I Rolled a Yacht-Sea
Date of Scene: 13 February 2019
Location: New York coastline
Synopsis: Kitty's sailboat was smashed by a yacht, with Aqualad pulling her from the water
Cast of Characters: Shadowcat, Aqualad

Shadowcat has posed:
Her friend had invited Kitty Pryde over to her place on the coast once she found out that the twenty-year-old had flown back in from the UK a few days ago. It been a joyous reunion, but cut short as her friend got called into work. She suggested Kitty take her small sailboat out and enjoy her day rather than have made the trip over from Salem for nothing.

And so Kitty had drifted on the ocean, letting the wind carry her. A capable enough sailor, she stayed out until sunset and then turned back for the docks. The sailboat is small by any standards, one or two person at most, and only good on calm days out on the ocean. Kitty turns on a light to help other boats see her as she holds the rudder, cutting a course towards the coast and the docks.

Aqualad has posed:
As Kity Pride sails out in freedom over the sea, she'll notice what looks to be a large pleasure barge, something a rich person might own. except the pleasure of the hour is a shit-ton of alcohol, incredibly loud music, and of course drunken revelry. that ship completely dwarfs the size of Kitty's little sloop, and it seems to be barreling towards her!

meanwhile, underneath the waves, a humanoid swimgs far beneath the yacht, as if unable to tolerate the booming noise down there. Kaldur appropriately spends time with a Great White Shark, swimming along side it while holding onto it's fin.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde has earbuds in, listening to Dazzler of all people. Damn you, Jubilee, for singing her songs the other day! Kitty had been scanning the water for other boats, but of late the sail seems to be having a problem. It's flapping about as if it has come free of some of the places it is supposed to be secured. Tying off the rudder to get it to hold a course, Kitty stands up, grabbing hold of the boom to steady herself as she works to get the sail secured.

She only has a brief moment of warning, as lights on the front of the fast-moving yacht light her sail at the last moment. Kitty turns just in time to see the hull smash the tiny sailboat to pieces. The brunette's head bounces off the hull and she's lucky to be bounced clear that she isn't pulled into the yacht's propeller as it passes by. The people on board not even noticing the little bounce as being more than a wave. Kitty's life vest keeps her head above water as she otherwise does a dead man's float.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur looks up to Kitty's floating, unconscious body, and those blue eyes narrow. Like a dark shadow, he swims through the water, commanding the shark to keep swimming (good thing it wasn't hungry). He speeds through the water like a propeller, and suddenly, Kitty's unsconcious body is swifted away!

A moment later, Kaldur sets Kitty down on the beach. he checks her for obvious injuries before resting his ear just above her left breast, attempting to see if there's a heartbeat at the very least.

Shadowcat has posed:
There's an obvious spot on her forehead already showing signs of bruising. Though as Aqualad checks for a pulse he doesn't find one. The young woman lies there not moving in the sand. She's wearing jeans and a sweater, both soaked through, and then the life vest overtop which he probably removed to listen for a heart beat. No signs of her breathing either.

Aqualad has posed:
Aqualad did indeed remove the life vest so he could hear clearly. though as she doesn't even breathe (which is checks by seeing if her stomach was rising and falling, and by placing his hand in front of her mouth to try and feel breath), he brings his knees up to her side, and begins CPR.

after 30 pushes to the center of her chest, he leans down, bringing bare lips to hers, to give her two breaths, one after the other.

Worst case scenario, she wakes up mid-breath and thinks it's a kiss, and he gets punched. either way, a life saved is more than enough for him to keep going forward.

Shadowcat has posed:
After two rounds of CPR, the young woman suddenly stirs. She coughs, water coming out of her lungs. Not as much as most drowning victims, but she must have sucked down some ocean water when she was being pulled in the wake of the boat.

Kitty coughs and sputters. It's not a very attractive sight as the sea water comes out. Her eyes stare about her in alarm, and then suddenly she seems to turn ghostly. Aqualad can see her, but he can see through her as well. If he's touching her, his hand suddenly just passes right through.

