Location: Avengers Mansion
Synopsis: Steve Rogers makes Black Panther a full Avengers member
Cast of Characters: Captain America, Black Panther, Spider-Woman (Drew)

Captain America has posed:
In his attempt to research a claim of acquaintanceship, Steve was singularly interrupted. Now that the blood has been cleaned from the library table and his notes gathered from the floor of the second story of the room -- and after a change of clothing to yet another coat, this one a cream-fleece-lined zip-up in brown and a new pair of jeans -- the Captain can be found turning through the pages of the rescued requisition file from WWII. His ink color has changed, from blue to black given who knows where that original pen got kicked off to, but he's short-handing away in his spiral notebook. No brownie to be seen to accompany the fresh cup of coffee. The space around him is quiet, thankfully, and while he's frowning, it's in concentration rather than annoyance.

Black Panther has posed:
There is a soft rapping on the doorway to the library, indicating Steve has visitors. The trip back from the Shake Shack likely continued the conversation between T'Challa and Jessica Drew. The remnants of shakes - strawberry, and chocolate-banana - were consumed on the way. Now back in the mansion, a query to Jarvis has led them to where Steve Rogers is doing his research.

T'Challa will make way for the lady to enter first, following after and offering a greeting. "Good afternoon, Captain Rogers," he says. He's wearing a warm v-neck top that fits his form moderately snugly, with a soft leather jacket folded over one arm. "If it would not be disturbing you greatly, I was hoping to have a word with you," T'Challa says as they walk over nearer to where Steve is working.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica leads the way as T'Challa gestures, but she stands aside and lets him lead the way as she seems absorbed in looking over the library for signs of the debacle that deprived Steve of his brownie. Her brows arch as she realizes how well the place has been cleaned, even since she did her part. Two bags full of bloodstained rags and clothing. An espresso leather blazer and boots that would never be the same. Those same boots that Steve spit on. She sighs. It's been a rough few days.

Captain America has posed:
Hearing the sound of the knocking to announce someone's presence, Steve pauses in his research. His eyes rise and once he realizes it's simply T'Challa and Jessica rather than someone else unexpected, the tension leaves his body and face. He sets the pen aside and indulges in a little stretch in his chair to loosen up his back before rising to walk around the table to them.

"Sure, T'Challa, you're not interrupting anything important. Hey Jessica," he adds, giving the woman a small smile. A hand is offered out to shake just in case anyone feels so inclined. Afterwards, Steve hooks his thumbs in the pockets of his jeans and looks between Jessica and the Wakandan king. "What's going on then?"

Black Panther has posed:
The hand of the Super Soldier is indeed shaken by T'Challa as he sees it offered. T'Challa leans against a table, crossing his arms just below where the silver gleam of a tribal necklace can be seen beneath the v-neck shirt. "The Avengers have been very welcoming to me. We have worked together countless times. The people here are as family to me," T'Challa says.

"I would like to become a more formal member of the team. If you all will have me. What I have mentioned is reason enough for me to wish this. Though I also hope it will serve as a guide to the rest of Wakanda. A beginning to seeing the Black Panther as not only a protector of a nation, but of people everywhere," T'Challa continues. "I would of course need to spend lengthy amounts of time in Wakanda. I am not stepping down from my throne. But I believe I can work out being available to the team. Far more than I have in the past."

Captain America has posed:
The Captain listens, his gaze attentive and head turned a degree to bely his interest in what T'Challa puts forth. His brows lift to hear of the man's request -- it is a change from last spoken status of ally to the organization.

"I wouldn't ask you to step away from your country, not without good reason," Steve reassures T'Challa. "You mentioned some new outreach to nearby countries to Wakanda last we spoke. It isn't going to be inopportune to leave this at the drop of a hat? Doesn't matter what time in the morning the alarm goes off, you gotta scramble if you're needed." For all that his tone is serious, there's the implication of dimples at the corners of his lips. His eyes briefly slide to Jessica and then back to the King.

Black Panther has posed:
T'Challa's expression and nod at Steve's question might give one the impression he has been giving that thought as well. "There will be issues along the way. I expect that. But there may be good in making others amongst my people take on a larger role. Wakanda cannot rely so exclusively on the Black Panther. Any more than the Asgardians can rely solely on Thor," T'Challa says.

