Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Phoenix, Wolverine, Black Widow (Romanoff)

Phoenix has posed:
With Natasha running a bit later than scheduled, Jean was unable to wait, and had to move on to another meeting, which lead to another emergency, and long story short, life as the Headmistress of Xavier's can be a tad busier and very much riskier than the life of a member of the X-Men. True story. So by the time Natasha arrives at the Mansion, Jean has become preoccupied with something else, and then another, and eventually it delays the whole affair further.

But sooner, rather than later, Logan's nose would prove the better of all schedules, as he'll be able to take Natasha to the Staff Meeting Hall, where Jean Grey had just concluded a short impromptu meeting in regards to a troublemaker who refuses to listen to faculty members. Another crisis averted.

When Logan steps into the room in the company of Natasha, Jean looks up smacks her forehead, "Natasha! I'm so sorry...I tried to wait, but then my attention was needed, and one thing lead to another, I forgot to come back...welcome to Xavier's, I trust Logan already seen you to some refreshments?" She extends her hand, "Jean Grey," and with the introduction made, she grins at Logan, "it's good to see you too, Logan."

Wolverine has posed:
Logan's arrival was heralded by a short double rapping of the knuckles on the door even though it was partially open. "Hey hey. Found ya." He slips into the room pushing the door a little wider and then steps to the side a bit to let Black Widow stroll through after him. He'll take up a place nearby, leaning against one of the tables with one hip, arms folding over his chest.
"Good to see you too, Jean." For some reason the Canadian mutant looks a touch uncomfortable as he rubs at the bridge of his nose and he eyes Nat for a moment, then looks back at the other redhead.
"Figured should get the ok. Thought it'd be already ta give Widow the security okay. Liaison with the Avengers." He lifts a hand to the back of his neck, "And all,"
"But I've known her for years, I'd vouch for her. Just wanted things ta be all official."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As Natasha enters, she's dressed in jeans and a button up green blouse. Black boots on her feet. She has slipped off the heavy leather jacket she was wearing against the cold outside and is carrying it slung over an arm. Her red hair has been cut particularly short, almost a boyish style, but it fits her and shows off her bone structure well.
"Good to see you. I'm sorry I was late in the first place. Avengers business. Or Shield. Maybe a little of both. Hatemonger was doing his hate thing and we had to take him into custody," she explains. Not like it won't be in the arrest files tomorrow in the news, if someone took the time to look online.
"I know that your students are your greatest priority and having someone like me around can sometimes cause disconfort. Logan and I agreed that I should be sure it won't be a problem that I may be around a bit. Somewhat often, potentially," she adds.

Phoenix has posed:
"Yes, contrary to rumors, I don't have any secret passages that allow me quiet escapes," Jean says with a laugh, "please, have a seat," Jean gestures at the staff meeting table, as she sits down herself, at the edge of the table so all three of them can be close by.

Jean is dressed in a rather officious manner, a skirt suit, all professional like with minor touches of accessories, hinting today was a day for more boring meetings with board of education officials. "It's all good, Natasha, I know the Avengers have just as busy a schedule, and if I dare say, I'd imagine the Avengers are not your only time slot filler?" Natasha answers as much with the mentioning of SHIELD. "Certainly sounds like you had your hands full."

"I appreciate the willingness of the Avengers to work with the X-Men," Jean notes to Natasha, "I think it did us both good with the last two threats we co-teamed on, so you truly don't need to explain to me the need for you to have full clearance at Xavier's. But the students," Jean nods, tapping her fingernails on the table, looking aside at Logan, and back at Natasha, "you're good to undercover, right? Care to be an inspector from the board of education while around the school? I think that should stop anyone asking why you're around, or going about different offices as you may need?"

