Cast of Characters: Supergirl, Mon-El

Supergirl has posed:
Friday night! It is late, after the football game has ended. Riverdale thrashed their opponents in a 14-3 victory. This leads to the Chock'lit Shoppe being filled to the brim with excited teenagers, fans, football players and cheerleaders.

Amongst those cheerleaders is Kara Danvers, her glasses in place and her brown hair pulled back into a perky ponytail with an oversized bow holding it in place. She's wearing her Riverdale cheerleading uniform although she did put on a Riverdale sweatshirt over the top to help keep out the chill weather. Her heavier jacket is laying on the bench seat next to her as she chats with one of her friends, pausing from time to time to sip her oversized chocolate milkshake that's sitting on the table in front of her.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar has been missing Kara, a lot. More than he'd probably admit to most people, perhaps even to himself. So since he happened to be on Earth at the moment, he finds himself hanging around Riverdale where he knows Kara lives...

Okay it's not that he wouldn't be able to find her, he'd recognize her anywhere and he's probably already located her, but for some reason he's having trouble just...approaching her. It's been a long time since they last talked, that's for sure.

When a big crowd heads into the Shoppe, it draws his attention and he sort of wanders in with the rest of the students. It seems they're celebrating some kind of victory at some kind of sport.

And, yeah. Kara is definitely in here. She looks pretty casual. In a good mood, and such. He starts toward her group, but then stops, seeing that she's talking to her friends already. Maybe he should wait? Right, but he can wait but still make himself visible to her.

At any rate, he probably isn't very aware of how silly he looks. Staring at her, glancing away, starting towards her but then sort of shrinking away again. He certainly looks rather ambivalent.

Supergirl has posed:
Being in a shop filled with a lot of teenagers, he's certainly getting attention. From many of the guys, it is a brief sizing up and deciding if he is a challenge to their place in the high school social hierarchy, which is of course the most important thing to them. Even more important than graduating or getting into college.

The gals are considering him as well, but for an entirely different reason. He's a stranger. He's standing in the middle of the shop making himself obvious. And quite honestly, he's hot. The whispers and conversations are starting as some of them, and a few of their male friends who like guys, begin to buzz about the new guy in their midst. New student? Vampire that lives at a mysterious house out in the woods? Who is he?!

The girl with Kara gives a squeal and jumps up, rushing off to a greet a friend of hers that came in the door with the group that preceeded Lar. This leaves Kara alone, sipping her milkshake.

A moment later, she turns her head and looks right at Lar. A bright smile lights up her face as she waves him over to the now empty booth. She does rise to her feet, intending to give him a hug if he allows it, before they both sit. "Long time no see. How are you?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar is suddenly assaulted by all these looks and whispers and conversations about him and yes he hears every single one. Wait, why is everyone suddenly talking about him, this is a public place right? A place anyone could walk into? And now he is starting to feel extremely self-conscious. Maybe this was some kind of private party and he didn't know?

Thanks to all of these whirling emotions, Kara calling out to him doesn't register right away. Though he does finally snap out of it. "Oh--uh, hey, Kara." He says awkwardly, fumbling about his words as he comes over and sits down at the booth. "Yeah, long time...um..." he lowers his voice. "...this wasn't a private gathering or anything was it? If it was I'm terribly sorry." Ahem. "Anyway, I'm--all right. I just--well I miss you, that's all." he says quickly.

Supergirl has posed:
"Oh no, it's just a small town. Somebody new gets lots of attention. It'll be worse now as they go through the discussion of whether we are related or something else," Kara explains with a bit of a giggle. She toys with the straw in her drink, mixing around the thick milkshake a bit to make it easier to drink. "You want a milkshake? They have the best here."

His admission of why he was there gets another smile. "I've missed you too. Been so busy. It's my senior year so having to be sure to do my studies. Plus my...extra curricular stuff." And she doesn't mean cheerleading. "I've missed you too. And Drake. Just never seem to have time for a lot of socializing outside here." Being Riverdale, not the shop.

Mon-El has posed:
"Oh." Lar appears somewhat relieved when she explains why everyone was staring. "Phew, I thought I'd rudely barged into something--or something." He watches her stir the milkshake. "Sure?" He picks up a menu and starts peering at it. "Well, I'm sure you'll impress all your instructors." he comments about her schooling.

There's this sort of awkward pause for a moment where he appears to be staring at the menu but you can tell he isn't really looking at it but instead thinking about something else. "Kara, I've been meaning to ask you...there's this woman that I met, who...seemed pretty innocent at first, but I went to her house and I think she did something to me. She um, kind of insulted you and I got angry at her for it, but ever since then, I can't seem to get her off of my mind."

Supergirl has posed:
That sort of came out of no where. Kara blinks in surprise, halfway bent toward her straw. She releases the straw and sits back up fully, frowning a little bit as she tries to make sense of that.

"Okay, first, what do you mean she 'did something' to you? Like improper or ....y'know." She is not saying it! "And how the heck did I come up in a conversation to be insulted and why did she insult me anyway when she doesn't know me or does she know me in which case who is she?"

