Synopsis: Professor Zoom infiltrates a military base for information... and is only partially successful, due to the interference of Snake Eyes.
Cast of Characters: Professor Zoom, Snake Eyes

Professor Zoom has posed:
The Sentinels were coming, and he didn't have nearly enough details to know how to handle the matter. Eobard Thawne was in a unique position in this era. A future historian, he had a good idea of what was going to happen... but the details were too little. Given this knowledge, he needed to get ahead of it.

It was time to fix that.

Earlier in the night, the yellow suit was donned, and Professor Zoom had run over to Fort Dix. Keeping a decent distance away, he scouted the perimeter and used electronic binoculars to give him an idea of how things were.

Keeping his superspeed for when he actually broke into the base, he spent a bit of time watching the patterns, monitoring traffic in and out, and making note of obvious watchtowers. A scout he was not... but he could outrun any of these people without a problem if he got caught.

Eventually though... Eobard needed to do the deed.

With a bit of mental preparation, Zoom blurred his figure, turned on his red, glowing eyes... and ran right through one of the gates. No one could see who it was, but there was definitely there that was picked up. "Command, Charlie 6. Reporting disturbance, and investigating, over." The guardpost watchman would be checking it and finding nothing, even as Professor Zoom started to scout the entire facility. A too fast to see trail wound through a good portion of the base, before he found what he was looking for: an open terminal with closed line of sights from the room itself.

Knocking out the person with a hit to the head, Eobard tossed the chair in front of the terminal to one side, and started to type, inserting a thumb drive into a port to upload the virus.

It wasn't long before security saw him on the cameras, and the base was put to alert as the call went out to local units, "Command to all units in Sector 4, Potential Meta intruder spotted. All units converge."

Snake Eyes has posed:
Having been in Gotham recently Snake Eyes is operating out of Fort Dix. He's got downtime that he's spending in the barracks he's currently lodged in. His firearms, explosives and sword have been checked in the armory downstairs from his room.

The commando is meditating, focusing on a strange sensation he'd felt earlier that night when on a mission in the city. He's left unsure of where that feeling came from and for a man who's mastered so many aspects of his mind and body it is quite disconcerting.

His peace is disturbed when the cell phone like device he carries vibrates to alert him to trouble just as a siren blares. Snake Eyes checks his gadget and immediately hops to his feet, heading out the door to the room. He hurries as other soldiers leave the rooms next to his, running for the stairwell and nimbly leaping down. Then he's at the armory. Though he's not the first in line the armorer recognizes the masked figure and goes for Snake Eyes' weapons, not wasting time making him sign for any of them. After taking a moment to make sure he's properly equipped and that his guns are loaded the ninja hurries towards where a soldier returning from a night on the town is getting out of his car. The young man is taken by surprise when Snake Eyes grabs his keys out of his hand and slides behind the steering wheel, starting the vehicle and immediately gunning it towards where the order to converge leads him.

Professor Zoom has posed:
Another moment passes as Zoom waits for the thumb drive to do it's work... before he starts to rapidly type. He needs to open an outside port so Gideon can get into their systems, and he needs to do it in a way that will severely hinder attempts at tracing. The people in security were no doubt trying to see what he was doing to that terminal... and when Zoom starts to type at superspeed to see if the thumb drive or he himself cracks security quicker... "Metahuman confirmed, looks like some sort of superspeed power." The voice states to those converging.

Red lightning flickers over his form as Zoom channels more Negative Speed Force energy in an attempt to get this done quick. Fighting a battle in a military base would be annoying.

It's in about a minute that the terminal is cracked, finally. "I'm online, Professor." A female voice states into the transceiver near one ear in the suit, and Zoom's distorted voice confirms, "see if there's anything in here for what I need, Gideon."

Now, the wait. "We have a security breach from the terminal, attempting trace now." Security states over the communications net for the base.

Snake Eyes has posed:
The device he's carrying alerts Snake Eyes to the fact that they're dealing with a speedster. That's a new one for the experienced operator, but he's probably the best equipped person on the base to handle a metahuman attack. Not that he'd hesitate anyway.

