A Night In Central Park
Date of Scene: 06 May 2019
Location: Central Park
Synopsis: A series of random people investigate a scream in Central Park at night. Punisher shoots first and asks questions later. Doctor Strange... is Doctor Strange.
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Snake Eyes, Doctor Strange, Punisher, Black Cat

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Central Park is a hot bed for all kinds of activity and given that it's starting to warm up, there's been more and more calls coming in that have to do with illegal activities and other brands of nonsense in the park. It's a little past twilight this evening and there's already been a disturbance called in by an anonymous tipper in the park. The NYPD are a bit swamped for a Monday so their response times aren't the greatest.

What was called in was a fight that ended with screaming and then the caller said that it stopped. Nothing more after that as the line went dead.

Definitely not a good start to the night.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's been keeping off the radar of a certain psychotic. And no, that's not Frank! She's gotten over to Central Park tonight to maybe sort some stuff out mentally. But there's been the disturbance and people had started to head back to safer, well lit areas. The redhead is among the very few weirdos that head towards where the fuss had been. Given it's a night time disturbance, there's always that chance of it being someone she knows. Or worse.

Snake Eyes has posed:
It just so happens that Snake Eyes is taking a walk through the park. Normally, he dresses in his ninja gear but tonight he's wearing his civvies, a tan windbreaker worn over a black t-shirt, blue jeans and tan combat boots. Trying to blend in with the population. He's even wearing the mask that hides the burns on his face and makes him look like a regular guy. It would take someone especially perceptive to notice.

Action Force sometimes monitors local police communications when they're working in an area. Even though Snake's got the night off one of his handlers is on the job. They send a text to his mobile device, 'Snake, police report screaming and fighting in Central Park. Probably not our business, but figured you could use the head's up.' The ninja commando replies with, 'THX. Will look.'

It's not terribly difficult to figure out where the trouble's at as there are a number of people leaving that spot. The GI Joe trooper steps up his pace to try to see what he can find out, preferably before any bystanders are hurt.

Doctor Strange has posed:
There's an odd fellow walking through the park but he stops at a patch of flowers off the trail and he looks down with his hands in his pockets of the shawl collar cardigan over his button up shirt. There's a white wire trailing down from one ear and he speaks as he stops to look at the purple flowers that caught his eyes. "Tell me, are you working this evening?" Stephen asks towards the in ear phone call he's on. The wizard looks up and frowns interrupting the response and speaks "-Something's happening near by. I'm going to poke my nose where it doesn't belong." The sorcerer supreme says as he stands up straight and moves towards the commotion. Sans cloak.

Punisher has posed:
Central Park. A good place to do surveillance with good cover. A good place to exercise.

Also a good place to hide, if you know how to cloak yourself in the daily lives of people.

Punisher wasn't expecting anything serious tonight, and had been doing light surveillance of a couple targets when Microchip intercepted the call. A search bot had been programmed to watch for local disturbances in case of trouble... and it looks like it was happening.

"Frank, the bot just picked up on something close to you. I have no idea what it is, but the line went dead. I'm trying to trace it now." Punisher, sitting on a bench in black civvies and jeans, had heard the commotion already, "Yeah, I heard it. Sounds like a scream. I'll check it out." Punisher replies with a grunt, before he stands and starts to walk over.

He might not have serious firepower, but he does have a couple decent pistols and a Ka-Bar under his jacket.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
There's no sign of police anywhere. Maybe they won't be showing up as fast as they usually do. Maybe the coffee was fresh? Who knows.

What is known is that the individuals are walking towards something that might be dangerous and possibly like taking peoples communication devices out. Great!

The Sorceror Supreme might feel the tiny strands of magic that are around them being pulled. Probably something he's well aware of.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Fiddling with his mobile device a bit longer, Snake soon realizes the thing isn't doing what it's supposed to. That's quite out of the ordinary for such a high tech piece of equipment. There's a shrug as the ninja slides it into his pocket and continues towards the disturbance.

Turning his head from side to side he spots the other people heading in the same direction he is and lifts a hand to wave at them briefly. Seems like there are still good Samaritans out there.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"Well, it's my nose, and it's going into business that isn't my own. It's kind of /my/ job." The wizard says before he looks up and twists his fingers up through the air as he walks and then brings them back down. "Magic is being used. I might get disconnected." Stephen says before he releases the strands of magic that flow through the park and sighs into the call. "Something bad is happening."

