Message for you, ma'am!
Date of Scene: 04 May 2019
Location: New York City
Synopsis: Nort gives info to Widow.
Cast of Characters: Black Widow (Romanoff), Megatron

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Doing what she does, Natasha tends to not have a routine. A routine led to the bad guys knowing where she might be at any given time. This was something she had learned from her days in the Red Room and it had proven to be correct so many times, it was a habit to not have habits.

Except one.

There were two guilty pleasures in Natasha's life. One of them was rather well known: Vodka. She enjoyed a good vodka when she wasn't on duty. The other was a greasy burger and no one made them better than Big Belly Burger. She allowed herself the treat about once a week. Her workouts kept it from showing in her physique and the serum in her blood kept her from suffering the health problems that might come with it.

She did her best to rotate the days around so it wasn't always the same day or the same time. However, it was often the same restaurant, something her instructors would've beat her bloody for allowing herself to do.

Despite all that, there Natasha sat at one of the little plastic tables. She had on a wig and sunglasses, all the better to not look like a famous Avenger. Her clothes were jeans and a t-shirt with a hoodie thrown over the top. In front of her? A cheeseburger and an order of onion rings. She had a chocolate shake to complete the decadence.

Megatron has posed:
The experiences of Natasha Romanoff are only partially a public record. She has, over the years, developed some measure of notoriety, though not as much as the other Avengers. But she is on various databases, and has some shots prominent in the media. It is enough to allow data to be drawn, to be sifted, collated, and then produce meaningful results.
Yet she is a ghost even then for the most part. No discernible pattern save for this one location. Yet the times... the times are random. That presented itself as a difficulty. It required a cross section of delivery services being engaged, required several deliveries to be scheduled and some to be diverted, even cancelled. But it did allow for the task to be ready to deploy when a traffic camera picked up Black Widow's signature even under the hoodie and sunglasses.
Such an effort gained that small window. That small opportunity to send the messenger to the true destination and it ends with...
"Package? I got a package for a Nat R.?" A pimply nineteen year old bike messenger stands in the doorway, a QUICKFED package in his hand, one of those cardboard ones with the easy pull ripcord to open it quickly.
He pulls off his bike helmet and asks, "Nat R. Said she'd be here?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
That gets her attention. Not simply because it is her but the fact no one else reponds. Which means it may actually be meant for her. She frowns as she takes another glance around the room. She's in a spot where she isn't actually visible from most of the windows. She shifts to be sure she's out of view of all of them.

She raises her hand, motioning to the young man to approach even as she puts her hand in the pocket of her hoodie and onto the grip of the gun inside it. "Over here," she calls to be sure he knows where to go.

He tries anything, she might shoot him right there. Just because he looks innocent doesn't mean he is. After all, she was younger when she started in the espionage business

Megatron has posed:
The delivery boy scoots over, slipping around an older man carrying his tray and avoiding a collision barely. He makes it to Natasha's tableside and sets the package down. He takes a moment to take a quick picture of it on the table with his data pad, then says. "Thanks!"
And as quick as that he turns to start towards the door, moving to get back to his bike and outside. Though he doesn't seem to be in a rush, he's taking his time getting his bike pulled out of the rack and is... adjusting his seat cushion? But definitely doesn't seem to be fleeing the scene of the crime.
    If this was a crime.
But that leaves Natasha there with the package, and a casual observation can tell her it's not quite a pound. Barely that.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Thanks to SHIELD, she does have a few toys. Natasha taps the side of her glasses and does a quick x-ray of the package. The only thing inside seems to be a phone. No wires. No C-4. Nothing that should go Boom. The phone seems a normal phone as well. Another tap to the side of her glasses and she rips open the package, letting the small burner phone fall out into her hand.

Someone went to an awful lot of trouble to get this delivered to her. Picking up her burger, she takes a bite as she ponders the phone, pushing a button to bring the screen to life. Unlocked. She goes to the contacts as she chews, looking to see if there is a phone number already preset for her to dial. It's that or someone is going to dial her.