"I will be there when the Avengers need me. I have seen how the team has balanced the needs of others. Thor being the most obvious. I trust this is something that we can make work," T'Challa says. "If there is room for it, I would like to install a holographic communications system in the mansion. Something linked directly to Wakanda. It might reduce unease back home at how much I am away if I can attend council meetings and sit in judgment as needed, even from here."

Captain America has posed:
"Since SHIELD's got the holographic communicators, you can bet Tony's installed them or something like them around here. I'm sure he can be convinced to work with you on any modifications needed to let them connect to you and to Wakanda." Steve scratches at the back of his neck in passing, probably wondering just how nicely the aforementioned genius-inventor's going to play with another line of technology. "I don't see a problem with attending meetings like that. I've had to do it from time to time with SHIELD."

The Captain then smiles, seeming delighted if quietly so. "You let me know which room you want and I'll let Tony know that we need to update your file in JARVIS's system, get all your medical history uploaded so the Medbay staff downstairs can handle any problems that we run into, things like that." He pauses and the smile gets a touch cheeky. "You'd better be ready for cat jokes. I'm not gonna be able to stop them. My influence only extends so far."

Black Panther has posed:
T'Challa breaks out in a smile, and a chuckle is drawn out about the cat jokes. "At least Clint does not seem to be here regularly to make them. It will give me time to prepare some Robin Hood responses," T'Challa tells Steve Rogers. The Wakandan pushes back upright from where he's sitting against the table, uncrossing his arms to offer Steve Rogers his hand again. "Thank you my friend. It will be good to stand beside you and let my affiliation be known," he says.

T'Challa looks over to Jessica, lips pulling back in that small lopsided smile. "And now it is even more important we get that simulator time in. And I am in a good enough mood I can probably forgive one intentional web-hanging from the ceiling," he tells the young woman, likely referring back to some previous joke, given his expression.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"That's accidentally on purpose," Jessica reminds T'Challa with a laugh. "Steve..." She begins, looking him over. "Everything still going all right regarding the ah..." She makes a few crazy circles alongside her head. "I mean, any new breaches or assaults? I am pretty concerned after this last one. And, I believe, rightly so."

Captain America has posed:
"We're happy to have you along for the ride," replies Steve initially as he takes and shakes T'Challa's hand with the usual firm sincerity. Hearing that the Panther might end up strung from the ceiling by webbing brings forth a few seconds of a grin. He makes no comment, however, and plans instead to watch the playback of the session. No doubt it'll be entertaining and enlightening in its way.

Jessica's question is enough to wipe the grin from his face. "No new breaches since then. I'll probably have to talk to Tony about blocking his teleporter's signal. I'm sure there's a way to have the signals...counteract one another or something. A wall." Because apparently, the physical walls of the mansion aren't enough.

Black Panther has posed:
T'Challa chuckles warmly at the reminder from Jessica. "Indeed," he replies softly. Though as the discussion turns to more serious matters, T'Challa falls quiet to listen. Expression turning more serious. "Has the mansion been breached then?" T'Challa asks, glancing between the two. After a moment thought seems to strike the well-groomed black man and he raises an eyebrow. "Or is this part of the Wade thing?" he asks, glancing between the two of them.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"The Wade thing," Jessica says quietly. "He needs help. Or a friend. Something..." She sighs and shakes her head. "He seems to be reaching out for help, but he is doing it in all the wrong ways, and it's going to end up causing trouble, in the end, I'm afraid."

Captain America has posed:
"Jessica's got it in one." Steve sighs, his eyes sliding to one side as he squints. "He needs a friend. From what I can gather, everyone either humors him or pushes him away...or in Logan's case, sticks those knives he grows from his hands into him and *then* pushes him away. He seems fixated on me lately. I can be patient, but only so patient with his behavior." It seems like he feels somewhat badly admitting this, but the shrug is as truthful as his stance on things. "I probably gotta sit down and talk things through with him. He means well...weird as that usually is."