Not noticing Frank just yet, Strange walks closer and closer to where he assumes the scream originated from, his grey eyes looking to and fro for some sign of a struggle or a farcas.

Punisher has posed:
"Got it. It's right near the bicycle paths to your north, about a block to the west." Microchip relays to Punisher, who picks up the pace in the direction Microchip gave him.

He's just a casual walker, taking a stroll in the park. Nothin' to see here... Just a man in a black hoodie and black jeans, meant to conceal a VP9 and a Beretta with rubber rounds.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Frank is walking in the right direction. The direction becomes even more apparent when a wet sound followed by the crack of bone is heard. That sound usually heralds something very, very bad has happened. And when there's no shriek from a person? That person is generally already dead. Those with heightened senses can smell that. The smell of copper on the air. Fresh blood.

Then there's the thunk of something hitting the ground near the bike racks and...yep, that's an arm. Something is in a bad mood tonight.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen is picking up the pace. The ideals and the oaths he's taken as a sorcerer have yet to override the original oaths and promises he made in becoming a doctor. So he aims to help who he can as well as he can. The former surgeon speeds up and gets close enough to hear the arm hitting the ground near the bike racks and he nearly stops but instead looks up. "Um..." Stephen stutters, rare for the well spoken surgeon, "Stay out of the park for a while Kitten." Then Stephen kills the call and steps closer. "What's up there! Reveal yourself to me!" Stephen says, his voice booming and laced slightly with a mystical compulsion spell.

Snake Eyes has posed:
With senses as good as a human can get, Snake Eyes quickly picks up on the smell in the air, turning his head slightly to the side as he inhales deeply through his nose. And then there's that arm, that's even harder to miss.

Without wasting any time he sprints in the direction the arm came from, pushing back his windbreaker so that he can access the pistol riding on his right hip. As he draws the weapon the ninja hears the words come from the strange fellow and ducks towards the bushes, moving to use them for concealment from whatever the potential threat might be.

Punisher has posed:
When the wet sound becomes audible, the VP9 is already out. The arm? That doesn't even register as Punisher gets into a ready-to-fire stance, the pistol aimed in the direction of whatever-it-is as he starts to go into a jog.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Strange's summons bring are heard and down from the branches of the tree drops down a pretty tall man, whip thin with shaggy black hair. His face is covered in blood and down the front of his shirt is covered. It's really not attractive. "You're disturbing my dinner, wizard." the man spits out. That's when they can all see the fangs. Vampires?! Of course. But when did they start dismembering people? This is something that isn't in the lore really.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen steps forwards, no fear in his voice or demeanor. Lacking his cloak and the eye is back at the mansion, Stephen is still one of the leading mystics on this planet and he damn well knows it. "You seem to be disturbing people's lives. Vampire." Stephen says, squinting for the briefest moment. "You know who I am, do you really wish to deal with me while I'm in a sour mood having had to be interrupted by a sloppy vampire playing with their food." Stephen frowns deeply at the creature before him.

Snake Eyes has posed:
As the dude covered in blood drops down from a tree and shows himself to the world Snake Eyes trains his firearm on them, ready to open fire. But those teeth? Yeah, that means something weird is going down. His left hand drops to the small of his back so he can draw a long bladed combat knife, holding it at his side.

Snake's eyes scan the trees above, checking to see if there are more threats up there while the guy barking orders at the vampire does his thing. He makes a hell of a distraction for the ninja, too, as he starts to sneak closer, using the trees and bushes to hide his movements.

Punisher has posed:
*BLAM* There's no hesitation. No attempt at diplomacy. *BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM* The VP9 is rapidly fired by The Punisher at the thing, directly center mass and directly at the heart in alteration, with Punisher firing the full magazine into it. He has no idea it is, but if it kills in the open like this? It's bad news in general.

The Punisher ain't havin' none of that.

Black Cat has posed:
Dropped phone calls don't fly, not with this one. As such, at the periphery of the Park, a lithe figure in a black catsuit lands after swinging in on one of her wrist-tech grappling wires. Felicia rolls to her feet and freezes in the shadow of one of the old trees. She squints and scans the immediate area -- no sign of any familiar face or immediate danger.

