Polaris has posed:
It had been hours. Hours of processing at the station. Hours of sitting in a room off to the side. Hours of being asked a few questions, given a cup of water. Being escorted to the restroom. Being stuck before several debating cops. A few more hours of sitting there twiddling her thumbs again. Her phone, comms, all she'd had on her had been confiscated... bored out of her mind and partly worried what would happen to her.

She had technically, assaulted cops by pulling away their guns.

She had technically been part of a riot and used her powers on people without their consent.
r But she was also technically a Genoshan Diplomat. A Princess of a foreign power.

Never mind that hat power was one that threatened the world recently if they misstepped and was on //several// government and terrorist watch lists. What would the local police force be willing to do with her? What could be done that //wouldn't// immediately start an international incident?

So she'd been let go. Driven back to Westchester in a cop car and walked to the front door. Now it was late. Later than late. Approaching morning and likely that everyone had had a chance to see and hear what had happened. More over, most everyone should have been asleep.. but likely wasn't.

Lorna huffed a breath, shoving her hands into her pockets as she shut the door behind her with a murmured thank you to the cops, who left and drove away back down the long drive. She was //exhausted//,

Cyclops has posed:
Just inside the door, sitting on the third step up on the stair case that's just inside the foyer, Scott sits there, his phone having been put away as he had enough warning that the door was about to open. He allows Lorna to shut the door and take her time to say her goodbyes to the cops.

Scott doesn't stand up, he's already at eye level with Lorna as he sat up a few steps and he doesn't say a word, but those red lenses reflect the lights from the cop car as they back up back at Lorna. He takes a deep breath and sits straighter because of it before he sighs softly and pats the stairs next to him, inviting Lorna to unwind if she wants.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna leaned back against the door as she entered and for a moment, just let go. The tension that had held her upright and polite under all the stress and chaos of the day melted away and she reached up with both hands to drag them over her expression. As she let them fall, she reached back to remove her coat and caught sight of Scott's presence on the stairs. She grimaced faintly, making to hang up her coat with wave of her hand.

"I assume you saw the clips and all the freaking out from people today at the protest?" She offered softly, glancing down the hallway and back briefly.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott remains silent. That was a silly question, but he doesn't seem to react that way, he instead remains seated and watching Lorna. He doesn't seem judgemental in the slightest. It's obvious he's been up all night, or at least he's a lazy bum as he's in the same clothes Lorna saw him in that morning.

Scott doesn't say a word as he reaches his hand out and pats the stair next to him once more, but it's not so much a request or invite for her to sit here exactly as it's him trying to let her feel comfortable.

Polaris has posed:
A sigh followed as the green haired woman made her way over and plopped down on the stair beside Scott. Lorna settled down beside him, her head held low as she propped up her chin with her hands. She closed her eyes briefly, exhaustion pulling at the line of her shoulders as they slumped and she relaxed further, letting her guard drop inch by inch as her body unworked the hours of tension that had kept her going.

A small shift and she made to kick off her shoes to the step beneath her. "I don't know what happened. I'm used to being the target of politics. I am who I am. But I've never ... I've never had to face such hate personally to my face like that. To have a woman in pain, shrieking in my face after I tried to save her. To have to... to do what I did to the crowd.." She shook her head.

"People died and I couldn't stop it. All I knew.. is that I had to do something to make sure more didn't die." She swallowed a thick lump that formed at the back of her throat.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott starrts to open his mouth but Lorna seems to feel like speaking and he wont interrupt or try to tell her what's wrong or right. She knows she did her best, but she also knows that her best, and her most vigilant can't save everyone. That's just part of life. She can only be in control of her own actions. It's something leaders have to learn how to deal and cope with.

Scott doesn't say anything, but he looks towards Lorna with his lips shifting between a frown and a smile, faint on both sides of the spectrum. He knows what she's going through, and to show his sympathy, he simply bumps her shoulder with his own. A sign of solidarity.

Polaris has posed:
A faint smile twisted to life on her lips as Scott bumped her shoulder. But it died as soon as it appeared and she dropped her hands to rest against her lap. "I'm worried that I made things worse by appearing. The way I was treated there was enough to get people riled up that like me. Or inflame those that dislike me.. and my family and Genosha a whole lot more because I was let go." She shook her head.

"I was in the station for... over six hours before they figured out what to do with me. If they'd kept me over night, which was almost looking like a possibility.. I don't want to think about how many more issues it would've created." She glanced side long at Scott and bit back a sigh.

"My father likely saw everything by now, don't you think?"

Cyclops has posed:
Scott slowly lifts his chin now that he's been addressed directly. "Yeah, he probably did." Scott says, his voice a whisper. It is near four am and most people are asleep and some are about to start their day.

Scott does ask a question afterwards, a follow up to get Lorna to think. "Do you think you'll get in trouble for his actions?" Scott is trying to get her to realize that she's her own person, and she needs to stop living in fear of her father's shadow, but he's certainly not the best at words, so it might come out wrong, but he's trying.

Polaris has posed:
A purse of her lips followed and she groaned, reaching up to rub her temples against the pounding of her head as she tried to figure out, mentally, the time differences between New York and Genosha. But math was hard when one was sleep deprived and she was exhausted. "I'm more concerned that he'll try to use what happened, particularly with me, as an excuse to action or something. That he'll try to use the video from whatever he finds as a tool." She grimaced, glancing side long at Scott.

"And yeah, I worry quite a bit that I was held at the station for so long because the local cops had no idea what to do with me.. But I also worry that they were trying to contact higher ups over it. What better way to try to keep my father from going off the handle than making sure the Princess of Genosha is safely tucked away somewhere?"

Cyclops has posed:
"Politics." Scott says with a frown, he doesn't know that part of her life so sympathetically, but he does know a thing or two about using people as leverage. It's part of warfare, something he knows a thing or two about. "I'm worried for you too, but I think you did everything you could right." Scott reasures before he reaches up to the railing. "Lets go get some rest and deal with tomorrow's problems tomorrow, okay?" Scott ask as he pulls himself up and extends his hand down to Lorna, to help guide her up to her bed.

Polaris has posed:
A sigh and Lorna nodded. She hated politics, while at the same time, had learned somewhat, over the past year in Genosha how to handle them. She'd learned to keep her temper more in check than she had previously. She'd learned how to talk to people in groups, how to listen to a room and how to present herself in a way that made her seem ... well, if not entirely 'royal' to the rest of the world, was close enough for most people around her.

Now she was a known element, for better or worse. She was a public figure.

The offered hand up to rise was taken, but she slowly shook her head in regards to rest. "I don't think I can. Rest that is.. I'm tired, but I feel my mind is racing. Also, tomorrow is now.. it's morning.. right? So today." She teased.

Cyclops has posed:
"I'm making an exception for you Lorna, you should take advantage of that. Go unwind, draw a hot bath or whatever it is that you enjoy. The world will still be here in eight or ten or however many hours you need." Scott smirks faintly, and then he lets go of Lorna's hand and he ascends the stairs towards his room and maybe get some sleep finally himself.
