Poking Around Amnesty Bay
Date of Scene: 19 February 2019
Location: Amnesty Bay
Synopsis: Jason Blood and Morrigan explore the coast line a bit and find a place where Mo jokes about Elder Gods.
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Etrigan (Jason Blood)

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The bed and breakfast had a few rooms still left open. Not like there were dragging in a whole lot of business by the time Morrigan and Jason decided to do their check ins. The next morning the Doctor was packed up and ready to go, but she'd decided to head back up and knock on Jason's door, asking if he wanted to do some sight seeing/exploring before she headed out.

Apparently the answer was yes given they were now standing on a rocky part of ledge and looking out at the water, "Didn't expect to meet a King on my trip out here. Pretty neat." she states with a look over to him. "And thanks for agreeing to come along." she adds to Jason with a smile.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood finishes off an unfiltered English cigarette, drawn from a golden case that he tucks back into the pocket of his coat. "I never mind company, especially lovely company such as yours. And it's always good to remember that kings, for the most part, aren't any better or smarter or wiser than anyone else. Most of them just had ancestors who were good at conquering things. Or, in the case of the general upperclass, were useful to someone else in doing their dirty work."

He looks out at the ship for a moment and scans along the ledge, "I think there's a pathway down to the beach over there. A little chill perhaps, but I'm not likely to melt, are you?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a smile to him, "That's nice of you to say." she tells him. Then she's looking off into the distance where there are those ships, "You sound like you speak from experience, Mister Blood. Or maybe I'm just reading into it." she chuckles. "Everyone wants to be a Prince or a Princess sometimes. Not something I ever fancied." she shakes her head.

Then there's a grin to him, "No, I won't melt unless the sun decides to come out and it hits eighty or so degrees." she admits. "So no, we can head down." she nods to this. Then she's heading that way.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood goes ahead and takes the first steps, gesturing for her to come behind. "Experience I have a-plenty, although my memory isn't what it used to be. I've been among the rich and powerful and I've laid in the gutter with the bastards and the whores and the broken-toothed. People are the same, underneath it all. Which is to say that most of them are rotten, but that's okay, too. Rotten things still matter, still have their place," he says. He steps carefully over some jagged rocks, offering a hand if she needs help getting over them as they wind their way along the surf-battered granite towards the sea. "I think I see a cavern opening down at the bottom."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan doesn't mind him taking the lead, if she falls on him it's at least going to be softer. "I know a few rotten people." she mutters in answer to his words. "But yes, they matter." she adds to that. She does take his hand, her gloves bleeding through a little of the warmth, but not much. "Oh a cavern opening? That screams I need to be looked into." she grins to that. "If you don't mind going in that is." she looks to him with a smile.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood shakes his head, "Never ran away from screaming in my life. Might have caused a bit of it now and then," he says. They reach the beach and find the entrance, a ragged slash in the wall of the cliff, like a crack broken wide open. The interior is obviously moist and forbidding, with darkness swallowing up the dim light of the morning sun through the clouds.

"I suppose I should've brought a torch. Well, luckily, I'm always a little bit prepared," he says. He mutters something under his breath, an archaic tongue not used much aloud these days and, after a moment, a globe of golden light forms, hovering in the air, and starts to lead them in.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan follows after him curiously as they go, "I tend to make some people scream, but that's when I tell them I need to draw blood." she tells him with a sober look. Then she looks over the cavern opening and there's a bit of a shiver that she covers up by adjusting her coat. Then she reaches up to remove her sunglasses.

"I forgot mine in the trunk, so I think we're both doing great today." she admits with a teasing tone. The orb of golden light makes her eyes go wide, "That's a neat trick." she admits quietly. Then she's back to following, "I doubt there's anything but drift wood and maybe some shells in here." she states as they go.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood shrugs, "Possibly not. Shells can be nice. You never know. Eldritch things often hide in plain sight, under the guise of the decrepit and the forgotten and the ugly. People don't look past the surface, often enough. Makes it easy to trick them," he says. "I am not so lightly fooled."

He leads them deeper in, the hovering light casting a simple glow but nothing so penetrating as to show more than a few feet ahead of them. "At least it looks natural. No sign of toolmarks."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"I like shells and pretty things. That could be chalked up to me being a woman." Morrigan muses as she goes along with him. "Given the last few weeks in my life I'm trying to look beneath the surface, but I'm starting out with little information of the paranormal and supernatural." she tells him. "It's a learning experience." she admits.

