Cast of Characters: Zombie-Girl, Jennifer Kale, Smart Alek

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl walks briskly down the streets of Kingsbridge. She wears a long coat with a hood up and over her head in an attempt to at least somewhat obscure her strange appearance. Dark goggles obscure her eyes. She seems to be looking around at the buildings. In her hand she holds a pen and a tattered notebook.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale has been back in the New York area for a little while, now, and ever since her return something has felt... off. Not something she could easily put a finger on; more a general feeling. It feels stronger at night, so tonight she decides to skip work and do a little searching.

Weaving a divination spell together with a teleport, she finds herself in Lower Yonkers. Not that the Florida native has a clue where that really is. It's all a jumble of streets and buildings to her.

Jennifer steps out of an alleyway into the street, wearing a cropped top and baggy, bellbottom jeans. The figure in the long coat with the hood gets only a brief glance, at least at first.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek is staring into the window of a electronics store, his eyes have a faint blue glow to them, as if they were internally lit, he seems to be gesturing with his hands and is dead silent, it's not unheard of in New York to be wierd but it stands out a bit.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl bumps into Jennifer. She keeps her head down to try to keep attention off of her the best she can. She's a solid thing and the bump is a solid thump. "Yeah sorry, " she says pushing past. Unfortunately she doesn't realize that she's dropped her notebook after the bump, seeming only to put some distance between herself and the other woman.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Perhaps Jen was distracted by the guy with the glowing eyes, but when the girl in the hooded coat almost knocks her down the reaction is instinctive. There's a brief surge of magic as her shield-reflex triggers, keeping her from landing on her butt. Since she's surprised, there's an amber flash as well.

Shit.

Seeming to recover her balance, Jennifer notices the notebook. "Hey! You dropped something." She calls out. And that's when she catches the whiff of necromancy.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek is in his own little world, not noticing or paying attention to those who are wandering by. The flash however does bring him out of whatever trance he is in. He glances around a bit, "What was..." he skims right over the two nearby woman, he's not sure what it was.. he looks up at the sky, maybe it was lightning?

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl wheels around when she catches sight of a weird flash out of the corner of her eye. That and being told that she dropped her notebook. She tries not to look up, but cautiously retraces her steps. The notebook seems to have some very peculiar things in it. Drawings of magic sigils of a decidedly demonic origin with an address written below each one. She walks back to Jennifer and quickly leans down to scoop up the book.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale looks down at the notebook as well, and as the other girl leans down to scoop it up the blonde rises slowly along with her. "I recognize that writing." she offers softly. "But you have nothing to fear from me. I have seen dark places and have returned."

Hearing Alek, she speaks more loudly. "Everything's fine over here."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek eyes dance around the two, "Umm, Okay.. Everything is fine over here too." he looks back at the electronics in the window but he seems to sigh, as if they have lost their attraction for him. He looks around the area, his eyes not really settling on anything, "Normal noise.. nothing interesting.." he mutters.

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl looks between Alek and Jennifer. She stands back up with the notebook in hand. "Well I don't envy you knowing that language," she tells Jennifer. "I don't know how much I should trust someone who does," she adds. She shoves the book in a pocket.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale meets the girl's gaze evenly, replying simply. "My name is Jennifer Kale, and I'm a sorceress." It's said a bit louder than she probably should have, at least on the streets. "Whether you choose to trust me or not is completely up to you, of course. But ask yourself this: if I had ulterior motives would we still be talking?"

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek pauses a second his head tilted to the side, the light burst came from below not from the sky, it came from.. he pans over to Jennifer Kale. He ever so slowly begins to walk in that direction, he mutters to himself, "Photons came from below not above." He looks to Jennifer and Zombie-Girl, "You see a whole lot of photons.. they kinda were yellow I think. I thought it was lightning.. but it came from down low and over here."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl tries to consider Jennifer's logic. But a world-class intellect she is not. "I... guess not?" she replies as she tries to work out the logic of the statement. "I just know someone's been tagging up the sides of buildings with those symbols. Does that sound like regular gang banger behavior to you?" She glances back at Alek and his rambling that she doesn't fully understand.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale turns towards the buildings for a moment, looking over the graffiti. "Shit, you're right." she replies softly. "How could I have missed that...?" Alek approaches, then, speaking of photons. Things are getting complicated, and fast.

She turns towards Alek, then, offering a small smile. "Hi there. And yeah, you've got a good eye. Definitely a bit of a light show over here, but nothing out of the ordinary." Unlike his eyes. "I'm Jennifer, and this is..." No, she never got the other girl's name. "You do know that your eyes are glowing, right?"

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek says, "I'm a Mutant. Something I've been since I was born. I emit photons from my eyes. Having your own headlights is useful at times." he smiles a bit, "Okay, so everyone saw it. Usually I'm the only one who sees things, I mean I understand, we have our handicaps." His eyes never meet with yours, they are always looking towards something else, his body language also seems odd, as if he's unsure how to stand while talking to someone."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl crossess her arms, she still isn't quite looking up to meet Jennifer's eyes. Still if one were to look directly at her, they would see that her skin is the color of fresh concrete. "I'm Ay..." she starts to say but stops herself as she thinks better of laying that card on the table with people she's just met. "Zombie-Girl. You can call me Zombie-Girl." She grins at Alek and lifts up her goggles. Green light pours out of her eyes, like a pair of burning coals wreathed in hellfire.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale folds her arms over her chest, shifting her weight to one foot with a small smile. "A mutant and a zombie. Well that does explain a lot." she offers. "You have a name? I mean most people don't like to just be called 'Mutant' or something."

