Cast of Characters: Polaris, Iceman

Polaris has posed:
It was a cold day outside, and there were threats of snow on the horizon. The typical winter weather for New York and Westchester. Inside was warm however, and classes had ended a few hours ago. The second semester was about to start and for some that meant there would be grades to post, and for others grades to collect and grade. Doubtless other teachers had come and gone from the faculty lounge, and sought out dinner or to escape in literally doing anything else beyond the realms of paper and red ink.

The tv was on in the background, and Lorna stood there before it, watching it with a rapt focus and attention that the green haired woman rarely displayed. She frowned, and waved her hand, the channel changing to a news caster talking about international situations and some new crisis with trade deals gone awry.

Why was one Lorna Dane in the faculty room when she wasn't even a teacher? At first glance, it was hard to say, other than it was quiet and not the rec room which was currently packed with students trying to avoid doing their homework for a few more hours.

Iceman has posed:
Carrying a stack of papers to work on grading, Bobby is on the tail end of teachers making use of the facilities. As he arrives in the lounge, there's a pause as he sees Lorna standing there. "Did you need something, Lorna?" he asks curiously. "I have like.. a million extra copies if you need something duplicated."

Yes, he just made the joke about duplicates in light of his own situation. Moving to set the papers on the desk, he glances towards the TV. "Anything interesting on?"

Polaris has posed:
A glance was spared toward Bobby, and Lorna shifted on her booted feet. Her clothes were new, or at least not those she'd worn in the past few weeks since her return to Xavier's. She had been gone for a few hours, but had returned. Shopping wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibilities. There was a metallic scent in the air though, as she waved her hands and the television clicked off. Lorna turned more fully around to look over Bobby with a hitch in her eyebrow.

"No, not really. I thought it would be quieter in here than in the rest of the mansion, I didn't mean to interrupt you or.." Her gaze dropped to the papers, "Your grading." She drawled lightly.

"I can go."

Iceman has posed:
"You don't have to. I mean, I don't mean to make you uncomfortable. I can work on this someplace else." Papers waved, Bobby offers a slight smile. "You look nice, Lorna. Did you get home? Or just get in some retail therapy?" he asks. One of him is a pain enough, he can only imagine what two of them would do to someone.

"Just a pop quiz I did today, to keep everyone on their toes. I may not even grade it. But they don't need to know that." he offers with a wink as he moves over to file 13 to place the papers within. "How was your trip?" Home or the mall - he leaves it nebulous.

Polaris has posed:
A tilt of her head followed, green hair spilling over her shoulders as she considered him and made to plop down into one of the many plush chairs grouped around the room. She crossed her legs, leaning back and resting her arms on the back of the chair. "I went to home. My father was concerned about me. The whole concussion thing didn't please him and Pietro got pissy too, but that's you know.. what big brothers are supposedly for and all." She muttered, making a face.

"I had to let my father know that there was mimics out there, incase they target someone else that's not in the X-men. I don't want to know what might happen if they targeted a member of Genosha's council or something.." She muttered.

A glance was spared for the papers and Lorna's expression warmed faintly. "...Can't say I miss pop quizzes."

Iceman has posed:
Reaching up to rub a hand over his face, Bobby frowned as he digested the info. "Did you at least let Scott know you were going to inform Magneto?" he asks curiously. "Does he know who's been mimiced - or if they have been mimiced as well? And yeah, I can imagine your family wasn't too happy."

"And yeah. I'm probably pushover when it comes to being a teacher." he admits with a laugh as he finishes tossing the papers away.

Polaris has posed:
A shrug and Lorna pursed her lips, "No, and if Scott wants to yell at me he can. But what if there was a mimic that tried to pretend at being me, Bobby? What if it strode into Genosha, or downtown New York as me and did something to start an international incident. People know who I am, what I look like. It's no secret exactly. I had to warn my father, because if something happened and I didn't..? That would be on me. It would be my fault." She pursed her lips and shook her head.

"I'll take Scott's anger for that." She exhaled a sigh and tilted her head back, closing her eyes.

"Somehow I doubt you're a complete push over. Though, if you don't make all the puns and make those kids slap their forehead at least once a class, you're slacking Bobby Drake."

Iceman has posed:
"Just curious. I mean, I get it." Bobby says with a sigh as he reaches up to rub the back of his head as he glaces aside to Lorna. "You know Scott. He won't yell. He'll just get that disappointed pull to his lips and you just have to imagine what his eyes look like, and it's all sad and works too well to guilting yourself." he says, lips crooking into a small smile.

"I don't know, wasn't that long ago I was a student myself. I hope to at least make it entertaining. I know how dry math can be in the wrong hands and just you know.. would rather not be known for the whole 'Boring Teacher' bit." There's a small chuckle at that, before he bites on the inside of his mouth. "I'd be worried about it.. whatever it is.. trying to mimic Magneto. Or the Professor. I get the feeling it's just testing it's limits right now. I mean, that's the only reason I think it would pick me. I'm a pretty easy skill set."

