Tinyplot: Age of Despair

Supergirl has posed:
It's been a rough couple of weeks. Supergirl is dealing with the worst crisis of her young life. This has led to her taking entirely too much on her shoulders, in her attempt to make everything okay.

Tonight, she is just coming back to Riverdale after having spent her entire day over in Metropolis, doing her best to cover for the missing Superman. To say she is tired is an understatement. There are dark circles under her eyes and somehow the brightness seems to be gone from her right now.

Darkhawk has posed:
Long before he arrived, Chris coordinated with Mackenzie King Station's defences, warning them of his arrival, so no cavalry comes to greet the humanoid body entering Earth's atmosphere, and clearing it with any terrestrial monitors on the ground. The chain of command knew. But it wasn't exactly widely circulated. So when he draws nearer to Starling, he rather looks like a shooting star, having built up some flames from the friction in the atmosphere. But unlike other things that might burn up on entry, he is slowing down.

The flames begin to dissipate, and a dark figure might be seen to anyone using a telescope. The suit reflects light, making it really hard for sensors to pick him up, but he was feeling like being a bit showy, hence the rapidness of his approach. He could have cloaked. He could have done any number of things. But he wanted to be seen.

He was set to land not too far from Pop's if he kept up his current trajectory. And then, as he continued to slow, he made the softest, gentlest landing, coming from a speed off the charts, to a mere glide as his feet touched down on the grass of the field, feet that absorbed the sound of it and curiously, did not give off any heat. The air around him had been on fire, but the suit was cool to the touch. The wonders of alien technology. Darkhawk was home.

Supergirl has posed:
Seeing the bright light in the sky just as she was about to head for her home, Supergirl hesitates. Super sight allows her to see who is incoming. Unusual for him to be so obvious about it but it wasn't that strange of a sight for Darkhawk or Supergirl to be seen in Starling and the areas surrounding it.

As he moved to land, she flew to intercept, landing just at the same moment he did. "You made it home. Good to see you." Though she sounds happy, that usual pep she has is absent.

Darkhawk has posed:
Darkhawk had an ominous appearance. The wings slid back into his back, disconnecting from his arms. They were soundless, but looked to be razor sharp. He was dark, with only bits of silver and red giving him any colour, though there was a slight blue tint to his form. Mostly it was the mask, red visor across the front, and the claw on the right hand that made him look so scary. His voice, deep and strong, did not match his word choice, "K... Supergirl, it's so good to see you. I missed you." He moved to embrace her, and then... and then he noted the bags under her eyes, the tone, "what's wrong?"

Supergirl has posed:
When he hesitates, she does not. It doesn't matter that it's armor. She kind of really needs a hug right now. "It's everything. There was an attack. Superman..." She pauses, getting her emotions under control as she steps back to look at him with tears in her eyes. "He's in a coma. He doesn't seem to be getting better and we don't know why. There was a magical attack on the Watchtower and he was kidnapped, taken to Apokolips. Which we learned through various magic users who are helping us. We did a rescue but it was too late. He was already really hurt and now..."

Darkhawk has posed:
Darkhawk wraps his arms around her. He can feel through the armour when he wants, as it has built in tactile sensors. Of course it doesn't feel real, no pulse, no warmth, temperature meaning at least, but it's him. He lets out a soothing noise, "there, there, it'll be all right. No need to rush." And when she steps back, he'll regard her. It's so hard to portray emotion in that suit, but she knows him better than anyone. He was giving her his sympathetic concerned look. "Apocaylpse?" He repeats, not garnering the reference, as he knows not the world, nor the person. "I'm so sorry."

Supergirl has posed:
"Remember the invastion two years ago by the parademons and stuff? That was Darkseid's forces. He runs Apokolips, a horrible planet where he lives." Supergirl probably isn't explaining it very well but it gets the point across. "That magic types were able to track him there, then open a portal. A bunch of us went through and saved him. He was being held in Kryptonite chains. They took his blood for something then were going to kill him but we got him away and back here. Only then he went into a coma and no one can figure out how to help him. Even the high tech from the Fortress and the Watchtower are failing. So I'm trying to cover for him while he is gone. I spend all my time in Metropolis, trying to make it seem like he is there. I haven't been to school since it happened."

Darkhawk has posed:
Darkhawk listens to it all, nodding his head at points, and being confused, but not really giving that away. Again, a full metal suit, complete with mask, which is actually a replacement body - it's complicated, doesn't give away much. "Did you try going to Dr. Twoyoungmen?" Meaning Shaman, who was simultaneously one of the world's top surgeons, and a great source of magical ability as well. "Or what's the guy in New York's name? Dr. Weird?" There was genuine concern in his voice, before he adds, "in the meantime, Metropolis now has two protectors." And then, he tries to make her smile by asking, "you don't think the Metropolitans will freak out at a guy dressed like a hawk, do you? Knowing my luck they'd mistake me for Batman."

Supergirl has posed:
"It would be a compliment to be mistaken for Batman," Supergirl points out. After all, he's part of the Justice League. Even if he is plain scary. Even to a Kryptonian.

"I can use all the help I can get. Dr. Twoyoungmen hasn't been available but Constantine and some others have been about. A young woman named Willow, who is very nice, has been trying to help too. She's a witch." SHe adds that as an afterthought. "I haven't tried Doctor Strange yet." She figured out who he meant. "I've been keeping up with my school work. My parents are covering, saying I'm extremely ill. We'll see if they will accept it and I'll be able to graduate this year." SHe shakes her head. "Graduation seems such a silly thing to be thinking about when my cousin is so ill."

Darkhawk has posed:
"Okay, I'll take your word for it. You know him better than I do." He knew of Batman by reputation, and he gave Chris the heebie-jeebies. Nodding his head more at the information, he decides to give her another hug, moving in closer, "it sounds like he's in good hands. And none of the rest matters. Graduate this year, graduate next year, graduate in five years, I mean, it'd look silly and all, especially as smart as you are, but hey, I bet the guys in the class would love to sit across from you. The only things that you should focus on are that he is getting whatever he needs, and that you take care of you."

Supergirl has posed:
Supergirl leans into his shoulder, just glad for some emotional support. She hasn't really allowed that to happen but with Chris, it's different. "I'm pretty sure I'm skipping that last part. No time to worry about me. Just trying to keep things afloat and hoping for a miracle. I mean, what if the world finds out Superman is gone? Even for a short time." She isn't going to allow herself to think he might be gone longer. "I fear there will be a panic so I'm trying so hard."

Darkhawk has posed:
"Then I'll do the thinking of you, for you" He holds her, and runs a gloved hand over her hair, stroking it gently. "You're not alone." The first time he said that, it was firm. "You're not alone." The second time was softer. "You're not alone." And the third time with love and affection.