Black Panther has posed:
The information about the situation causes T'Challa to ponder quietly. His dark brown eyes go to Jessica as she shares her observations on Deadpool. As Steve confirms the young woman's intuition, it causes the corner of T'Challa's lips to twitch up, expression approving. "I trust you will be able to get through to him. If anyone can, Captain Rogers," T'Challa says quietly. "For blocking his means of entry? I will offer my assistance to Tony as well if he wishes it," T'Challa says.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"I think the Come to Jesus needs to happen /before/ he is blocked, though." Jess drums her fingers thoughtfully on the table. "If he finds himself in need..." She begins, casting a sympathetic glance at Steve, "and he finds he can't come here, I don't know what he would do. He's unstable. And sometimes....well sometimes he genuinely needs help. What could he have been capable of if he couldn't come here when he was injured?"

Captain America has posed:
"Thanks for the vote of confidence, T'Challa," Steve replies quietly even as he sighs again, his jaw gritting back and forth before stilling. "We'll see what Tony has to say. He's the technological guru around here. Jessica's right though. Last time he came through, he had wood sticking out of his skull. I didn't get shot, but I had a gun aimed under my chin for a second. Talk about a Come to Jesus moment then," he quips quietly. "It's on me to talk to him, I think. I'll find a way to do it outside of the mansion. That way, if things get unpredictable, no one else is compromised."

Black Panther has posed:
From the nod that T'Challa gives at Jessica's suggestion on the timing, he seems to think it a wise idea as well. "I have confidence you could avoid violence, Captain Rogers," T'Challa says. "Though I offer to be in the area when you do. Wherever you choose to talk to him. A little backup nearby is rarely a bad idea," the Wakandan offers. "Dealing with the teleporting may time some time. Unless Tony has done much work in that area already." T'Challa could be hypothesizing, or perhaps speaking from experience. Wakanda does have a kick-ass defensive barrier.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"I would be glad to accompany and stay in the area, too. But...downwind of him. We've seen that he is not at all resistant to my influence, so to speak. I certainly wouldn't be a good addition to meet him face to face. You know that I have your back, Cap. No matter what. Anything that I can do, say the word, and I'm there..." She pauses. "I'll even leave the popcorn at home."

Captain America has posed:
Steve nods briskly, seeming to emerge from the brief funk that put his features in a rueful cast. "Thank you both. I'll think about how to approach the situation and get back to you if I feel that I need the back-up. I'm going to hedge on not needing it because it might seem like I don't trust Wade, but maybe if you stay out of sight and on the comms, you can at least come running if things go to hell in a handbag."

Another sigh blown and he rallies, putting a mild smile on. "Don't wait on me to go get comfortable, T'Challa. Like I said, pick your room and then get your information to Tony. Jessica can show you around the place. I gotta wrap this up before the evening." He thumbs at the research spread out behind him. With a final nod, the Captain turns and walks back over to sit down again and bury himself in the past.

Black Panther has posed:
T'Challa nods to Steve's suggestion about staying out of sight. "A wise suggestion, Captain," T'Challa says. "Thank you. We will let you return to your endeavors," the Wakandan says of Steve's research that they interrupted.

T'Challa turns back to Jessica as he begins walking out of the library so they do not interrupt Steve further. "Leave the popcorn at home? You /are/ serious," he tells her, facial expression composed but for the bit of twinkle showing in the dark brown eyes. "I have my things in one of the guest rooms. I suppose I should probably choose somewhere more permanent. Do you have anywhere to be or would you like to help me select a room?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Oh, I can certainly spare time to help get you settled," Jess replies. "I have a room here, for when I'm staying close. And a home elsewhere, for when things are less hectic here. At the moment, I've been spending my time here, which leaves me far more time to help wherever I'm needed. Or...to web people to the ceiling, who need to be webbed." She winks and finger-guns, then looks back to the door. "I know Tony has larger rooms, far more befitting of someone like you. I'm sure Jarvis can direct us to something more suitable than one of the guest rooms." She looks back as she opens the door and holds it open. "Shall we, then?"

Black Panther has posed:
For all that T'Challa holds doors open for her most places they have gone, when she holds it for him the man has no issue with passing through and letting her. "Thank you," he tells her. T'Challa has a soft smile, the young woman's zestful way frequently seeming to bring that out in him. They walk along towards his current guest room.

