Date of Scene: 14 February 2019
Location: Oa
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Green Lantern (Rayner), Green Lantern (Cruz)

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
Kyle is returning from space, the first time in a while. Sometimes he would visit Mogo, or other friendly planets as needed. Landing on Oa, he looks about. "Sight for sore eyes," and he looks at the lanterns coming and going. A few people don't recognize him, and those people really quick if he's a lantern because his uniform holds very little resembelance of the traditional uniform. However, between the ring on his finger, and people knowing who he is, they quickly quell down. The mask says on even as he gets furhter into the planet. A lot of people removed the mask, fi they wore any, when they were so far deep. A few chose not to, and Kyel elects to keep it on for the moment.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz slumps as she is leaving the training area, favoring her right arm, wincing. "Stupid poozer," she mutters as she sits on a bench, panting softly. "Why can't I just punch Guy in the face again?" she whispers as she shakes her head. "I know I'm still new at this, but weekly training sessions?" "Yeah, but Master Kilowogg isn't satisfied with your progress, J-Bird." Jessica rolls her eyes. "I know, I know..." she mutters as she just grabs a bottle of water and takes a drink, looking around, hoping that nobody will really notice her just sitting on a bench.

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
Kyle hears a familiar face. "Think smaller, Jess. You might be over complicating it. Think of all the times you've stared at clouds, and tried to figure out if one's a dog, a cat, a plane, whatever. Think like that. Let your mind go blank. Start simple. Guys like Hal make a lot of fists. They still do. If you try to do too much at once, or create something too complicated, you're going to meet that right hook from Kilowag. If fists served some of the best ringslingers for a while, don't beat yourself up if you can't go complicated right away," Kyle pauses again. Green eyes look at her, "If you want to get on Kil's good side," he rattled off the name of a fruit Kilogwag favors. "It won't fast track you, but he'll be nicer with the compliments. Maybe one day you'll see he's not so bad. Juusssttt...a little rough," he gives her a soft smile and tries to keep going on his way. That is, if she doesn't stop him.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz sighs softly. "I'm still kinda new to this..." she states, gazing up at you. She isn't wearing a mask - but she for some reason has a Lantern logo hovering around her right eye as a light-construct. "Oh - Kyle!" She sighs softly. "Yeah - come sit down..." She sighs osftly. "I'm... well..." She sighs softly. "Apparently they still think I need remedial training. Maybe the influence of Volthoom hasn't shaken itself off. Today's training wasn't constructs. I'm getting pretty good at that - it was a martial arts lesson and I didn't do so well." She sighs. "I wish I was sparring with Guy. I know how to beat him. A right hook to the jaw."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"Everyone knows how to beat guy. Ch'p knows how to beat guy," Kyle looks at her. "You get one in on Hal, then we can talk." An arm went around her, to give the woman a hug. "We've all been there. Constructs, combat, all that. One category has always been our downfall area. You'll rise above it," he smiles. Then he looks at her, "It may not be much, but if you ask, I'll teach you what I know. I mean, you gotta ask. And I might have a busy schedule and everything...or I might be here for a bit to unwind with a lot of time on my hands." Kyle smirks a little bit.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Yeah - they wanted me to come for weekly training so... here I am. Some tips would be good. I am decently good at constructs... but the scars of Volthoom haven't healed yet..." She sighs softly, referring to the evil ring that once attached itself - literally - to her, that fed on her fears while she was hiding from the mob as a hermit. "Not just the physical ones - but those are bad enough - but the mental ones. It really sucks to be embarrased for swimsuit weather - not because of my figure - but because my right arm is just an ugly mass of scars. But... if I ever had to face my fears... I don't know if I could do it - like if we had to go against Yellows."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"You're beautiful. Don't think otherwise. I know that's easier said than done. But every person that wouldn't turn to just stare at you, is an idiot" Then he breathes out, "The mental scars are harder. I've seen a lot of stuff, too. That takes time. Maybe a support system. Every person is different. IT's either finding an inner strength, or having a friend, maybe a group, help you find it," he says softly knowing that asnwer isn't so great. It's just an honest answer, though.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods as she rubs her arm. "A friend - are you volunteering?" she finally asks. She sighs softly. "Shall we go somewhere less crowded?" she finally asks. "I mean - we can stay on Oa - or we could go back home or... just somewhere in space I guess." She smiles faintly. "Thanks for the compliment - you're pretty handsome yourself." She paces back and forth. "Yeah, I took my bruising, but I got a few good shots in. Kilowogg actually did _not_ call me a poozer when we were done."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"I' haven't been home in ages. I have an apartment here, as a bakc up. And I know a lto of backwater places we can go, just us." Kyle says softly and he offers a hand. "Careful, or I'm going to think you're flirting with me. I'm sure osmoene on Earth would be jealous."A nod comes from Kyle, "We've all had Kil's bruises on us. Even the robot..."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz sighs softly. "I so would want to see Ch'p and Kilowog in a duel. That would be so funny." She smiles. "Nobody on Earth owuld be jealous. I am a bit of a loner. I don't even think my neighbors know my name - they probably just think of me as the 'doomsday-prepper' - they did so complain when I had the bomb shelter put in.