"But if some big eldritch monster is down here, I'm going to toss a rock at it then run." she explains to him. Because what else do you do? "Were you always able to perform magic? Or is that a question that I shouldn't ask?" she poses that question to him quietly.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood shakes his head, "There are no questions you shouldn't ask. Just know that they won't always get an answer," he says with a half-smile. "I did not. I learned, over time, the hard way. I was once an ordinary man, with no ambitions or understanding of anything more than five miles away from the door of his home. But fate came calling."

Fate. Merlin. Etrigan.

"I can handle any eldritch monster likely lurking around here and, if I somehow can't, I can get us out quickly enough if need be."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's bright violet gaze looks to him and there's a soft smile, "I can live with that." she tells him. Then she listens to him and there's a gentle nod, "Feels like some Wizards and Magicians are open about their abilities and then some are not. Or want to be kept secret and left alone." she explains.

Then there's a look back to him, "I'll take your word that you can handle Cthulhu if he pops up and if not that there's a way out." she states. "Random question of the day, do you have any knowledge of vampires?" she asks him curiously.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood kneels down along the wall for a moment and runs a thumb along an etching he finds there. It's faded, long since worn down with time and elements, but there's the faintest trace of a shape there, something that seems familiar but he can't quite place.

"Elder gods might be a bit out of my range, but short of that, we should be fine. I don't see a particular need to pretend. Most don't believe me and the ones that do know it means I'm not to be trifled with," he says.

The vampire question has him turn his head, "A bit. I heard you mention drawing blood earlier. Nosferatu problems?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan heads over to the wall, running her fingers over a crack and then drawing them back to look at, "It's probably been here awhile. Wonder why no ones making it a habit of visiting." she murmurs. Then there's a look over to him and a smile, "No elder gods, got it." she nods to that. Then there's a sobering sort of look, "There's too much unexplained in this world that I'm definitely not going to mess with anyone that has magical abilities." she admits to that. "In a bad way." she adds.

Then there's a bit of a look to him, "I'm a Hematologist, so that's the blood comment." she muses. "And Mister Dresden thinks I'm half vampire. But my mother was human. So I'm guessing that my father was some sort of vampire." she shrugs.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood frowns at the markings and blows on them slowly until they glow for a moment on their own, traced in luminescence at the command of his soul. Cheap trick, admittedly, just a cantrip, but it gave good results. "I think these are Lemurian. Think Atlantis but less nice," he says. "I think there might be an old temple in there, although not sure to who. Probably better not to find out," he says. Still, he's obviously tempted.

"I'll have to meet this Mr. Dresden sometime. I've heard the name, but can't say I know much. The technical term for that would be a dhampir, I believe. There are many sorts of vampire, as you note, so it's hard to say. What does it mean for you? Are you exhibiting any tendencies?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's curiousity is piqued at the talk of old temples, "Better to not wake up something that shouldn't be or tread somewhere we shouldn't." she admits. "At least for now." she smiles to that. Then she listens to him as he explains what she might possibly be, then there's a soft shake of her head, "No, I don't think so at least? Crosses don't bother me, running water. That sort of thing you know?" she tells him. "And I'm not craving blood. Or at least it's not kicked in." she chuckles faintly. "I'm not going to try to bite you. Unless I'm completely out of my mind." she points out.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood smiles, "I'm not afraid of being bitten. It wouldn't be the first time. But my blood has...complications involved," he says. "There are varieties of vampire who don't have those particular weaknesses, although they usually have something similar or compensatory. I've known vampire priests."

"If you're not afflicted with the thirst, though, be grateful. I'm told it's quite a potent addiction. I lost years to opium, once upon a time," he says.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan blushes faintly in the low light, "Nibbles, just nibbles. I wouldn't even know what to do about craving blood. Stick a straw in a blood bag at work?" she muses. "I think my allergy to the sun is something that is from that. But my intelligence has also been off the charts since I was a child. I guess that might be compensation." she chuckles.

"I'm afraid that it might become an issue, if certain variables come into play and it seems that people are too interested in my medical files." she shakes her head. Then she quirks an eyebrow, "Opium is a hard thing I hear. Never done it and don't plan to." she tells him. Then she looks down to the darkness of the cavern, "Do we want to keep going?" she asks him.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood considers for a moment, "Maybe just a little bit," he smiles. He walks deeper into the chasm, guiding her along behind him, until they find a more open space, the ceiling rising and the walls spreading out to crate a sort of oval antechamber with a broken plinth at the center of it, surrounded by an empty pool.

