Synopsis: Kitty visits Kaldur on his boat
Cast of Characters: Shadowcat, Aqualad

Shadowcat has posed:
The phone call came as a nice surprise, Kitty not having seemed to decide if he would make use of her number that she'd left him. Her voice over the phone had carried the sound of how pleased she was to have him call.

And so a trip back to the coast was planned. Kitty catching an Uber to make the trip over. She climbs out of the car, taking care of the driver then turning back towards the boat. Kitty is wearing dark pants that fit her snugly, boots, and a black long-sleeved top. She makes her way over to the boat, climbing aboard gracefully and moving over to the entrance where she knocks against the wood. "Kaldur, is it ok to come in?" she calls out softly.

Aqualad has posed:
of course he'll make use of the phone number she gave him! Aqualad enjoyed the presence of 'Ke'ra' as he so affectionately called her.

So, when he got to the surface? He simply called her and invited her to his boat.

At the knock, he calls back. "You May! the door is unlocked." Kaldur just put on a Grey long sleeve, covering his tattoos. "How are you, Ke'ra?"

Shadowcat has posed:
The ocean breeze stirs Kitty's hair as the door to the boat opens up. She looks noticeably different than the last time when she'd just been fished out of the ocean. Her hair spills about her shoulders in gentle brown waves. The lightest use of makeup accentuates her cheeks and bring out the brightness of her eyes.

And Kitty's eyes do shine brightly as Kaldur comes to the door. Hearing the name Ke'ra causes her already pleased smile to spread. "I'm good," she tells him. Kitty reaches a hand up to her forehead. "No more knot," she tells him. And indeed there is no sign of the injury at all, despite it being something that might take weeks to fully clear up. "I'm glad that you called," she tells him as she steps inside, smiling up at the taller Atlantean man.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur approaches Kitty as she enters, stopping just short of being chestto chest with her. As she gestures to her head, where her wound was, he touches there, as if to check it.

"Indeed. I'm glad you made a good recovery. Are you thirsty at all? I could bring you tea?" He looks now into her eyes...

Abd he smiles very softly. Are words truly needed?

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde's eyes drift downwards demurely as the mocha-skinned hand reaches up to touch her forehead softly. The warmth of his touch is noticeable though it is just his fingers brushing the smooth skin. Kitty looks back up, finding the soft, ice blue eyes gazing down at her. "Tea would be very nice, yes," she tells him while he holds her gaze.

Kitty looks away finally, turning a bit away from him though not before the small smile that turns up the corners of her lips might be noticed. She looks about the boat's interior, going a few steps away to something to pick it up and look at. "Did you furnish everything in here yourself? Or did you buy it like this?" she asks. That seems to spark another thought. "How did you buy it, actually? I mean, do you have access to the kind of money that we use?" Kitty asks as she turns back towards him.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur smiles gently to Kitty. "Alright." and then he'll turn to get the tea he had so recently brewed. Oh! smells like Oolong now that he's let it breathe. But, when he comes back, it's with a cup of tea in his hand, offering it to Kitty, while enjoying a cup himself.

"I did on all accounts. Apparently Atlantean Currency, due to being gold, is very highly desired by humans. I don't quite understand it, but yes, I was apparently able to set up a 'hefty bank account' and buy this boat and furnish it with plenty to spare. The...economics of this kind of currency confuses me though." he smiles to her.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde's gaze swings over to watch Kaldur as he goes to get the tea ready. The smooth way he moves about even on the surface stands out to Kitty. She pulls her eyes up quickly as he turns back to her, giving him a soft smile as she takes the cup of tea.

"It has always been in demand," Kitty explains. "Women in particular like it for jewelry, with how it shines in the light up here. There was more demand for it than the amounts people could find. So it became valuable."

She takes a sip of her tea. "Instead of carrying heavy gold, we started using certificates that were backed with gold. In old days you could have used it to go and retrieve the gold, I guess. Though now we are so used to those paper bills that I don't think they are tied directly to anything. Just everyone accepts them as having that value. It can get complicated though. WAY beyond me," Kitty says with a soft, warm laugh. She takes another sip of her tea, looking at Kaldur over the top of her cup.

