Black Team Recruitment : Pryde, Katherine
Date of Scene: 01 March 2019
Location: Kitty Pryde's Room - Xavier's Mansion
Synopsis: Remy talks to Kitty about the Black Team. Now with more Krispy Kreme.
Cast of Characters: Gambit, Shadowcat

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau had mentioned, or at least strongly insinuated the previous day he wanted to talk to Kitty about something. Thus it should come as no surprise that he sent her a text asking if she was free for a consult on something. Of course he'd gone on the overview of Black Team with her once before but still..

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty hears her phone buzz over where it is sitting on the nightstand. Lockheed is lying closer, the dragon helpfully grabbing it with his mouth and swinging his head to lunch it her way.

Kitty snatches it out of the air, fingers working to unlock it while, without looking, she reaches out a hand to the dragon, who returns the gesture with a touch of his paw. Dragon dap, yo.

Kitty sends a text flying across the airwaves back to Remy: In my room. Come on by. I have cappuccinos. Bring snacks if you want them.

She hands the phone back to Lockheed. Because dragons aren't always the best at catching.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau doesn't just bring snacks, he brings Krispy Kremes. He gives the young woman's door a quick "Shave and a haircut." adding "Kitty, it's Remy," almost as an after thought. "Bettah let me in 'fore someone sees me out 'ere an' yah reputation is completely shot."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gasps. "Now I know why Rogue loves you. I mean, if she loves you. Or, you know, tolerates you or... ok I'm shutting up now before I talk my way out of Krispy Kremes," Kitty says as she sits up. Her door was left open for him. "Come on, come on, inside," she says with a grin.

She gets up and pours two cups of hot water, then mixes in some cappuccino mix. "How is everything?" she asks, motioning to the bed for him to have a seat. Lockheed takes off, flying around in the air around Remy's head to greet him before returning to land on the bed again.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau takes out a plain, unglazed doughnut, rips off a piece and lightly tosses it towards the dragon. Though he takes a chocolate chocolate iced with chocolate sprinkles for himself. "Not too much. Scott was less den pleased wit' Mah idea of Black Team, an' Honestly Ah t'ink t'ings woulda gone bettah if Ah 'adn't gone ta JEan first. She was more aggressively opposed ta de idea den 'e was. Seemed ta take it as a personal attack on Scott some'ow."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty gives Lockheed a little pat on the back as he eats, then takes a donut once Remy is settled. "Really? That's odd, I wouldn't have thought there was anything there to feel that way about it," she says. "So what ended up happening with? What you said in the Security Center, I got the feeling things might be going ahead with it. Is that not the case?" she asks.

Kitty will take a bite of the donut as she sits cross-legged on the bed with Remy. "Seemed like a good idea to me," Kitty tells him of the team.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods a bit, taking his coffee from here. "Oui, seemed like a good idea to most folks, save Scott an' Jean." He says shaking his head. "Scott gave me de go ahead in de end, but told me ta keep it on de down low as it were. He want's de x-men as a 'ole ta 'ave complete deniability. As dough we gonna be doin' wet work or somet'ing." Annoyance obvious in the Cajun's voice.

Shadowcat has posed:
"It might be tough thinking about putting tasks in other's hands," Kitty says. "And, you know, this isn't a comment about whether you're ready for it. Just that... it can be rough. I mean... we've had people die. That's tough on anyone on the team. But for a leader? Not saying you're not ready to lead, just... I can see someone being cautious about putting anyone else in that spot if they don't have to," Kitty tells him.

She tears a piece off of her donut to nibble on. "So who all are you looking at recruiting?" she asks.

Gambit has posed:
"Well Rogue wants in, and she's made some pretty persuasive arguments foh inclusion. Ah wan' Kurt if Ah c'n get 'im. Still on de fence wit' Logan, de man c'n be stealthy, but it's not 'is style. Betsy. An' of course Yah... dat is if yah still want de job."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty repeats, "'Pretty persuasive arguments'? Is that what the kids are calling it now?" She gives Remy a teasing smile. "Sure, I'm definitely in. We're still staying part of the regular team too, right, just working on this as a team together?"

Kitty takes a bite of her donut. "I think having someone with Logan's acute senses would be a good idea. It might not have to be him, but I don't think anyone else on the list has his sense of smell, do they? Hank but he's kind of big for this sort of mission."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods slightly, dipping his own doughnut in his coffee and nibbling it thoughtfully. "Laura, but dat coul' be even more 'eadache inducing wit' Logan should t'ings go sideways." he says considering the situation... "She probibly follow orders bettah 'owever.

Shadowcat has posed:
"Yes, I'm not sure which is better there," Kitty agrees. "Well, apart from finalizing the roster, what is the plan after that?" Kitty asks. She takes a sip of her cappuccino. Lockheed seems done with his donut, climbing up her arm to lay on Kitty's shoulder and about her neck as he is fond of doing.

