Cast of Characters: Shadowcat, Carrie Kelley

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty arranged with Carrie to meet with her in the city to show her the room she got. The pair met outside of 177a Bleecker Street. The house is WAY beyond any of the apartments that the pair had looked at for Kitty together. As they walk up to the front door, Kitty says, "So, my friend used to live here. And we visited because I was looking for something to help Jason for the trip we're going to be making. And, my friend used to live here for a while. And her room was still free, so the owner offered it to me. In exchange for helping sort some of his tomes and books, and digitize any that are in bad shape," Kitty says. She pauses as they reach the door, hoping that the blood and battle damage are cleaned up by now.

Kitty opens the door. The blood is gone from the floors, though there might be some odd marks on the walls still, though they might not stand out with so many other things to look at.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley stares for the longest moment at the building itself. It sat situated among the others like something out of place. As if it were just... Stuck there as an afterthought by someone who didn't really seem to care about making any of it match. At least that's how it seemed to her. "This looks like something out of a theater set meant to catch attention, but... not." Her head tilts a bit as she moves forward following Kitty inside. A slow nod is given even as her eyes rake over the impressive entrance with eyebrows arching.

"How well does your friend know this guy? I mean, not that I'm really one to throw stones or anything. I hang out with a rich guy that has too much money for his own good too. Tomes though?" Kitty is given a skeptical look. "This isn't some secret society thing I hope."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty lets out a soft laugh at the mention of a secret society. "It... really kind of is," Kitty says. "This is the home of Doctor Stephen Strange. The Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. One of the Avengers. A real honest-to-god wizard," she tells Carrie. "He's loaning me a magic gauntlet to help Jason fight some bad guys. The ones who attacked Jason when he was with Tim and I," Kitty says.

She motions towards the stairs. "My room's upstairs. There's all sorts of... I don't even know what. Cool things. In the museum. And my room is magic as well. Wait until you see it," Kitty says with a grin. "But, he's an Avenger, I mean, can't really ask for a better resume, right?"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"Oh!" That changed a lot. The look Carrie fixes around the room now has gone from suspicious to plain out cautious. It was still a lot to admire regardless. A little smile of relief creeps over her as she looks back toward Kitty when she leads to the stairs up. "I think I've heard of him then. I got to visit the Avenger Mansion a few times with She-Hulk, and Tony Stark, but that was almost a year ago now. I do feel better knowing that though. I mean..." A rolling shrug comes. "At least it's not some total weirdo. Just our type of weirdo."

"I feel like such an amatuer lately, but I guess I am."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde reaches over and gives Carrie's hand a squeeze. "I've been in this life since I was 13," Kitty tells Carrie quietly. "Which, I wouldn't really wish on anyone. Believe me, I'd envy you the sense of normalcy you got to grow up with before," Kitty says, squeezing Carrie's hand again. "I feel kind of sorry for Damian in that regard. Though with his family, I suppose there isn't much that can be done to keep him back from it too long, is there?"

Kitty pauses upstairs, letting Carrie look at the various items. Though she'd quickly caution against actually touching any of them. "I have no clue what most of them do. I do hope to learn in time though," Kitty says as she looks over the collection.

Whenever Carrie is ready to move on then, Kitty leads the way to her room. They stop outside of the door and she asks Carrie, "imagine the most beautiful room you could ever imagine living in."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"Yeah, Damian is someone I feel bad for. He never really got to choose his life. It was just pushed on him." Carrie smiles back at Kitty giving the hand a squeeze thankfully. "I at least got to choose it. I feel good for that. I just don't want to be a burden to others, either." The thought is brushed aside with a shake of her head as her green eyes flit over the various artifacts here. "Oh, no worries about me touching them. I've seen enough horror movies where that sort of thing ends poorly," she points out with a quick laugh.

The arrival at the guest room door has her pausing again though considering the request. "Most beautiful? That's a toughie." Still. It was enough of a temptation that she closes her eyes while taking a deep breath. Hammock chairs. Soft, plush carpets beneath the feet. Maybe stained glass windows letting in the sunlight. Book cases. She tries to fill her mind with everything she could consider comfortable, cozy, and relaxing. There was enough stress in her life after all.

Cracking an eye open she looks to Kitty again, "I think that's about all I can do."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles to Carrie as the redhead finishes picturing the perfect room. Kitty swings the door open, and Carrie finds the room exactly meets what she had in mind. Kitty grins and says, "You think up a nice room, Carrie." She smiles and waves her friend inside as Kitty steps into the room herself.