When they arrive, Jessica might notice there are more clothes than fit in the bag he brought. Perhaps someone from the embassy brought them over. T'Challa puts a few other belongings back into the bag. There are a number of small things set out on one of the tables. Some of them look like they might be some sort of electronic devices, others may look like jewelry. One is a necklace much like what he is wearing.

"Miss Drew?" T'Challa asks as he is putting a few things into the bag. "If you do not consider it too forward of me. I was wondering if I might call you Jessica?" he asks, looking up and over to her.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Of course," Jessica replies with a smile, watching T'Challa sort through his things. "I'd actually feel more comfortable with Jessica. Miss Drew sounds so....so formal." She looks around the room, then. "Is there anything that I can do to assist you?"

Black Panther has posed:
The answer draws a smile from T'Challa. "Then I wish that I had asked earlier. Jessica," he says, the smile growing a bit as he uses her name for the first time. T'Challa puts the various small items into the bag and then picks up the other necklace. "If you would like to carry the bag while I get the clothing," he tells her, though T'Challa does not make a move for the closet yet.

"Would you like to try this on?" he asks her. It's a gold necklace, a tribal pattern that is mildly reminiscent of spear heads, though not sharp and far more artistic than militaristic. "This is one of my Black Panther suits," he tells her.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica reaches out tentatively to touch the necklace, until he tells her what it is. "Really?" Jessica asks, pausing in her reach. "It's beautiful...I didn't know--" She tilts her head. "That's incredible," she says, finally touching the piece. "Amazing what you can do..." For once, she seems speechless. It's not a common thing for Jessica.

Black Panther has posed:
"I think it is amazing what you can do," T'Challa tells her with a smile. "There is much technology in the suits these days. It was not always the case, for the Black Panther." T'Challa will motion with the necklace towards Jessica's neck, asking permission non-verbally.

If he receives it, T'Challa will open the golden necklace and place it around her neck, refastening it. "You do not have the connection right now to control it fully," T'Challa tells her. "But I have unlocked a few things on it. If you touch the center icon here, it will cloak you in protective armor," T'Challa says, motioning to show her where.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica lifts her hair so that T'Challa can place the necklace around her neck. She turns to a mirror first, and admires it breathlessly. "My suit...it's not really even technological," she says with a half-smile. "It's just this bodysuit, really." She reaches uncertainly for the spot that T'Challa has indicated. "Here?"

Black Panther has posed:
Black Panther stands behind Jessica, admiring her image in the mirror. "Yes, there," he tells her quietly, and gives an encouraging smile. Should Jessica touch the spot, a black substance seems to rush out of the necklace, covering her body. It is nearly body temperature and feels not too different from a smooth elastic. Though it might be surprising in those first moments, it probably doesn't feel too different than her normal costume in most ways.

However, her head is fully covered, and she has a heads up display inside of it. "It will see into infrared and other spectra of light," T'Challa tells her softly. He also gives her instructions on how to retract the head piece fully if she wishes. It doesn't seem to restrict her vision as it is though. "The material will stop kinetic energy. A bullet would lose its speed. And fall to the ground. Or you could jump off the top of the mansion. The soles of your feet would just absorb the energy as you landed. Feeling not much different than taking a normal step."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
A breath can be heard from Jessica as the suit covers her, and she simply stares at her reflection for a moment in silenced awe. "This is incredible. It seems so...easy." She moves a little in the suit, raising her arms, and feeling the weight and elasticity of it against her skin. "I never imagined it would feel like this," she says to T'Challa. She turns to face him, then, looking down at herself and back up to him again. "I somehow don't think I do the suit the justice that you do," she adds with a quiet laugh, doing as he instructed to retract the mask. "It /is/ incredible. As always, I'm in awe of you, and all that your people can do."

Black Panther has posed:
As with most super hero costumes, the outfit melds to Jessica's body in a flattering way. Joel would be losing it about now. After a brief glance as she activated the suit, T'Challa's gaze has stayed on her face. but he replies in a way that is both teasing and mildly suggestive. "An argument could be made that you more than bring the suit justice," he tells her with a modest smile.

