Synopsis: Kitty finds Jason Todd wounded after a fight
Cast of Characters: Red Hood, Shadowcat

Red Hood has posed:
After dropping off Kitty last night at Harry's, Jason had made his way back to Gotham - he had a patrol to do before he could schedule his romantic rendevous with the counselor up in a romantic little bed and breakfast in Salem Center. That is until he ended up at Madori's Restaurant and his battle with Karai.

Falling from a rooftop, Jason was able to crawl away and make it back to his cycle. Sending a short message to Kitty from his bike after he was sure he was clear, he types out:

JTodd: Hey babe. Going to have to postpone. Had an intruder tonight. Got the drop on me. Raincheck?

He's trying not to concern her as his bike arrives at the brownstone and after he pulls into the garage, and reaches for a different number. After a couple of rings, there's an answer.

'Wayne Manor, Alfred speaking.'
'Alfred, it's me.'
'Master Todd? Has something happened?'
'Yeah, something happened. Let Bruce know there's a new player in town - get Stephanie to cover West Chelsea, I may be a day.'
'Do you require anything else, Master Todd?'
'No.' He pauses. It would be easy to get to the Batcave to seek treatment, 'I got it covered. Just a flesh wound.'

After stripping and stashing his armor, Jason crawled into the shower - through the bedroom that was still lingering with the soft smell of Kitty's perfume from her time over. He leans against the back wall, memories of the night before in his head.

Just a few minutes. Just close my eyes for a few minutes, and it'll be fine.

Slumping down against the wall so that he's sitting on the tile of the shower closet, as naked as a jaybird, he slumps forward and passes out, the blood loss catching up to him in the moment. It's a pleasant dream - Kitty's waiting for him in a field of Russian flowers - and they're suddenly in the Chamber of All.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's text messages back, full of worry, go unanswered. Enough of that she knows she'll sense her worry, and would reply if he were seeing them. So why isn't he seeing them!?

The trip to Gotham was accomplished with the aid of a friend. A far faster trip than the motorcycle could have made it. It also meant Kitty had to stand outside, dancing back and forth from one foot to the other anxiously as she knows she can't just pop in. Not in such record time. But he could be hurt.

Kitty stealthily goes about peeking in windows, trying to spot Jason. But she spots blood on the front stoop. Now she's really worried. She goes up to the roof and then begins peeking down through the ceiling, hoping an inch or two of her face looking down from above won't be noticed.

And so it is that she finds him, lying in the shower. The water on his wounds keeping the blood flowing. "No, Jason!" she exclaims, phasing the rest of the way through the ceiling. Landing herself outside the shower because of the water, and then pushing the shower open and leaning down to cradle him for a moment. Blood smearing her clothes. Not caring. "Jason, what... why aren't you at the ER," she says.

She hurriedly turns off the water and picks him up, though it takes effort. She carries him out into the bedroom, setting him down on the floor and then rushing back to the bathroom. Rifling through his medicine cabinets.

Wow. Does this guy keep a lot of bandages and medical care.

She finds what she needs though, quickly returning to begin pressing bandages to still open wounds. Stemming the blood loss first. Then beginning to take inventory of his wounds.

Red Hood has posed:
The water of the shower is cold. The hot water ran out some time ago. When she lifts him, the most obvious wound is the one to his side. Small and circular, most people would think it a bullet wound - an eye with experience will know the puncture wound of a sai. His left arm is heavily bruised and battered. The blood that was in his mouth has long since been washed away.

The back of his left leg has a cutting wound across the bottom of it. Not enough to cut the muscle, but enough to make it bleed. It's the second worst wound after the one in his side. He's not able to answer at the moment, being unconscious and all.

What she finds is advanced items - things that aren't exactly normal inventory for someone. Instead of aspirin and cough medicine, there's blood clotting hemostats. Bandages that have small zipties that are built into them to pull both sides of a wound closed. It's pretty advanced, cutting edge stuff - the same type of stuff that the school probably has on hand in the X-Base part of it.

Jason gives a soft chuff of breath - still clearly out of it. And he murmurs, "...commune with the darkness, accept the darkness..."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde goes to work, and if her hands fumble and shake a little bit, it has more to do with the fact it is Jason in this situation than for lack of medical training. Still, she mutters to herself. Things like, "Could use... Jean or Hank.... paid better attention..."

Kitty puts clotting agent on the worst wound and then focuses on the back of his leg. "I think the muscle's ok. I hope so," she says. Kitty uses a ziptie bandage on it, then checks his shoulder.

"You should have gone to the ER. Why didn't you? Stubborn, stubborn man," she groans. Part of her wonders if there is a reason he didn't go. For mutants, they might not get treated. No, don't be silly Kitty. He's not a mutant.