Looking from one to the other, she adds. "So how about we start with the infernal sigils in the graffiti? That's definitely not your standard tagging."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek says, "Zombie? Like.. eat brains zombie?" he looks towards Zombie girl.. and then to Jennifer, "Alek is my name. Not sure on yours... You guys know each other?" he looks between the two."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl shrugs, "Don't know much. Heard on the grapevine there was a turf war going on at a meth house. Went in to see it filled with dead thugs, and with the symbols painted on the walls. One guy was torn the fuck open. I think his heart was missing, but I can't say for sure. It was a mess." She arches a brow at Alek and says, "I don't eat brains."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
"Just met, actually. I'm Jennifer, and I'm a sorceress." Might as well, since everyone else is wearing hearts on sleeves. "And Zombie-Girl is unique, Alek, at least near as I can tell. But this isn't really the time or the place for such a discussion."

Jennifer shakes her head slowly. "Gangs and meth dealers don't write notes using infernal script. They're not generally that bright. There's definitely something bigger going on here."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek says, "I'm sorry for the ... racism? They do that to mutants too.. We're not all wanting to take over the world and stuff." He looks between the two, "I'm missing a conversation here? Meth, Gangs, and Symbols?""

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl pulls the notebook back out of her pocket and starts to flip through the pages. There are the Zombie-Girl's crude renderings of the demonic graffiti that she's come across in back alleys across the city. "Yeah. Stuff that you aren't going to pick up in the tourist trap magic shops. It's some serious blasphemy, but it's also graffiti. So it's like they are claiming the city while defiling it."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale crooks a finger to beckon Alek closer, tilting her head to take a better look at Zombie-Girl's notebook as well. The blonde touches a fingertip to the symbols, tracing along the writing as if reading it. She's careful not to actually -speak- any of it, however. "You're right. It's not as effective as burning dung and sprinkling it with fresh blood, but it's certainly a lot less messy."

Turning towards Alek, then, she clarifies. "These symbols are demonic, and they don't belong here. The fact that someone even *knows* about them is troubling. That they're being spread around in graffiti is even worse."

"Zombie-Girl, have you been keeping track of where the symbols are, as well as what has been written?"

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek blinks a bit.. "I should pay attention to the walls more.. I remember stuff with my hands more then my eyes." he reaches out to touch the notebook, "mind if I touch it? Maybe I can be on the look out for the symbols? Maybe help somehow?"

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl nods and points to the addresses below each notation. "Yeah. Probably gonna need like a map and some pushpins or some crap when I get a chance. I do know that whoever these guys are have the other gangs spooked pretty good," she notes. She holds the notebook out to Alek, "Knock yourself out."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
"Detective work really isn't my thing." Jennifer admits, "But I think Zombie-Girl's right. This would probably make a lot more sense if it was posted on a map." She looks around for a moment, pursing her lips. "Where the hell are we, anyway? Feels like New York, but not exactly New York City."

She watches Alek very curiously, then. "Your power is tactile. Interesting." Looking around, Jennifer adds. "Give me a sec to get my bearings." Eyes close and she concentrates for a moment.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek reaches out and touches the notebook, his glowing blue eyes twinkle like a hard drive light on your desktop a moment before he lets go, "Hmm, good quality paper. I guess, but yes, interesting symbols." he states plainly, "I can probably post this online for you if you want. But, it's secrets right, you don't want people running around drawing demon symbols right?"

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl shrugs and says, "It really ain't my thing either. But demonic activity is really really bad for the continuation of my unlife." She sighs and says, "I just need to find someone to do the thinking part for me so that I can cut straight to the punching." She shakes her head to Alek and says, "We don't need copycats picking up on this stuff. Though I guess most people wouldn't be able to decipher it anyway."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale shakes her head at the offer to post the symbols online. "Yeah, I don't think that's a really good idea. And if you post them online, you might actually be spreading their influence to the internet." Something occurs to her, then. "So, Alek, can you access a map of where we are? And maybe add the locations of the graffiti to it? We don't have pushpins and string, but a virtual map should do just as well."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek says, "I have alot of maps of New York, actually have them back to when it was New Amsterdam. I did alot of researching when I was bored at the library. Where we are... that's easy. And... what other positions did you want me to put on this 'virtual' map?""

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl riffles through the pages, "I guess just all of these locations. The first page is the symbol that I found with the ritual killing, so I don't know if it has more meaning than the others or what."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Blonde brows lift at the extent of Alek's data, and she whistles low. "Score one for Research." she offers softly. When Zombie-Girl flips through the pages, Jennifer interjects. "The ritual killing? Yeah, let's go back to that. There is a lot of power in death, as you well know. A ritual killing must have been done for a reason." She looks at the symbols and then the street location. "Anyone up for taking a closer look? I can get us there quickly. Perhaps there are still mystical traces left behind..."

Zombie-Girl has posed:
Zombie-Girl doesn't know exactly what Jennifer is talking about as far as getting there quickly, but she shrugs, "Sure. I'm game. Though the place has been picked over by Johnny law by now."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek says, "Ooh, these locations. From the notebook." He nods, "I can do that. And.. You can get us there quickly? Umm, how?""

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale steps between the two, offering a knowing smile. She slips an arm around Zombie-Girl's waist, the other easing around Alek's. "It's called 'teleportation', but that's really all you need to know about it. It's quick and almost instantaneous. An alteration of time and space, if you want to think of if that way."

Jennifer alters her thoughts, adopting the proper frame of mind. The address of the first location comes to mind after a few deep breaths. "Okay, here we go..."
