Iceman has posed:
There's no shenanigans planned today. Bobby enjoys the cold - and with it being his element, he feels the most comfortable with it. Especially as of later. Having set out hot chocolate in a large decanter, and a couple of mugs, he's trying to set a proper tone.

Finally, he sent a note to Lorna.

'Lorna,

We should talk. Backyard. I'll bring the hot chocolate and marshmallows. And whipped cream.

- Bobby

Polaris has posed:
Lorna came out of the Mansion in a soft, wooly coat. Her boots were like wise prepared for snow, and ice, and her steps glided over the accumulated snow drifts and ice without hesitation. She moved with a fluid grace that was merely because of her powers, hovering through the magnetic fields to lift her up and out of the cold. Still, she flashed Bobby a smile, in her gloved grip was the folded paper with the note between her fingers.

"Hey Bobby, hope I didn't make you wait too long. Is the coco still hot?" She called as she came out into the winter sunlight as she approached.

Iceman has posed:
"Still hot." Bobby piped up, rising to his feet to greet Lorna, before settling back down once she's seated, and pours her a mug, before topping of fhis own. "I've been thinking.. a lot. About the kiss the other day, your invitation.. a lot of stuff." he admits and reaches up to rub the back of his head.

Glancing towards Lorna, he tries to assemble his thoughts. "You know, I've probably been in love with you since I first saw you when were both teenagers." he admits finally, and sips on his mug. "And.. there's a lot that's happened." Letting out his breath, his eyes cast to the cocoa, watching the small cloud of white that forms on the surface of the chocolate as it melts.

"I put you on a pedestal. I mean, you were the most perfect person I could think of. And as we grew up, together and.." he clears his throat. "Against each other, I started to see how things weren't.. all that perfect."

"I'm so proud of you, Lorna. I mean, you are in Genosha, you're doing what you think is best for mutantkind." Now, Bobby straightens in his seat. "..but it's not the same thing that we're looking for, Lorna. You want to create a haven - a sanctuary for mutants. Someplace that holds the ideals of your father. And I..."

"Well, I'm the lucky one, Lorna. Everyone knows that I can hide my powers, pretty easily." he reaches up to touch his shoulders. "I know I don't stand out, but that doesn't change my thoughts on the matter. Or on the Dream." There's that word. "..I still want humanity and mutantkind side by side. Not segregated by an ocean. It may be a paradise, but it's a paradise.. that I just can't do, Lorna." There's more, but he's holding for a moment, because he's putting his thoughts together.

Jubilee has posed:
The back door opens up to reveal Jubilee as she heads out wearing a knit cap and a pair of mittens. Instead of her walk about yellow trench coat, she is wearing a purple puffer jacket and a pair of jeans. A pair of wireless ear pods are playing music, allowing her to hum away happily as she gives a few bobs of a hand in the air to punctuate the beat.

As she rounds a corner and spies the pair, she pauses, reaching up to tap at one of her pods to mute the volume. Brows lifting upwards, she angles herself to move away from them so not to interfere as she can tell by the look on Bobby's face it may be important, or intimate.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna picked up her hot chocolate, and she wrapped her hands around the mug to hold it close. To bring its warmth to her and hope that it would warm her as much as she wanted it to. Still, green eyes lingered on Bobby, and her eyebrows furrowed sharply at his words. Particularly as he moved from having a massive crush on her to that of her place at her father's side as of late. She looked down, her lips twisting into something like a grimace.

"I don't think everything that my father does is right, nor that it's the answer. I think that humans have every right to be there for their mutant children. That they belong together as a family, not apart.. But Bobby.." She trailed off, looking directly at him.

"Think about it from my perspective... I'm Jewish. How long, for how many centuries have people hated Jewish people? How many have //died//? I'm not saying that what happened to make Israel a country, is right or done well.. But it gave people a place to go.. when no one else wanted them." She looked down at her hot chocolate.

"I think mutants that have no where to go, deserve a place to heal. A place separate where they can learn who they are and be safe. Would I like to see this all over? Where humans and mutants can just live..? Sure. I haven't given up on the Professor's dream entirely.. But I don't think it'll happen anytime soon either.." She grimaced, and her voice grew soft.

She sighed, falling silent at the rest of what Bobby had to say, and she turned her gaze back to the mug of hot chocolate. Even Jubliee's entrance went unremarked, as the green haired woman seemed to sulk for a moment.

Iceman has posed:
"Lorna, I'm half-Jew. Did you forget that?" Bobby's words reflected that hurt. "My father, the Catholic, hates what I am. As much as he loves my Jewish mother, he hates the mutant me. Please don't bring religion into this." he says as he straightens up as if he was just kicked. "It is the same argument that your father uses. That because the Nazis committed atrocities, all Germans are therefore evil." he rumbles.

"I //know// how many have died. I've been in this fight for a long time, Lorna. As long as you have at times. And I've seen failure, success, I've cried, I've lost. And in that whole time, I tried to love." he laughs. "And I lost that too. And now, here it is. He bites down on his lip, and closes his eyes. "When I kissed you in the Danger Room the other day, I thought I knew what I was doing. Instead, I realized that sixteen year old Bobby isn't twenty-four year old Bobby. I liked you. I loved you. And you're always going to be my friend, Lorna. But.. I don't feel the attraction. That pull that was always around you when I was younger. Perhaps its because we just don't see eye to eye anymore. Maybe it's because I've just become comfortable to the distance."