"I'm really glad you called," she tells him. "I was kind of wishing I had a way to contact you, too."

Aqualad has posed:
That explanation doesn't exactly seem to help Kaldur as he sips his tea....because american economics are EXTREMELY difficult to truly understand. But, he does smile to her. "I see....it has a long history." another sip of his tea.

"I'm glad I called too. I missed you." Kaldur admits in his natural deep voice, approaching her once again and giving her the kindest smile. His eyes just lock with hers, and they don't move away.

there's definitely a romantic tension, it seems.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde breaks out in a soft chuckle and nods her head. "Yes, long, complicated history," she agrees. "Those are the sort of classes in school that I didn't care for as much," she shares, taking another sip of her tea.

As Kaldur comes over near to her again, Kitty finds her eyes held by his for the longest time. Finally realizing it's been several seconds of silence, Kitty drops her gaze a little bit. "Missed me?" she asks, trying to hide the small smile behind her cup as she takes another sip. "I was quite a mess, I saw when I got home," she tells him. "But, I wanted to thank you. With the concussion, I was rather out of it. And you were such a perfect gentleman to me," she tells him.

"There's so many things I'm curious about, with you," Kitty tells him. "I really know so little about what your daily life is like, even. Whether you have houses like we do or just... float while you sleep?" she says, giving a soft, laugh and looking down. "I don't even know IF you sleep," she realizes aloud.

Aqualad has posed:
Aqualad smiles very softly to Kitty as she seems to try and hide the smmile that touches her lips. She wasw cute when she did that. But he nods. "It's okay. No thanks necessary, it's what anyone would've done." he seems to blush though a little bit himself at the compliment.

"Well....I don't float while I sleep." he starts, smiling widely. "I do sleep. But usually it's just not on a bed that you're familiar with." the sea bed. HAH!

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde sips her tea and then moves over to take a seat on the couch. "You mention you use gold as currency. So is your culture a lot like ours, just underwater? Like do you have people who produce, grow, or capture food and then most people buy it from them rather than doing it themselves? Homes that you keep possessions in, things like that?" Kitty asks him.

"And do you have an occupation of some sort?" she asks him. "Or do you spend your time roaming the seas.... saving girls who are too busy listening to music to hear Tre and the Party Yacht of Doom bearing dwon on them?" Kitty asks, looking up and smiling at Kaldur as she mentions his rescue of her. A few stray locks of hair spill across her cheek, Kitty tucking them back behind an ear.

Aqualad has posed:
"My culture would be considered....ancient, by the surface. We all still wear robes and armor, and typically know how to wield a melee weapon. Many, if not all of us, are either soldiers or scholars of some kind. We have a King as our leader, and he holds absolute power: military, economic, and political."

But Kaldur'ahm doesn't seem perplexed with any of this. They have a wise king on the throne. "I am a member of the royal guard. and an ambassador to the surface world." he smiles warmly to her. "Though I try to save as many girls as I can." he smiles softly to Kitty.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks up to where Kaldur'ahm is standing as she sits on the couch. Listening to him with interest as he explains about Atlantean life. "You are a royal guard?" Kitty repeats, and looking rather suitably impressed at learning this about him. The comment about how many girls he saves brings a soft, warm sounding laugh from Kitty.

"You didn't seem very surprised on the beach. When I sort of disappeared and you fell... through me," Kitty says, her head tilting a little bit. "Most people up here would have... well. Gaped. Stared. A number probably would have recoiled. But you seemed to kind of take it in stride," Kitty says.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur nods very softly. "Indeed. The King often lets me come to explore the surface world though. So...I don't think it's a tremendous deal." Kaldur just chuckles then, but he does smile to Kitty, finally sitting next to her on the couch. "There are many different kinds of Atlanteans. Many of them are born with special talent or abilities....so it was not that surprising."

