Date of Scene: 12 February 2019
Location: Watchtower
Synopsis: After deliberations which included a presentation from Stark, the team will help the Avengers in their battle! Membership and Elections was also on the Agenda.
Cast of Characters: Superman, Iron Man, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Crusader

Superman has posed:
The call had gone out to all members of the Justice League. Members. Allies. Reservists. Probationary. Founders. All who had a device that accepted the signal from the current Chairman of the Justice League - Superman. There was a sense of urgency to the message that everyone received, a note of concern in the tone of the Man of Steel to his friends and comrades. Perhaps it was time for the Justice League to take a more active role in the defense of the planet that was their home - Earth.

As you enter the Justice Hall, a sense of history comes over you. In the last few years, this has been the centre of everything that had happened with the League, and tonight was no different. Except this time, you could also smell the exotic smells of caffeine wafting from the side tables. Coffee, tea, and various pastries and delectable goodies from all around the world, and elsewhere, were spaced out on the tables, as well as glasses, mugs, napkins, and small plates. There were also freshly squeezed fruit juices, water, and non-alcoholic beverages as well, for those more health conscious.

Near the head of the table was one man, standing, with his hands behind his back. That man needs no introduction of course. He was the current Chairperson of the Justice League, Superman himself. His eyes greet each and every one of you as you arrive, with a smile, and a nod, making sure to make every single person feel welcome to the gathering.

Iron Man has posed:
There's someone here that stands out for multiple reasons. Tony hasn't been up in the Watchtower, though he's been very smooth about the whole of it, as if he did belong there. In a way, he does, and his charismatic ease carries well. Besides, it's really no big deal; Avenger stuff gets crazy too.

Tony isn't in superhero attire, though, which does make him stick out further. No spandex in primary colors. He's not dressed for a business meeting, at least: he's in one of his sleeker tech type shirts and pants with an athletic style jacket over it - the type he'd wear if he was expecting to potentially need to don his armor. He's not going to wear it to some casual meeting, though.

Tony brought a drone with him, a flying one that's actually on the large size. It isn't doing anything naughty: no hacking or anything like that: it's a housing for one of the portable armors, and for various databases Tony brought. Tony himself is linked into it, using it as his own sort of 'hotspot', instead of being invasive or rude about the tech he's surrounded by. Which isn't to say he's not curious. Of course he's looking, and collecting whatever information is just laid out at his feet that isn't secured. Because Watchtower.

Tony enters and gestures across at the drone to park it off in a corner where it isn't in the way, and moves to greet Superman, picking up an alcoholic drink on his way over in his free hand. "Superman; it's been a while since the last world-melting event," Tony smiles, offering a handshake - Avenger leader to JLA leader. "Your 'elevator' is inspiring," Tony jokes, teasing.

Supergirl has posed:
This is all still extremely exciting for Supergirl. She hasn't been a member for very long really. While she is trusted with monitor duty and the like, just coming to the Watchtower still is a squee-worthy experience. The new and shiny has not worn off for the Maid of Might. Everytime it's like the first time and she can't stop smiling from ear-to-ear.

As she enters the room, she gives an excited wave and starts to yell out a greeting to her cousin when she realized that was probably not the appropriate greeting. So she dropped her head to her side--and headed for the food. Once she had a pastry and a cup of cocoa, with mini marshmallows on top, she sat down at the table. Where she immediately bit into the food.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince strides through the doorway as well, she's in her full armor, but its covered over by a black robe that her arms are extended through holes on the sides, showcasing the ornate and shining bracers covering her forearms. Her dark brown hair is down and it pools around her shoulders. Her blue eyes scan over the others present here and she moves to stand off to the side and out of the way.

With a slight dip of her chin she nods across the distance between she and Superman, in acknowledgment of him. It has been a little while since she'd seen him last, in the depths of his fortress with Jean Grey.

Diana's eyes go to Tony then and she gives him a nod as well, then she looks to Kara and she shows a soft smile to the youthful energetic Supergirl.

Superman has posed:
"Welcome everyone. Please, get some refreshments before we begin. The Agenda is not large, but is vital to the security of Earth, and of course, to our existence as a team." Superman's words are solemn and blunt. Picking up a tea cup, he takes a deep drink, and then puts it back down. As Tony approaches after grabbing a drink, Superman smiles, warmly.

Superman reaches out and shakes the man's hand. "Mr. Stark! I am sure there will be another "world melting event" just around the corner. The elevator...oh! Yes." Letting the man's hand go, Superman smiles. When his cousin Supergirl arrives, Superman looks around Tony, and winks at her with a smile and a warm nod in her direction.

