Ares has posed:
After his visit to New Asgard and finding the King was gone, Ares had spend the next few hours finding some other allies who might be willing to help with the conflict on Olympus.

He had one more day and he chose to seek out the Avengers themselves. There were a few of them who had helped in the past. Perhaps Thor would be present so he could discuss the Asgardians.

The portal opened on the lawn of the Avengers Mansion instead of inside. The opposite side was a mass of swirling darkness and shadows. Out strode the God of War, fully armored with a massive axe slung across his back. He stops, standing on the sidewalk like it's the most normal thing ever, waiting to be acknowledged.

Thor has posed:
Within the mansion the alarms are sounded, illegal presence on the back lawn. Robotic voices announce the warnings to various rooms where the Avengers dwell and assuredly a message is conveyed to Stark's security systems as well.
But before any action can be taken the response to Ares' presence is abrupt. Several rods extend upwards from the wrought iron fence and suddenly there's a flickering blue flash of electricity dancing back and forth over the entrance to the mansion, the gate outwards, the fence, and above the mansion itself flickering with a buzzing zot-zot-zot sound.
Beyond the yard citizens leap back from the now alive defense systems as a mechanical voice announces, "Stay back, please. Stay back, please."
A speaker aimed in Ares' direction states clearly, "Please remain where you are, you are in violation of private property. Please remain where you are."
But then the back door /bursts/ open and there stands Thor, God of Thunder, in civilian clothes of jeans and a jacket, Mjolnir in hand as he holds up a palm towards Ares as if to stay him. "Stand down, curse you!" He announces towards the security systems. Luckily that is programmed into the emergency deactivation voice recognition and the systems disengage.

Ares has posed:
As the systems go off, the portal slams closed behind Ares. He turns slowly to eye the electrical blockade that is meant to keep him in place, his expression hidden behind his helm though the red glow of his eyes glows brighter as an indication of his mood.

He starts to reach over his shoulder for the handle of that axe just as Thor bursts outside, Ares turning his head sharply to the other god. He considers the held up hand and relaxes his grip, lowering his hand before it reaches the handle of the axe.

"Thor. Well met. I had sought you at New Asgard, only to find your sister instead. I bring ill tidings from Olympus."

Thor has posed:
"Ares," The tall Asgardian frowns as he looks the man over. He tilts his head slightly, then folds his arms over his chest. Not exactly welcoming, not exactly approachable, but then such is the way between gods of conflict. "It seems the time upon us is one of many such reports." Meaning assuredly the poor news having been brought to him so recently as well.
"What has befallen Olympus that would bring you to the Avengers?" Why would you come to those who are not your friends? The subtext there, leant more credence with the way Thor still seems stand-offish.

Ares has posed:
"There are some in this place I have called allies in the past though my reasoning is more that this could have an effect on this realm." Ares crosses his won arms, mirroring what he is receiving from his fellow god.

"An ancient Japanese pantheon has laid siege to Olympus. If they choose to attack other pantheons, I know the Asgardians are in a vulnerable position. My ...family," Ares says the word with utter disgust. "Asked for my assistance to help sway the battle in their favor. I declined." That scarlet glow increases from his eyes. "Yet the enemy made a mistake. They took my son." He pauses, not able to continue for a moment. Whether due to anger or some other more raw emotion is impossible to tell.

"They have sealed their fate and I will save my son."

Thor has posed:
Thor's brow knits together as he looks to Ares and at the mention of his son, the Asgardian's brows rise and his good eye widens. His features tighten as he realizes the implications of the words granted him and he takes a deep steadying breath. "Ares..." He shakes his head and from the body language it is clear the reply is not going to be good.
"There is so much afoot, my own home is threatened. The Avengers have been facing this robotic threat from the mortals." He takes another breath but then exhales it through his nose, as he tries to focus his mind and his thoughts. "Were this not so..."
His arms unfold and he takes a step to the side, then rests Mjolnir upon his hip. A few strides out onto the lawn where he stands before the Greek, "What I can do is send word to those of my people, to see who would take up this gauntlet at my behest. I must remains here on this plane, and amongst the people of Midgard. Lest I would go myself."
He runs a hand along his beard, thumb and forefinger dragging over his cheeks as he focuses. "I will also speak to the Avengers and tell them what occurs. How much time have you?"

Ares has posed:
"Hela has agreed to assist me. Any others, I would be...grateful for," Ares says though it pains him to even say those words. He gives a nod, understanding that the dangers to his family are not an emergency to everyone else. But the Asgardians are vulnerable so he wanted them warned of the impending battle of gods.

"Twenty-four hours. After that, I take those who have allied themselves with me and we will force our way to Asgard though a window that Hermes is aware of."

Thor has posed:
A grunt comes from him, "Then I shall speak to them immediately." He chews the inside of his cheek for a time as he ponders how this will fit into what already is occurring and what resources are available. And he finds himself coming up wanting, with little to offer.
"I shall also pass word to those of New Asgard that those who would join you are free to do so." He takes a deep breath and then extends his hand towards the Greek God of War and says, "Beyond that I know naught of what further aid I can be. But I wish for your success, Ares."

Ares has posed:
"I thank you. Should Asgard have need in the future, you may call upon me for aid." THere is no doubt in the mind of Ares that he will be available to call upon, even with the threat hanging before him. The idea of defeat simply never enters his mind.

With a thought, he turns as the portal opens again. "I will seek more allies while there is time. One day from now, have those who would assist meet here." He moves to stride through the portal without a backward glance.

Thor has posed:
"Meet here?" Thor's voice lifts at the end as he then adds, "Are you certain that's a good..." And of course by that point Ares has stepped through the portal, already setting to his efforts and disappearing from view.
The Thunderer, for his part, frowns and refolds his arms over his chest. He looks to the side and tilts his head as he considers the mansion itsel, but moreover likely thinking of the other Avengers...
And what he shall tell them.