"Thank you Jessica," T'Challa tells her of the compliment. "My sister Shuri is our lead designer. She is quite brilliant. Can accomplish in hours things that might take me days. Her adaptive technology, which lets the suit emerge from the necklace? Truly innovative," he says. It is very easy to hear a brother's pride as he speaks of Shuri.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Then the necklace you wear...Is that your suit? The one you wear in battle?" Jessica asks, running her hands over the suit, surprised at how light and detailed it is. "The way I heal, I have never once thought to do something like this, not even with the technology that Tony has available that forms his own suit. Maybe at some point I need to consider an upgrade..." She chews her lip thoughtfully. "I may be able to heal from bullets, but they hurt like a moth--" she covers her mouth, eyes wide. "I should...yeah, I should get out of this suit, this isn't getting your things moved to someplace more befitting of you, at all, right?" She turns pink and takes a deep breath, exhaling with an audible sigh.

Black Panther has posed:
Black Panther glances towards the door to his room. It is open, but no one is there. "I do not think that Captain Rogers heard you," T'Challa says, his gentle smile might be enough to sooth any unease about using the language in front of him. "And I imagine they would hurt. Like a mother," T'Challa tells her.

If he is allowed, he takes her hand and guides it back to the necklace. "Press here, to retract the suit. Someone else cannot do it. For obvious precautionary reasons," T'Challa tells her. "Jessica, I appreciate the respect you show the throne of Wakanda. But I am also just another man. Another member of the team." He smiles to her and says, "But I would not mind a room with a view. And if it makes Clint jealous?" he comments, then gives a grin and shrugs. "I could live with that too."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess nods, and touches the necklace, her blush fading, and the suit retracts effortlessly, as if it were never there to begin with. She smiles, then. "Well, I'll help you to any end that might make Clint jealous. But first..." She then she turns slightly, lifting her hair. "Help me...?"

Black Panther has posed:
"Of course," T'Challa tells her as she turns for assistance. He unhooks the necklace and removes it from around her neck. It goes into the bag, handled with care that is more a matter of his respect for the item than from fragility. T'Challa will offer her the bag to carry, it's just a small carry on size, while he pulls out about a week's worth of clothing from the closet, just carrying the garments on the hangers.

"Please, lead the way," he tells her when he is ready to go in search of a new room. He will be keeping an eye out for Jessica's room. Perhaps suspecting it may be in a state of disarray, presenting opportunities for the man with the subdued sense of humor.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
One door, down the hallway, is closed, but marked with a gold spider that matches the one on her chest amidst the webbing. "Jarvis, can you guide us to one of the guest suites?" She turns and grins at T'Challa. "One with a view. It is for T'Challa."

"Of course, Miss Drew." Jarvis' response is ever polite, and within a few seconds, the disembodied voice resonates through the hallway again. "It seems Suite Seventeen will be suitable for your needs. Please proceed to the end of the hallway, and you will find it behind the last door on the left. It affords a picturesque view from two sides, with two sliding glass doors adjoined by a corner balcony."

"Thank you, Jarvis." Then, turning to T'Challa, she shrugs. "I couldn't find my own backside without Jarvis in this place..."

Jarvis' voice replies quickly, "You will find your--"

"I KNOW, JARVIS, OH MY GOD...will somebody teach him what sarcasm is?"

Black Panther has posed:
Black Panther breaks out in full-on laughter. Not the chuckles and such that Jessica has experienced before. It is warm laughter and he smiles over to her, resting a hand on her back briefly. "Oh Jessica," he tells her, beaming a smile over to the woman. "You asked of what palace life in Wakanda is like? It lacks moments like that," he tells her, chuckling warmly still.

As they pass her room, T'Challa almost pauses, but decides against it. He knows where it is now, and can stop by another time when he is not already graced with the woman's presence. They arrive at the room that Jarvis has directed them to. "What do you think?" he asks Jessica, letting her go inside first before following and looking about.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica is, once again, painted with a deep pink flush. "Well, just so you know that if you ever lose your ass in a poker game or something, Jarvis will know where it is, and tell you, no matter who's around to hear." She sighs, and reaches for the door latch, which clicks just as she touches it. Now unlocked, Jessica opens it easily and leads T'Challa inside.

