Discussion in the Danger Room
Date of Scene: 25 February 2019
Location: Xavier's - Danger Room
Synopsis: Sam helps Rahne run through a Danger Room session.
Cast of Characters: Wolfsbane, Cannonball

Wolfsbane has posed:
The Danger Room. A place that's been home to the main source of advanced training for both the X-Men and New Mutants. And, now, for someone in a sort of in-between state: Wolfsbane.

The idea? A speed/agility test session, ramped up beyond the normal difficulty level. It may be an ambitious way to go for someone who hasn't been in here in months, but nobody can claim Rahne isn't trying to test herself to see where her reaction times and quickness are at.

She's asked Cannonball to run it for her.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks down from the control booth and says "You sure you want this level?" He asks before he starts it. He will lean over to watch her. "Rememebr none of us made it across the rom that first time.

Wolfsbane has posed:
"Tha' was then. This is noo," Wolfsbane says. Yes, it's a callback to their first training session ever, the one that showed how far they had to go in their learning. They've come a long way since then, but as they adapt, so too does the training. If the first one ever was just a two or a three out of ten, she's asked for five or so to account for her progression. More obstacles, more surprises, more things to test her.

Moving toward the doorway in, she adds, "I'm no' afraid o' failure. It's how we get better. Dinna hold back."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and starts with a few simple obstacles, and a laser or two shooting at her.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "You know you have came a long way fromt he shy wee girl you were when we got here firetop.""

Wolfsbane has posed:
The obstacles are there for Wolfsbane to cross, not unlike a steeplechase, leading to vaulting over or ducking under certain ones in this case. A laser firing at her from one side results in a need to get more horizontal to 'thread the needle' through, which she does with a slide and roll forward, forced to then crouch-walk through another spot with a pair of lasers limiting how she can proceed. "We're all older, Sam," she says, her answer short as she focuses. Pausing for a look at the next place to go, she adds, "I'm trying no' tae be scared o' th' entire world any more."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and nods. He will type away ans then as she crawls along the world will change around her, and she finds herself in a tunnel, just barely nig enough for her to speed crawl, and it seems to be getting hot behind her.

Wolfsbane has posed:
A glance behind when the room shifts toward a more confined space. Knowing it'll be easier to move in another form, she shifts from this one to the wolf instead. It opens up more room for her, especially since she can also crouch lower in this shape. Of course, she can't talk to Sam for the time being. Best to get moving before the heat is on.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and watches her, and as she finds her way out back up to normalk ground, she will see a skunk but rihgt in front of her. giving her only seconds to get out of the way of a face full of spray

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane's eyes widen, even as a wolf, and as she leaps her way out of the tunnel fully, she rotates in midair and is back to her midform. "Really? Samuel Guthrie, if tha' skunk got me, I'd ha' ended this right noo an' come given ye a great big hug!" And that, True Believer, is a threat.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "Hey you wanted a challange." And the skunk does spray and while it does not gt her, it may mess with her senses for a while.

Wolfsbane has posed:
Which is why, in order to avoid having to deal with those senses being off-kilter for now, the fur, claws, and fangs go away, along with Rahne's heightened senses. "Ye're an evil man," she accuses, but this is what she asked for. A real test of what she can do, especially when it involves no use of powers until she's sure that skunk scent won't bother her.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Doing pretty good pretty good." Sam will type away and resists the urdge to do majoy psychological warfare on her. He will have two nets shoot out at her, the second a moment after the first, and using his own knowleedge of how she moves to have the second go where he thinks she will dodge the first

Wolfsbane has posed:
Rahne doesn't look much different in the costume without the fur, though basic footwear has shown up, with soles that offer good, even surface grip. It might be easy to see why she's chosen it as a more individual part of her style. The skunk is back there a ways, but she doesn't quite dare to bring the stronger senses back just yet. The nets come at her from different directions, and while she's not as fast and nimble this way as she is in her midform, she ducks into a forward somersault to let the first pass by, but just as she begins to twitch left she sees the second moving for that spot. Instead of letting her momentum continue that way, she drops to the floor right on the spot. It would barely miss her.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie watches her and nods impressed, and with a few more strokes on the keyboard there is a harpoon thrusting a spear down at her while she is on the ground. And she can hear the laughter of the other Marauders laughing nearby.

