Cast of Characters: Brainiac 5, Superman, Magno

Brainiac 5 has posed:
It has been a strange and colorful series of events over the past few days. Arriving in a time not his own, putting out a distress call and finding a few of his fellow time-flung friends. He probably should have sat tight. But Brainiac 5's mind is active, and not easily contained, so he left the temporary headquarters provided by those friendly strangers, and he's busy implementing the next step in his plan. Which is to say, he is currently on top of the RandCorp Metropolis building, one foot touching the top of it, as he works to wire a device cobbled together from old circuit boards and duct tape into the signal antenna there.

Superman has posed:
That's not something you see everyday: someone strapping some sort of improvised electronic device to a signal antenna. Floating over, cape rustling behind him, Supermand folds his arms over his chest as sets his face on gently displeased.

"I'm not sure that's such a wonderful idea if you don't have the building owner's permission," he says mildly.

Magno has posed:
Coming up from the stairway room, still sliding his Science Police shoulderguards into place; Dyrk resumes what might have been a running conversation - at least in his own head. "I've looked up the necessary information," in Interlac, because Brainy's up here and no one else right? "and it looks like the Baxter Building actually has *protoc--HOLY SPROCK, IT'S *SUPERMAN*!"

You can practically hear the heart bubble.

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Well, it's interesting -- the young man in question is green to the gills -- and when he looks up, he's got the triple-circle of the Brainiacs wired into his forehead in glittering cybernetics. He pauses, holding the device in his hand. "...It's only a temporary augmentation of the existing satelite broadcast array, sir." He holds the device in his hand. Still. "Yes, Dyrk. It would seem that it is Superman." He has the good grace to look embarassed.

Superman has posed:
Superman looks over at the other voice, a faint smile creeping to his face, though his eyes remainded guarded. Eyes that return to Querl as he speaks and turns and Kal inhales sharply. His body goes into a defensive tension in a heartbeat, the blue of his eyes suddenly containing a thin line of red at the edges of hte irises.

"Brainiac," Superman whispers softly before his face hardens again and his hands close into fists.

"Unhooked your augmentation device," Superman orders with a warning tone.

Magno has posed:
"But we need that to look for the other Legionnaires!" Superman should know Interlac, right? As he jogs the remaining distance between him and his teammate, Dyrk continues - "Don't you recognize Brainiac 5? He's the *good* one!" Dismayed look at the zapped connection from the device, "Grife. Are you going to be able to fix it?"

Brainiac 5 has posed:
There is a momentary pause, before Querl looks up at the Man of Steel. "Very well." He says. He unhooks the device, and holds it out, in the palm of one hand. "You may look it over if you like. I mean no harm."

As a pre-emptive measure, he holds up his hand to Dyrk. "It's all right. This wasn't unexpected. Yes, Superman, I am a Brainiac. Specifically, the fifth iteration. I am Brainiac 5. My mother was Brainiac 4. I mean no harm. This is going to take some explaining. I'm aware." He pauses, and then says, "I am, as I said, the fifth iteration. The Brainiac you know as Brainiac is actually Brainiac 1. As various Brainiacs have been destroyed, sought to enhance their own perfection, or performed other experiments, they have created new versions of themselves. I was concieved biologically by Brainiac 4 roughly one millenium in the future as an experiment in feeling emotions." He pauses. "A failed experiment. After she abandoned me, I was raised by the government of the planet Colu, the homeworld of all Brainiacs."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
He adds, after a second to sort out his own thinking, and with some innate chagrin for not saying it sooner, "This is Officer Dyrk Magz. My friend."

Superman has posed:
Superman looks back a Dyrk, brows pulling together in a bit of confusion. The good one? Blue eyes skip back to Querl as Brainiac #5 - grr earworm! Someone in Texas is listening to Mambo Number 5!! - explains what he is. Stillnot looking convinced, Kal takes the device and peers at it. He recognizes some of it but...

"What are Legionaires?" he asks to cover for the fact that he doesn't really get all of the components and so he just wants to give this thing to Batman and HIM dechypher it.

Magno has posed:
"Oh my Grife, Brainy..." Dyrk is both horrified and disappointed; "I thought he knew you guys when he was younger?" Brow knitted in concern, Dyrk extends his ring hand to Superman, pointing at the emblem on it with his free hand. His English is awful, and the Interlac accent makes him sound Canadian by way of Sweden. "Don't you recognize?"

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainiac 5 looks to Dyrk, and back to Superman. "Cosmic Boy's so much better at explaining this than I am. One thousand years from now, give or take, a group of individuals with meta-abilities will be selected from world across the galaxy to form a Legion of Super-Heroes, based on examples from down the millenia. It will be a time of fragile politics and great need. There appear to have been shifts in the timeline based on whatever Mordru and Glorith did that I haven't accounted for, Dyrk. But Superman is Superman." He glances back to Superman, and says, "One of those inspirations is you, Superman. And the Justice League." He seems somewhat bemused by the whole thing. "As for me--I something of an outlier among Brainiacs, regarded as something of an iterative failure, likely to be skipped when the time comes to create Brainiac 6. I have a problem with hero-worship, particularly of my line's traditional enemies... the House of El."

Superman has posed:
As more and more is explained to him, Superman's body loses more and more of that tension in favor of just looking slightly confused and concerned.

"...So, you're from the future. And you're part of... a group inspired by the group I'm in?" He waits for the pair to confirm he understood this, and his eyes loko to the device.

"And you're hoping to use this to locate others from your future trapped here and this device can help?

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"It's a refinement on my signal beacon, yes. In this case, I was hoping to use it to locate any Legion Flight Rings that might be active so we can home in on their signal. But you've raised a good point that simply hacking into this era's satellite network to do as I please is of questionable ethics." Brainiac 5 rubs the back of his neck, and says, "So I will think of a different way to go about it. Where we come from, you are remembered as a great hero, Superman. *My* hero."

Magno has posed:
Dyrk Magz looks quite relieved. They've talked it out, and here Brainy was saying earlier he wasn't a talker. Dyrk gives him a reassuring squeeze of the shoulder and silent 'Well done.' "Our hero," he tells Superman in his terrible English. "The exploits of your compatriots, but especially your own, live on in legend into the future."

Superman has posed:
This news was unsettling. So far int he future and his acts here are still remembered. It gives Clark plenty to think about, so he holds out hte device, retuning it to Brainiac 5.

"Thank you. Brainiac Five." Just... think of him as Johnny Five, Clark. You'll be fine. "I appreciate your understanding about this. If you need something? Say so in Interlac. It's not common on Earth. I'll find you."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Querl takes the device, and turns it over in his fingers. "If you ever need me, Superman, I'll come. It doesn't matter if I'm a galaxy away. And I'll bring my Legion with me. I don't know if we'll ever be able to go home. But maybe that doesn't change anything, hm? But there is something we could use your help with -- do you know where we might be able to find a spaceship I can refurbish? Dyrk has plans to make an appointment at the Baxter Building. But if there are other Legionnaires here, we're going to need a home base."