The masked man pushes the car to the limit, driving around anyone daring to go slower than him and even weaving through oncoming traffic. He's no expert driver by any means, occasionally scraping the vehicle against another car, light pole or other obstacle in his attempt to close with the intruder.

When he gets to the target building Snake Eyes slams on the brakes and twists the steering wheel to the side, letting the car slide to a stop before he shifts it into park, throws open the door and steps out at a run, scanning his surroundings to see where those responding to the alarm are positioned. Without wasting time he approaches where he'd been ordered to converge, loosening the sling on his weapon, flipping down the foregrip and extending the stock.

Professor Zoom has posed:
There are other soldiers converging on the small building where Eobard is: a square building that looks like a small lab. It probably has access to the more secure databases on the base.

By the time Snake Eyes is just outside the door, Gideon has done a search... and is starting to download the relevant data into an offsite storage drive, "I'm downloading now, Professor. This will take about two minutes with this connection."

That's two minutes Eobard will need to stand his ground. "Get it done, Gideon."

Nothing to do but wait, Professor Zoom moves into the center of the room, and draws more of the Negative Speed Force into himself, preparing for a defensive fight when Snake Eyes and his backup get to him.

Once the door is open, they'll see the man in the yellow suit... He's blurred from that superspeed, and those red eyes have a keen observation around himself, along with the red arcs of lightning flitting across his body... and strangely enough, Zoom doesn't move from where he is once they do get inside.

Snake Eyes has posed:
If he could talk Snake Eyes would be ordering the blurry figure to stand down and surrender, but he can't. Instead the ninja moves towards the intruder, letting the other soldiers he's with cover him. Chances are the firepower they bring to the table would be as effective at this range as anything Snake Eyes could provide with his weapon. Keeping his red dot sight on the yellow clad figure with one hand he gestures with the other, pointing directly at the speedster then at the floor.

The other soldiers follow Snake Eyes' lead, one of them shouting loudly, "Get on the floor!" The rank on his chest shows him to be a staff sergeant. The black shoulder sleeve has MP written on it in reflective lettering. He carries a carbine at the ready, trained on the threat in front of him. The other soldiers follow their leader's example, weapons aimed, safeties on, fingers off the trigger, showing excellent discipline.

Professor Zoom has posed:
If he was afraid of the soldiers, he's not showing it... and Zoom, in fact, utterly ignores the command. He stays right where he is.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Tilting his head slightly to the side Snake Eyes then hold up his free hand in a fist, then slings his weapon behind his back, approaching the metahuman. Along the way he points two fingers at his eyes and then towards computer console for the benefit of the soldiers with him, trying to silently give them an order.

The ninja reaches towards one of Zoom's wrists, attempting to gain control over the man with a pain compliance technique.

"Rodriguez, unplug the computer," orders the staff sergeant. The name on his right breast says 'Washington'. Rodriguez, a young woman not much over five feet tall and bearing the rank of private first class, squeaks out, "Roger sergeant!" She moves her weapon to the low ready and heads for the console.

Professor Zoom has posed:
Rodriguez gets almost to the computer when suddenly she's attacked from behind, and is sent flying a few feet across the floor from the sheer kinetic force as Professor Zoom runs directly at her, easily moving out of Snakes attempt at grabbing for his wrist. She's not dead... but boy is she going to feel that in the morning.

Red lightning trails behind him as he goes to the other side of the room, opposite the terminal.... leaving the other soldiers alone.

"That isn't happening." The monstrous, distorted voice of Professor Zoom replies, matter of factly, as he waits for their next move.

Snake Eyes has posed:
As soon as Rodriguez hits the ground Washington belts out an order, "Light him up!" Not knowing if his soldier is dead or alive he's willing to bet a bullet is faster than the superhuman. The soldiers all engage at once, rapidly firing controlled pairs at their target.

Without waiting to see if the others are successful Snake Eyes brings his weapon back around and levels it at the computer console, flicking the selector lever on the MP7 to full auto, finger beginning to press the trigger...