Wolfsbane has posed:
Rahne /almost/ swears in something Gaelic. Only one or two people she could have picked that up from. The harpoon can only belong to one Marauder, but as the others take their amusement of her potential predicament, she's already rolling away from the path of the spear. By the time she picks up the net closest to her and flings it at Harpoon, she's back in her half-wolf form for the added strength and everything else. This definitely wasn't part of the original attempt, but nobody made it that far anyway. Perhaps it's completely different.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and watches as Harpoon catches the net on his harpoon, but it gives her an opening as he moves to untangle it. The laughter seems to get closer and one voice comes clear "Oh look at the cute little claws." It is Sabertooh's voice.

Wolfsbane has posed:
With Harpoon temporarily distracted, it leaves Sabretooth the primary focus of the wolfen mutant. She's seen him before, whether up close and personal or in files, and she knows what a threat he is. If he can give Wolverine a run for his money, he's going to be a threat to just about anyone. "Oot o' muh way. I dinna have time for ye," she growls, putting up a strong front to mask the fear. Danger Room or not, Sabretooth is Sabretooth, and she's not going to get any closer to him than she needs to be. The trick is in getting past him.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie watches her as Sabertooth has not came out of the shadows, the door there just a few feet away but that is where it sounds as if the voice is coming from.

Wolfsbane has posed:
The question becomes what to do. She's smaller, might be faster, but if this Sabretooth is anything like the real one, he's a killer, ruthless, and probably unpredictable. "Let me through an' I'll get ye a nice bowl o' milk," she tries taunting, to see if she can get him angry enough to come out and make a mistake. Meanwhile, she's crouched and ready to spring.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie watches as there is noise of claws scrapping on the wall, and the glint of eyes seeming to move towards the door, but Harpoon takes the distraction to throw his harpoon at her back.

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane frowns as she eyes the darkened doorway, having heard those claws, seen a shine in those eyes. It's hard to tell exactly who is there, if it's really Sabretooth or not, but she hesitates long enough to leave an opening. Just before, she both feels and hears the harpoon as it gets closer to her, and by the time she reacts it's too late. It tears through her right shoulder, or would have were it real, but with the room what it is it registers more as an impact since it's essentially a hologram. No damage, but enough to bring the scenario to an abrupt end with a yelp and recoil.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "NOt bad, not bad, but you did not take harpon out before concentrating on the new threat. you let it distract you from the closer threat.

Wolfsbane has posed:
As the Danger Room returns to its normal layout, Wolfsbane gets back up from where she'd stumbled and rubs the spot where she was struck. Her pride is more wounded than she is, and she might not even come away with a bruise. Grimacing as she realizes her mistake, she mutters, "I thought I'd have more time after I got him wi' th' net." If it was real, she'd have paid more severely for that error.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will comes walking down from the control rom, and says "Harpoon may seem like a joke compared to sabertooth, but he is not a push over, and he has multiple harpoons, so just tangeling up one is not enough. "Thought Ah had ya with the skunk mind ya."

Wolfsbane has posed:
"I didna take him as a joke," Wolfsbane points out. "Like I said, I thought th' netting wid keep him busy long enough for me tae get through th' door, but I never saw Sabretooth completely an' I wasnae sure it was safe tae pass." By that time, Harpoon was able to recover and get another weapon off. Then she squints at him and adds, "I meant whit I said earlier about if I got sprayed, if it was even real spray. It smelled real enough."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Stink bomb, but not the legit stuff, easier to easier to wash off but would have stuck with ya till your shower. Tried to make it challangeing but with still possibility of beating it. "No fake floors or tube to fly into." He says commenting on their first trys years ago."

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane remarks, "I noticed ye trying tae make me use all muh forms for different reasons, an' tha's good." She's worked up enough for some shorter breaths due to the exertion and the intensity of some of that as she walks back toward the door. "I've done tha' old one a few times since then, an' learned from it. I just wanted tae see how rusty I was." It coming down to taking out a Marauder proved to be the difference.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will walk with her his hand on her shoulder, and says "You did good. So, you wanting to try out for the big team, or ya wanting to help Illyana and Ah train the kids?