Then, Superman turns back to Stark."It is a fine piece of engineering...I am so glad you could make it. I wanted you to present what was currently going on with the Avengers and that Sentinel thing that Green Lantern was telling me about. He would be here to chat, but he got called away. Galactic crisis of course. As always, if there was anything we can do to help!"

That was when Diana arrives. Pausing his chat with Stark, Superman nods politely at her, and says, "Wonder Woman! I am so glad you could come. It is good to see you again." As they settle in, Superman says, "Please, everyone, if you haven't already, grab some refreshments and we can begin. I pass on the Flash and Green Lantern's regrets. Also, if anyone has heard from Aquaman or Martian Manhunter, please, chime in. Our Agenda is pretty straightforward today. I'll get to that in a moment."

Iron Man has posed:
"That's one way to describe it; it is definitely a 'thing'," Stark smirks in answer, but leaves it at that for now. "I'm always up for a show; particularly when I have a part in it." Tony claims a chair next near where he ended up, which puts him fairly close down to Superman's end, and relaxes back in the seat, comfortably leaning back. He returns the nod to Wonder Woman with a small lift of glass to her and immediate smile.

Tony then looks over the controls in front of him, tilts his head, and begins to play with the console one-handedly while enjoying his drink. His attention is on the meeting, though.

Supergirl has posed:
Pastry in teeth as Superman gives permission for people to get food before they start. Oops! She blushes a little bit, despite the greeting smile from the more senior members of the team, taking her bite and chewing slowly as she sets the rest of the danish back on her little saucer. Then she sips her cocoa. Good thing about being resistant to heat? No scalded tongue from fresh hot chocolate. She doesn't say anything cause, mouth full. She was taught manners. Her blue eyes focus from one person to the next as she listens intently.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana moves toward the table where the drinks are and she gathers up a small metal cup and then moves toward the tea pot. She picks it up and pours herself a full glass of piping hot tea. With it in both of her hands she turns around to listen to the others and raise it up to her red lips for a gentle sip.

After, she lowers it down to hold it before her chest. "I have not seen J'onn since he declared his intentions to search for clues regarding the psychic events. I assume he was unable to find what he was looking for, however. But it is unlike him to check in. Perhaps I have missed the check, however."

Superman has posed:
Taking a moment to nod at Diana, Superman frowns, concerned. "Yes, he missed his check in, which is not like J'onn. Hmmmm." Superman takes another drink, and adds, "We'll have to table that for now. It might be something we need to consider looking into."

Then, taking a moment to look at each person present, Superman smiles at each warmly, and says, "Thank you for coming. I call this meeting of the Justice League to order. Present are Superman, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl, with Iron Man as the liaison with the Avengers." With that, Superman hits a button on the table, and the console bleeps, accepting the commands and recording the session.

"The Agenda. Old business, there is none. New business is to discuss the current state of affairs, upcoming Chairperson elections, and recruiting/current membership. Is there anything else anyone wishes to add to the Agenda for this session? I can add the search for J'onn in there Wonder Woman?" Superman takes a moment to allow anyone to speak up.

Iron Man has posed:
Tony leaves the console on the table alone for a moment and returns to his own personal tech, a pad pulled from a pocket as well as glasses, which he puts on. He'll get his materials set up and linked in. He's listening but as he is mostly exterior to the meeting, as a liaison and not a direct member, he isn't going to intrude (much) into running it. When asked if there's anything to add, he shakes his head, eyes down on the mix of personal holograms in his glasses and his datapad, prepping the section he intends to present.

Tony did look up, brows raised at the missing Martian, but doesn't comment about it.

Supergirl has posed:
"If we do find J'onn, I need him to look at a friend of mine. He thinks his mind may have been tampered with. Not official business but wanted to ask," Supergirl says softly before going quiet and focusing again on her hot chocolate. She feels so out of place speaking up but she had been trying to reach J'onn for a bit herself.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana moves to stand off to the side of Supergirl and she smiles lightlya t her. "When, we find J'onn." She quietly corrects Kara, only to show her a continued smile before she looks over to Superman and offers him a dipping of her chin in a nod.

"We must." She replies to him as though there is no choice in the matter, because to Wonder Woman there isn't. Not when it comes to the safety and security of her friends, team-mates and those she cares for. J'onn being high on said list.

"Beyond that, I have no pending matters to address. I... would assume Batman is not here because he has more pending matters than he can deal with, and a continue complete lack of desire of asking any of us for help with them." She shows a light smirk then takes another sip of her tea. She gives a glance over to Stark. "How are the Avengers? I left a flower arrangement with a... Scott Lang at your home in New York. He asked me out on a date and never called me. I am horribly offended." She grins very faintly then, suggesting that she's not.

