Logan Knows Best
Date of Scene: 10 March 2019
Location: Xavier's School, Westchester, New York
Synopsis: Logan helps Bets up her game from terrible to passable.
Cast of Characters: Wolverine, Psylocke, Cyclops

Wolverine has posed:
Smoke billows from the wreckage all over the Danger Room, illusory to be sure but still obscuring the faux outdoors of what looks like New York's Central Park. Fallen robot parts and destroyed Sentinels lie in various states of disarray, with sections of the grass destroyed be errant energy blasts, and the boathouse on the lake crushed with a large robot having fallen onto it.
Though that large robot now lays inert, it continues to hiss and sizzle with the occasional crackle of cooking off ammunition. All told it was a successful exercise, and now comes the hard part.
Logan pulls his mask off with one hand grabbing into the eyelets and yanking back so it rests at the back of his neck, bunched like the fallen ears of a grumpy German shepherd. He shakes his head and points at Psylocke some small distance away. "Ya know, Braddock, when I do eventually die I want you ta be onea my pall-bearers. Just so you can let me down one more time."

Psylocke has posed:
That earns an arch of a lavender eyebrow. The crisp British accent is heard as Psylocke sheathes the katana across her back again, shaking her head. "First, you will outlive us all. Second, if by some miracle that didn't happen, I would refuse to help carry your heavy, adamantium laced carcass anywhere. I might chip a nail." Considering she isn't one to worry about nails, it is obvious she's teasing despite his grumpiness.

"We can't all have a power that works on every threat. You deal with Sentinels, I'll deal with telepaths. Deal?"

Cyclops has posed:
From inside the control room a voice comes across the PA inside the Danger Room. "You can do better. Both of you. Now run it again." Scott says before he smashes a button and twists a knob before he leans back into his chair and smirks idly at himself.

Wolverine has posed:
With the button hit, the entirety of Central Park flickers back to life, the trees right themselves, the boathouse repairs itself. And there, once again, that flight of five Sentinels resumes their initial place, hovering above the mass of civilians who are all already in flight as they break into flight, fleeing from the robotic menace.
Sighing, Logan scowls and pulls his mask back into place, blades sliding forth through his knuckles with a low /snikt/ as he turns. "Can I have a better partner for this at least? Like mebbe Cypher?"
But as he says that he breaks into a run, probably trusting Psylocke to cover his flank since despite what he says, they've been teammates for a long time and do actually work well together.

Psylocke has posed:
"Cyclops, for the record, I hate you," Psylocke calls out cheerfully to the booth as the scene starts again from the top. She gives a smile in the direction where she knows the booth is, though she cannot see it in the room. All she can see are screaming people and giant robots. For a moment, she feels like she's in an old Japanese film but alas, these things are real threats out in the world now.

"At least he could speak to them in binary and probably reprogram them on the spot." Yet Psylocke is right there covering Logan as she charges, drawing out that katana once again since it's about the most damage she has been able to do to the things.

Cyclops has posed:
"Psylocke, for the record, you're the umpteenth person to tell me that." Scott chimes in as the Sentinels fly once more and the leader chuckles in his injured state before adding, "Today. And Logan, of course you can't have a better partner, we don't have any of those in this school."

Wolverine has posed:
Scowling, Logan plants a boot on the dumpster behind the boat house and uses it to /leap/ up onto the roof of it, continuing his run as he uses that added height to make the jump across the distance and to land heavily on the back of one of the Sentinels that had been tracking some of the civilians with its hand-cannon.
All six blades sink into the spine of the robot and then the metal squeals as it scrapes down while Logan lets himelf drop with freefall. It's a kill, as the machine splits into pieces, its back exposed with wiring. But with the Sentinels the first kill is always the easiest.
"Harsh words fer the student body, Summers." He snarls as he lands and twists, now seeing that with the attack the other Sentinels are turning to recognize them as threats.

Psylocke has posed:
"And therein is the problem with your sentence, Logan," Psylocke says as she follows at a run, using her agility to stay out of the line-of-fire. The Sentinels try to line up but she keeps moving before they can get a lock. A few of the blasts take out some of the trees.

She uses the fallen trunks as a bridge of sorts, leaping from one to the other until she can spring the distance to land on the shoulder of another Sentinel. The katana is driven into the eye on that side of its head even as the fellow Sentinels turn and get their lock to fire. As Psylocke drops behind the robot's shoulder and lets the fire from his own robotic allies take him out.

Cyclops has posed:
"The psychic ninja is keeping your ass alive Logan and you want to compare her to the students. I thought you were better than that." The man in the high tower says, and cranks up the aggressiveness on the robots, to far above what the X-men and avengers have actually seen, but why not give these two a challenge, it may prove useful later.

Wolverine has posed:
Suddenly a trio of blasts lance out even after Psylocke causes those Sentinels to destroy their own colleague. Blazes of burning light set fire to the grass as they track after Logan, their heavy steps stomp loudly as they begin rushing forwards in pursuit.
"Well," Logan's voice is heard on the comms and probably loud enough for Psylocke to hear directly, "Ta be fair that wasn't bad." He takes cover behind a heavy old oak that suddenly bursts into flames, enough to cause falling branches and embers to crackle to the ground around him.
As the trio of robots stomp towards him, aggressive in the extreme, he quickly climbs up the back of the tree, claws /chunking/ hard into the bark as he climbs up. Those robots come around to where they think the mutant should be... only for the deadly Canadian mutant to leap out of the tree top and stab right into the face of one of the Sentinels, twisting its head around 180 degrees.
Of course, with the aggression set so high, the other two robots shoot right into the injured robot's head while trying to get through to Logan.

