Missing Mind Stone
Date of Scene: 14 January 2019
Location: Avengers Mansion, New York City
Synopsis: Betsy goes to ask the Avengers about the Mind Stone, wondering if it is the cause of Doctor Strange's affliction. Instead, she learns there may be another cause.
Cast of Characters: Psylocke, Thor

Psylocke has posed:
The Sorcerer Supreme had been found. Unfortunately, he didn't remember who he was. Or what he was. Or anything for the last few years at all. It was a bad situation. Certainly someone was taking up his Cloak for the moment, so there was a protector there. Yet, the good Doctor's situation was bad.

Betsy had a theory and she could only think of a few people to approach. First on her list was the Avengers. When she teleported in, via the shadows, she made sure to do so off-property. She didn't need any of Tony's toys trying to kill her for popping inside without an invitation. She walked up the front path to the door, dressed in a pair of jeans, a pale lavender sweater, and a heavy jacket to keep warm in the New York winter. A pair of boots finished the outfit. She pushed the button at the door then stepped back slightly to wait.

Thor has posed:
From the depths of the mansion a voice calls in answer to he ring of the doorbell. The trill of sound is matched with the roaring shout that proclaims loudly. "Someone seeks entry!"
Of course after another moment the bell continues to sound its alarm with just another gentle musical trill that is again coupled with a roar from further into the mansion. "Carol! Someone is at the entrance!" No answer.
A few more moments pass until it signals yet a third time and it is then that Thor's voice is heard as he roars, "Natasha!" To no avail.
It all ends after an instant where the tall blonde man's silhouette darkens the foyer's hallway and he advances past the doors to the library and the study, past the elevator that blends so cleanly into the wooden paneling. Only for him to reach the door and pull it open, standing there with a spatula in hand and an apron over his t-shirt and jeans that proclaims its positive message happily that everyone should 'Kiss the Cook!' He greets Psylocke at first with a glower, but then with a laugh.
"Elizabeth. It has been some time."

Psylocke has posed:
Listening to the bellowing sounds from within, Betsy can't help but smile in amusement, shaking her head slightly when he cycles through to the second on the list. When he finally opens the door, she arches a violet eyebrow as she looks at his choice of attire.

"They trust you in a kitchen? The Avengers really aer without fear, huh?" she teases lightly. She keeps the slight smile on her face as she continues though. "I fear this is a business call, though we do need to catch up. Things have been hectic. I need to check in on a few of my patients in New Asgard, make sure they are still doing alright." She nods toward the interior. "May I come inside without some hidden energy cannon trying to blow my head off?"

Thor has posed:
"The grill," He answers, for in truth no. They don't trust him in the kitchen. Stepping out of the way he sweeps her inside with a gesture then starts to walk back down the hall and towards the grand staircase where several hallways break off to the sides. He keeps heading back towards the double set of doors that open out onto the deck behind and the chill and snow beyond.
"You may enter!" He shouts over his shoulder, pushing that door open and lifting the top of the bbq, pushing around some of the burgers with the spatula then looking back towards her.
"You are e'er welcome to Kvalvika. But what brings you forth?"

Psylocke has posed:
As he wanders off, she waits. Betsy stays right there on the front stoop until he gives the verbal invitation. In her mind, that probably turned off the cannons. Maybe not but it's a good bet.

She closes the front door behind her as she trails through, glancing around before stopping at those double doors that lead to the backyard. "I know you were in Mexico with us during that battle with the Shadow King. Just in a different area." He was in the town while they had attacked the villa. "When we started our fight, Doctor Strange was with us. Then he disappeared. Shortly thereafter, the Shadow King seems to have lost the Mind Stone he was using to boost his powers." She leans against the doorframe, watching him working the grill like a pro. Or at least not setting things on fire. Yet. "Recently, the Doctor was found and brought to our facility. Unforuntely, his memory is gone. Not tampered with. It's like it was never there."

Thor has posed:
A bitter chill wends its way through the open door but after a moment Thor turns back and sets the spatula aside, closing the glass sliding doors behind him. He folds his arms over his broad chest and peers curiously at Psylocke as she speaks. "And now you are come to ask of what happened with the stone?"
He gives a nod and then starts to step past her, moving towards the kitchen and dining hall area. "The answer is simple enough. We gained it during battle after I struck Loki. He was able to circumvent the Shadow King's defenses and seize the stone." So Loki had it.
Leaning against the table, he looks to her curiously, one good eye narrowing a touch. "Afterwards my brother turned the stone over to me and we took it off world to place in the hands of those who will keep it safe."

Psylocke has posed:
As soon as he says his brother's name, Betsy's eyes narrow the tiniest bit. The god of mischief having the Mind Stone seemed a very bad thing to her. Yet he continues, saying that his brother gave him the stone. Surprising.

"I see. Do you know if it might be involved in removal of memories from someone as though they had never been? Could it have been used against Doctor Strange before Loki was able to get it away?" Or worse, could Loki have done it? She doesn't give voice to that. It would be impolite.

Thor has posed:
Scritching the stubble along the curve of his jaw, Thor tilts his head quizzically as he considers Psylocke and he murmurs, "Loki turned it over to me but two days after the conflict. If Strange's mind could have been altered then, then I would say aye." He crosses one foot over the other and tilts his head the other way before looking back. "But after that we moved quickly to make sure Midgard was safe and it was turned over beyond our reach."
That having been said he frowns and says, "Though, it should be known that with such resources at hand, and beings of such power as my brother and the Shadow King, it is not beyond them to be able to place a dweomer upon another that would be delayed as to when it would take effect." His eyebrows lift, "Or, all the worse, imagine what could be accomplished with the other stone that was in Strange's care."

Psylocke has posed:
This is not helping make her less suspicious of Shadow King or Loki. If anything, all the alarm bells are starting to go off. She had followed behind Thor, taking up on a spot on the opposite side of the table and watching as he explained.

To her credit, she never tries to use her telepathy to peek into his head. She gives a nod to his observations then her brow furrows slightly. "Other stone? There were two of them there?"

Thor has posed:
Another nod, "The Doctor's, the necklace he wore. The Eye of Agamotto I believe." He grimaces and looks down for a moment, but then meets Psylocke's gaze. "Having two in one location is very dangerous, thus why we sought to take the other beyond Midgard's boundaries. But I have not seen the other, it was held in his charge." And with Strange doing worse than normal...
"Perhaps follow the trail of this other and you may find what has caused such ill to the good Doctor."

Psylocke has posed:
"The Eye has another Infinity Stone?" Betsy's voice sounds as surprised as she feels, no hedging to not show her reaction this time. "What stone is it? Or do you know?" She knows there are lots of different stones, she just doesn't know what they all are. The Mind Stone was in her knowledge only because it was necessary during their fight with the Shadow King.

Perhaps this other stone could account for memories being completely gone. It was one of the strangest things she had ever encountered, to touch his mind and find everything just gone. Usually there was some residue. Walls built to keep stuff hidden away. Instead it was like the last several years simply had never happened.

Thor has posed:
"Time," Thor says simply, and as easy as that perhaps some light is shined upon what afflicts Doctor Strange.
