We didn't start the fire..
Date of Scene: 18 March 2019
Location: Manhattan
Synopsis: Explosion at a high school! First responders under attack! Origami and Starfire destroy monsters attacking the school from within!
Cast of Characters: Origami, Starfire

Origami has posed:
Eleanor Roosevelt High School is a good, small school in Manhattan, an inoffensive brick building that nobody thinks anything much of. Up until a few minutes ago, when an explosion from one of the upstairs labs blew out the windows and started the inside of the building on fire. Thankfully, it's a weekend.

Fire engines are already arriving on scene. A ladder is raised to the flaming room. From inside the building, a gush of goop shoots and coats the ladder, which lights on fire, followed by a scream of "HELLO, I'M HAVING A GOOD DAY!" in a distorted voice.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r got an alert at Titans Tower. Everyone else was busy with other issues so Starfire goes to investigate. She didn't get summoned until the ladder was ignited by some goop and FDNY called for assistance. Starfire takes off - her hair leaving a crimson trail in the sky as she heads for the school - hovering in midair as she observes the situation, landing by the firefighters and asks for details.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore soars into sight on a giant paper plane the size of a car, looking like one you might throw across a middle school classroom. "Origami reporting, who has incident command?" She soars around and lands in front of the fire chief on scene next to Kori.

"We just got here ourself. The fire alarm went off, then there was an explosion, and now some people inside are throwing flammable chemicals at our men. We're not equipped to deal with this, so unless someone can clear out whoever is attacking, we're just going to spray the place down as best as we can."

Inside, more flaming goop rains down. "DID YOU GET YOUR HOMEWORK DONE?" "HOW ARE YOU TODAY?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r just glances at Origami, eyebrow raised. "We'll take care of it..." She pokes the airplane a bit. "You probably don't want to take this in there - if it's actually paper, it'll ignite." She then sighs as she flies straight up to stare into the window that's yelling like a deranged teacher and firing napalm, her eyes glowing bright green, ready to fire at anything strange that she sees.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore tilts her head, putting her firefighting helmet on. "I've worked with fires before." and picks up altitude, soaring around and slipping a sheet of paper into her fingers.

inside the lab, what looks like cartoonish renditions of the same student stumble around the room, some slowly filing out the door. "FIRE DRILL! YAY!"

One of the cartoon students slowly melts into a pile of goop, reforming into two even more distorted versions of the same boy and wandering around, leaving a burning pile of chemicals in the floor. "FIRE HOMEWORK THE YOU TODAY!"

Two students by the hole throw flaming goop at you. "WHAT'S FOR LUNCH TODAY?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r yelps as she dodges (but not in time - her arm got a bit singed) as she immediately fires starbolt-beams at the heads of the two students. She sighs as she lasers the stuff off. "We have... some kind of goo-monster that's taking the form of a child many times. It's like one of those movies Gar watches." She then leaves the window and finds another she can enter hte school through on the other side of the building.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods, "Goo monsters, copy." She flies after, dodging goo mostly because she's out of range, folding a piece of paper into a crane shape, which she tosses lightly in the air. The shape flutters, grows, caws, and flaps over to a window, which it wedges open before collapsing into a pile of wadded up paper. "After you?"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r blinks. "Interesting, "she murmurs as she enters the building, landing and taking cover. That goo burns even her as she zaps the rest of it off her arm - it was starting to sting. Her hands become engulfed with emerald light as she puts her finger to her lips as she listens for the 'boys'.

Origami has posed:
".. when is this class going to be over?" "did you finish your homework?" "drill yay lunch fire!" The voices make their way down the hall toward the stairway.

Miyako Moore tests the door for heat, then opens it and looks out into the hall. A goop student walks past. "WHAT'S FOR LUNCH?" and turns to go down the stairs.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r shakes her head. "What are we going to do? Those... things... can't leave this building. They'd burn the city down." She points at one of them as it was about to head down the stairs and fires a full-power starbolt - the radioactive munition hopefully will incinerate the thing altogether.

Origami has posed:
The goo student explodes into an exploding shower of smouldering, slowly burning goop!

"That works, but it's messy." Miyako Moore grabs a fire extinguisher, checks it briefly, and hoses down the remains with white powder. "Ugh, they need to turn these things more often." She sets the fire extinguisher down on the floor and winces, getting some more lotion to rub into the scarred devastation of her hands. "I think they're evacuating."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r sighs softly. "Well... that's the skillset I have. I can't touch them - so I use starbolts." She then heads down the stairwell and flings more starbolts at other gooboys and as soon asshe fires, hides before they explode. "We have to contain them here... oh - maybe we can figure out where they're from - probably the chemistry lab."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods, "That's where the explosion came from. It should be.. Around the corner and at the end of the hall." She moves ahead and pulls out a sheet of square paper. "I'll give you cover, you clear the hall, we'll move together." The sheet of paper grows huge, and she starts advancing, taking cover behind it.

More studentish appear, twisted and distorted monstrously, "DRILLWORK FIRE HAPPY!", running this way on uneven legs!