"I'm not precisely sure how one diagnoses that sort of thing, but I suppose your Mr. Dresden knows his business. As for nosy people, well, the solution to that is to either alter the files or get them to stop looking, whichever is easier."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a smile as they head into the cavern more. When they arrive in the open space she gives a look up and around, because she figures it's just plain ceiling. Her eyes fall on the plinth and there's a soft 'hmm', "Wonder what this was used for." she murmurs as she approaches the pool carefully.

"I sent my blood over to Mister Dresden and he's supposed to be getting back to me on what he thinks." she tells him. "If you'd like I could introduce you or you could seek him out on your own. He's in the phonebook, so not hard to find." she states. Then she crouches to touch the edge of the pool, "I think I need to find someone that can alter them. At least mine. My mothers are fine." she tells him.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood examines the set-up, his hands thrust into the pockets of his coat. He twitches for a moment as a voice resounds in his head, Etrigan's sibilant whisper needling him from the depths of hell.

You've known a place or two like this
With bloodied stones and unsullied miss
How many virgins did you once split
And throw down screaming to the pit?
I know I helped, I had some fun
But you know deep down you're the one
Who slit their throats so lily white
To feed the dark and snuff the light/

Jason bites down on his lip hard enough to draw a bit of blood, barely keeping himself from smacking his head in rage. As it is, he almost stumbles.

"Sorry. Old illness," he mutters,

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's focus for the moment is on the pool, but her head slowly turns to see what he's done. The scent of blood is something that gets her attention and she rises, "Are you alright? I can smell blood...and it's fresh." she tells him. "That's weirdness that started recently." she frowns. "But..." she shakes her head, "Maybe we should go? Some fresh air might help." she offers with a soft smile.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood nods, "We all have our curses. Just happens to be one of mine. But you're right. Fresh air would be good," he says. He flexes his fingers as he shakes off the memories the Demon awakened in him. He'd forgotten so much, but Etrigan always remembered, especially if it was like to pain Jason's soul.

"Sorry, I bit my lip," he admits. "But if there have been recent sacrifices here...that means there's a cult. Cults are always complicated."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan didn't really know the man, but she was worried. "Let's go then." she offers with a bit of a brighter smile. "And you don't have to apologize, it happens." she tells him. "The lip going to be okay?" she asks after a minute. Then her eyebrow quirks at him, "Well, just because I don't smell it doesn't mean they aren't here. So...going might be good." she whispers.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood shakes his head, "I don't think there's anyone here now. Most sacrificial cults of Lemuria were cyclical, probably tied in to the tide. If there's going to be a sacrifice, it won't be during the day like this, with the tide mostly out," he says.

"The lip will be fine, thank you for you concern."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a small sigh of relief, "That makes me feel ten times better." she tells him. Not really, but hey, it's a bit of a reassurance! She gives a look towards the exit of the chamber and heads for it. Not worrying about meeting anything given they walked this way already. "I'm glad it'll be alright." she smiles to that. "Now, remind me, you said you had a home in New York?" she asks as she dips out.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Once they reach the open air and the sharp kiss of the salt coming off the tide. He runs a hand back through his hair, the streak of white a sharp contrast along his brow. The trickle of blood seems to have tapered off, although there's still a hint at the corner of his mouth. "I do," he says. He reaches into his pocket and draws out a card. It's embossed and with a thick, antiquarian hint, the words "Jason Blood" along with his address and a contact number. Nothing more.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan takes a deep breath of the air once they're out of the cavern and she smiles at the scent. It was enough to drown out the scent of blood. She gives a look to Jason and there's a smile to him as he pulls out the card to give to her. She pulls out her card case and offers him one. It's from Mount Sinai hospital and lists her as the assistant director of Pathology. "Maybe if you're in New York we can have dinner and just get together and talk." she offers as she gives him a bit of a smile.

Etrigan (Jason Blood) has posed:
Jason Blood takes the card and nods, "I'll take you up on that," he says. And he will. Jason doesn't have a lot in the way of friends anymore. Etrigan does his best to make sure of that. "I will just say - I'm not the safest person in the world. That's not self-flagellation. I'm often knee-deep in darkness as it is. Sometimes I trudge it in with me," he says.

He could warn her about the Demon, but he didn't want to talk about him. Not right now.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a soft smile to him, "I would like that." she admits. Then she sobers a bit as he warns her. "It's very nice of you to tell me about the darkness. And I could sit here and say that it's not going to be an issue, but I'm not psychic. So maybe having someone around that's not knee deep in darkness most of the time is a good thing." she states with a soft shrug of her shoulders. "I mean, I'm not one of those obnoxiously bright and cheery people. I'm not going to send you cat memes." she grins to that.