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
A nod comes from Kyle, "Pick a place. We'll go. Chat. Be alone. Sounds like you've got a lot on your mind. And I'm shocked no one would be jealous Jess. You don't give yourself enough credit." Kyle sighs, "But I know what it's like. When all the things hit you hard...you tend to look down more than up. You might miss a few things happening. But you might not be ready for them either," he says osftly just trying to comfort her a bit.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Let's go to Mars. It's close to home, but generally uninhabitated - at least the part of Mars where the Martians aren't around - those White Martians are a bit of a pain at times but they tend to stay near the equator." She starts to glow as she rises up, heading out of the atmosphere.

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
Nodding, Kyle starts to float with a similar glow. "You're the boss," he says and waves to Oa.It felt like he didn't even stay for a cup of coffee this time. Still, a friend needed him, and he was going to help.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods as she goes parallel to you as the two Lanterns travel through the stars and land in the upper tundra of Mars as she lands on the red planet. "I do have a friend - who's seeing someone else now - who would be so jealous that I'm here... but I don't have many friends."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"Who would be jealous? I mean it's nice and all, but Mars is a bit tragic, too. At least no one comes here too often, just remember the batteries only have so much juice," he says looking to her and then keeping up as he is streaking toward mars. She soudns like there's a specific spot she wants to, so when they close he'll follow her.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Just a few hours. Then we'll go back home. I'm still at 2/3 charge." She smiles faintly. "So - the constructs I form the most easiest are plant-based things. Vines, flowers, trees, that sort of thing." She shrugs. "I can do ohters, but those are what come best to me."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
Kyle looks at her, "Everyone has a foci with the constructs. Jon it's guns. Hal it's fists, jets. Guy is...it's probably best we don't know. Me? Sci-Fi stuff, robots, laser guns, energy swords. That sort of thing. Stick with that, stick with the vines, it's good you know that," he says and gives honest praise. "Keep yourself on the foci, when they get more advanced, transition to other objects."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz smiles faintly. "Yeah... I'm getting the hang of things. Sometimes I use Super Mario pirahna plants. they look goofy but they're quite effective. I watched a _lot_ of nature documentaries while I was playing hermit." She smiles faintly. "I just worry what I'd do against a Yellow. The Ring of Volthoom sensed a weakness in me and exploited it for a while - what if someothing else can too?"

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"If it works for you, Mario it up. I mean, Hal keeps using fists. The thing no one tells you about being a lantern, the constructs. Everyone has the same generic things. The atmosphere guards, energy blasts, flight, shields. But when the constructs come out, it's all about what works for -you-. It's not about the most impressive construct, it's about using a construct effectively. Like I said, Hal uses a lot of fists. Nothing deep about that, but look at his reputation." Kyle looks about the surface. "Pick a spot to land and I'll answer that question."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods as she lands near the north pole as she finds a rock to sit on, gesturing for you to join her by another. "I know - vines are very good at constructs... just sometimes I can get caught flat-footed. Anillo does help with things though - my ring's very talkative. It told me it's one of the first ones ever made."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"Do you want to sit somewhere more comfortable? My ring has more of a charge, and I've got my battery close." He gesutres to the spots as he is sitting next to her. But he knows Mars can be an unforgiving place. Then he looks at her. "Everyone has a weakness. If you're talking emotional. I need you to trust me. Ease up on your uniform. Show me the scarred arm." Looking to her, he says softly, "Please."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz sighs as her right sleeve vanishes. The scars are visible, twining from her right ring finger, going all the way up her arm in an ugly dark green root- or vine-like pattern, and twining up into her shoulder, and up her neck, stopping right by her ear - as it was apparently going from her finger to her brain. She says nothing as she looks down, embarrased.

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"You survived this. You're still here. You're still trying. That makes you strong. Never forget that. Never forget that each time you get back into the training areas with Kilowagg. Each time you put on the uniform, that makes you stronger. You're getting up, and trying," Kyle rubs her arm affectionately, if she allows. "It's a pretty arm, if you ask me." and if she'll allow he'll keep stroking it. Rgith now, eh's just trying to sooth because he knows how much trust that took.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz flinches at the touch to those scars. They don't hurt or anything. "I've tried everything to get rid of htem - they defy even magical healing. Volthoom's last laugh indeed - I half-wonder if it's still out there - messing with my thoughts..." She sighs, seeming a bit worried about it. "You... aren't bothered by them?" she finally asks, staring at you rubbing that arm.

