Cast of Characters: Saint Walker, Kinsey MacKenna, Green Lantern (Jordan)

Saint Walker has posed:
OOC: Takes place before War of Light Pt. 3

Earlier...

"Just think of home, think of where you want to go..." that had been Walker's instructions to Kinsey as they floated above Odym, putting her through the paces of her new ring.

Perhaps creating a wormhole home was a big step but with the information Hal had provided Walker, he knew there wasn't much time for... what was that Earth phrase, ah yes, 'training wheels', Kinsey's education would have to be learn as she went.

Now...

One wormhole opens and out flies Walker surrounded in his blue aura he turns as the portal closes with Earth looming large behind him. He waits for Kinsey to join him.

His people didn't cross fingers, but if they did, he'd be doing it right now.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
It's probably a good thing Kinsey didn't know his people didn't cross fingers, because much of what she had accomplished in life had been solely on hoping for the best and marching forward with confidence, if not in herself, then in the fact that things would work out as they would and move along accordingly. However, this whole idea of 'oh just make a wormhole in space..' seemed to her to be a rather large leap of faith to go on.

Of course Kibou rather patiently, and happily, supplied reassurances that it was not only possible, but one of the very many things that he was designed to do, and do well, and proceded to ask if she wished him to demonstrate.

"Well, I guess there's that," she laughs softly to herself as Walker disappears and assumes she'll manage, and Kibou opens a like wormhole connecting her from here to there, leaving only the matter of stepping through..

"Here goes nothing," she mutters and launches herself to where she hopes is a meeting point with Brother Walker - she has no doubt the corridor does somewhere, she's just not so confident it will be to him. However, time enough for worrying about that later.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Returning to Earth himself after the events on Knowhere, Hal Jordan was exhausted. He had been up and travelling for the last 36 hours, and his body was dead, as was his mind. His eyes were barely open when the wormhole deposited him within the familiar grounds of his home solar system, and that big blue ball of life, Earth.

"Man, the first thing I'm going to do is crack open a big, giant beer or six, and check on how the Coast City Angels had done opening weekend." Hal Jordan smiles, and pushes his will towards Earth and home.

"Honor Guard Hal Jordan. Warning. Blue Lantern power ring detected. Power outputs at 150 percent."

Stopping himself, Hal Jordan wills his ring to zoom in on the new wormholes, and smiles. "Ring. Skip the whole title thing. Green Lantern is fine...well I'll be damned..." Moving in that direction, Hal heads for the new arrival(s).

Saint Walker has posed:
Walker's ring chimes in with a warning of it's own:

"Warning Green Lantern detected. Identified as Hal Jordan."

Walker grins broadly. "Excellent," he says before adding as an after thought. "Disable detailed identification until further notice," he still had not revealed to Kinsey who Green Lantern was, it was best left to Hal at a time of his choosing.

However he does offer a hail, ring to ring: "Greetings, brother Lantern, sorry for dropping in unnanounced, I am just giving the newest Blue Lantern an education in wormholes."

As he says that a new wormhole opens, one which will hopefully soon spit out his student.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
And that it does, the wormhole neatly producing one Kinsey MacKenna who is more than slightly bemused at the fact. Again, she'd figured the hole went somewhere, and had faith that Kibou (her ring - because she couldn't just call him/it ring, now could she?!?) wouldn't plop her into imminent danger withouth some sort of warning..

Though even as she thinks that, and arrives quite rightly where Brother Walker is, Kibou chimes in with his own warning of the nearby Green Lantern.

"Uh.. okay?"

Kibou returning, "Would you like me to open up communications?"

To which Kinsey didn't have a ready or pat answer beyond, "Is that standard? Because I don't know any.. okay, I met one, but I'm not sure of the protocol here.."

Kibou, still young and eagerly pleased with his companion, proceeds to expound upon the matter while Kinsey looks for her mentor, giving him a 'help?' kinda look.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Taking that "call", Hal Jordan says, "Why Saint Walker, I'll be damned. I was just thinking about you, and here you are, apearing like the devil you are." Hal chuckles and heads in the direction of the Blue Lantern energy. Moving closer, Hal can make out the other two Lanterns, both Blue, as the second appears through her wormhole.

"An education. I must admit, I am sure Ganthet and Sayd are pleased at the recruiting going on amongst your ranks. That makes, what, like five or six of you now? We could always use you on the front lines." Hal hovers closer.

Looking at Kinsey, Hal recognizes her from the Station, and uses his ring to open up a com line to her ring, if she was "willing.". "Why, hello there." Hal points to himself. "I'm Green Lantern. It is nice to meet you officially, after that mess a few days ago on Alpha Flight's station." A slight pause. "If you can keep a secret, my fellow Lanterns call me Hal. Hal Jordan."

