Cast of Characters: Dragon, Robin (Wayne)

Dragon has posed:
A brand new day, a brand new lesson to be learned! But what is the lesson?

Richard Dragon had been making Damian clean just about the entire morning so far. Until eventually, the grandmaster calls to him. "That's enough Damian, come and join me on the training mat."

Richard stands straight up, and he seems to be wearing black pants and a dark red chinese tunic, reminiscent of the more classical style of martial arts masters. His hands remain behind his back. He will simply wait for Damian to comply.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian had been obedient, if not a little vocal in being treated like a neophyte in the dojo. But he wasn't the twelve year old that gave no care to dishonor his sensei. So, even if he knew the grunt work was beneath him, he did it anyway.

The young man had been wearing gi pants and under armour, nothing like the battle armor his Robin and Red X uniforms were like. He put away the broom and such before approaching Richard Dragon. Bowing before the grandmaster. He may be headstrong and not seeing many as above him, but Dragon was one of those people.

Dragon has posed:
Richard Dragon never did anything without purpose.

He seems to have been fully knowing that Damian is no neophyte, but sometimes, to learn the most important lessons, one must return to walking, instead of continuing in a forward sprint.

Nevertheless, giving a bow to Damian in return as a show of mutual respect (despite Damian being FAR younger than him). "Now then, we will begin hand to hand combat. Do not hold back, young Damian. Hit me, if you can."

Dragon enters a very relaxed stance. It's almost...pretty. But the real question is: what lesson does he intend to teach Damian?

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian doesn't need to be told twice. A lesson learned the hard way in the League.

Damian knew mind games, and he knew this had to be one. Nevertheless, this was a chance to show what he had.

A moment is given to ready up, before Damian starts to strike, left, right, left, left, right, right. He didn't seem to favor any particular hand. The shorter term used a mix of arts, varying styles, from wing chun to northern Shaolin.

Dragon has posed:
Richard keeps his eyes ever on the heir of the bat. The young man moved swiftly, and Richard allowed no punches to be pulled. Yet, the Dragon does not strike. Instead, he extends a single arm, and expertly bats away most of Damian's offense with his arm. until finally, he'll reach out and attempt to strike Damian with a carefully timed palm strike right to the chest!

Richard says nothing regardless of if it hits or misses.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
The blows are batted away, none of them were less than his all, and to most combatants, they aren't batted away easily.

The single strike has Damian jump back, barely missing the palm by two millimeters. The teen landed on the floor, skidding to a stop.

His anger started to bubble up. He struck back with three hand strikes, following up with a backflip kick.

Dragon has posed:
Dragon sees the anger bubbling up in Damian's eyes, but he simply stands there, awaiting the retort. Soon enough, it comes, and Dragon blocks the strikes by simply redirecting them with a circular motion of his hands, with the wrists aiding in the actual deflection.

However, the Backflip kick is leaned away from, Damian's foot mere centimeters away from Dragon's face. "Stop - trying - to hit me, and hit me." Easier said than done, dude!

Richard now aims a sharp kick towards Damian's stomach after the boy lands, as if to try and knock the air out of him.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian knew his strikes were not easy to shrug off. And Dragon was making it seem like it was nothing. This did nothing to help his anger.

He had been focused on getting his next blows in, but this was an issue, as his stomach was getting a foot placed in it! The boy flexes his abdomen, alleviating and spreading the impact force instinctively, but he still heaved with air leaving his lungs.

A mere moment later, Damian steps back up, balling up his fists and striking back, one after the other, finishing with an attempted knee stomp. He was going for power over finesse now, solid strikes from forward stance.

Dragon has posed:
Richard looks upon Damian as the boy knew exactly how to take a hit so as to both minimize damage and control his breathing. "Well done." is all Richard says as he watches Damian pop back up to his feet. But then looks back to full-blown deadpan when Damian rushes back at him!

A lesson was going to be learned.

"Anger is a weakness only to be used by your enemy."

Richard says then as he dodges a few strikes, though one strike -does- find purchase...it's just blocked. Though now, Richard is done playing around. He seeks to prove his point. He catches Damian's knee with his palm, and will tug at it, perhaps causing Damian to lose his balance and fall? One can only hope.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian has taken many hits over his life. This one was no different really, but the one hit that was blocked made him smirk, enough that his swift grab to the knee was enough to lay him down. Of course, Damian raised his head, allowing his back to take the brunt of landing.

Damian can feel his blood pressure rising, and since this was training, Damian stays down, slamming his fist down with frustration. ">TT<" Is all he lets out of his mouth, a showing of his frustration.

Dragon has posed:
Richard then stands right back up to his feet, a few steps back before his hands clasp back behind his waist. "Tell me, what is the lesson to be learned? Do you know?" Richard asks Damian. "How did I beat you, young Damian?" Usually the answers fall into Richard being stronger, faster, and more skilled. Or any combination of the three with other factors.

What would Damian's answer be?

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian's fist clenches to the point where his knuckles are white. He isn't happy at all.

"You won because you kept an even keel." He knew the answer full well, he just did not like it. The League made him harness his rage, but they never would have taught him to quell it. It was the exact opposite of what he had been taught to do.

Dragon has posed:
"Indeed. Because I was able to keep my emotions well-balanced, I was able to outthink and outperform you." Richard approaches, but does not offer to help him. "Anger is not a strength as you have been led to believe, Damian. In fact, it is your greatest weakness. Rage gives you strength to your blows, yes, but it dulls the mind. It eliminates your reason. That being said, if you seek redemption, if you seek to be better than what you are...then that is the first step." Richard then sits cross-legged. "That being said, you were trained well, aside from that."

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian's green eyes just stare blankly at the ceiling. "It is easier said than done." He reflects on all he had accomplished, every task he'd been given and completed dutifully for his mother, and those of his father. "Is it so easy to throw away years of doctrine, and instinct...and conditioning." Brainwashing more like it.

"Of course I was trained well. Only the best for the heir of the Demon." He huffs, feeling stripped of all his identities.

Dragon has posed:
Richard Dragon only nods, his hands rested on his knees as he looks upon the young Damian. "Indeed. They wished to make you a weapon, and for a long time, they succeeded. However, they failed to remember that you are human." Richard smiles.

"How often we are that which others don't wish for us to be." Richard smiles gently to Damian. "Now then, sit up. Don't weep for the past, or you will be crying all day." he can tell Damian is still wrestling with his inner demons (literally and figuratively). "In many ways, it is not. Habits are hard to break. Mindsets even harder. Ideals hardest of all."

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian sits up, legs crossed in front of himself. "I tried to let him in. He asked me to. Everything that he would deem bad that I did since coming to Gotham, I let him know. Things from two years ago. Then he took my name away." Damian offers in, Bruce was just the start of things he had to get off his chest.

Dragon has posed:
Richard looks at Damian and he seems to sigh.

"Your father has always been....a man who sees the world in black and white. No compassion and remorse, and most of all, no compramise. He has always been slow to forgive and even slower to accept. Even when I trained him, he learned the physical, but not the knowledge and possible wisdom I tried to impart to him. In short, his heart is filled with hate."

Richard looks Damian in the eyes then. It was up for him to interpret his words.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian listens to the words on his father. Of course, he looked much like Bruce at his age, save for the al Ghul family eyes.

"I wanted to be his son. I saw what he did in Gotham, and became entranced by his crusade. Similar to the League but..." He remembers specifically the incident that brought him Goliath. All the dead batdragons, and atop the bodies was Damian, his white League garb stained red with so much blood. All in the name of Damian al Ghul and the glory of the Demon. "Vastly different."