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"Yeah. It's just sars, but you see it as a bad thing. You gotta look at it like a sign. This is your sign you've survived. Think of it like tiger stripes. You've earned your stripes," Kyle says softly and he is looking at her. "I can't say he does, or doesn't have influence. Taht stuff, it's hard to really say until it happens. If it does, you're going to have a boatload of friends trying to bring you back. No matter what corner of the galaxy I'm in, I'll be there on the front lines iwth them, okay?" Kyle offers softly to her.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz blinks. "Ohhhhhhhh..." She ponders. "I get it. Not a mark of shame for suffering abuse... but... a mark of triumph. A reminder of the willpower it took to get Volthoom to leave... nomrally he doesn't leave his victims alive..." She smiles faintly. "I never thought of it that way. Maybe I won't be ashamed of them as much anymore..."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
A nod comes from Kyle, "And don't hide it at the beach. Are people going to stare? Yeah. If you see them staring you get to do one of the few things...nearly every guy wishes they can do," Kyle smiles a little bit. "You get to look at the person. Confidently and say, 'you should see the other guy.' And your words can carry truth with him. Then you won't be seen as a victim, but a bad ass. You'll have guys fawning over you if you can pull that off....and you totally could," Kyle smirks a little bit and he looks over the surfaceof Mars. "Also, you lived through that and you're telling me a bikini scares you?" That smirk continues, "You survived something that would have broke over half the corps. A bikni is a cakewalk compared to that..."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz hmmmmmmms. "Interesting... I like that. It's still winter..." She sighs as her uniform has subtly modified to be more short-sleeved. "But I probably will keep long-sleeved on my normal Lantern unifrom - it's the default that Anillo likes so I'll keep with it." She ponders softly. "You really think I'm that strong mentally?" she asks softly.

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
Kyle is silent for a while, "I've seen a lot of things. I know what something like that probably did. Will power can't betaught. Conditioned, yeah, but it still needs a base to work with. You survived something that would broke how many of our colleagues? I can't answer that one. I think half is a generous number," he pauses. "To them." Breathing out, "There's this stuff. I've only heard rumors of it. Some people call it the Black Death. It's a flower. Makes you see your favorite dream, makes it real. It either keeps you in a cataonic state, or makes you see that til' you die. I forget which. Then to free it, you see the life you've always wanted die, if the rumors I hear are true." Then he pauses out and looks to that arm, covere dor not. "That...that looks more painful than Black Death." Breahting out, talking about it sober his tone, his mood. "If the arm is body issues, I hear you. You stand next to someone like Superman or Batman, I don't care how good you look, you will feel inferior. Trust me." He sighs out, "So, I get it. I get it, if that's the case. But you need to remember, you survived something that would have broken most of us. Maybe all of us. I dont' know for sure. I can honestly say, more of us would have been shattered than not."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz sighs. "I've heard of it. I looked that sort of stuff up. Some Kryptonian thing. Hopefully they're extinct when the planet blew." She sighs. "I was hiding inmy house for years - I and my friends witnessed the mob burying a body. They started shooting. My friends were mowed down but I escaped. I hid, like a coward. The ring appeared, and attached itself to me. Like a parasite. Drove me ouside - formed monstrous constructs to terrorize people." She sighs softly. "Batman helped me control it. Calmed me. And... I tried to keep it under control. I even did a bit of hero wokr - but the constant snide comments and whispering thoughts got to me. Eventually - I had enough. I just shut it down - wouldn't let it use me. Finally... it got bored. And left me." She sighs softly. "Ten minutes later, Anillo appeared before me. I took a bit of time to make sure it was okay - then that's how I got my ring." She murmurs, "If I wasn't weak, and wasn't hiding in my house like a coward, Volthoom wouldnt' have come to me..." She trails off. "But then I wouldn't be a Lantern either so..."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
Kyle gets up, and hetries to just give her a hug. A wordless offer with both arms open. That is...if she wanted t o receiveone. IF she did, he would follow up with some advice.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods as she just takes the hug, leaning against you. "I've never really told anyone that story - not entirely... but there's jus something about you... I can trust you."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"What happened to you was tragic. Nothing is your fault. You did what you had to do to survive, and then something worse happened. You didn't ask this thing to come. It just did," Kyle hodls her close and kept whispering to her. "You can't hold the whole situation over yourself, thinking you did it. You didnt' ask for the power, and if you did...would it have done all of that? No." He looks at her for a moment, "Use the Lantern ring to prove people wrong. Don't look at it as redemption for you. Look at it as the means to show the world the truth. To show the world who the -real- Jessica Cruz is. If you do a good enough job, you'll be redeemed ayway. And that's if you need it. Honestly, I'm not sure that you do," Kyle smiles at her just giving his honest opinion. Jessica is as much of a victim to the ring as she was the mob. The experienced ring slinger is just trying to make her see the perspective from the outsider looking in.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Yeah... maybe I don't. I can't be ruled by my past. I am a Green Lantern of Sector 2814, just like you." She smiles faintly. "I have to try to find a way to get through all of this crap - if I could beat my main crowd anxiety, I'd be in good shape I think."

Green Lantern (Rayner) has posed:
"I'm sure there's a few doctor's on Oa that will listen to you. I can give you my opinion at every twist, and turn. I just don't have the skill to give you -all- the help you need. Whatever help I an give you, it's yours. In spades, I'm just an artist...I can draw the thoughts in your head. I can't dig into them, find the causes," Kyle just explains it's not a lack of desire, but a lack of skill. He knows the mind is a delicate thing.