Saint Walker has posed:
Even though they're communicating across kilometers of vaccum Walker tilts his head. "If I understand Earth mythology correctly, I am far from a devil, but I understand the joke," he says good-naturedly. "But it is good that we've met I would like to discuss some things as well, things that would be good for both myself and Sister Kinsey to hear."

As for the recruitment. "Our numbers are indeed swelling rapidly, which is both a cause for joy and perhaps a little concern, the Universe must be in dire need of hope right now, and you know we are always happy to assist our brother and sister lanterns wherever there is need."

When Kinsey emerges Walker grins, "Well done, Sister Kinsey!" he says, "And yes, our rings do warn us about the presence of other Lanterns and where the Greens are concerned it is perfectly acceptable to open communications. Reds and Yellows however, may require more caution."

And yes indeed they're just floating in empty space with the blue orb of Earth behind them.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Floating in space is more than a little disconcerting, though by the time her brain registers that this should be a Bad Thing (tm), it also registers that she's not dead yet, or flaoting off into the nothingness, and has been rather neatly comparted into her 'uniform' and all is well, even if this is all accompanied by a smug sort of feeling from Kibou. "You and I are going to have a long talk later, Kibou," she warns, but with enough good-nature that it shouldn't be entirely a threat.

"Brother Walker, it seems it worked, though I have to say your method of sink or swim teaching is rather disconcerting." As with her warning to Kibou, this comes with enough amusement that it's clear no ire is felt, and of course she does take the 'call'.

"Why, hello. You'll have to forgive me. This past while has been rather full of surprises. Not exactly how I'd thought we'd meet again, Green Lantern. And thank-you for your confidence there. It means a lot."

Walker's words, though, do create a furrow to her brow. "That doesn't sound terribly like it bodes well. So many new ones cropping up in short order? Unless this is merely filling out gaps that existed? Noted about the Reds and Yellows, though. Thank-you."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
The emerald energy coursing through Hal Jordan's shield, protecting him from the vacuum of space flashes for a second, as the power intake from the vicinity of the Blue Lantern energy causes the Green energy of will to double. "Excellent Walker. I am happy to see you are getting my gentle ribbing." A chuckle, and a nod as Hal drifts closer. Crossing his arms across his chest, Hal smiles.

"Of course, Walker, anything for you. And anything to help out your new recruit!" Hal's eyes study Kinsey for a second, but not too close. No need for rudeness. Looking back at Walker, Hal says, "Yeah, there are a few things we need to discuss. A darkness I can't explain." A pause. "For another time." As his eyes look at Kinsey again, but not wanting to go too dark. No need to scare her yet.

"Listen to Saint Walker, Kinsey." Hal takes that from Walker's calling her "Sister Kinsey". "I haven't met a greater teacher for Hope in the Galaxy in all my years of ring slinging. You couldn't have found a better mentor. Well, except for me of course."

Hal laughs, and then sobers, as the conversation darkens. "No worries. A darkness stirs. Something within the emotional spectrums of energy itself. I can't put my finger on it, but it is like someone or something dark has hacked into the emotional wavelengths itself and is feeding on it..." He trails off. "Anyway, when I know something further, I will tell you. Heading to Takron Galtos in a few days to chat with an inmate there. Maybe they can help."

Saint Walker has posed:
Walker's lips set into a line at the news about the growing darkness. "That is not good," he says, and despite the mild statement there is no doubt from his tone he understands the gravity of the situation.

Though that does not stop him from smiling at Hal's little jab. "Well, if you want to teach her about weilding the Blue Light of Hope you may do so at any time," he teases lightly. "Though your perspective on ring slinging in general would be welcome," that last is a serious request.

As for the other... he makes a face. "Are you sure that's even possible? What could feed on all the spectrums?" it was hard enough to find those who could channel even one. "And, oh? Who do you plan to speak to?"

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey knows a good joshing between friends when she sees one, and politely waits for the two men to stop twitting one another, adding, after, "I'm sure I'd appreciate all the help I can get. All of this has been rather a shocking surprise." Gesturing to herself, floating in space, them, and turning her hand to display the ring upon her finger.

Hel's attempts not to scare her were likely unnecessary, the woman having not only grown up in the projects and intimidated down more than one would-be attacker, but she was really not the sort to panic under catastrophic conditions. Not only would it be disastrous in a lab setting to lose your cool when things went wrong, but it had never been part of her quiet, but assured makeup.

"A darkness, you say? Please, explain." It seems her status has not only been accepted, but not found either surprising or wanting by the Green, and she's content to forge ahead into the meat of the matter.

Kibou happily offers to provide a timestamped listing of such past events of note that would fit the criteria of growing darkness in the universe, with particular notation of those that would be of most import to the Blue Lantern Corps.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"I bet it would." Hal grins, and says, "Ring Slinging is an art. Just ask Kyle. He could tell you." Hal looks at Kinsey and says, "Well, you have all the important stuff already. The power to instill great hope. Being able to use the ring, and help in this battle against the bad guys. So, there is that."

