Cast of Characters: Iceman, Polaris

Iceman has posed:
"Look, Xavier's got decent food and all, but every one in a while, you just want a sloppy joe!" Bobby offers as he opens the door for Lorna. He wanted company if he was going to go get some greasy spoon goodness, why not go to a real greasy spoon. "They don't have chocolate shakes like over at Pop's, but they have a really awesome apple pie with ice cream." There's a grin given towards the green-haired mutant as he waits for her to enter.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna flashed Bobby a raised eyebrow as she entered the diner and looked around a small smile on her lips. Her heeled boots clicked beneath her foot as she walked, black and high up to her knees over her jeans. A loose fitting black sweatshirt was mostly hidden from sight beneath her thick winter coat of soft lavender and her cream colored scarf. "I don't know how long it was since I had a sloppy joe. Much less went out to eat at a diner." She murmured. In Genosha, she had the royal kitchens. A place where her father kept only the most loyal of cooks in. Rarely did she go out to eat, and even then it was a big 'to-do' when the island's Princess visited what shops and eateries.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket and she took it out with a sheepish look. Lorna flicked it on, reading over a text message and typing out a response before she slipped it back into her pocket.

Iceman has posed:
"Well, you need to get out and slum it now and again." Bobby offers, a grin sent swiftly to Lorna as he moves to claim a booth. Settling in, he gives a wave to the waitress with the big red buffont hairdo. He's dressed in a flannel shirt with a black t-shirt beneath and a pair of blue jeans. As he waits for her to seat, there's a glance towards the phone as she types, but he quickly turns his eyes away. In case she's talking to a beau.

"Two specials, fries, and a couple of shakes." he offers to the woman, with 'Flo' on her nametag.

Polaris has posed:
The booth squeaked beneath Lorna as she slid in opposite of Bobby. She carefully made sure the fancy looking phone was tucked away safely in her jeans pocket as she slipped off her heavy coat and scarf to pile it on the seat beside her. The gloves and hat following in a neat pile along side her purse. "Sorry, it was my Dad. He wanted to know when I was coming home. I sort of left a few obligations behind. I just had to promise to call him later." She murmured as she caught Bobby's gaze.

"Those had better be chocolate shakes Bobby." She warned with a grin. "Otherwise they don't count."

Iceman has posed:
"Oh." So dad's already ready to reacll her. Bobby shrugs out of his jacket, and grins. "Make the shakes chocolate, please." he adds with a call out towards Flo before he turns to meet Lorna's eyes for a moment. "I mean. It's important. I totally get it." he glances down at the table, his finger moving to pluck at a piece of broken lacquer.

"So when are you heading back?" he finally decides to ask, his eyes captured within hers for a few terrible moments.

Polaris has posed:
A small grin followed as Bobby edited the order to be chocolate and Lorna leaned back in her seat, crossing her legs as she got comfortable and reclined. Her green hair a starkly bright color against the red of the vinyl seat cushion behind her. "I dunno. I've been calling him almost every other day to stay in touch. It's kind of weird, isn't it? He didn't raise me.. but living with him this past year.. It feels natural almost." She lowered her gaze, pursing her lips together.

Magneto had wanted to know more about the X-men's situation and she still didn't really get or understand the details to do so even if she' wanted to.

"He was okay with me coming back this way with Wanda, but since it's here I think he's jut being protective." She smiled weakly, and tapped her fingernails against the table top as she held back a sigh. "I feel like either way if I stay or go, I'll be disappointing someone."

Iceman has posed:
"Hey, you know, you have things to do and take care of." Bobby offers encouragingly as he offers her a reassuring smile - though it's clear its not all that reassuring to him. "I just.. you know, want you to be careful. I don't know anything about Genosha. Never been there, but you seem to really like it, and I don't want to keep you from I guess. Your destiny?"

He takes one of the napkins from the napkin holder and starts to fold it absently. "I'm not sure if.. well, nevermind." he shrugs his shoulders. "Maybe I'll visit sometime."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna leaned forward, propping her head up with a hand as she arched a thin, green, eyebrow upward again in Bobby's direction. "Genosha is likely the safest place in the world beside the Mansion for me to be Bobby. I mean seriously.. it's an island filled with mutants and my father is there." Never mind the advanced technology and defenses there, particularly in Magneto's palace where she lived..

"It's a nice place if you like tropical islands and sand, and palm trees and really nice beaches." She teased, flashing Bobby a grin.

"Not necessarily your element, but a day at the beach can be relaxing. Rogue plans to visit come Spring Break. You should come too."

Iceman has posed:
"Yeah, Magneto. I mean, I know you're building bridges with your dad and all." And destroying his own thought of bridges with her. Bobby flages a brief smile at the thought. "What, you don't think I'd melt on the beaches there?" he asks her playfully. "Anyway. I mean. Considering what's happened in the past, aren't you the least bit concerned that.. I mean.."

"Maybe you could find a reason to stay around. Like. An ambassador or something."

Polaris has posed:
A nod followed Bobby's words and she glanced around the diner with a wary eye. There was a reason she didn't say 'Magneto' out loud. People didn't typically see her father as a source for warm fuzzy feelings most days. "Of course I don't trust my father. But he's still my father, Bobby. I'm still like him. We share the same powers.. and the same draw backs. He's helped me train." Her brows furrowed as she looked down at her hands.

"I've wanted to know more about my family history, and he's shared that with me. I don't think many people get it. How much he feels. But does. He cares and he feels so very much.. And.." She exhaled a heavy breath, and shook her head. A memory of sitting at her father's side as he teared up over the pocket watch she'd given him. She swallowed thickly and pushed the thought away.

"Enough about my father." She dragged her hands through her hair, turning her gaze back to Bobby with a slightly dimmer smile. "What's the special here anyways?"

