:
"When I'm ice.. things are just different." Bobby shrugs his shoulders in thought as he looks over the exhibits as she continues to lead. "Yeah, and neither would Chinese finger puzzles." he points out with a smirk as he turns his attention back to keeping an eye on his surroundings, stealing a glance at his guide now and again. "So, where's this exhibit at that we're looking for?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Back in the prehistoric era exhibit," she replies, and nods ahead at the entrance to the next room. "We can move along." She steals a curious glance at Bobby and continues on. She pulls a little flashlight from her pocket and shines it around. "I'm assuming you don't have like...night vision either? I don't wanna blind you..."

Iceman has posed:
"Nope. I'm a one-trick pony. All ice." Bobby responds with a chuckle. "I make a mean shaved ice though. Just stay away from the yellow ones. Haven't gotten lemon down pat yet." he comments as he waits for a moment, closing his eyes to allow Jessica to turn on the light and give him a chance to adjust.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Good, cause I didn't ask before I turned it on." She frowns. "I'm a little bit...I dunno, scatterbrained? More so recently." She waits for Bobby to open his eyes and then leads them to the next room. "Be careful of Velociraptors," she whispers. "Though I may be more dangerous than they are," she adds, with a wink.

Iceman has posed:
"I don't think you're going to eviscerate me and leave my guts all over the floor. Then you'd have to go find a mop and that's its own issue." Bobby responds with a smirk as he chuckles. "My mom used to call pregnancy brain. I mean, I don't know. You don't date, so you're probably not pregnant. So it's a bad analogy."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess laughs. "Yeah I would have to be in like my thirtieth trimester." She shrugs. "Not that I would never date. Just that I have to be really careful. Guys may be totally devoted...in my presence. But once they're out of sight? I'm out of mind." She passes through the doorway and to an empty case. "The fossils that were in this case were priceless. Instead of regular stone, they had mineralized as opals. They came from areas that I care deeply about, and it breaks my heart that someone just spirited them away..."

Iceman has posed:
"I won't ask about cobwebs then." Bobby says dryly as they arrive in the main area that they are looking for. "Go ahead and check for what you're looking for. I'm going to glance around to see if there's any signs of anything else that may have been taken." Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out his cellphone and starts the flashlight app on it.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess groans and rolls her eyes. "Pretty punny, aren't you?" she chides. But then she stops, shining her flashlight down toward her feet. "There's something here.Looks like the corner of a piece of paper." She toes at the corner, which only manages to push it farther beneath the case. "Ahh crap..." She bends over and tries to catch the corner with a fingertip to pull it out, but to no avail. "God, I'd make the worst cop EVER."

Iceman has posed:
Yes, Bobby does glance over to take a gander when she bends over, but quickly shakes it off as he comes over to where she is. "Can you lift the case so I can get under there to pick it up?" he asks her curiously, settling his hands on his hips as he waits for her response.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Depends on whether it's bolted down," she replies thoughtfully. "I don't want to rip up a chunk of concrete." She pushes the case a little and it moves."Ok I got this, ready?" She catches the edge of the massive case against the floor with her fingertips and lifts the entire end off the ground.

Iceman has posed:
"Totally blaming you if it's bolted down." Bobby responds. As she lifts the case up, he ducks down and reaches to get the slip of paper that had fallen beneath. Once he has it secured, he's pulling it out and withdrawing. "Got it!" he responds. "Go ahead and set it down!"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
o We're a regular Bonnie and Clyde, huh? Except, well, we aren't robbing anyone, and it'd have to be Bobby and Clyde, and I'm too shapely to be a Clyde. And we're sort of on the other side of the law." She sets the case down softly. "So we're nothing like Bonnie and Clyde."

Iceman has posed:
"Yeah, that was a pretty terrible analogy." Bobby admits as he pushes himself to his feet to dust himself off. Once he does, he offers the slip of paper to Jessica. "Now if this is your cappucino reciept, I'm going to be sorely disappointed." he comments dyrly.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess is oblivious to Bobby's cold response, as she looks over the scrap of paper. "I think it's something." She turns it over, but is blank on the back side. "It's a piece of hotel paper, y'know? The little memo pads they put by the phones in hotel rooms. The Hilton, to be exact. And there is a number on it. H28..." She shines her flashlight on the case, following the seams and around behind it. "A metal plaque on the back of the case bears the code H28. This was so they'd know where to go."