He lets out his breath and drinks from his mug. Reaching up, he rubs at the corner of his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. "This will always be the argument. We're never going to see eye to eye on the future of mutants and humanity. Your father's ideals.. the Professor's ideas. They're never going to mesh. And we're both so embroiled, so -- wrapped up in those two opposing sides, Lorna - we're just the product of our teaching."

"And it's just not going to work. You're always going to be my friend, Lorna Dane. But.. I think I'm in love with something else."

Jubilee has posed:
Biting on her bottom lip as she listens from her awkward angle, Jubilee reaches up and taps the pod again in her ear to let the music rush into her head. She wiggles a finger out to tap the volume up higher on her phone, then starts trudging past as she bobs her head here and there in time with the rhythm of her high energy j-pop. Her boots crunch in the snow, angling for the garage.

Polaris has posed:
A grimace, and Lorna looked suddenly guilty at Bobby's words and she held her hot chocolate all the closer to her. Her shoulders rose higher and she kept her gaze low to the hot chocolate, which she promptly lost all interest in and set down on the table before her with a clink. She shoved her hands into her pockets as she listened, and finally pushed herself back into a standing position.

"No, not all Germans. But it certainly leaves it open that humanity, and mutants both have the capability for massive horrors, Bobby. I should have a family that loves me and was there to raise me. Instead I have a father that can't look past his trauma and I lack an aunt, grandparents.. everyone else that should've been there as I grew up." She bit out, her voice tinged with hurt.

"I'm not saying my father is right. But he's not entirely wrong either. Nor is the Professor. Both have their flaws. We were //kids// when the Professor taught us and threw us into the field. Who does that? Who trains child soldiers? Because that's what this school does. It raises people to fight for an ideal that they will never live to see. To risk their lives for a cause they will never benefit from." She exhaled a rough breath, and shook her head.

"You're in love with who I was Bobby Drake. Not who I am." She backed up then, making to leave, and almost ended up crashing into Jubilee.

Iceman has posed:
"Who would wage war on child soldiers, Lorna?" Erik and Charles will always be the frame of reference for the pair. "No.. neither of them.. neither of us are innocent." When Lorna gets to her feet, this is the part where Bobby would usually rise up to chase her down. To tell her that it's fine. That it's going to work.

But he doesn't move this time, frozen to his seat with a frown, even as Lorna nearly crashes into Jubilee. There's a grimace at that, a movement to rise, but he's unsure. "Goodbye, Lorna." he finally offers quietly. To himself. To her.

Jubilee has posed:
As she swivels on her feet, Jubilee runs right into Lorna as she was too busy staring anywhere else 'but' them so to give them privacy on her epic adventure towards the garage. "Oof!" She squeaks as she stumbles back a few steps. Oops. She gives an awkward look to Lorna as she reaches out to help steady her in case she goes flailing. "Sorry!" She says a bit too loudly due to the music in her ears. "Didn't see you there! Totally listening to music!" She reaches out to pop the bud free where the sound of music can be heard.

With a glance over to Bobby, then back to her, then a subtle glance to Bobby, she clears her throat, then taps the music off on the phone. "Uh.. whaddup guys? It's cold out here. I was just making my way to the garage to uh... grab some space heaters... for .. my bedroom.." She is such a bad liar.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna's temper was so linked to that of her father's inherited and violent. Her expression twisting with hurt and then defensive rage. She rapidly blinked back tears, even as she gritted her teeth and rolled her shoulders back. Her hands going to her hips. "Who created them in the first place?" She hissed, even as Bobby said good bye to her and she rounded to escape. To shut out the look on his expression and to hide the tears that threatened her own.

And promptly crashed almost into Jubilee. The green haired mutant released a sound at the back of her throat of surprise, shock, and nearly a choked sob all at once as she caught herself in the magnetic fields and stopped her downward descent into the snow and back where the hot chocolate sat untouched.

Lorna stood up straighter, brushing off her jacket as she looked from Jubilee back to Bobby over her shoulder and scowled. "Whatever. I'm leaving." She muttered, turning on her heels and making to flee toward the Mansion. Whether she meant she was leaving the backyard or the Mansion proper was impossible to say, as both were just as likely as neither.

Iceman has posed:
Bobby rises to his feet, and the word is there in his throat.

'Lorna.'

But this time, he chokes it down. He swallows it and pushes it back down. He knows if he says it, they'll fall back into that cycle. That same cycle they've been in.

And he has to let go.

Instead, he creates a small stand that keeps Jubilation from falling over. "You alright?" he asks her, before glancing aside to her, and then back to the green-haired mutant in retreat. He closes his eyes and then blows out a breath. "..need help with those heaters, Jubilee?" he finally manages, forcing himself to disengage.

Jubilee has posed:
"Uh .. Yeah, I'm cool, Bobbers." Jubilee says as he pushes her shades up to the top of her head. She re-situates herself, giving a long look of sympathy to Lorna as she starts off. She bites on her bottom lip, then moves to follow after her. "Uh ... I'm gonna .. do a thing.." She makes a motion with her hands towards the back of the green haired woman, giving her snowball friend a 'look'. "I'll catch ya later my dude. Stay Frosty." She puns him before she looks to catch up to Lorna.

Iceman has posed:
Seeing Jubilee's expression, Bobby gives a nod, and then moves to pick up the hot chcolate set up. "I'll just.. go .. somehwere." He'll figure that out at somepoint, but right now, space. Space sounds good.