Superman has posed:
"Absolutely Supergirl. We could use your help in trying to find him. I know how resourceful you can be. The task is yours." Superman makes a note of it on the desk with a few taps, and looks up as Diana speaks. "Exactly Wonder Woman. When." Agreeing 100 percent, Superman adds, "We must."

Meeting Diana's eyes, Superman nods, and says, "Yes. I haven't heard from him. I actually expected Batman..." Superman had almost said "Bruce", "...but you are right, as always. I am sure he'll be fine."

Superman chuckles at Diana's banter with Tony, and waits patiently while they chat. Then he says, "Excellent." Looking over at Tony, Superman introduces him. "Iron Man. Mr. Tony Stark. If you would be so kind as to give us a run down of the current threat your team is facing, and what we could do to help? That would help us determine what resources we could spare to help you and your teammates out."

Iron Man has posed:
"He didn't? How terrible," Tony says, offended for Wonder Woman, and winks at her and puts a few things into his device, clearly going to rib Lang about it. "Can't imagine what could have kept him from /that/; I'll see if he's shrunken and lost in our back yard again," Tony sighs, but his smile is similar to Wonder Woman's: relaxed. "Otherwise, we're putting resources into the last of the Black Sleep epidemic, and watching these Sentinels."

When addressed, Tony nods to Superman, and promptly takes over the hologram monitors. Tony and his shows. There's even quality sound. It's a LOT loud at first. "Just waking everyone up," Tony 'apologizes', and continues after fixing the volume.

There are several videos that the group has probably seen: the 3 story sentinels in action fighting alien monsters, and also later, fighting some humans and mutants in a protest. The mutant getting vaporized by a blast of a sentinel.

"So, overview, just to get on the same page. These robots were being manufactured for, I don't know, two decades overseas. They've gotten somewhere recently; I suspect they brought on some kind of inventor or brain to dig them out of the dark ages. In any event, they're decent, if large and clumsy. They've gotten wide-spread appeal, particularly due to BlackSleep: with huge sections of the military asleep, having robotic militant options really became very very poular, suddenly. And a lot of heroes were asleep, too. So, we have governments worldwide, including the US, that have bought huge battalions of these things. It's a new arms race of a robotic sort, if we're not careful."

"There's big reasons I didn't sell my robots to the military. These aren't anywhere near mine in potency, but the numbers could really be a problem. As is that they /don't/ have the failsafes I place, which ..." Tony gestures to the video of the sentinel murdering a mutant, vaporizing them in mid air. ".../isn't/ what that was. That was deliberate. They're /supposed/ to shoot nonhumans. It's all over their sensors and programming."

Supergirl has posed:
"I didn't mean..." Supergirl bites her bottom lip, realizing how that came out even though it wasn't how it was meant. She sets down her cup and focuses on what's going on.

When the holograms start up, she listens very closely to the explanations, frowning at the images of the machines vaporizing someone. "All non humans?" she asks cautiously, glancing over at Superman then back to Tony.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana firstly reaches over to place her left hand supportively atop of Kara's shoulder. She knows she didn't mean it that way, but it had to be said for J'onn's sake. She draws her hand back to her tea then and lifts it up for another sip as she listens to Stark's presentation and witnesses these Sentinels in action.... She'd been smiling about the Scott Lang part, who knows why he hadn't called... it didn't matter really. But that smile has faded entirely now that she sees these things in motion, in play.

"That is horrifying." Diana says/declares, upon seeing it seemingly vaporize someone. "No country should wield a power like that against its people. There is no justice in... in that." She has to bite down on her bottom lip to keep herself from ranting further on her distaste for it, its a twitch reaction for her, something she's had to control herself over the years. Passion and emotion against evil.

She looks between Superman and Tony then. "I understand these actions are a response to the fear of what we have recently gone through, but there must be other ways to calm these fears."

Superman has posed:
Superman listesn to the report from Tony Stark, absorbing everything, and recording it for the rest of the team. Rubbing his chin in a thoughtful pose, Superman remains silent as the man continues the display. When through the first leg of the presentation, Superman says, "That is a serious concern."

Looking over at Kara, Superman nods in agreement, reiterating the point. "Right Supergirl. Very good point." Looking back at Stark, with a glance, "I take it these...things are targeting certain people with a certain genetic makeup? Nonhumans you said?" It was like Superman thought the word mutant was so distasteful that he wouldn't say it. "That is reprehensible."

Relying on Diana's judegement in this, Superman looks at her, and listens to her carefully. His eyes meet hers, and agreement passes between them. "She is right, Mr. Stark. Horrifying doesn't begin to describe it. This is in blatant disregard for all we hold dear. The Justice League, and our resources, stand with you to end this threat."