Professor Zoom has posed:
Snake Eyes has never seen anyone like Professor Zoom before, and his inexperience will likely make what happens next cause him to adjust his thinking.

Where there was once a blurred man in a yellow suit, there is nothing. Red electricity can be seen moving directly in front of that terminal... and there's a flareup of red electricity arcing over his body as he stands directly between Snake Eyes and his weapons... along with every other weapon... and both his hands start to rapidly superspeed in the air as he adjusts his reaction speed and starts to pluck each individual round out of the air, or at least redirect it so it hits somewhere else.

As they fire at Zoom, everywhere /but/ the Speedster is hit by the lead swarm. Professor Zoom is acting as a shield against them.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Bullets fly ineffectually towards both Zoom and the computer console, the soldiers quickly emptying their weapons. As their bolts lock back leaving their chambers empty the soldiers drop the magazines from their rifles and bring them in closer to their bodies to reload, movements made automatic through hours of training.

Snake Eyes, on the other hand, doesn't bother with his personal defense weapon once it's dry, letting it hang by the sling and approaching the yellow clad menace. The ninja draws his sword smoothly with one hand, shaking his head slightly at the speedster. His body turns to the side slightly, into a stance that will hopefully allow the swordsman to respond to threats more quickly. Then, as suddenly as he can, he lashes out with his blade, letting his keen senses and honed reflexes guide his blows.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"You're not as stupid as you look." The Professor sneers at Snake Eyes in a backhanded compliment.

Eobard is /fast/. Besides the Flash, no one can keep up with him... but even Zoom can't keep up with that hail of lead /and/ with Snake Eyes getting in his face. Time to level the playing field.

Red lightning flares once more over Zooms body, and in under a second, all the other soldiers get hits to the back of the head, knocking them out. Everything goes slow motion for Eobard as the Fastest Maniac Alive is pushed to his limits as he tries to limit the strain... then heads right back for the console. With the sheer distance he needs to travel, along with everything else... he manages to redirect most of the incoming bullets... but a dozen get through, despite his best efforts.

Electricity and electronic component shattering fill the room with small amounts debris as Zoom only partially completes his objective... and he looks back to Snake Eyes, anger evident on his face when he heads back to the other side of the room, "you fool; your superiors are going to let mass murdering machines into your country, and you're blindly following them." He snarls.

Snake Eyes has posed:
The soldiers collapse to the ground as they get struck, their weapons clattering as they're rendered unconscious. Snake Eyes remains focused on his opponent. He starts so pursue Zoom when the man's words reach him and give him pause. Tilting his head slightly to the side at first, then lifting his jaw in the other man's direction the swordsman seems to be silently asking a question. His guard isn't lowered, but he's not currently trying to strike down the invader.

Professor Zoom has posed:
"Those Sentinels the other countries are using are coming here. When they do, they'll turn on everyone, not just mutants." The Professor jabs a finger at the console, "I was here to find intelligence on their current status and leave, but you seem like you're a bit better than the rest of these idiots."

Zoom gestures over the fallen soldiers. "when your time comes, maybe you'll remember this moment." Zoom grates at him, before he superspeeds over to the console, grabbing his thumb drive, and red lightning trails behind him as he starts to leave the base... and go out into the night.

Snake Eyes has posed:
As the speedster zooms away from him Snake Eyes merely watches, not wasting the energy on attempting to catch an being with that sort of speed. Sheathing his blade he pauses to watch the lightning trails zip away into the darkness. Confident that the fight is over, at least for the time being, the ninja steps out into the night where more soldiers are now arriving. Spotting an infantry squad with a medic in it he motions them into the building where the unconscious soldiers wait, watching for a moment to make sure that things look to be going alright before someone with captain's rank rushes up to him, speaking loudly. Snake Eyes reaches into one of his numerous pouches and pulls out his cell phone like electronic gizmo, pressing a button on it and handing it over. Moments later the officer is apologizing and handing back the gadget to the ninja, who walks off into the night.