"What the hell," she growls to herself as she takes up a brisk jog, sticking as best she can to the darkness beneath the spread of newly-leafed trees. "I'm //not// playing this game with you, you -- "

Gunshots ring out. The Black Cat jams to a sudden halt, jade-green eyes wide behind her domino, and then breaks into a shockingly quick run towards them, her heart in her throat. She's a blur of inky leather across the grass, her platinum-blonde hair bright in the fall of city-light.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"Hey Asshole." comes the female voice from the sidelines. If anyone looks, Morrigan is standing there in jeans, t-shirt and she looks PISSED. There's a gun in her hands, or something that resembles a gun. She aims it at the guy that's dropped from the tree and fires. But not a bullet, it's a stream of what looks like water...but Frank is already emptied a clip into him so he's knocked back and her aim is ruined. "Oh that was a bad idea..." the violet eyed woman whispers as her eyes have that hint of a glow to them all of the sudden and she braces for something REALLY bad to happen.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Between being shot and the holy water that's just been brought into the atmosphere, the Vampire freaks out. Whatever was left of the talking side quickly vanishes and he reaches up to break off a large branch of the tree and swings it with all that unholy might at ANYONE who is close enough to be hit. And it's not a soft hit. It's definitely swinging for the outfield. And beyond.

After he swings, there's a look to Morrigan and then there's a bounding leap up into the trees. Where he vanishes.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen was caught unaware by the Vampire and the creatures might swing of the branch and he goes tumbling through the air to hit the ground hard and rolls over to lay on his belly with a grunt. Reaching up slowly to rub a hand at his jaw Stephen frowns as he slowly stands back up. "You brought a squirt gun to fight a vampire?" Stephen asks towards Mo and frowns before shaking his head as he lifts himself up slowly back to his feet and then he looks towards Frank and just shakes his head. "Maybe assess your targets better." Stephen says with a wince before he tries to walk back to where he was standing.

Punisher has posed:
"I've never seen one of those before, so I have no frame of reference." Punisher fires back at Strange, "If you have something that'll deal with those things quickly, I'm always lookin' to expand the armory." Punisher continues as he makes a dash for where the Vampire lept, reloading the magazine of his VP9 as he goes.

Unless the thing was able to leap out of Central Park in a single bound, it wasn't getting away from The Punisher.

Snake Eyes has posed:
The wild swing from the vampire narrowly misses the ninja as he performs a backflip to get himself out of the way, firing a round. After the strange creature bounds into the branches Snake Eyes takes off after him, trying to catch up before it can get away. It's not quite as easy for the human as he lacks the monster's strength, Snake having to holster his weapons before he can run up the nearest tree, bouncing off of it when he reaches a certain height to be able to grab a branch and pull himself into the tree top. Once there he lets his senses take over, ready to pursue the murderer or defend himself.

Black Cat has posed:
Weaving between the trunks of the isolated copse of trees, Felicia keeps up the blistering pace. Under her breath, all the while, she keeps up the litany of grumbles. With a vault, she clears a fallen log by a good number of feet set to make any Olympic athlete jealous before skidding to a crouched halt again.

She can hear voices...and something rustling in a big hurry above. The cat-burglar immediately presses herself flat against the nearest tree trunk and holds very still, trying to breathe through her nose as quietly as she can.

Nothing //that big// should be in the trees of Central Park. A sharp eye will be able to spot her pale hair in the fall of ambient light regardless.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The Vampire is gone. Like...teleported or vanished into another realm level of vanished. There's just the corpse that is behind the bushes and the arm that's by the bike rack that reminds people that he was there. Snake wouldn't sense or hear anything. Frank wouldn't find him in Central Park either if he went looking for him. It's just one of those situations where the monster got spooked and fled.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan sighs softly and looks up towards the trees, but nope, that bastard is gone. "Damn it." she shakes her head. Then she looks to Stephen, "It's holy water." she tells him. Then she fires a few squirts into her mouth. "I didn't know it was him. But now that I know that it is." she nods. Then she look to Frank and there's a squint, "Ah. It's you. Maybe dip your bullets in holy water or see about getting them blessed. I know that sounds crazy, but otherwise he's just going to push out the bullets and be pissed off." she shakes her head. "Good old stake through the heart and or taking his head off is sadly how that man needs to go." she tells them.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen's hand moves from his jaw to his forehead as he shakes his whole head. "A water gun." Stephen repeats to himself and rolls his eyes. "A few droplets from the grail itself wouldn't be enough to kill it." Stephen says with a roll of his eyes. He knows most people think to kill the vampires when or if they come across one. But Stephen, he knows from experience, you can turn them back.