Polaris has posed:
Another shrug, and Lorna lifted a hand to comb her hair back from her face as she heaved a heavy breath. "Who knows, maybe I'll get told off well and good for giving away X-men secrets." She muttered, rolling her eyes. Her lips twisting into a deep set frown that drew her expression into a somewhat pinched look. "If it's testing out people it's already gone for super strength with Rogue and now ice with you. Those are some pretty expansive abilities from a powers standpoint." She exhaled a breath.

"I hope I never have to see a mimic take on my father's form. Especially if it can mimic his powerset." She muttered, her voice dropping in pitch and volume. Then her green eyes turned back to Bobby and she arched a brow.

"C'mon, you couldn't be boring if you wanted to. You're too much of a natural comedian. Those kids must love having you teach them math."

Iceman has posed:
"I doubt it's much of a secret. Just more of.. an issue." Bobby shrugs his shoulders. "Oh, I took care of the report for you. I hate reports too." he admits with a scoff of laughter before he glances back to the green-haired girl. "Yeah, I'm pretty good at getting a laugh now and again. Like, you know.."

He considers for a moment and then grins slightly. "Why did the Romans find math boring?"

He gives her a few seconds.

"Becasue X always equalled 10."

Polaris has posed:
A grimace, "Reporting on ongoing X-men issues to my father without permission is a pretty shit thing to do, I know. But it's important that he looks out for our people in Genosha. I'm..." Her eyebrows furrowed sharply, "I'm worried about what could happen with this, Bobby. I told my father he needed to stay out of X-men business and mind Genosha. That's what he's responsible for and for the first time in a long time, I think it's something good that he can do to pay back to people." She exhaled a breath and trailed off at Bobby's offer of a joke.

She waited, and when she couldn't come up with the answer she shrugged, "I dunno, why?"

A pause came as Bobby answered and she stared at him for a moment, before a small snort of laughter escaped her and she smacked her hand against her forehead. "Oh my God, that's terrible Bobby."

Iceman has posed:
"Well, it's not really keeping him out if you keep bringing it to him?" Bobby asks diplomatically. That's the end of his lecture on the whole thing, after all as he draws in a breath. "I know, And I was a pain in the ass about it all.. I just, I guess I'm being cautious." he admits finally, his eyes lifting to hers. "Which was unfair to you."

"Oh, that's just the tip of the iceberg of bad math jokes." Bobby comments with a grin, "There's also the classic, What do you get when you cross an algebra class with prom?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna tilted her head as she considered Bobby, "It's keeping him in Genosha and it's keeping him occupied there. Or do you really think that my father is going to stay out of the messes going on outside of Genosha forever?" She drawled lightly, "I'm keeping him informed so that he can best take care of innocent people. Nothing more." She offered, and exhaled a breath as the subject dropped and Bobby continued.

"I'm not saying you shouldn't be cautious.." She hesitated as Bobby moved onto even more math based jokes and she paused tellingly.

"Uhhh.. I have no idea. Tell me.."

Iceman has posed:
"A quadratic formal." Bobby says with a smile.

"No, I know eventually he's going to reach out. To bring other mutants to him and Genosha." And to recall her is left unsaid, as he glances down and shakes his his head. Reaching up, he gives his hair a small tossle to try to break the tension he's feeling.

"So, back for a while?"

Polaris has posed:
Soft laughter escaped Lorna at Bobby's second math based joke and she slowly shook her head, a smile pulling at her lips. "That's terrible." She muttered, leaning back in the cushioned chair and she recrossed her legs as she considered if she knew any physics jokes off hand and promptly gave up. Jokes weren't her specialty. That was Bobby's territory. She heaved a sigh however as Bobby continued on about her father and what he might be up to.

"He doesn't have to. People go to Genosha willingly, it's not like there are many countries out there that will take mutants with open arms?" She grimaced and then finally nodded. "Yeah.. I'm back for now. Or until Scott gets sick of my antics and tells me to go find a hotel somewhere." She teased, only partly. It was clear the green haired woman didn't think she could keep on the good side of things long term.

Iceman has posed:
"Scott, throw anyone out? He's more of a pushover than I am." Bobby says with a small smile before he draws out a breath before he lifts his gaze back to her. "Anyway.. the hotels in Salem Center suck in the off-season." he offers lamely before blowing out his breath.

Polaris has posed:
A faint smile traced over Lorna's expression and she eyed Bobby from her spot on the cushioned chair, "Maybe, but color me a little less than confident in my ability to toe the line after a fashion... If that makes sense. I've had a year of more or less free reign to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted." Not that she'd sought out trouble in Genosha, and she'd still had to answer to her father and explain herself to the council if she truly went off the rails..

Not that she had. She had more or less, done as was expected of her.

"Anyways, that's fair. Most hotels around the frozen North up here suck in the middle of winter. Not much to see unless its skiing."