"It's really nice, WAY nicer than what you had. Bigger. Ohh there's a kitchen. And a bedroom...and a BIG bathroom. Wow, you could take a bath with both suits in this tub..." When she reaches the living area again, she nods. "It looks perfect to me. What do you think of the view?"

Black Panther has posed:
Black Panther moves to hang up his clothing to free up his hands, and then follows Jessica around the suite. Looking at each room but letting her lead the exploration. "It is quite nice, yes. And I love the bathroom. I noted two shower heads. So one side is not cold? For an African in New York City in January? That has appeal," T'Challa tells her. with a soft grin.

He moves over to open the doors out to the balcony. Avengers Mansion has an entire block to itself, giving plenty of space for grounds around the facility that will leave a nice view. T'Challa moves out onto the balcony, past some patio furniture, and lean against the railing as he looks out. His back to the young woman for the moment, he looks about the trees and sculpted grounds. "I find the view most appealing. And you, Jessica?" he asks.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica furrows her brow at the quandary, and peers back into the bathroom. "Huh. Yeah, maybe that's why. But knowing Tony and his designs..." She shrugs, and lets that thought go.

Standing in the doorway behind T'Challa, Jess watches him take in the scenery. It's a quiet moment for him, and she's happy to let him enjoy it. "Well," she replies, "it's the best view this place can afford, I think. Not that it has a bad side, but this side's definitely the best." She sets down the bag just inside the door and joins him to overlook the property.

Black Panther has posed:
Black Panther looks about the view, which goes a full 270 degrees thanks to the wrap around balcony at the corner, and then turns to Jessica as she joins him. "And perhaps we can put up a fake billboard across Clint's window some night," T'Challa suggests. He smiles and turns to glance up the side of the building.

"Jessica, I am curious. Are you able to climb walls at any time? Do your feet have to be bare? Or does it work through shoes?" he asks her. He motions to the wall. "I know I will see in the simulation room. But would you favor me with a demonstration?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess laughs at the billboard idea and shakes her head. "You're going to be trouble, you know that?"

Then, in response to his question, Jess looks up at the wall. "It's a lot harder to do in rubber-soled shoes. It's much easier to do in flexible shoes. But I don't ever wear rubber soled shoes, for that very reason." She shrugs slightly. It works best to be barefoot, but my suit has kevlar soles, and they work quite well." She reaches down to slip off a boot, revealing a crimson stocking of sorts, with a kevlar sole of the same hue. Then she slips off the other boot, and sets them together inside the door. With one effortless hop, she clings to the outside wall, above the doorway, and looks down at T'Challa. "Surfaces don't matter, I can draw from anywhere, really."

Black Panther has posed:
T'Challa gives a guilty grin to Jessica as she laughs at the billboard idea. He brings a finger to his lips in a shushing gesture. "One of the hidden benefits of being a king. Few people suspect you of practical jokes. So long as you look dour enough," he tells her.

T'Challa moves over to get a better view as Jessica hops right up. "That is remarkable. I wish I could do that. I would leave holes in the building to accomplish that." He walks over to where she clings so effortless. He reaches out his hand towards her, palm vertical and flat. Motioning to his hand, T'Challa asks, "Does it only work on substances like stone or wood? Or can you use it to maintain a grip on another person?"

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Works best if you aren't wearing rubber soles, too, but..." Jessica crawls downward to place her palm flat against his. She curls her fingers only lightly around his hand to secure it, but does not grip. Effortlessly, she begins to lift him into the air. It requires no lifting on his part...she lifts him several inches off the balcony and smiles. But as his arm still bears the weight of his own body, she won't hold him there too long. "It's all static electricity. Just...a lot of it."

Black Panther has posed:
Black Panther's face breaks out in a smile as she lifts him without having to grip his hand. He doesn't seem to have any difficulty with her lifting him by his arm, it not seeming to cause any undo strain. "Marvelous," he tells her, seeming quite intrigued by Jessica's abilities.

T'Challa seems to start to ask her something when Jarvis chimes in. "Sir. There is a call from the Wakandan embassy. Would you like me to put it through?" T'Challa's face shows a touch of disappointment to Jessica as he tells her. "Please forgive me. But I should see what it is." He smiles to her though when she sets him down, inviting her back inside before the January chill becomes too much, as he goes to take the call.