Iceman has posed:
"Sloppy Joes. I think they call them sloppy mel's here." Unsure of what to do, Bobby reaches and presses his hand over Lorna's free one for a moment. "I'm sorry." he finally says, glancing down in thought.

"I just worry. You know, when you're not around, it just doesn't seem the same."

There's a nod. "I mean, everyone else I know with ice powers seems to be on the other side. Captain Cold, Killer Frost.. you know, not exactly the friendly want to help you with your powers type." And then he realizes he's still resting his hand on hers and starts to pull it back, his cheeks darkening.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna pulled her hand back after a beat, her green eyes flickering to Bobby's blues and away. She bit her lower lip, looking awkward and uneasy at the display of affection. Her hands sank away, slipping beneath the table as she swallowed a lump that formed in the back of her throat. She coughed, all at once awkward and unsure as she reached up to push her hair back from her face.

"Sloppy mels? I'm shocked that someone still makes and sells them.. I feel like they're limited entirely to busy moms that just feed their kids whatever to get them to be quiet." She teased, but there wasn't as much humor to the notes of her voice and she darted a suddenly shy glance in Bobby's direction.

"Well, the only other magnokinetic I've ever met is my father, and really.. that's not a good measure for people that have magnetism either."

Iceman has posed:
"Yeah, I suppose not." Bobby admits. When she withdraws, there's a blink from the ice wielding mutant and he falls silent. He's not sure what to say at the moment, and that silence hangs in the air until the foor arrives at the table.

"Anyway." Bobby manages, looking down at the meal that suddenly seems a lot more unappetizing. "Sorry." he finally says.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna bit her lower lip, lifting those green eyes back to meet Bobby's. "I'm sure the special will is going to be fine.." She mumbled even as the food was set down before them and she picked at it awkwardly. She shifted forward in her seat, trying to catch Bobby's attention away from the food and back to her. She shifted her plate to the side, leaning forward. "Bobby.. It's not that I don't like you. It's.. I don't think its fair to you. I'm not staying. My place is Genosha. And with my father and my family.." She glanced away.

The silence settled once again and she leaned back, exhaling a breath as she grabbed her chocolate milk shake. "It's complicated with them." Mostly Pietro and her father. Both of whom were over protective.

Iceman has posed:
"It's fine." Bobby sounds quiet. And sad. But that smile comes back to his face. Pasted on really. "You have your things to do. I'm proud of you. I shouldn't expect anything." he says finally and shrugs his shoulders.

"I never did."

And he's leaving it at that. "I'm sorry. I know it's total downer. I'm just.. yeah. I'm still your friend. Will be." There's a small hurt tone in his voice. "I wish you all the best, Lorna." There's a shalke of his head. "It's all good."

Polaris has posed:
A heavy sigh escaped from Lorna and she slowly shook her head, "I like you Bobby, geeze." She rolled her eyes, "I like you enough that I don't want you to have to face my father or Pietro and deal with them being over protective jerks to you." She shifted on the seat, and glanced down at her lap, her lips pursing together carefully. She fidgeted, and after a minute, as if utterly unsure what she should do with herself, reached out her hand cautiously on the table.

"I don't want to force you to choose between following me to Genosha or staying here.."

Iceman has posed:
"Don't you think that's my decision to make, Lorna?" Bobby asks quietly. "I mean, I've faced them both in lot worse circumstance, don't you think?" his eyes lift to face her. He sees the hand on the table, but he's not sure what to say, as he bites on his lip.

"I like you too, you know. I have, for a long time. But I don't want to put you in that situation either." he finally admits. "Not that I don't wnat to try. But I don't want you to think that I'm going to be a wedge between you and your family."

Polaris has posed:
A slow retreat of her hand followed and Lorna tucked her hands back up under her arms as she folded them over her chest. She turned her gaze back down and she bit her lower lip, her long green curls falling forward into her face. "I don't think you'd be a wedge. Pietro already asked if we were.. uhm a thing.." She felt heat rise to her cheeks as she kept her gaze low in the awkward manner that made her fidget in her seat, causing the vinyl to squeak beneath her.

"I just.. if we wanted to try something.. There's a lot that comes with it."

Iceman has posed:
"The question, really, Lorna - is do you /want/ to try?" Bobby asks her, a lift of his brown eyes to meet her bright ones. Her hand's retreat is caught, but he's not sure what else he can do at the moment. Instead, he reaches across the table, brushing some of the green locks out of her face.

"You're totally unfair, you know that. You're ever prettier when you blush." he says with a small laugh. But he's trying to figure out his next thought or move on this whole thing. "Are you saying yes or no, Lorna?"

Polaris has posed:
A blink of surprise crossed her expression as Bobby reached out and took her hand in his as it retreated. Lorna stared, her lips parting to answer Bobby's question before he reached out to push her hair away from her face. She shut her mouth abruptly as he laughed and the color on her cheeks deepened. She shifted again, seeming to struggle with the answer. "I uh.. I erm.." She coughed, and her fingers twitched.

"Are you.. are you //really// okay with everything that comes with me Bobby?"

Iceman has posed:
"I've had a crush on you since the first time I saw you, Lorna. Look.." Bobby blows out a breath, glancing down at their joined hands. "I'm willing to deal with it all, Lorna. But as you said, you need to put Genosha ahead of anything else - and that includes relationships. When things are better, and you're ready. Maybe, we'll revisit this. But for now."

Leaning over the table, he places a light kiss to Lorna's cheek, and when he pulls away, there's a small ice tiara set on the lacquered surface as he gets out his wallet to pay for the meals. "We're still always going to be friends. Maybe someday.." he shrugs his shoulders. "You won't have to worry about how your family will react to someone."

And before she can react, he's pulling away and retreating.