Iceman has posed:
"So.. we have what.." Standing on his tiptoes, Bobby looks over Jesssica's shoulder for the information. "..a Hilton? There's only like - what - 100 of those in New York alone? Does it give a more precise location?" he asks her, studying the paper for any other markings.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Ummm...no. Just Hilton. But it does list only three locations listed under Hilton, at least on this sheet. Plaza, Central, and Downtown Manhattan. That at least narrows it down, right?" She scrunches her nose a little and pouts. "Well I mean, at least a LITTLE bit." She turns to find Bobby's face directly in front of her, with the light from her flashlight shining directly up over his chin and casting odd shadows of his facial features. "Gah!" She flushes and blinks. "S-sorry, I...um, aren't you supposed to tell a ghost story or something now?"

Iceman has posed:
"And then the man slowly brought out the flyswatter and squashed the spider, then end!" Bobby smirks at that, but takes a few steps back to give Jessica the room she needs. "Well, we have three hotels, and a number on a piece of paper. That's.. a lot of ground to cover." he admits thoughtfully, rubbing his chin. "And we probably should finish this up before your two friends come back to their senses and wonder who they let in here."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Technically speaking, they /know/ who I am," Jess replies, looking back toward the entrance. She can't see it from here, of course. Or Bob and Steve. "They know I'm 'that Spider-Woman,' but you're right, they're going to realize once they stop bickering that neither of them is really interested." She arches a brow. "This is something to start with, at least. And narrowed down to the night before and the night of the burglary, well then we're only looking at maybe...a few hundred people?" She laughs. "Maybe it's a futile effort, I dunno. I just....I have to try," she says more softly, looking back up at Bobby's face, now more gently lit by the light. "But I'm not gonna forget the little spider smashing joke." She narrows her eyes in her best effort at looking menacing.

Iceman has posed:
"You said you wanted a scary story." Bobby points out and then rolls his eyes. "You're entirely too hard on yourself with that whole 'people forget how beautiful I am' thing." he offers with a smirk as he turns to start back towards the entrance. "Like you said. Now we just need to see who may have checked in that could have a criminal history and knows of the interest you have in this paticular exhibit."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"You're..." she begins. "I mean you don't even..." She exhales slowly. "I guessssss..." she hisses with her sigh. "I'd have to get guest lists, but I'm pretty sure it won't be too hard to do. I have...a particular set of skills." She winks. "C'mon, let's get outta here. I bet you didn't even bet on Night at the Museum" when you stopped by to get hot chocolate tonight, hmm?" she asks, leading them back out the way they came.

Iceman has posed:
"You're right, I don't know who you are for the most part. But I do know the beat myself up game. I'm a grand champion high score holder at it. And you're entirely too gorgeous to do that to yourself. I'm sure that someone will be held in your attention, and you'll realize that they actually want to be there." Bobby says over his shoulder with a small smile as he continues to head out. "And I'm totally going to be there to say 'I told you so'." He laighs. "Yes, well, I appreciated the adventure!"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Anytime!" Jess responds with a smile. "You /better/ be there. Hey, and if you want to help me follow up or anything, I..." She looks through and pats down her pockets, but comes up empty for anything but a pen. "Here..." she reaches out for his hand to write her number. "How else are you gonna be there?" she asks. "Don't tell anyone I gave you this, I have a reputation as an ice queen to uphold."

Iceman has posed:
There's a chuff of a laugh at that. "Did you forget that I'm literally made of ice?" Bobby asks with a chuckle as he watches her write down the number. "I'll be sure to call you to see how this turns out. You can reach me at Xavier's." And now that they are outside of the museum, he turns his attention to the two guards. "Sorry boys." he offers to the pair, before he starts to continue on his walk for the night.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"I was counting on you being made of ice. And...I might just do that..." Jess replies, and gives a sweet little wave to the guards. "Night boys..." She casts another glance at Bobby as he disappears into the night, then starts her own walk back toward where her bike is parked, pleased with her progress tonight, in more ways than one.