Mon-El has posed:
"I don't know," Lar says with a shrug. "I don't know exactly what she did, that's the part that's kind of unsettling. There's this...small gap in my memory of what happened. I found these torture devices in her basement, and when I confronted her about them, she said she used them on herself. She wasn't lying about that, but I don't understand why someone would torture themselves?"

He shakes his head. "Her name is Selene Gallio. You came up when we were talking about...um...relationships. She knows you as Supergirl, and um, definitely doesn't think much of you."

Supergirl has posed:
"I don't know that name," Kara says as she toys with that straw idly, rotating it around in the cup. At that moment a server comes over to take his order before bustling back off to get whatever he wanted.

Once they are gone, Kara continues. "I don't like that there is a gap in your memory. It makes me wonder too." She considers the other question and has to shake her head. "I know that I've read some religious fanatics do stuff like that. They'll hurt themselves as penance for their wrongdoings. Other than that, there's...er..." She blushes, cheeks going pink as she finds her milkshake very interesting and can't look him in the face. "People that do that sort of stuff for sexual reasons."

Mon-El has posed:
When the server arrives, Lar orders whatever Kara is drinking, because he hadn't actually really looking at the menu. He hands it back to the waitstaff before they hurry off.

"Uhm..." When she stares down at her milkshake, he seems to get uncomfortable, too, fidgeting a bit and staring at the window near their booth. "She mentioned something about her husband and something about pleasure. And I thought--" he shakes his head. "Never mind, it isn't really relevant. The point is, I can't seem to get her out of my mind, and it's driving insane..." He sighs. "What am I doing, I know you're not a telepath. I shouldn't be--burdening you with this."

Supergirl has posed:
"No, I'm not one but I do know one. Or at least I'm on a team with one," Kara corrects as she manages to look at him again, worried that his mind might have been tampered with.

"Since the last time I saw you, I was invited to join the Justice League. I'm sort of a trainee but still part of the team. I could see if J'onn would be willing to look at your head, see what is going on in there? If she did tamper with your mind, to make you keep thinking abouther, we need to get that fixed. Unless you are just thinking about her for other reasons."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods. "If he'd be willing." He pauses. "Anyway, I'm sorry I keep springing my problems on you. I'm--happy you were invited to join the Justice League, that's pretty amazing." he says, smiling. "I definitely think you're strong enough to be an asset to the team."

The server arrives then, and sets the milkshake down in front of him with a smile and a "Here you go, sir." He peers at it and takes a sip. "Not bad. Been a little while since I had Earth cuisine." he chuckles. "Thanks, Kara. I don't know why, but for some reason I always manage to convince myself you wouldn't be happy to see me, even though I can't even think of any time you weren't."

Supergirl has posed:
"I'm never bothered seeing you, Lar. That's just silly. You're my friend. You always will be." Kara reaches out a hand to touch his arm briefly and give it a squeeze before bringing her hand back to grab her cup. "Even when we don't see each other all the time, that doesn't change."

A quick sip of shake before she continues. "Wait, why has it been a while since you ate Earth food? Have you been away?"

Mon-El has posed:
"I know, I know..." Lar admits. "It is silly. Like I said, I don't know why I get all insecure about things I shouldn't be. Maybe it's just my upbringing, I don't know. Royalty always had to do things a certain way, otherwise it was like, awful or something." he shakes his head, rolling his eyes a little bit.

He shrugs at the question about the food. "Oh, yeah. I've been away, Legion business and all. And I since I don't really need it, I don't usually uh, eat it unless I'm spending time with terrans, or people who um, grew up on Te--I mean, Earth. Yeah."

Supergirl has posed:
Kara giggles slightly before nodding. "Earth. Legion business huh? So both of us have been busy. Although you've been busier, hanging out with crazy people who hate me for no good reason and maybe I should meet this person and find out why they don't like me but really, that's just asking for trouble so to each their own." Somehow that all comes out in a single sentence without a pause for breath.

"Yeah, being royal that would make things a bit different when dealing with the 'little people'. Plus being who, or should I say what, it probably is automatic to think I may do something mean or something."

Mon-El has posed:
"Nono," Lar says quickly at that last comment. "I--" A more resolute look comes across his face. "No. It's not that at all. After I met you, I uh, I stopped thinking like that. Completely. I swear." Though he'd like to believe it, that may not be 100% true. It's hard to just put aside the way you were -raised- to think. "And we just, had to do things a very particular way when we were in public, that's all. Not that we--I mean, we did. -They- did. Look down on commoners, that is. I didn't."

Supergirl has posed:
"Got to keep up appearances," Kara says with a nod before another sip of that milkshake. It's getting pretty low now. "It's like the royals here in England. They have to be sure they are always very proper when they are in the public eye. And even in private, half the time since people might see them." She shakes her head and looks him in the eye. "I wouldn't be able to stand that. I'm too much of a derp," she adds with a soft laugh.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods, sighing when she mentions the British royalty. "Sounds about right. Ugh, you haven't the slightest. I couldn't stand it either, to be honest." He stands up, picking up the milkshake. "Well, let me know if J'onn is available. Otherwise...you're always welcome to come hang out with us on the Cruiser." he smiles. "I'm sure you could stand to get away from this town every once and a while." Wink. Then he takes his leave.