"Have any ideas on a training plan? Have any ideas on how you want to organize the team? On what sort of roles you want people to have beyond the obvious?" Kitty asks. She gets another donut, tearing off a piece to nibble on slowly.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods a bit, considering. "Ah 'ave a few scenarios Ah wanna run t'rough, not de least of which is bring everyone up ta what Ah'd consider apprentice level t'ief, wit'out de use of powers. Logan's already dare. Rogue probibly 'as de skills locked away in 'er mind somewhere. Ah wasn' planning on making so much a higharchy as Ah was a group of specialists wit' shared skills in common. If it's a tech problem, be silly ta defer ta anyone but yah foh instance."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a quick nod of her head at that. "That would be good. Never know when a different skill is going to come in useful," Kitty agrees. "Disguise. Lockpicking. Tailing. Especially as a team. All of those could be useful to have everyone drilled in," she says. She takes a sip of her cappuccino. "So you're supposed to keep this quiet, but it's ok to proceed with it? Is that the gist?" Kitty asks.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods, "Dats de gist, wit' de understanding if we are capture or killed, de secretary will disavow any knowledge of our operations." He says this last with a bit of a roll to his eyes. Not that he doesn't think Scott would leave them to hang, he totally would, but they /are/ X-Men.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a soft laugh. "Well, I would imagine that regard it shouldn't be any different than any mission. I mean we might do spying and train for it. But it's no different, or should be, whether someone does recon for the whole X-men team, or they are going after speech notes. If it's not something worth risking then we shouldn't be sending someone." She shrugs and says, "Well, I'm on board. Just let me know when you want to start the training. Or anything else you want from me?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods, "Well Ah was 'oping foh us ta try an' see 'ow we c'n go aftah dat Sentinal plant." He says with a devil may care grin, taking a jelly filled and getting powdered sugar all over his shirt. "Specifically, Ah was t'inking, jus' ta mahself. What woul' it take ta put some sort of worm in dare operating system, If we c'n get yah dat close ta dare mainframe?

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde considers that. "It might take two trips. One to get at their programming to be able to write something that would work. And then another to go and plant it," Kitty says. "I haven't tried to get into the programming of the head we've got, yet," she says. Another thing to add to the laundry list. "Though it is an older model already, according to Forge."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods a bit, but says "Still it not likely dey reinvent de wheel every time, non? he says simply savoring the sticky sweetness of the doughnut. "Make somet'ing dats compatible wit' dat version, We'll get yah in, an' if it don' work yah already got a leg up on what yah need ta patch it. Or Am Ah wrong?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde considers that. "Well, if it doesn't work... it just depends on the details. It could be it won't upload. Or it won't ever run. Or it could be it causes them to crash or behave in some other odd way and they detect it and start guarding against it better," Kitty says. "There's also the whole... able to detect mutants thing to be concerned about, of course, in trying to plant it in the first place."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods slightly, "Which is somet'ing else foh yah ta consider talkin' ovah wit' Forge." he says considering and rocking back in the chair slightly, "MAybe yah two c'n figure out /'ow/ dey detecting mutants and knock up somet'ing ta make it so we don' register dat way.."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Yes, that's something I'd like to work on," Kitty agrees. "Maybe figure out how to make the Sentinels register each other as the threat they are supposed to stop," she says, chuckling. Chuckling because lets face it. It's never that easy.

"I'd better find a way to contribute on them like this, big time. Because there's only so much I can do against something like that. I mean, I can take some out by phasing through them if I get the right spots. But getting there could be an issue," she says. Especially if they figure out her weaknesses.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods slightly, "Don' underestimate de contributions yah c'n make wit' jus' yah brain chere." He says with a slight smile. "Ah c'n do allot of t'ings. Get in an' outta places wit'out being seen. But dat stuff yah were doin' on de computer? Dat was like Alchemy ta me.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles over to Remy and says, "Thanks. That means a lot coming from you." She leans back a bit and sighs. "I should probably put some equipment together. For the new team. And... just good to have on hand. Some stealth gear." She looks over to him and gives a little embarrassed side to side head bob. "You know. Ninja shit," she says, blushing a bit. She doesn't curse very often.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins a bit and nods, "Ah'm lookin' foreword ta seein' what yah c'n cook up." He then takes three more doughnuts out of the box, wraps them in a bit of wax paper, and closes the box handing it over to her. "Consider dis yah down payment... But if Ah don' share some wit' Rogue she'll do 'orrible t'ings ta mah beautiful body."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets out a soft laugh. "Best not to push that lady," Kitty agrees. "Thanks for coming by. I'll look forward to the training," she tells him, giving Remy a wink. "And I'll keep quiet about in the meantime." Kitty hops up, taking the donut box and setting it over by a few boxes of cereal she keeps in her room. "And also? You totally know how to bribe someone the right way," she says with a grin for the donuts.