Psylocke has posed:
Things just went from bad to worse. Though she does fight the good fight, the machines learn and they won't fall for the same trick twice. Throwing in that her powers are all but useless against the machines. Unless...

"Logan!" she calls out as the two robots open fire on his location. She reaches out with her powers but psionics do no good here. Her telekinesis is just a wild blast usually when she does it but maybe she can try her other power. The red tattoo over her eye appears as she draws on her shadow powers.

One of the robots that is blasting at Logan suddenly finds itself standing on nothing but a black hole, created from the shadow it is casting. It falls in to the knee then she closes the portal, ripping the leg off the machine. The Sentinel topples but it isn't down yet.

Cyclops has posed:
Then Scott props his feet up and chuckles at the two most capable X-men are set to face some of the greatest foes they've ever encountered so far, and with rage levels beyond that of the acutal in world robots, Scott laces his fingers behind his head and slowly begins to doze off, ignoring all the comm chatter.

Wolverine has posed:
The Sentinel that suddenly finds itself wading through some unknown substance lowers its head in a curious pantomime of human bafflement, sweeping its eye sensors over its predicament only for the shadowy portal to disappear and lop its legs off just under the knees.
Sparks burst out and blaze with life as it falls forwards, suddenly unable to stand, its large hands reaching out to try and arrest its fall, and forcing it to keep its weapons lowered to recover its mobility.
It's a moment of weakness provided by Psylocke, and Wolverine isn't one to let it pass by. He breaks into a run, blades sliding out of the head of that other now fallen Sentinel, grass and dirt exploding behind him as several explosive rounds are fired in his direction. "That's new." He announces at Psylocke's portal offensive. He leaps to close the distance and slashes clean through the fallen Sentinel's torso, tearing it wide open and exposing the sizzling circuitry.
Rounding to finish it off, it's just in that moment when he gets hit with one of the explosive rounds smashing into his chest and knocking him back with a loud /Whumpf!/

Psylocke has posed:
"It worked!" Psylocke sounds surprised at that but now she has another method she might be able to use to fight them. The trick is to do so without getting herself shot. Like Logan.

Another round comes her direction and she leaps out of the way even as the robot stomps her direction, thinking Logan is down now after that explosive to the chest. The Sentinel is blasting at her over and over and it takes all her skill to keep one step ahead of it.

She won't be able to keep this up long though.

Wolverine has posed:
Knocked straight through the side of that boathouse, Logan winces and pulls himself to his feet. Outside there's still the sound of zorching laser beams and stomping robot boots as it pursues after the nimble Psylocke.
He doesn't hesitate at all, despite all their clashing now and again, Logan wouldn't leave Psylocke out to dry. He breaks into a run through that same gap in the wall and takes a split second to get the lay of the land even as the hole in his uniform smokes from the impact of that explosive round.
The mostly wounded Sentinel turns and tries to bring its hand up to track on Logan as its metallic voice lifts, //Halt Mutant. Hallzzzzzttt.//
Its laser slashes out but only manages to dig a furrow into the ground. But that might serve...
Grabbing that robot's arm, Logan twists it around to take a bead on the one chasing after Psylocke. "Take another shot, tinman, if ya got the guts."
The downed Sentinel spatters again but the arm laser burns to life as it blasts straight at the other robot chasing after Psylocke.

Psylocke has posed:
"Bloody hell," comes the mutter from Psylocke as she continues to stay barely a step ahead of the Sentinel. Which is when the laser fires in her direction, eliciting that response.

Two of them. And Logan is---Ahhhh.

She dives to the side and back, going directly below the lowering foot and tumbling out the other side as the Sentinel /slams/ the foot down in an attempt to smash her. Which puts its leg right in the starting line of fire. The beam rips through its leg and that is just the beginning...

Wolverine has posed:
The laser does a good job of slicing up and bisecting the overly aggressive Sentinel in not quite equal halves. It's left side and upper body slowly slide off to the side, while the right side remains standing there with hip and legs intact. There's a great many sparks and flickers of flame as the destroyed robot falls apart, its energy source dying with the collapse.
The one still under Logan tries to move, its hands digging into the ground as it shuffles and tries to shake the mutant off...
Only for its struggles to be ended with an abrupt /shunk/ of three blades slicing into its head. It goes still.
Dusting his hands off, Logan rises to his feet and looks around. "Alright, that was better."

Psylocke has posed:
As the Sentinel goes down, Psylocke gets clear before the parts start falling and sparks go flying. She is heading to help with the last one but Logan finishes it off with a quick trio of puntures to its head.

"Well. At least I learned something that might work a bit better than my katana," she murmurs as she looks at the blasted portion of his uniform. "Are you well?"

Wolverine has posed:
"Ehn, this?" Logan brushes a hand over the bare spot scortch marks where his skin is bright and red, clearly still recovering and healing. "I've had worse." Which, to be fair, he has.
He gestures with a nod towards the door. "C'mon, I'll buy ya a beer." And with that the two make for the door of the Danger Room even as it appears.