Megatron has posed:
It's as she's perusing that the phone comes to life, vibrating faintly with no ring tone selected. The front screen activates declaring the call is coming from a number with an Idaho area code for whatever reason. It just quietly and steadily vibrates, three times, four... apparently it has no voice mail pick up option on the phone itself as it keeps going. Five. Six.
It's only when she hits the answer button and should she hold it to her ear she'll hear a quiet and gently rolling voice on the other end with a little bit of a British accent.
"Thank you for your indulgence, Ms. Romanoff. I apologize for the theatrics but I feel it is important to pass this information along safely and without others being aware of its proliferation."
There's a beat, then he continues. "I have transferred a file to this phone that continues information regarding the nullifier weapon used by the Sentinels. I trust you will be able to get this information to those who can make use of it."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Holding the phone to her ear, Natasha keeps an eye on her surroundings. A sip of her shake is taken as she listens to the voice on the other end. Not familiar. Not one of the people she has dealt with in the past, that she can recall. She tries to gauge the tone, pacing of words, the little hints that give information about a person, even sight unseen.

"I see. You know this leads to about a dozen questions. I doubt I will get to ask them all since you likely have a timer going should I try to track the call." No way someone is this good and isn't prepared to hang up the instant before they could be found. Unless they want to be found.

"How did you come by this information, Mister E?" She also doubts he will give her his name so she just uses that. "You must understand it is going to be suspect without being a credible source."

Megatron has posed:
Across the line the voice returns, "My name is Norton Agamemnon. That is what others know me by. I have also introduced this information to other circles of defiance in the face of these Sentinels and their aggression. I understand without credentials that it will be some time before you will feel comfortable acting on the intelligence. So I suggest you get started quickly."
There's a faint crackle on the line, a shift and a hiss of something that might almost be an electronic squeal. "I will be able to give you more information in the future if this exchange goes well."
Another shift of sound, a digital trill that lifts up in key towards the end, then it's his voice as he continues. "I have roughly forty seconds. Time enough for several questions. I will answer as I can."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Picking up an onion ring, Natasha doesn't actually take a bit but just holds it as she continues listening. Then she drops it back on her plate and wipes her hand on the napkin nearby.

She will be looking up the name though she doubts she will find anything. It's an alias, no doubt in her mind. Yet, she will still go through the motions and try to find out what she can.

She considers the electronic sounds and tries to place it, wondering why it is interfering unless he is communicating through a computer. Which means he may have bounced through multiple servers or satellites to reach this phone. So much for tracking him. Again, she will verify if her suspicions are correct.

"How did you get this information?" she asks again. "Why not just come in hand it over in person? Obviously you have the skills for doing so without being caught. What other circles of defiance, as you put it? And why do you want to help?"

Megatron has posed:
The response is almost instant, perhaps curiously so, as if there was no time needed for the contemplation of an answer and the words are given quickly. The voice maintains that calm melodic tone to it as he tells her, "My perception of matters is very limited and I am not free to move about as I would like. I observe information and can gauge the repercussions of its transmission. There are many people who are looking for information on the Sentinels. This piece of information still had significane but seemed to create the fewest 'ripples'."
Then there's a pause as if affected before he continues. "The others are simply interested parties who may be in a position to affect change. I intend to make contact with some of your co-workers if possible in case you are prevented from utilizing the information."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"I see," Natasha says although, honestly, she doesn't. Unable to move about freely? Limited perception yet he is able to find out information about the secret robots that are starting to show up everywhere? It's move questions and those questions won't have answers either.

Something about the way he said it does have her asking a question that was not about the Sentinels but about her mysterious contact. "Are you being held somewhere against your will?"

Megatron has posed:
"Currently? No." The voice responds, the tone of it strong and almost authoritative as it answers. "It is more that my safety could be jeopardized if I spend too much time in one location."
There's another faint electronic hiss and sizzle, then his voice returns. "Speaking of, I am afraid I must go. I will be in contact."
As quick as that, the signal closes on the phone and the burner returns to its passive state. It, however, at the least leaves Natasha there with her burger and the freedom now to enjoy it. Though she may have to figure out what to do with that package and its contents.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As soon as he disconnects, Natasha is working to open the file that he sent over. She scans the information there briefly then rises to her feet. She locks the screen as she tucks the phone into her pocket. Lifting her tray, she heads over and dumps what remained of her food into the trash. The packet the phone came in? She keeps that with her.

Her steps take her to the door and she will head straight for the motorcycle outside. Time to get this to the Avenger and SHIELD to let them see what they could make of the data. And to get herself away from this location since it had now been compromised. One last sad look at the restaurant she wouldn't be coming to and she fired up the bike, roaring out of the parking lot a moment later.