"In fact, I think being differnet is what can make many people special."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde turns sideways to face Kaldur as he sits down with her. "Really? So that's normal amongst your people?" Kitty lets out an exasperated sounding puff of hair, blowing it up to stir a few wisps of hair. "I wish that were the case here. Humans don't have such abilities. But some of us, we have mutations. And... a lot of normal people don't like us for it. Are scared of us. Or just looking for someone to blame things on to make themselves feel better," Kitty says quietly.

She looks down, seeming a little somber. "My friends and I have to keep a low profile because of it. It must be nice to be from somewhere where everyone accepts special abilities," Kitty says.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur definitely notices the somber look on Kitty's face, and he simply stretches out a hand, moving a stray strand of hair from her face and caressing her cheek with a finger. "I am...vaguely aware of the troubles you and people like you go through here on the surface world." he angles himself so he can see her better. "Would you tell me about it?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks up at Kaldur as the handsome, dark-skinned man brushes so tenderly across her cheek. Her gaze is soft and she finds herself far more conscious of her breathing and her the speed of her pulse than Kitty normally is. "Well, sometimes a mutant's powers take time to learn to control. And bad things happen. Or, sometimes just they turn out to be bad people, or they make bad decisions. Like, robbing a bank," Kitty says.

"And people get scared and... there's protests. That we shouldn't have the rights that other citizens have. And there's a group that make these robots. Giant... GIANT robots, that hunt us down. Called Sentinels. It is a very big issue here, unfortunately," Kitty tells him. She sets her empty tea cup over on the coffee table. "I'm fortunate that when I was 13, a group of really noble mutants found me. Well, mostly noble. And they took me in to educate me. Became a family to me, even in ways my real family wasn't anymore," the woman that he calls Ke'ra tells him.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur smiles very softly to her, before he nods only once as he listens to her words. It was...awful. horrible to hear. It's no wonder they hide, if they can, away from these monsters that take the guise of humans. People's true evil made distinctly apparent.

But he does reach to touch her hand then, holding it, if she allowed. Comfort.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks down as Kaldur takes her hand. She hesitates a moment, and then gently closes her fingers about his. "I was telling my friend, about the name you chose for me," Kitty tells him. "It's a really pretty name, she agreed with me. But she was wondering about it, that you have a word for cats when you don't have any underwater. Or did the word just get added once you began coming to the surface and you became familiar with them?" Kitty asks him.

Aqualad has posed:
Kaldur holds Kitty's hand, perhaps even moving a little closer to her, but he does seem to smile. "You did? I'm glad she liked it. But...the name is not to describe a cat. Unless you're thinking of a cat-fish." he teases. "It's the Atlantean word for Katherine. or Katarina, or katie. So...I figure it fit with you, Ke'ra."

Shadowcat has posed:
"I didn't know you'd have a similar name," Kitty tells him with a soft smile. She reaches up, brushing back falls of soft brown hair. "I'm not sure what Kaldur'ahm or Kaldur would be in English," she muses quietly. Kitty leans against the back of the couch, looking over at Kaldur as he leans closer. Her eyes study his face for a moment, looking over the well-formed, mocha-skinned features. The ice blue eyes beneath the blond hair with its almost exotic looking hairdo. She seems to have just a touch of color touch her cheeks as she looks down. "Are you married back home? Or do you have... I'm not sure if you have the same customs," she asks him quietly.

Aqualad has posed:
Oh? does he have a wife? what is his English translation of his name?

"Well....to my knowledge, the first part of my name, 'Kaldur', would likely be translated as 'Jackson' in the English language." he shrugs softly. "As for being married...no. I have no betrothed or lover. I am what many surface worlders would call 'single'." he seems to look aside then a moment. "Do...you have a husband or.." he looks nervous now.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a soft laugh and she shakes her head. "No. No I don't have a husband," she says. "I don't have an anything right now, really," Kitty says. Her hands goes to her upper chest for a moment. Just touching herself there though there is nothing to touch. She pulls her hand back down. "I haven't, not in a year at least. I have been going to school in England. At Oxford," She tells him.