Iron Man has posed:
"It's more of a list of intolerance," Tony replies to Supergirl. "Priority targets would be mutants; there's very little restriction on outright killing one for any infraction." Tony doesn't have a problem with saying the word, it appears. It's direct and they all know what he means. He ticks them off on his fingers as he talks through it. "Then people like aliens and mutated animals. Then other robots that might be threatening, which would include my unpiloted drones." Tony shakes his head. "There's some stray programming about protecting humans and cyborg types of creatures, so, those are clearly friends. It says a lot about the person that made them. A fear or hate of biological mutations or alien influences. It's a way to scapegoat a big part of the population."

Tony sighs, "I can deal with the symptom in a literal way, but this is getting out of hand, and I can't shut them off on a global scale. Besides, that would create worse problems with me exhibiting too much ...pressure. We need a /real/ answer to the question of 'what protects us if another Black Sleep happens'. Or at least improved countermeasures from these robots getting outside of where I can do anything about them."

Suddenly Tony refers to his device. "Sorry about this, I need a moment. Emergency, related to this, actually; just will take a few minutes." He stands a little abruptly. "Mind going to your elections and we'll return to this?" Tony asks. He has to handle the call. Joking and smiles have not fled, but Tony has switched into a focused mode.

Wonder Woman has posed:
It is a complicated issue. It is likely one of the most complicated issues facing Earth today. So much of humanity has evolved and progressed in ways unlike every before, but the various independent nations across the globe are still at ever unending odds with each other that they simply harbor an unsolvable distrust with one another... An inability to unify as a 'team' is a sure sign of an inevitable demise.

These are things that worry Diana, things that make her feel a sense of dread for the future. They're things she has to push down and try to overcome.

"I understand the merits behind an automated defense system, should we all end up... asleep... or worse. But I feel it has to be one that we have all agreed on, agreed on how it operates. That its operation is one hundred percent transparent to us, and to those we are attempting to protect. It cannot be in the hands of... people wanting to profit. And it cannot be used to... murder, innocents, simply because of their genetic differences."

Diana looks around at them all. "The League, the Avengers. We need to be in agreement on these defenses. We provide such protection with our lives already. IF we can all approve of an automated defense system, then those we protect will surely believe in it as well."

Crusader has posed:
Bjorn had been away for awhile, having been having some ventures, knowhere in particularly. But it was hightime he had returned to earth, and juging by the fact there was a meeting, no a moment too soon...

Infact urgently so after having seen a video of what occured in russia. With a running gate Bjorn bursts into the room, in just his jean overalls, a spear on his back and boots. He says profusely "Sorry, sorry. Bjorn did nit mean ta be of the late. Hope Bjorn haz nit missed too much, yes yes?" he says with a booming, but eager voice.

He practically slides to the side past a few of the people, grabbing a donut. Though he seems to opt to remain standing. "Oh. Also. It is of the great plasure to be seeing you all again" and he munches.

Superman has posed:
"Exactly Wonder Woman. I agree with that. This feels no different than many similar travesties that have occured in the planet's past. We won't allow that to happen." Looking at Tony, Superman nods. "I understand, Mr. Stark." Superman sighs. "That is even worse than I thought than. A nightmare, just waiting to happen. Of course your team will take point, Mr. Stark, and we can be the reserve. We also have some pretty capable members that can help you deal with some issues - whatever you need."

As Tony turns away, that was when Bjorn decides to arrive. "Bjorn! Good to see you! Welcome to the meeting. Come on in, grab a refreshment, and have a seat." Superman smiles. "You can access the files under Current Mission Priorities, and get yourself up to date. We'll be helping the Avengers with this. Mr. Stark can liaise with all of you if you wish to accompany the Avengers on any missions, and if he is okay with it, allow us access to his facilties."

Superman turns back to the table. "Well then, now that the hard stuff is over, we can discuss elections next." Superman moves to the table with the tea for a moment, and refills his cup. "Does anyone need a break to refresh? We can get through elections first, and then discuss membership/recruiting last."

Wonder Woman has posed:
After Tony separates himself, Diana looks to Superman just a moment before Bjorn's arrival. "We need to unite the League." She says to him. "We need to call everyone back and have them here to provide all manner of viewpoints and opinions on how to proceed with a true automated defense system. One that the Justice League and the Avengers... and perhaps Alpha Flight as well as others, can all agree on. It will be challenging, but it is essential. J'onn, Arthur... Batman. Everyone."