Wolfsbane has posed:
The hand will find both fur and the upper portion of Wolfsbane's outfit. "But no' good enough. If it was real, I'd either be dead or seriously injured." That's her takeaway from the test. "I guess it means I have tae be ready tae knock someone oot or a' least make it so he canna get back up an' attack me." For someone who was never much into actually fighting, it can be a tough balance. As they go back into the control room, she pauses. "I'm..no' sure."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, a bit and says "Well which ever you choose you know Ah will back ya play." He tells her and says "Oh Ran into Magneto in town the other day, he seems t be doing pretty well"

Wolfsbane has posed:
"I just dinna know th' best path for me yet," Wolfsbane says, going on to explain, "I spent time back a' Muir Island wi' Lady Moira helping her wi' her work, but I came back here hoping I might figure oot whit else tae do noo tha' I'm nae longer just a New Mutant. Maybe I should just give it time."

Mention of Magneto earns a careful glance from the Scot, a guarded note to her next words. "Is tha' so? An' whit did th' two o' ye talk about?" It's clear she's not exactly trusting of the Master of Magnetism.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Rachel told him about her future." He admits "Not sure that was the best of things, but not like Ah could have stopped her. He and Ah are on ok terms, Illyana and Ah went out there to try to cure some of those who had the black sleep a while back. It worked, so got us on better terms, Ah reckon. Thought it was magical, and figured her stabing them with her soul sword might break the magic. It worked, but wanted to try it on some one with a hardy constitution first ya know?"

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane goes for a bottle of water she'd left behind to sip from once she was done. "Nae, that was probably no' a great idea," she says of what Rachel is said to have done. "It's no' like he needs much o' an excuse tae rail against normal people. I know he's go' Genosha under his control, but I'm just fine no' setting foot in tha' country. But..remind me about tha' black sleep? I think I remember hearing something about it, but I dinna remember well."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Where all the people across hte world were falling asleep and not waking up. Was no other bad effects just not waking up. Turned out was magic. We were able to wake Erika's mom after we tested it."

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane makes a face. "I dinna know much about magic, but it's good someone was able tae figure it oot." It's over and done with, solved, so that makes it all better in her eyes. "Which do ye think I'd be better a'? Trying tae be an X-Man, or teaching?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Honestly which ever one you set your mind to. Ah know you well enough you set your mind to something you will do it and do it well. You just need to have the confidence in yourself, Ah have in ya.

Wolfsbane has posed:
"I appreciate yuir positivity, Sam, but I'm just trying tae think o' th' pros an' cons o' it all," Wolfsbane explains. "When we were training, th' Professor brought us in tae be th' next group o' X-Men, but we have a lot o' them around. Wolverine can already do all th' things I can do an' better, except for th' shifting, but I never thought o' muhself as much o' a teacher." She lets that sit there for a moment, then adds, "An' ye said Illyana is teaching? They let her?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Yea, Ah asked for her to help. Some of the students we got currently could learn alot from her. Evan, is a prime example, of someone who needs ot learn to hope for the best for the future. He does most of the time, but worried, cause he basicly came from apocalypse.

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane frowns. "I've no' had much o' a chance tae meet some o' these newer students yet," she says, stopping before the control panel for the room beyond, looking it over. "I just never would have seen her as th' mentor type, is all I'm saying." One need not be able to read between the lines very far to guess why, given Illyana's connection to Limbo. "But maybe she has more tae tell someone like him."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and and says "Then there is Laura, she is a clone of wolverine, with some baggage from how she was raised. Think she might learn well, from you and Illyana, and of course Andrea, Ah figure you might be able to give her some hints, cause you know, all werewolves look alike." He teases her.

Wolfsbane has posed:
Wolfsbane goes back to that water, downing the rest of it in one gulp, managing to swallow it before she does any kind of spit-take at the last of what he says. "I'll have ye know tha's no' true a' all," she points out, not quite getting the joke. "But..clones?" She just looks as lost about that as she sounds, left to shake her head. "Sometimes I wonder if everyone else is th' weird ones, or if it's just me."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Ah was just teaseing ya Ah have to admit, Ah have a favorite werewolf, and she is my little sis and always will be." He hugs her with one arm, and says "Ah think we all might be the wierd ones but all our weird turns out pretty good together"

Wolfsbane has posed:
"Well, I'm glad ye showed some sense in th' end," Wolfsbane answers, ending up leaning into the half-hug for a couple seconds before slipping free of it. "I think it's time we went back up. I'm getting hungry an' I dinna want tae be late for mealtime. Maybe th' next one in here, I'll get it right all th' way tae th' end."