Wolverine has posed:
"That uh." Logan shifts a bit against the desk and looks sidelong towards Natasha, then back towards Jean. He shifts his weight a bit, crossing one boot over the other as he seems to try and come up with the right word choice. But when he glances over at Nat he just sees her smirking a bit and he exhales a small chuff, shaking his head and smiling ruefully as he looks away.
"That might not entirely work. Like. Hey. I mean it would normally. But thing is..." He gestures with one rough hand in Widow's direction, "We're sorta dating?" His tone tilts upwards at the end there as he asks that question, shooting another glance back at Natasha.
He shrugs then and looks back to Jean. "So, this is sorta official in a way. Since she can still fill the role. But like... yeah."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
For some people, happiness comes from giving joy to others. For giving and helping. For putting their lives on the line to protect people. Any number of things.
In this instant, the thing that brings her the greatest joy in the world is seeing a man who is one hundred plus years old acting nervous as a school boy talking to the Headmistress. She's lived a long time (not as long as him!) so when something surprises and amuses her, it is something she will remember for a lnng time. Potentially, a very long time.
She isn't nearly as uncomfortable as Logan as she glances to Jean. "Therein being the problem. Good news, bad news, I guess is fitting for it. Of course I'd be glad to serve as liaison to the Avengers and SHIELD for that matter, but this was more on a personal level. Should I want to stay here at the mansion from time to time. Or be around potentially in a social setting. I would do my best to keep my contact with your students to a minimum but I think you can see that I'd rather not be undercover for this one."
She gives Logan a quick look that says he better not make a joke out of that either. She will hurt him.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean looks from Natasha to Logan, arching brows with keen interest at the very unlikely sight of a somewhat flustered Logan. He's so very lucky she's unlike the Emma Frost school of telepaths, and fully respects his privacy, because this is outright juicy. "Is that so...?" She muses, though there's a clear mirth in her green eyes as she teases by not making a quick follow up. "Lonewolf Logan. Dating." She speaks the words one after the other, as if checking if two different puzzle pieces would form a match.

Jean stops drumming her fingernails on the desk, and turns her eyes to Natasha, a big grin on her visage. While she's unaware because she respects Natasha's privacy much like she does Logan's, it seems both Jean and Natasha will remember that. "I've been told you're a special woman, Natasha, mind you I never seen a dossier of yours, but I know some Avengers, and Carol Danvers used to be our pilot...but I had no idea how special." She gets up from her seat and walks towards Natasha, not asking her for permission, as she leans in to hug her, "I'm sorry, but this practically makes you family, give me a hug, Natasha."

Wolverine has posed:
One can almost feel the embarrassment rolling off of Logan, the discomfort. He gives a low growl of a sound as if /soooo/ put out by Jean giving him that look and then pronouncing the oh so judgmental sentence. His shoulders hunch a bit as he looks away with such pain evident by his crinkling nose.
It's bad, but not as bad as Kitty and Rogue are probably going to be when they go to dinner.
When Jean goes in for the hug he might catch that brief look of raised eyebrows and trepidation that he can catch just from how Nat's body language freezes. But the Canadian mutant smirks and tells her, "Best get used to it, Romanoff. S'how things function around here." What with that whole /family/ thing they got going on.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Natasha is much more relaxed, taking in Jean's reaction with a bright smile and an attempt not to chuckle over his discomfort. It's just so silly. His nervousness is hilarious. The more he grumps, the more she wants to just laugh outright.
Until Jean gets up and moves toward her. Then the humor is gone. She doesn't tense visibly but inside, she's ready to leap out of the way. Then Jean is leaning in while announcing her intentions.
Nat's widened eyes seek out Logan, not used to this at all. Family isn't a thing she really had. She had training and teachers and things that were not so pleasant. Ivan had been a brief moment of light for her but she had lost him long ago. She kept people at a distance. In short...

    Natasha is not a hugger.

That doesn't seem to matter though. Nat is drawn into the hug and gives it back with a firm squeeze. "Thank you. I..."
Then Logan's words hit her and she looks from him to Jean. "Wait, they all are huggers? Maybe I won't spend much time here after all."

Phoenix has posed:
Logan at least has been an X-Men for a long time, he knows everyone, he can read all the tells, and he knows that even him. Mr. Gruff n' Tough, can't get away from a Jean hug when it's incoming. Some things you just have to learn to accept. But Natasha is as of yet unfamiliar with it, though she's in the process of getting introduced to it fast. Maybe Jean should be more cautious about embracing strangers with such ease, with such warmth, but she can't help herself. Particularly when Logan is brining a girlfriend home. "I can't tell you how happy I am to hear this news," Jean confesses to Natasha, as she forces her to suffer that affectionate embrace for longer than Natasha would like. But she does, eventually let go, now moving to sit on the desk rather than get back in her seat, this was no longer an official meeting, this was family casual.

"Okay...you're right, that cover wouldn't work at all." Jean admits, looking between Logan and Natasha, as she states, "so you've two options, I could add Natasha on the faculty roster as a teacher or advisor for something like, say security systems? Hacking? Or...you could be forthright and admit you have a girlfriend that will sometime be visiting. Choice is yours..."