And then Bjorn arrives and Diana settles back into her chair. She looks over to him and she shows him a warm smile. "Crusader." She says, lifting her cup up for another drink of her tea. "It is very good to see you again. We have much to discuss here and will value any and all input you will have on the matter."

Crusader has posed:
Bjorn peers at a chair as Superman offers one "...chairs are Bjorn arch nemesis! Yer cannea be trustin them. Think dey will hold wan day, und then they just snap on yea. You hear this chair, Bjorn is nit falling for yer tricks" and the worst part is...he seems very VERY serious in that statement. He doesn't trust chairs.

But none the less he beams "Und thankl yer supes. Already combing the files for the infomation" before looking to Diana. For a long, long, long moment as if trying to register something. He facepalms "Oi! Harharhar! Well, guess et would be better if he was awake now, wouldnea it be? " as if he and Crusader where too different folks. "Still good to see yer Wonder Woman!"

He cracks his knuckles as if Rusty, before his forms shifts into that of Crusader, who stretches like he just woke up. "Ahem. Sorry about that. Get into a different mindset in space. Anyways, going through what One has read so far...we can certainly see the merits of an automated defense system. But One also finds the idea of a true automated defense system to be...questionble. For a number of reasons. And will be glad to fill in the whys. Though as far as elections, membership, and recruitment guess, it is best one abstains...since at the moment One is but an Ally and little else" seeming to have swapped a complete 180 from the happy-go-lucky-Bjorn.

Superman has posed:
"I agree Diana. We do need to unite the League. I will send out a message to the team, with a priority communique, to ensure everyone chimes in on this. I will also speak to Alpha Flight, good call. This involves all of us, so we will have to make it a team effort." Superman gets an amused expression on his face. "You could always run for Chairperson you know..." His eyes sparkle with a glint of fun.

Looking over at where Bjorn had sat, Superman says, "Crusader, your input is always valuable, of course. As for abstaining because you are an ally, we should discuss your membership soon, as your assistance becomes more common."

Turning back to the table, Superman taps a button, and says, "Next agenda item. As you all know, the bylaws of the Justice League state that the Chairman must be elected every year in order to prevent any semblance of wrong doing. Not that we would have that. So, I have set up a ballot so that we can first have nominations and then votes, in order to get this done smoothly and quickly. Nominations are to be forwarded to our system, and I will announce them so that we can begin voting. That agenda item was pretty easy. Any comments?" Superman leaves it open for feedback for a few moments, to ensure everyone is good to go.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana is lowering her tea back down to the table and she smiles softly to Bjorn. "Do not feel rushed. We know that you, like the rest of us, are very busy. But we certainly do look forward to hearing your opinion on what Stark has brought to us today as well as all else." She then looks to the quiet Kara. "Yours as well, Supergirl." She tells her, knowing the young one likely would feel a bit of uncertainty in this moment.

The Princess sweeps her gaze back to Superman and she shows him a faint smile, and then laughs very softly behind her lips before she parts them and exhales, then shakes her head. "That, and my duties as Ambassador to my people? I fear I would neglect something, with a lack of time. Whomever holds that job, needs to have the... freedom to do it right. I am not sure that that person is I."

Diana leans back in her chair then and her right hand goes up to dip beneath her hair and rub at the back of her neck gently for a second. "It is something I know that I have to think on, to say the very least."

Crusader has posed:
Crusader eyes the chair. Yea, he ain't sitting. He opts to just cross his arms, but none the less stays in the general facility of the chair. "Not really. Not so much as Busy as One is - spontanlious. Alot has been on our minds. None the less we will make sure to file a formal report about our concerns if not speak directly on it. Thank you both"
He than goes quiet as Superman explains their system, and how they vote for the chairman. He rubs his beard of tendrils thoughtfully for a moment. "Hmmm. No, no comments. Seems a straight forward enough system"

Superman has posed:
"Of course Diana." Superman's eyes find Wonder Woman, and his smile is bright. "I understand your duties of course. We all have our burdens. Think on it, and we can discuss it further alone, if you like. I would feel the team would be in good hands if you, or even Batman were the ones to take up the mantle. Something to think on."

Superman was not trying to hoist it off on anyone else. It is just his way, taking command only because he had to. It was something he just did, and he didn't shirk his repsonsibilities. All of them were leaders, in their own way.

"Now that that part of the meeting was done, we can move on to recruitment and membership. I see that Hal has put forward Green Arrow's name for membership, and made him a probationary one. If no one says "nay" to that, we can continue with that until he has proven his worth for full membership." A pause as Superman looks over at Bjorn. "Crusader. If you would like to commit to the League, we can also make you a Probationary member, if there is no dissenting voices, and you agree? What say you?"