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods as she emits a pierching whistle to draw attention. She starts flinging starbolts from around the shield and ducks back behind it when they go to explode. "Well... this is a fun situation..." she mutters softly. "I pity the people who have to clean the school - but that's not in my job description." She barges into the cafeteria and just blasts all the slimes, ducking behind whatever's handy. "Is the ground floor clear?"

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore shakes her head. "No, they're probably stacking up behind whatever door they go out on a fire drill from the chem lab." She frowns. "Ooh, that could get really bad." She pulls out a piece of paper and folds it into a box, then adds more details, sticking a rolled up tube of paper on the end and throws it down. It grows into a small, Go-kart sized tank with pencil-scribbled armor plate pieces and a hatch on top. "Too bad the gun doesn't work, but hey, jump on!" She hops inside, peeks out the eye slits in front, and starts wheeling it forward, turning down the hallway. She pulls out the radio. "Origami here, you have an army of walking bombs behind the front door trying to evacuate, clear the area and contain, over!"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r bemusedly enters the tank with you, curious. "This paper of yours is quite amazing. You'd make a great Titan." She then smiles. "It's fine that the cannon doesn't work." She puts her eyes against the slit. "I'm a dead shot with my starbolts." She then waits for the tank to go in that direction, her eyes glowing bright green.

Origami has posed:
The tank races down the hallway. Up ahead, studentish make their way in an orderly line to a large gathering by a doorway, growing increasingly more monstrous at the back, spilling out into the hall ahead. One sees the tank, "GABLDSHH!" and gets a crazed, inhumanly huge smile on its eyeless face, loping forward and raising a hand as big as the rest of it to smash at the tank!

Miyako Moore nods, "That's great, because I can't do anything like that, just get cranes to peck at them. Here they come!"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods as she slices off that arm, using more narrow-beam stuff. "Okay... how durable is this thing?" she asks. "I might fire off a large blast - but then I'd need a moment to recover." She watches, hoping that the slime would be confused about its missing arm and it'd slow the assault as Starfire's body begins to glow brightly.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore mms, "It'll hold up, it's a tank. If it lights on fire it'll burn, but I can throw up a wall before it goes."

The studentish doesn't seem to notice the lost hand, flailing ineffectively in the direction of the tank as the hand melts into sludge. From which an even more warped tiny studentish appears. Some other studentish start hobbling, crawling, slithering, rolling toward the tank, gibbering insanely in a high pitched shriek.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r sighs softly as she murmurs, "I want you to duck for cover and cover the eye-slits. Otherwise you might get blinded or sunburnt. I suggest you move fast." She then flies upwards and whistles again and floats above the slimes. That green glow gets brighter, brighter... brighter...

A blinding green flare explodes from Starfire's body, washing down over the slimes and incinerating them all - and probably setting your tank on fire. It would last all of five seconds - then Starfire just drops like a marionette with her strings cut, managing to not land in burning goo as she just collapses there.

Origami has posed:
The tank sits there for a few seconds after the flare, slowly burning, before imploding into a crumpled up piece of paper and Miyako Moore, rushing up. Another sheet of paper is pulled out, folded accordion style, and tossed into the hall, growing into a partition complete with crayon red brick pattern to make sure nothing else interrupts for now.

"That was huge! Are you going to be okay?" Into the radio, "Origami here, doorway cleared, stand by, over."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r just looks up, bleary. "Can... you carry me to the sunlight? I... I'm tapped out..." She just looks exhausted as she tries to sit up but groans. "I... unloaded everyhting to stop them - had to take them all..." She then slowly sits up, sighing softly. "Sorry... kinda overdid it... I'm glad that tnak survived... if you were standing there, you might've had several burns from my nova..."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods and folds up a paper airplane, letting it slide under you as it grows and jumping aboard, then flies it out the now kind of melted front door into the sunlight. "Daylight coming up!"

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r sighs softly as her eyes flutter. "Better..." she murmurs. "Sorry about the mess, firemen," she calls as she was dropped off by the fire. "Some kind of chemistry experiment gone wrong created a bunch of... pyroclastic slime monsters. I had to basically nuke them to stop it... you might want to close the school and check Geiger meters - I might've overdid it a bit but they were getting really powerful."

Origami has posed:
The fire chief nods. "Good work, they left the lab upstairs a little after you went in. We have hoses working on the damage up there now. I'm just glad they didn't get out into the equipment, it's hard to work when we have to keep the ground clear." He calls out, "Front door is clear, get an engine up here!"

Miyako Moore looks you over, "Do you need me to get you up to altitude or anything? You look really tired, and I think the crews can handle things from here. Or I can probably make a sunflower that does UV."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r murmurs, "That sounds good. My kind relies on solar energy and... I basically blew my entire storage. Like... overloading a battery to get one final burst of power before it fails." She smiles. "I'll be fine in a few hours. The 'sunflower' will help... wait, is that a pun?" she finally asks.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore pulls out a piece of paper and starts folding it into an origami flower, paper folding itself at a touch. She sets it on the wing, where it roots, grows crayon-colored leaves, and starts glowing purple like a tanning booth lamp. "Okay! Going up!" She launches the plane into the air, soaring higher and higher until she gets up above the haze and low clouds, lining up on the sun.