Wolverine has posed:
"Ehn," Logan says as he holds his ground, looking at the two redheads now and crinkling his nose. He tightens his arms over his chest as he murmurs, "I'll get around the school soon enough n'all. But in all honesty we do need a liaison with the Avengers. And Tasha can bring a lot of good for folks training-wise."
He shoots a look over at Widow and he smirks, "I mean, since I figure she'll be around often enough, eatin' our food. Only right she should earn her keep somehow." He uncurls a hand, "I'd been thinkin' might be amusing for some of the sproglings running around doing their Danger Room training and then outta nowhere, Bam. Black Widow."
He shoots a look over at Nat as he so casually volunteers her for that duty. "But whatever you think'll be best, Jeanie."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"I'm fine with whatever is best for you and the school. As I said from the beginning, I don't want to be a disruption. I know I will be seen and I an recognizable these days, thanks to the Avengers." Ah for the good old days when she would hide in plain sight and was able to actually do undercover work. It wasn't as simple these days. Technology such as disguise mesh became required. Just always more complicated.
"I'd be glad to help train your recruits. Might be a surprise for them to face someone like me instead of someone like him." She bobs her head in Logan's direction. "Wait? What level do you train them at?" She has a tendency to leave a lot of bodies in her wake in the training room at SHIELD so she needs to be sure what they are talking about before she goes wailing on the kiddies.

Phoenix has posed:
"Yes...I absolutely see how it's necessary, and I'd love to have Natasha over as liason on behalf of the Avengers, with the X-Men," Jean agrees with Logan, before quipping at Natasha, "and I do hope that at least on one of those occasions you're over, you'll have some time for some girl talk? Because you getting Logan to date? I need that story." Yeah, because Natasha absolutely looks like the kind of woman that partakes in 'girl talk' as it were.

"But it's not the X-Men we'll need Natasha to have cover against, it's the students," Jean reminds Logan, as if he didn't already have that in mind. To Jean's credit, she manages not to burst in laughter when Logan suggests a Black Widow surprise on unsuspecting arrogant teens in training, because calm and contemplating as she looks, she'd want that recorded for repeat viewing.

"That's actually not a bad idea," Jean nods as Natasha adds her two cents, "I can put you as Special P.E., since regular students don't know about the sublevels and the Danger Room, obviously, but New Mutants designated students, I'm sure they'll appreciate being shown they can't keep up with a woman," Jean winks playfully at Natasha, clearly having some of the more macho teen types in mind when she said that last line. She even responds to Natasha's humorous question -- at least she hopes hurmours -- non-chalantly, as she notes, "well, according to the Board of Education Regulations, the number of student bodies should be...erm...zero. The number of severe injuries or loss of limbs, erm...also zero, I'd say go easy on them, and see who can even handle more to start with..." now she extends a hand again, "welcome on board, Natasha."

Wolverine has posed:
There, with that having been done, Logan pushes himself up to his feet and breathes what might in other folks be a sign of relief, but for him it's more a low grumbly growl. "A'right. That's taken care of."
He steps to the side and towards the door, grabbing the knob and pulling it open, though he turns and stands there, waiting for Natasha. "Oh, by the bye, we were gonna go grab some grub. Kitty and Rogue were gonna come along. Yer welcome ta join if ya want, if yer not too busy."
He takes a moment to glance out the door, then looks back to the two of them. "Nothing fancy, just the steak joint down the way."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Thank you. I appreciate your trust and I'll be glad to help however possible. And on some of my visits, I'd be glad to spend some time and talk," Natasha agrees to the suggestion by Jean. She very specifically does not say 'girl talk' because just no. When Logan points out the dinner plans, she has to smile as she looks over to Jean.
"Not only dating by trying to teach him a few social graces such as being polite and asking others to join for socialization. It's going to be an upward battle, I think."
She moves to the door that is being held open, draping her jacket back over her arm on the way.

Phoenix has posed:
"Ooooh, count me in! Count me in! Count me in!" Jean is all eager at the offer of taking a break to grab some grub, was it because she needed a break desperately? Nahhh...it's just catching up with friends, getting to know Natasha better (fat chance), and nothing at all to do with the pile of folders she casually pushes to the other end of the table for later. "That's a great idea, Logan, I'm tagging along."

Jean also looks satisfied with Nat's reply, because she's eager for that talk, even if she noticed how Nat strategically dropped the 'girl' out and left only the 'talk' in. That's fine, so, clearly Nat never was a part time model. Some of their lingo might be a bit different, but it doesn't matter, because Jean is happy for them and oh so very excited. "I know this guy, it'll be the most remarkable achievement of your career if you manage it," Jean laughs, and adds, "I'll show you around later on, assuming Logan or Scott won't beat me to it. Kitty is another one you could easily go to for information, she's amazing, smart, and exceptional in every way."