"It can change to be whatever we want it to. This. A little open-air bungalow beside a beach. Dumbledore's office. A suit at the Tropicana. My childhood bedroom in Deerfield. Anything we wanted," Kitty says with a warm laugh. "Want a hot tub? Just step back out, will it, and come back in," Kitty says, laughing.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"Holy..." Carrie looks around with a growing grin at the apparent room she created. There were little differences, it seemed, maybe embellishments on her own thoughts. Otherwise it was almost exactly what she wanted. Only better. "This is amazing! You've got the best 'spare room' ever, you realize that, right? And don't tempt me on the hot tub," she adds with a wink toward the brunette. "You might never get rid of me."

Strolling further into the room she pushes a hand down on one of the cushioned hammock chairs testing it before settling her weight down with a sigh of contentment. "If I had a room like this and someone to cuddle up in it with I'd be set. You brought Jason here yet?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde grins and goes over to take one of the chairs for herself. "Not yet. I'm looking forward to it though. I can only imagine the things that we'll come up with together," Kitty says, laughing warmly. "Though... for me it'll probably be something like a mountain ski lodge sort of feel to it? Wood. Fireplace. Thick rugs. A nice view of a mountain, but the window all frosty looking around the edges."

Kitty grins over to Carrie. "Though it's probably mostly going to be where I sleep at night before work the next day. I'll be in Gotham to see Jason. And I'm going to be training with Mr. Wayne," she says.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley smiles warmly at the very thought of such a cozy place. "That sounds awesome for cuddling," she has to agree as her feet kick off to set her little hammock chair gently swinging. "Mm. That's really lucky. I haven't even trained with him yet. He's offered advice on things, but mostly pushed me off on Nightwing. Which has it's own issues," she mumbles glancing aside with a hint of a blush. "Though he does try to look out for me and worries. He worries a lot more than he lets on."

"We should start training together, too, at some point. I bet I could pick up a bunch."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde relaxes in the hammock chair. "He handled my knowing pretty well," Kitty says. "I imagine it helps that I've been at this for so long, a little more willing probably to trust maybe?" She rolls onto her side. "He let me pick who to train with. I thought of training with Jason. But... you know, to train someone you have to be hard with them. And... Jason doesn't need to be harder. I don't want to put him through that. I know he could do it, but I don't want him to have to," Kitty says.

She looks over and says, "I think Dick should totally ask you out, by the way. But what do I know?"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley considers that with a small nod. "No, Jason's had enough hard in his life. Even I can tell that." The mention of Dick however earns a little groan from her as she grins sheepishly, and covers her face with a hand. "Yeah, if he wasn't already dating someone. She's a freaking huge Amazon, too. I'd get so smooshed." Lightly sighing her hand drops away with a shake of her head. "It's okay. I never really thought much about dating, to be honest. I guess just seeing you and Jason together is making me realize I might like to try to find something, too. At some point."

"Speaking of Jason..." Carrie's lips purse together in a tight line. "You're going to help him of course. Do you have any idea what you guys are up against though? Who came after him? I'll be working to cover Gotham while he's gone along with anyone else, but just in case I run into some of them it'd be good to have what information I can."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's lips turn into a small frown, but not directed at Carrie. "You're old ancient evil sort of thing," Kitty says. "Can turn into smoke to disappear. She reached inside of Jason's chest and grabbed hold of his lung. Copper can harm them. Though it has to be like real copper, not heavily processed. Or, probably some form of magic. I used to have a magic sword that was bound to my soul. But not anymore and I doubt I could borrow it from the one who has it. So, that's when I asked a friend if they knew anywhere I could get something to help me deal with a magic creature." Kitty motions back towards the Sanctum Santorum. "Which lead me to here. My friend I asked, she's a former Avenger. Rogue. Jason's met her once, before he knew I was a mutant."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley considers all of this with a slow nod or two as it's taken in. Magic really wasn't her speciality. "I'll see if I can incorporate some copper into my gloves, or weapons for a short time just in case. I can't really do much otherwise, but it's a start. If copper stops or hurts them then maybe some in a mesh suit lining would help keep the whole," her hands lift making vague, wavey gestures. "Shadowy Kali-Ma thing isn't going to happen."

Shadowcat has posed:
"She wasn't aiming at Gotham so much as at Jason specifically, I think," Kitty tells Carrie. "So, probably good to take the precautions. But unless you're viewed as a guardian of what they are after? I don't know that they would target you," Kitty says. "Didn't really seem to care much about Tim or myself, other than that we got in the way."

She lets out a soft sigh. "This stuff never stops happening though, Carrie. Not in my life anyway. You just kind of get used to having to deal with it sooner or later," Kitty says, sighing again. "Enjoy the moments that you can in between."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley tips her hammock chair toward Kitty's to reach out and pat the girl's knee. It's breif because it swings back the other way as well earning a chuckle from her. "I am. I'm glad I met you Kitty. Really, it's good to have a friend that can understand this stuff. Plus you're just awesome anyway," she adds with a warm grin.
