A Kitty By Any Other Name
Date of Scene: 09 April 2019
Location: Red Hood's Cave - Gotham
Synopsis: Kitty, Carrie and Jason discuss hero names for Kitty in Gotham
Cast of Characters: Shadowcat, Red Hood, Carrie Kelley

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty finishes putting on the new unstable molecular suit she had made. Mostly black with a little bit of dark grey trim, and a domino mask shaped differently than the one she wears as Shadowcat. It's the outfit that she wore when Impulse was ambushed by Batman, so Carrie has seen it before.

Kitty walks out, the costume snugging her body as closely as super heroine outfits always do. "So what do you think of it?" Kitty asks as she moves over towards where Jason is at. "I should probably come up with a name for using in Gotham. Not that I'm widely known as Shadowcat. We keep our names out of the public eye. But, still, it'd be safest. People make connections and then figure out other identities, if we overlook details like this. Any thoughts on a name?" she asks Jason.

Red Hood has posed:
"...I'm supposed to let you out in public like that?" Jason asks in more than a little amusement - "Unzip it a little and Catwoman might get envious." He's clearly teasing his girlfriend and her little fashion show. "I'm more for armor, but I know you don't need it.. for reasons." he shrugs his shoulders as he takes a sip from his beer, considering her as he frowns.

"A name, huh." he responds, looking thoughtful. "Well, I don't know if you noticed, but it's all bird or Bat theme'd around here."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"Not completely," Carrie pipes up as she reaches into a bowl of popcorn to pull out a handfull. Lightly nibbling on a few buttered peices she regards Kitty in the outfit thoughtfully. "There's The Shadow, then Oracle. Not all birds and bats. A name is a tough one though. I'd suggest something like 'Phaser' but that's kind of telling what your powers are right off the bat." Pausing she adds, "Sounds cool though."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde laughs at Jason's comment and she says, "I don't need the bad guys oggling me any more than need be." She walks over to get a few pieces of popcorn and then pats the costume. "It is body armor. The unstable molecules adapt to conditions. Thermal insulation when needed. Or extra breathable in hot climates. And also it has a good measure of protection," she says. "It just isn't inflexible in providing it."

Kitty tosses a piece of popcorn into the air, catching it in her mouth. "Hmm. Well, I thought maybe Vague. Or Ether. Or Dark Ether? If I went birds... maybe Black Bird?" she suggests. Kitty nods to Carrie, saying, "I don't want to point out my ability. Both, limit connections to those who might know of me, and also not revealing anything to an enemy who doesn't know me yet."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley grins a bit at Kitty while letting her gaze roam over the suit. "Dang. I need to get me something made out of that. This is..." She glances down at herself with a little shake of her head. "It really very protective without getting bulky to be so. Still. Name for you." Another popcorn is chomped on as she leans back to relax on the couch kicking her legs out with a stretch. "Hmm. Ether isn't bad. Black Bird... I don't think there's anyone using that name already so that would work too."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde moves over to take a seat by Carrie, while Jason goes off to check on something causing the computer's notification to buzz for attention. "It's too bad there's this time and energy being wasted on that Impulse guy," Kitty says, giving a shake of her head. "By the way, sorry I couldn't have you up to the school. You know how they get after all the school shootings and stuff. Real cautious about having people on campus and all. Was good to see you though," she says, reaching over to squeeze Carrie's shoulder.

"How is everything else going? Training going well? And what about school?" Kitty asks as she gets a few more kernels of popcorn to nibble on.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley makes a little 'ftt' noise at mention of going up to the school, along with a little dismissive shake of her head as she flashes Kitty a reassuring grin. "Nah, it's fine. I kind of figured a place like that would have security anyway. Just thought I'd get an intercom buzzer or something instead of actually running into anyone." The questions about the rest of her stuff earns a shrug.

"Finished a production recently that got some good reviews. Currently it's Spring Break so...." Her hand lifts to gesture around. "I'm here instead of having any sort of life. Which isn't much different than usual I admit. Training is..." Her hand wobbles. "Slacking. Nightwing has been so distracted lately with his girlfriend, and the Damian thing, and everything. Other than that, there's not much going on for me."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty removes her domino mask, though after a moment's thought she puts it back on. If she's going to be in the costume she should be in the costume. Never know who else might walk in that she isn't aware of. "So the woman who was jogging, Anna-Marie? One of my closest friends. We roomed together when we were both students," Kitty says. "So really glad you got to meet her. She was the one who loaned me the dress and car. Well, gave me the dress, but. And, if you didn't recognize her? She used to be an Avenger," Kitty says. "Really bad ass. But don't touch her skin. It'll knock you out, literally."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley grins with amusement as she listens to Kitty explain who Rogue was with a slow nod. "I figured out who she was given you talk about her *all* the time, Kitty. She seems really nice." Mention of being an Avenger earns a faint hum of thought. "I might have come across some pictures of her once or twice, but I hadn't thought about it. I was redoing their website at one point." Though Stark got flighty due to, well, stuff. She couldn't blame him. "I'll definitely keep that in mind though. There's enough out there that'll knock me out, I don't need to walk right into it."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Yes, she's pretty bad-ass," Kitty says with a grin. "I wouldn't normally mention her identity but it's public knowledge and all. And don't worry, I don't reveal anything about you guys to her or anyone else. I mean, you're just friends as far as anyone is concerned," Kitty says.

"Working for Stark is definitely interesting," Kitty says with a chuckle. "Working on some interesting projects. Don't really run into Mr. Stark directly though," she says. "Still haven't met him, actually."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"I didn't think you would, but thanks for the assurance. I'm still kind of new to this whole thing compared to you guys," Carrie has to admit with a shake of her head. "I mean... I don't think anyone would really recognize me. I'm not famous or anything. But I guess I should be careful to make sure no one goes after my parents. I guess." There's a little frown there as she crinkles her nose.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods her head. "Or sues you for damages somewhere. Or, puts you in jail. A lot of super hero stuff isn't legal unless you're authorized like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. Or Superman," Kitty says. "Also have to be kind of careful talking about people who you know are heroes when around people who don't know their identities. It can be a big pain, and you can easily paint yourself in a corner. I have done it before despite being cautious," she says with a sigh.
