Cast of Characters: Shadow, Oracle, Carrie Kelley

Shadow has posed:
Life hasn't been good for the Maltesi family lately. Entirely too many street-level capes are suddenly paying attention to organized crime, and whether by design or by accident their operations have born the brunt of it. They've lost drug operations, and a good third of their 'insurance' enforcers, which means that their regular protection payments aren't coming in. Which probably explains why they felt it was worth listening to one of their less regular contacts who said they could arrange for some extremely high tech hardware that the more unscrupulous industrialists would pay a fortune for.

To be fair, their contact delivered... But when they tried to sell the hardware on, one of the machines self-destructed during the demonstration, and the buyers dried up.

All in all, it's not a good time for Joseph 'Big Joe' Maltesi... And he doesn't even know how much worse it's going to get, because with the recent personnel problems, some of his underlings were less careful than they should have been when arranging for this warehouse. They reused a cover that they weren't aware had already been tagged by Gotham's Queen of the Internet... And thus, Oracle knew about the location within five hours of the purchase... And now the Birds of Prey are on their way.

Oracle has posed:
The ever present sound of Oracle's gender neutral voice in their ear leads the Birds of Prey unto the location whiel she taps away at the keys of a laptop to lead several of her aerial drones into a position to provide visual confirmation of waiting guards. "The street level hustlers for the Maltesi family have grown careless over the last few nights and I have identified one of their safehouses they used for a drug deal gone south a few months back. I have sent you both the location and I should have aerial coverage by the time you have arrived." She says into the mic running down along her jaw.

"I do not know what they are storing, so our primary objective is identification without alerting them to our presence. I have eyes through your mask cameras to record for later investigation. Stay quiet, stay safe."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Kestrel, one of the newer Birds as well as vigilante in general, approaches from the shadows cast by nearby buildings. The brick red and black of her suit help her blend in all the better with the utilitarian nature of the warehouses in this area. As Oracle whispers into her ear the details of this particular operation she crouches low to the ground to carefully scan the area. On the lookout for lookouts she observes the building in question seeking to find a way inside to scope out what was within.

<In position on the ground, here,> She sends over the radio before going quiet. Chattering didn't seem like a good way to do things right now.

Shadow has posed:
"I see you," comes the response from the other member on the field -- and for just a moment, Carrie can see a shadow flickering past a pool of lamp light by the warehouse where nothing could be casting it. "Only three sentries outside, but they're all armed."

A noise crackles over the line that was probably a chuckle. "... And apprehensive. Apparently their boss is not happy, and when their boss is unhappy he goes looking for excuses to spread his ire around..."

The chuckle trails off, then the Shadow continues. "The tap is in place, Oracle. You should be able to get into their CCTV network now."

Oracle has posed:
<<Copy that Kestrel.>> Oracle states and resumes her spike of the CCTV camera feeds once Shadow has planted the remote tap on the junction box. Feeds pop up on her laptop screen and she quickly shifts through them to feed tactical data back to the pair of Birds down in the field. <<Aside from our welcome party out on the lawn, there are another six guests inside. All of them armed with a loose fan patrol pattern along a pallets pushed off to the corners of the interior. I count seven active lights hanging and another five on emergency circuits which I can likely take control of.>> More shifting, eyes darting back and forth across the various screens.

<<Another target on the phone. Let me see if I can trace the signal. I can give you a thirteen second operational window on the outside targets while I attempt to hijack that call. Get into position to neutralize the three exterior guards on my mark.>> She waits for the pair to get into position via their onboard cameras and her drones watching from above.

<<Mark.>>

Carrie Kelley has posed:
The slight shift of shadow had become familiar enough for Kestrel to spot when it occurs. It was like a weird wave from The Shadow herself. Oracle's mark however is what garners the majority of her attention for the moment. She moves along the side of the building to circle for one of the guards, easily falling in step behind him. Then she moves quickly, latching an arm around his neck while her leg sweeps between his to throw him off balance. There's a small struggle as she drags him back into the shadows, but she manages to keep him from dropping or firing the gun until her choke hold causes him to pass out. Quickly zip-tied behind a dumpster, she's free to move on again.

Shadow has posed:
"Acknowledged," the Shadow replies, then falls silent. For a few seconds there is no further movement, but then just after the remaining two guards pass each other a blurry foot lashes out into the back of a knee, causing one of them to topple off-balance just long enough for a hand to slam their head unceremoniously against the wall. The other goon has barely enough time to turn around at the sound when the Shadow blurs into visibility, already seizing their gun hand and moving into a lightning-fast throw that lands him headfirst into a support strut.

"All targets down. We're ready to move in."

Oracle has posed:
<<Confirmed.>> Oracle mirrors Shadow and looks to one of the other images on her laptop screen, <<Still working on the cellphone signal.>> Stated to keep the team up to date on her own progress while going through the patrol patterns, loose as they may be. <<Three guards near the north East Wall chatting.>> One of her drones pilots down closer to the exterior wall to use a directional mic connect to its underside to listen in on whatever conversation is taking place between them.

<<Another near the stacks of creates beneath the window near Kestrels position. I still have no clear line on what they are keeping inside, but it appears whoever is incharge here has displeased the boss. Shadow, there is a pair of guards moving in a linear patrol across the center of the warehouse. You will have three seconds on the first pass where the one nearest the entrance wall is in the dark and just barely out of camera coverage.>>

Carrie Kelley has posed:
<Got it. I'll try to get a closer view without alerting the guard.> Kestrel glances up toward the window higher on the wall. Warehouses almost always put them up high to discourage theft while allowing for ventilation and light to enter. It wasn't that hard for her to get up there though. Withdrawing her grapple gun she fires off a silent shot to latch onto the rooftop, and hoist herself up on the zipline. The edge of the window is grasped allowing her to peer inside just at the corner rather than block the entire thing all of a sudden. There was no need to do that. She could get inside when needed easily enough. For now she just lets her eyes slowly scan from one side to the other to allow for the cameras on her mask to do their thing and potentially give a view of the merchandise.

Shadow has posed:
"Understood. Kestrel, get to the rafters and into position. I'm moving in..."

It's easier than perhaps it should be. After all, people who are patrolling would be expected to pay more careful attention. But in a way, that makes such a mind easier to distract, especially when they already have so many worries. A flicker at the edge of their field of view, just a hint of noise, and they'll turn to look -- just long enough for a door to open a crack, and then silently close again....

The goon, having determined that there was nothing there, resumes his patrol, muttering to himself. "... Lousy job. Lousy night. Should be in bed, not jumping at shadows..."

"Indeed," comes the answer right behind his ear, and he has just enough time for realization to sink in before something hard impacts the side of his skull and he drops, unconscious...

"His partner will start missing him in about a minute at most. I'll kick off the show when he does..."