Aqualad has posed:
Once she's awake, Aqualad stops the CPR, looking down at her and right in her beautiful eyes. Oh, it felt good to see life in her. he pats her back as she coughs up water, letting her recover. But...when she sees him? he's shocked when his arm goes straight past her shoulder and onto the ground, though this means his face is dangerously close to hers.

"I..uhm. I apologize. I saw you on the water, and I brought you to shore. The careless smashed into your boat. I am afraid it sunk."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks around, the translucent girl gasping, and she brings a hand to her chest. She swings her gaze over to Aqualad as he explains what happened. She raises a hand to her head, touching the spot that is indeed, going to be a nice big bruise. "Owwww my head," she says. She lies back down slowly into the sand. "You brought me in?" she asks, seeming a little dazed.

After a moment her body seems to return to normal solidity. "You... are you Atlantean?" she asks him softly, resting her head in the sand rather than trying to keep it upright. Her hair is soaked and matted to her head. And it's sandy now to boot, along with the back of her wet clothing.

But she's alive.

Aqualad has posed:
"I am. and I did. Please, do not push yourself too hard. You need to rest now." Kaldur helps lower Kitty to the comfy sand, looking at her in the eyes while also looking around to see if any help was present. But now the treatment continues.

he leans over, looks her in the eyes. "Look into my eyes." now he's just checking for minor things like brain damage, in which it looks like she's alright. Probably has a helluva concussion though. "You are lucky to be alive. I saw you be hit from beneath the waves."

Shadowcat has posed:
There's no signs of anyone having noticed the accident, or the subsequent rescue. Though there are some building and businesses along the water front not too far away. "I think... that's a good idea," she agrees with him. Kitty moves a hand to her head, wincing. "Did you at least get a license plate?" she asks. Ok, her sense of humor isn't broken. Or not any worse than usual. "Thank you, for saving me," she tells him. "I'm Kitty."

Aqualad has posed:
Great, nobody noticed.

Means he can still be a stealthy Atlantean! but he knows he's gonna have to take her somewhere where she can reasonably recover. Her humor makes him chuckle. "You're funny. Kitty? An interesting name. but very fitting. My name is Kaldur'ahm, though friends simply shorten it to Kaldur. It is nice to meet you, Kitty."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde takes slow, deep breaths as she lies there. "Thank you. Probably means my brain isn't completely broken then," she tells him. Managing something near to a smile. It would be a smile, without her head throbbing, probably. "It's actually Katherine. Katherine Pryde. But most people call me Kitty. Or Kat. Or KitKat. Actually? I swear that half the people I know have their own nicknames for me. I don't know, what would you call me in Atlantean? Or, I don't know if that's the name of your language or not?"

Aqualad has posed:
Aqualad nods very softly. "It is my pleasure." he seems to pause though as Kitty gives him a list of names he could call her by. "Hm...in my native language, you would be called Ke'ra." he smiles very softly. "Or if you wish, I can call you whatever you would most prefer."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Ke'ra. That's very pretty," Kitty tells him as she looks up at the handsome blue-eyed Atlantean. "You saved me, so you can probably call me whatever you like. I would be happy with Ke'ra."

Kitty gives a soft sight. "What was it you said, a boat that hit me? I had music in my ears and didn't hear anything," she tells him. "The sailboat I was in? It belongs to a friend. I don't suppose it survived?" she asks, turning her head with a soft groan to look out at the water. Night is falling by now though, she can't even see where the accident took place.

Aqualad has posed:
"Then Ke'ra, I will call you." Kaldur looks to the beautiful woman lying down in front of him. "Yes. The...yacht, I believe it's called, hit you while you were sailing. your sailboat, I'm afraid, was destroyed on contact. It's a wonder you didn't fly into the propellers...but considering how you are able to phase through solid objects, it is no longer surprising." he smiles gently, helping her at least sit up, letting her rest in his arms. "Do you live nearby? I can take you home." he hums. "If not, I have a boat not far from here, that I use during my visits to the surface world. It is docked, but you can stay there, and allow me to treat you back to health."