"If you can't save him, then yes a steak of silver or wood works best, or decapitation." Stephen notes aloud towards Frank with a shake of his head. "He's gone, vanished via magics. You can't chase him down on foot, and for the future if you don't have frame of reference, maybe best to leave it to someone who does." Stephen turns to address Frank fully, and a motion to himself. As he was the one talking with the vampire without concern or fear. Stephen was hanling the situation or so he thought.

Snake Eyes has posed:
Dropping from the trees, Snake hits the ground and tumbles forward, rolling smoothly to his feet in front of the gathered trio. He points towards the trees and then shrugs his shoulders in an exaggerated motion, then points at Strange when he says something about the vampire vanishing, nodding a bunch. He reaches towards his pocket, moving slowly so the other folks can see his hands, to produce a cell phone upon which he types and then shows, 'I'm Snake. You vampire subject matter expert? This one is different from another type. Stored its blood in its belly and got all messed up when sliced open.'

Punisher has posed:
"One of those." Punisher grates as he continues to aim into the trees for a moment... then drops the pistol to an idle position. "Got something new to study for, then." He starts to head back over to Doctor Strange and Morrigan, "If I see a shot to put something down quick like that, I take it. Just so happens I wasn't using the right ammo this time." Punisher notes, unapologetically.

Then he looks to Doctor Strange, "And who are you supposed to be?" Punisher squints at him as he stands there, his pistol idling in front.

Black Cat has posed:
Whatever scampers through the treetops is now gone -- and thank god for it. Blowing out a sigh, Felicia then finishes jogging out and into proper view of the gathering of people. Three of them aren't familiar, but one certainly is. Adopting a swinging walk full of hips and confidence, the cat-burglar calls out on the approach to answer the Punisher,

"Somebody who should know better than to hang up on me." Her jade-green eyes glint. "What's the big...deal..."

It smells like blood -- and she's caught sight of the dismembered body parts. With a soft sound of dismay, she quickens her steps to take up a place beside Stephen, nose wrinkled. "Okay, that's...that's really gross," she whispers with a small shiver.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to Stephen, "As much as it pains me to admit that I know that particular vampire, it happens to be my father. He is absolutely too far gone. He's killed a lot of people over his years." she tells him. "I'm not really up for killing vampires. But I've been working on his case since he's been leaving a trail of bodies here in New York since he found out I was here." she tells them. "Working with what I got since a wizard dropped the ball with helping." she grumbles about Dresden as she shoves the squirt gun in her pocket and turns to head off. "Oh hey, thanks for that help in Harlem." she tells the Punisher with a wave over her shoulder.

And it's moments later that the sirens can be heard off in the distance. Naturally they are there way after the fact. But at least they can clean up!

Doctor Strange has posed:
"I said to avoid the park so where do you immediately go?" Stephen says with a sigh before his eyes level on Felicia and as she saunters closer he can't help but smile with those big greys. Stephen gives Snake Eyes and Punisher a curt nod. "I'm the guy who deals with the things that go bump in the night of the things that go bump in the night." Always cryptic and rarely helpful in direct ways. Then Stephen's addressing Mo, "You're welcome to come by my place and ask for help or opinions, we can weigh your options and figure out something. I'm sure of it." Strange notes without leaving an address or anything but an odd sort of sensation washes over Morrigan as he says she can find him.

"Best to avoid the sirens this night I think." Stephen says, a hand slipping behind Felicia's back, if she'll let him, and without a word or warning, the Black Cat and the Sorcerer Supreme have vanished from sight.

Punisher has posed:
"Says he knows how to handle these things, then just leaves without actually bein' helpful and givin' me attitude for being decisive. Typical New Yorkers." Punisher grouses as he starts to run.

Being an internationally wanted fugitive, it would be a very bad thing to stick around.

Goddamned Wizards.