She reaches her hand into his body at the sai wound. Concentrating closely. Different matter she phases through feels different. Feeling for anything different than flesh. Any signs of metal. Finally she pulls her hand back, feeling more sure that she can close up the wound. "Assuming it didn't get an artery. But it seems to have stopped bleeding, the clotting stuff wouldn't have managed that," she tells herself. Antibiotics go overtop the wound, both of them, then she bandages it. "Stubborn, stubborn man," she grumbles to herself.

Red Hood has posed:
She has no idea how stubborn that Jason really is. The wounds are easy enough to close - while bad - they are clean. Efficent. This wasn't done by some random hoodlum. There's training there. Just as there was training that Jason was able to twist his body just enough to not take a more damaging hit.

The body armor helped as well.

The wounds to his shoulder look like they were caused by a blunt item. There's no broken bones to be found, but he's got some deep tissue bruises that will take a little time to heal.

As she works on him, there's a buzzing of Jason's phone that comes from his pocket in the pile of his clothes on the floor.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty goes to work on the shoulder then. Little she can do but bandage it, and ice it down later. Kitty makes a last pass over him, making sure the shower and her own ministrations have cleaned off all the blood. Then going over his body carefully, checking for any wounds she's missed.

The phone buzzes, and Kitty hesitates about picking up the phone. But given his situation, who knows who else may be trying to get in touch with him about what happened? She reaches over to dig in his pocket and check the phone. Not able to unlock it, but if it pops up the message on the screen like so many, she'll at least have an idea if it's urgent.

Red Hood has posed:
The phone comes up. And it's locked, of course.

It's a message from A Pennyworth: I have not heard from you, Master Jason, since your last message. I do hope you are well.

Kitty's managed to catch all of the wounds that he's carrying on him at the moment. And hey, she did want spend time with him this weekend. Probably just not like this.

While his flesh is pale, he seems to be getting his color back by degrees now that the injuries have been tended to and blood flow have been resumed inside the body, not out of it.

Hopefully Kitty brought a change of clothes. It may be a long night before he wakes back up. In fact, it's several hours. Finally, in the early hours of the morning, there's a soft groan that comes from him as he starts to struggle. A nightmare. The clutching of his fists, the movements of his body - he's having a full-fledged nightmare.

His body jerks and moves - muscle memory. Each stroke of the crowbar against him is reacted to before he sits straight up in the bed with a start, "No!" he gasps, trying to catch his breath.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty covered the bed with extra blankets in case the wounds open up, and then oofed as she moved him over to the bed. She didn't bring extra clothes unfortunately having literally flown over as fast as she could and without really thinking of what she might need.

She makes do with some of his clothing, and settles in beside Jason. Resting with her head on a pillow rather than his shoulder, not wanting to put any strain on his body. Just softly brushing her fingers over his chest until she too, dozes.

She comes awake as she feels him moving. Kitty watches him tense but there isn't much she can do but softly caress his chest, trying to soothe him. It doesn't seem to be working.

She's about to wake Jason when he finally sits up. Kitty sits up as well, moving a hand to try to restrain him, not wanting him to reopen his wounds. "It's ok. Jason, you're safe. It's Kitty. You're safe at home," she tells him, moving over in front of him so he can see her face. "You're safe."

Red Hood has posed:
Struggling awake, Jason finds himself in his girlfriend's arms, under his own roof. Not in a warehouse in the Middle East with his mother as a bomb's about to go off.

"Kitty." he breathes, managing to catch his breath, wide blue eyes turning to meet hers. "When? How?" he's confused. How long has he been out? How did she get in the house? Did he forget to lock the door? He was pretty out of it when he crawled into the house.

Reaching up to caress her face, he has to remind himself this isn't a dream. This is real. She's here. He's not hallucinating. He's not being beaten to death. It's fine.

Commune with the darkness. Accept the darkness.

His hands settle on her shoulders as he looks into her eyes as he draws in several breaths. "Kitty." he reminds himself. He's safe.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde nods her head as she bites her lip. The brunette's hair is a bit mussy, as if it got wet and just tried without being brushes. Plus was slept on. But her face is as warm as every as she holds Jason in her arms. "You're ok. You're at home," she tells him softly.

"You didn't answer after saying someone got the drop on you," Kitty says. "And I got worried and didn't know anyone else out here. I didn't have Damian's number," she says. Ok, she didn't think of calling him. She only thought of how fast one of her friends could fly or teleport her to Gotham.