Shadowcat has posed:
"I live pretty far inland. It's a couple of hour drive. Though I can have a friend help with getting me, much quicker than that," Kitty - or Ke'ra - says. "I think... maybe I can try standing now?" she says. She will sit up slowly, but partway through she'll reach out to Kaldur as if for his hand to help steady herself.

If that seems to go well, she tries to get up. Swaying a little bit, but managing to stand. Her whole backside could be a beach right now. "Maybe your boat, you mentioned?" she asks him. She's starting to shiver a little bit. Winter, and she's soaking wet. And the water itself sapped the heat out of her body. "If I'd seen the boat, I could have at least avoided it and walked to shore," she says. "So... I guess you noticed I'm not like most people up here?"

Aqualad has posed:
As she wobbles, Kaldur allows himself to be the wall she wobbles against, a hand supporting her mid-back and another holding just under her forearm to help support her. "The boat, it appears, will be our best option. You need to be warm. Do you think you can walk, or would you prefer me to carry you?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde reaches out a hand, resting it on Kaldur as she sways a little bit. "I... can probably walk it. And be really cold by the time I make it. Or, you could carry me faster. And I'll be all embarrassed about having had to be carried. But I'll get warm faster." She looks over to Kaldur, "Um, I'll go ahead and go with warm faster," she tells him. "If... it isn't too much trouble?"

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur smiles gently to Ke'ra, "You do not have to be embarassed. If anyone asks, I believe a normal surface response is 'she drank too much'." he smiles gently, before he wraps an arm around her shoulders, his other arm hooking her legs behind the knees, and he picks her up! cradling her in his arms in a way that she could hold on with her arms around his neck.

"You can have as much warmth as you need." he smiles warmly to Kitty, before he began the trek, carrying Shadowcat to his home so she could recover!

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde does indeed hook her arms around his neck, and rests her aching head against his chest. It is... quite a chest. At that. Kitty blushes a little bit, hopefully the flush being lost in the twilight. "The water is... really cold," Kitty tells him. "I guess it doesn't have any effect on you? Do you ever get c-c-cold?" she asks him. And he's warm too. How does he stay warm in the water anyway? Held nestled against him, she lets as much of his warm try to get through her cold, wet clothing as possible. It probably isn't much, but at least her face and hands feel it.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur notices the blush, but thankfully, he's really kind not to point it out. Her head felt...soft against his muscular chest, the scent of her hair reaching his nose. "It's very cold. But...no. Atlanteans experience water like you experience room temperature. The only way we feel a difference is if the water is extremely hot or extremely cold." he smiles very gently to her.

It doesn't take long, but they arrive at Kaldur's boat. It's actually...not bad, not bad at all. It's pretty spacious (since only he lives there), with a large bed, a dining table, a television in the corner, and of course, a bathroom and shower. "Here we are. If you wish, you may wear my clothes. they are dryer. For now, let's start the heater, get yourself warm." he smiles gently to her, setting her down so she can stand upright, and he points her to a set of clothes he set out in preparation for a jaunt to the surface world, but this will do for now. the pants are probably far too baggy on her, and his shirt will probably fit her just fine. Does she have sweatpants lying around?

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks around the place as Kaldur sets her down. "W-would it be ok if I u-u-used the shower? To w-w-warm up quicker?" she asks him. Plus she's coated in sand where she lay on the beach while she was wet. Assuming he's ok with that, Kitty moves in to the bathroom. "I think I'll be ok," she'll tell him, though she's moving a bit slowly. "Oh, and the clothes?" she'll get those before closing the door.

The shower will run for only about five minutes. Enough to rinse off and bring her body temperature back up. Then the water turns off. Another minute or two later, the door would open and Kitty, or Ke'ra, emerges. She's wearing his shirt, which thankfully comes down her thighs far enough for modesty so long as she doesn't decide to start doing jumping jacks. "The pants are way too big," she says. She moves slowly back out, reaching out a hand to steady herself on whatever is at hand.