Looking back at Walker, Hal frowns. "An old enemy. Black Hand. He's been kept there at my request, although I would have preferred the Sciencells on Oa." He sideways glances at Kinsey, and adds, "Yeah. Been a few encounters. People being controlled by something. Always within proximity of a ring wielder. So far, I have a red, a yellow, and myself, a green that have been involved, so I suspect it might be all the colours, not just one."

Saint Walker has posed:
"Yes, well Kyle does have the advantage when it comes to creative constructs," Walker says before filling Kinsey in with, "A Green Lantern and an artist. We haven't delved too deeply into constructs yet but you'll find an imagination is exceedingly helpful there."

For his part Walker's constructs were mostly striaghtforward and simple, but others made it an art all of their own.

"How did he end up there? This Black Hand?" he asks the rest, it's met with a frown. "Troubling. Have you alerted Star Sapphire? It would be good to confirm if any among the Indigo are involved." Or for that matter the Blue, but he'd see to that himself.

As for Orange. Well there was only one of them in the first place.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"An imagination?" Kinsey gives a laughing protest, "You both know I'm a scientist, yes?" Of course there is a rather large argument that science is full of creativity if you know where to look, and in her field, while many parts were strictly regimented, there was a vastness of outside the box thinking in her specific field.

Something Hal says catches her attention, especially as she isn't familiar with those the two more senior Lanterns are discussing. "Around other Lanterns, you say?" It still felt exceedingly weird to say that word so casually, let alone thing of herself as one. "You realize, that does sound a very lot like someone trying to get you.. Our.. attention. Unless there are reports of it occurring otherwise that we haven't seen?"

Which she confers with Kibou on. "Kibou.."

"Already compiling a search. Data requested will be available.." Kibou giving a number as her computes and crunches available databases to answer his Lantern's needs.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"True enough. Constructs are towards the end. I have always been of the idea of keep it simple, and hit them hard with whatever strikes at the moment. Works for me." Hal Jordan says, floating in space. That was when Hal sighs. "I put him there, Walker. I figured they had the technical expertise to hold him, but with everything going on, I don't know. Something about all this doesn't feel right."

Shaking his head, Hal says, "No. I haven't spoken to the Zamarons or Sapphires yet. I tend to try and avoid them...as for the Tribe, I haven't been able to locate them." Hal looks at Saint Walker. "If you feel anything, or come across anything, let me know."

Hal's attention is then returned to the newbie rookie. "Oh no, not a scientist." Looking at Walker, with a pained expression, "How could you?" Hal winks at him and chuckles. Then he adds, "Yes, it does sound like that Kinsey. There have been no other reports. So far, only I have witnessed this. Well, other than the Guardians of the Galaxy."

Saint Walker has posed:
Walker grins at Kinsey. "It had come to my attention," he says of her being a scientist teasing his student. While something of a religious man himself, he had little doubt of the creativity involved in science, after all how could one answer questions about the universe without thinking of the question in the first place?

"I too favour a simple approach, but ultimately, each Lantern finds their own path when it comes to constructs," Walker adds to Hal's words of wisdom.

"I will inquire after them as soon as possible," he says of the Zamarons and Sapphires. "I suppose one should ask if anyone has encounter Larfleeze recently?" That one Orange Lantern he had been thimking about earlier.

There is a small. "Heh," at the mention of the Guardians. "/They/ are involved? This should be interesting." He knew of the band of galaxy savers by reputation. Which was... less than pristine.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey laughs at Hal. "You knew I was a scientist. Or at least I'd hope that hadn't escaped your notice. I wasn't aware I was on the professional blacklist for the job, though I hear that once the ring has decided I'm worthy, that I'm good for tenure barring a few specific circumstances." Yep, teasing right on back. "I may have to take this up with my union rep."

Kibou's search comes back with an "...incomplete at this time, but a cursory serach of all available data shows that there are no other instances that seem to fit the criteria mentioned.." Leaving Kinsey to nod in a very calm manner, "Very good, Kibou. Please keep a watch on that for me, but you needn't devout excessive attention. If I'm right, we'll be alerted well enough on our own before your intervention is necessary." Dealing with her ring as patiently as she would the newest lab tech to work under her.

Of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Kinsey is not informed - no surprises there, she's an earth scientist who only just (relatively speaking) got her toes wet in the larger wonders of the galaxy. By Brother Walker's careful intonation, she was hazarding a personal guess they might not be of the more savoury fellows of the universe, however, not of the need to chase down and shake answers from with prejudice.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"Very true. To each their own. I agree." Hal Jordan smiles. "It has been my experience that each takes to their ring with their own way of doing things. It is better that way. No use trying to be like someone else. Be your own person, and use the power as best you can."