"So I came out. And there was blood on the front stoop and... well, you were passed out in the shower. You lost a lot of blood I think. But I bandaged your wounds," Kitty tells him, softly brushing her hand over his chest. "Now lie back down, so you don't reopen your wounds. I'll get you some water. And some food, you should eat something to help you replace the blood you lost," she says gently.

Red Hood has posed:
"Yes, mom." Jason gently teases as Kitty is able to coax him into laying back on the bed. His hand catches hers before she rises though. His eyes meet hers, and those words are right there, on the tip of his tongue.

If he knew of the true effort she made - what she did. His eyes study over hers, and the features of that etheral beauty of her face.

"Thank you." he says quietly, lifting her hand and kissing her knuckles lightly.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde is back in one of his shirts, he might notice, hanging unbuttoned though she has her undergarments beneath it. "You're welcome," Kitty tells him, her eyes saying so many things that her lips do not right now. She leans down and presses a soft kiss to his forehead. "Sleep if you can, I'll be back with water and juice and whatever else I can find," she tells him.

Kitty starts to walk off, and then remembers. "Someone else was worried about you, might want to let them know you're ok," she says, moving over to get his food and bring it over to him. She touches his hand softly, smiling to Jason and then heading downstairs.

She probably already knows what to feed someone to help them replenish lost blood, but googles it just the same.

Red Hood has posed:
"Sleep? When the hottest girl I ever known is here? Perish the thought." Jason offers with a gentle tease as she gets up to leave. When she heads downstairs - she'll find that his pantry is pretty bare. He does indeed live out of the fast food bag most of the time. He lives alone, he doesn't have reason to cook often.

Upstairs, Jason leans back in the bed and closes his eyes before reaching for his phone. As he opens his eyes, he glances at the message and groans softly. Unlocking it with a finger swipe, he types a message.

I'm fine Alfred. Just a little battered.
I see. Should I inform Master Bruce of your status?
You can tell him what you want. I'm fine.
Very well Master Jason.

"Ugh. Whoever taught him to text needs to take away his phone." Jason mutters as he folds his hands over his chest.

Downstairs, Kitty may realize she may need to order groceries. Or pizza. Or something. Most of his meals are quick, on the go things. It seems he used up what was left of his supply of meat and eggs the last time Kitty visited. And don't smell the milk. The date on it is at least two weeks ago. Typical male.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks through the kitchen, grumbling softly at the lack of choices. She does the best that she can. Water of course. A bit of cheese. Some summer sausage that has a week left at least. A box of Ritz. Kitty can't help but grin at the memory of saying she'd forgo a Ritz addiction to avoid getting kicked out of his bed for eating crackers.

How fitting.

So it's cheese, sausage and crackers for a post-battle snack. And water. She'll have to run to the store as soon as he's asleep again. Kitty puts the food on a plate and takes it back up to his bedroom. "Not a lot to choose from, but this might hit the spot," she tells him, sitting on the bed with Jason and putting the plate there on the nightstand. She gives him the glass to drink some water.

"I'm going to run to the grocery store to get a few things for you. Is there anything in particular you'd like me to pick you up?" Kitty asks as she moves over to hands and knees, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to Jason's lips.

Red Hood has posed:
"A meal fit for a king." Jason says, a smile coming to his lips as he watches her return to the bedroom. With her setting down the plate on the nightstand, he starts to say more, when he feels the press of her lips to his.

Whatever else he was going to quip or offer is lost as he finds his hands on her sides and returning her kiss. When she pulls back, he looks up into her eyes. "Not yet?" he asks her finally. "I don't want you to go just yet." the admission is made as he looks her over again, considering the beautiful young woman.

"The best pick me up and medicine I can have at the moment is you in my arms."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde crawls forward on the bed then, moving around to the side that wasn't hit by the sai. "I don't know if your arms can make it around me," she says, eyeing Jason's injuries, but the tone is playful. She does indeed move into his arms, being careful to sit so he can hold her while lying back relaxed, and not have Kitty on any of his wounds.

"I hope you don't mind that I rushed over. Just... I figured worst case you were at the emergency room and they took your phone and I'd just have to sit out here and wait for awhile," Kitty says. She softly brushes her hand back and forth over Jason's chest.

She hasn't asked him anything about what happened yet.

Red Hood has posed:
"Not quite next of kin yet." Jason says, a soft chuckle in his voice as she settles in against him. "I don't have a TV in my room." comes the response as he gets his arms around her as best as he can. He may be sore and stiff, but he gives it a good go.

Especially when he feels that light touch on his chest. No, she hasn't asked him yet. He's not volunteering up the information. Instead, there's a smile. One of promise. And much more as he reaches over her, whispering. "How ever will we entertain ourselves?" he asks, turning off the light.