Aqualad has posed:
"Of course, please, use it as much as you like." and of course, Kaldur is a gentleman, and doesn't try to peek at her while she's showering or try to make her uncomfortable. Instead though, he does try and change into more comfortable clothes. Of the surface. *gasp*

when Kitty comes out, Kaldur is wearing baggy men's sweatpants, and seemingly about to put on a grey shirt, which means she sees him shirtless..him and the eel-like Atlantean tattoos on his arms.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde moves into the room, moving over to sit down on the couch. She has to tug the shirt a little bit, tucking it underneath of her, which should be enough to keep her modesty. She looks over, seeing Kaldur changing shirts. "I haven't met an Atlantean before, I don't think. I've met a lot of people. People from space. Gods. But you're a first, Kaldur," she tells him quietly.

"And I'm really glad you took the time to help me. It would have really sucked to have a funeral with a eulogy that included... defeated Galactus. Killed by a drunken driving yachtsman."

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur looks at Kitty and he smiles very softly. Taking his seat next to her on the couch. "Then I am happy to be the first one to meet, Ke'ra, but...I only wish the circumstances were better. Are you still cold?" He asks her.

And yes, he noticed her long legs, but didn't want to make her uncomfortable by voicing his observations. "It is what any would've done."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Warmer now," she confirms with a grateful look up to him, "though it's still a little cool maybe?" She's also managed to get the sand out of her hair and work into something a bit more manageable, the still damp tresses falling over her shoulders. "Head hurts like the Juggernaut ran into it," Kitty tells Kaldur. She's got quite a lump on her forehead. "Maybe that was the name of the yacht," she muses softly.

Kitty looks over to him, looking up into those eyes that are the softest shade of blue she's ever seen a person have. "So do you stay on the boat here most of the time? Or do you have a home beneath the water that you spend most of your time in?" she asks him.

Aqualad has posed:
"Good. I had hoped that-" Oh! she's a little cool. Well, Kaldur offers his body heat to her, which she can claim if she wants.

"I am...vaguely familiar with the juggernaut. He is the tall man with seemingly limitless strength, yes? As for my home...I suppose I try to spend equal time. A day here, a day there. I have fallen quite in love with the surface world."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks as Kaldur motions for her to move nearer to him. She slides over, drawing her legs up beside her on the touch, and gently leans in against him against as she did when he carried her. "It isn't strength exactly. It's momentum. When he gets started, he can keep himself going forward on and on, almost no matter what he hits," Kitty tells him. She frowns. "I've had to tangle with him on many occasions unfortunately. He bears a hatred for a teacher of mine."

The young woman smiles as Kaldur talks about his appreciation of the surface world. "What is it about our world that you like so?" she asks him. Kitty rests her cheek against his chest, blushing just a little bit at the near-intimacy of being against him like that.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur himself blushed at the intimacy. His hand rested on her left upper arm as she snuggled into him. "I see. Like a source of possibly unlimited kinetic energy. He must be a difficult adversary." Why does he love the surface?

Good question!

So much so that Kaldur actually takes a moment to consider.

"It's like coming to a brand new world. new adventure, new beginning. It was like just seeing...a new path where none existed. Different. I have been learning ever since."

Shadowcat has posed:
"He really is. You have to get to him before he can get his head of steam up," Kitty says of Juggernaut. She closes her eyes for a moment, just resting there as she listens. She pops them open at the end. "I know very little about your people. I know Aquaman works with the Justice League. The things I've seen on the news, but that is about it. Would you tell me some about what your life is like? How is it different from ours that you've seen?"

Aqualad has posed:
"Yes. King Orin, we call him. He is the King of Atlantis, the Lord of the Seven Seas. Without him...I would not be here today to speak with you." He smiles gently to her, resting his head on hers simply because he is equally tired.

"Very different. We breathe underwater, we are very accepting and even praise people who are different in our culture. Magic is very cultivated and encouraged, and of course, Unlike many nations on the surface, we are a rather strict monarchy who lives on tradition."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's eyes drift closed again, the young woman tired from what she endured tonight. It is not long before she has dosed off, head resting against the Atlantean's chest. And so they stay until morning when she wakes. A little shy about having slept there, but grateful to Kaldur for the rescue and for taking care of her. A phone call results in her friend coming to pick her up, with soft goodbyes given, and a number where Kaldur can reach her.