When Saint Walker mention Larfleeze, Hal groans. "No. I haven't see hide nor hair of him. I feel he's lurking around though, just waiting to be involved." Hal Jordan frowns. "I expect, before everything is said and done, he'll be a part of this."

Kinsey's comments make Hal laugh, and he thumbs in her direction while talking to Saint. "Yeah, she'll fit in fine." Hal shrugs, and says, "Anyway, I have to skedaddle. I have a date with a TV and a bed, asap. I'm heading to Takron Galtos tomorrow. If you are available, maybe you should swing by as well. I can always use the help."

Saint Walker has posed:
Smiling Walker says, "Hal., speaks wisely, one of the greatest strengths of the Lantern Corps are that each individual brings their own ways with them, making for a stronger whole." He gives Hal a little nod of his head.

As for the rest, he nods. "No doubt when he feels that he can gain the most by his involvement," he says before turning to Kinsey, "Larfleeze is the sole Orange Lantern of avarice. A most unpleasant and short-sighted creature."

"I believe so, too," he says of Kinsey, though noticing her confusion he has his ring beam her a list of the 'exploits' of the Guardians of the Galaxy for reference. "Then we shall not keep you, Hal Jordan, and I beleve Ganthet mentioned there was someone needing transport to Takron Galtos, we'll take on that duty and see you there."

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Then I suppose we'll find out what I bring to the mix," Kinsey says, lips pursing over a smirk. "I don't actually find the two things need be exclusive, though if you were expecting me to kick back with tea and knitting on a Saturday night you'd be sorely disappointed." Which brins a small frown to her features as she can't actually remember the last time she did kick back on a Saturday evening for fun, or even what she did do for fun. A circumstance she determined she needed to rectify.

The information on the Guardians is taken in, and glossed over enough to give a knowing nod of head. "Ah. I see. So rapscallions, but usefully so. I've dealt with worse." She had. Kinsey wasn't one to quibble over legalities as much as impact, import, and need.

There is a gentle smile to Hal as he begs his leave. "It was good meeting you again. I Hope next time the circumstances are both better and allow for a longer conversation."

Little does she know...

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan nods at Saint Walker, appreciating the comment. "Yeah. Larfleeze is not the sort you want to tangle with though. He put a few Lanterns in the ground, and is extremely dangerous." Hal notes with a nod. "AH, probably. Knowing Ganthet, he has a lot of stuff to deal with. Tell him I say hello."

Looking back at Kinsey, Hal turns on his best fighter pilot charming smaile, and bows slightly at the waist. "It was very good seeing you again as well. Enjoy this time, Sister Kinsey! This is the best time of your life. Welcome to the new...Universe!" He pushes his hands out wide, winks at her, smiles and nods at Saint Walker, and with a push of his will, is gone almost as quick as he arrived.

Saint Walker has posed:
Saint Walker nods grimly about Larfleeze. "True," he says about those lost to him. He adds to Kinsey. "Another one to watch out for."

Though that probably goes without saying.

"And you are right about Ganthet, but I will pass on your greeting," he says with a smile.

Kinsey's appraisal of the Guardians of the Galaxy gets a nod, "Exactly," then he's saying goodbye to Hal, "Rest well Hal Jordan, we will see you soon."

Then as the fighter pilot zooms away. "Well, since we are here, shall we pause our lessons for a time and see about some relaxation ourselves? It seems like we will be in for a busy time."

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
The added information, with regards to Larfleeze, amongst other things, is tucked away by Kinsey, to be considered later and at her liesure before proceeding with more questions. At the time, she believes she has this luxury.

Hal is laughed at, and when he's gone, she chuckles at Saint Walker, "He's a bit of a flirt, isn't he? It's a good thing I think I'm past my blushing and faint of heart years or I might have made the mistake of taking him seriously." Which she doesn't sound like she's serious about either. "Though I do have to ask, am I going to have to get used to being called Sister Kinsey for the rest of my days? I feel like I should be joining a convent or a monastary. I do hope that wasn't a fine print requirement of the job?"

As to liesure, "What would you suggest, Brother Walker?" Totally unironically given her just prior query about the 'Brother/Sister' moniker. "I confess, I can't remember the last time I wasn't working. I'm afraid you might find me rather boring after all this. Though I do believe we have a luncheon date promised?"

Saint Walker has posed:
Saint Walker grins, "Somehow I do not think 'boring' will be a problem for much longer," he says with a nod to the ring. Say what you will about being a Lantern, but invariably adventure seems to find them.

"And that is exactly what I had in mind, and if there is time before we needed on Takron Galtos I will keep my end of our bargain and introduce you to that Gramosian Bistro I quite enjoy.."

Then with a look towards the Earth, he nods, "Would you like to lead the way?"
