Synopsis: Carrie and Blink return from a food run to Bangkok for authentic Thai.
Cast of Characters: Blink, Carrie Kelley

Blink has posed:
It all happened so fast. Carrie mentioning a TV show she'd watched on food from Thai street vendors that had her craving some. Blink suggesting they go to Thailand and get some then. The purple-haired mutant had to spend some time studying maps and pictures of Thailand, and the first portal she opened was way up in the air intentionally, she said, to make sure she could place one where it wouldn't hit anyone.

But soon enough the pair were able to step directly from Carrie's apartment, and into the streets of Bangkok. After scouring the area, they loaded up on food from a number of places. Now a portal has been opened back to Carrie's and the two step back through, arms ladened with containers of fragrant delicacies. "Now that I have been there, I won't have to take all that the time to study the area, to go back," Clarice explains.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"That?" Carrie gushes as she sets down some of the bags of food on her coffee table, "Was fucking awesome, Clar." Grinning brightly she brushes her hand back through her hair with a laugh shaking off the differences between Thailand and the apartment now that they were back. "I'll just be happy if this stuff turns out half as good as that show makes it out to be. Though it *smells* amazing," she has to admit as her eyes scan over it not sure what to try first. "Let me grab us some drinks. I've got soda, iced tea, milk and water," she offers as she heads for the kitchen.

Blink has posed:
Blink sets bags and containers down on the table. She breaks out in such a pretty smile as she sees Carrie's exuberance about what they just did. Appreciation for her mutant gift seems like a balm after the unpleasant things that Clarice has been put through because of that mutation. "I just wish it hadn't been so late there," she says of the city where it was probably a few hours past midnight when they arrived. "We'd have had so many more choices, but it was good to see how much was still open."

There's so much more food than they can ever hope to eat. But it was also cheap by their standards. And no doubt Carrie has college friends that might appreciate a taste of what's left. "Oh, iced tea sounds good," Clarice tells Carrie as she gets some plates for them and sets out silverware. "It's very... freeing. Being able to go wherever. I was kind of afraid to early on. Afraid to leave Genosha. And to be around too many people outside of there. But I'm better about it now. The more I've traveled, the more comfortable I get about it."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley chuckles at mention of it being late. "Nah, according to that show I saw most of these places are open at night to hit the dinner crowd and the late-night drinkers. The ones that were closed already probably weren't going to open up until later in the first place. It made it easier to choose what to get, too." She grins over toward Blink again with a knowing nod. "Yeah, I get that. I mean there's dangerous where ever you go so it's tempting to stay in familiar places. I've done the same a bit, though I also don't have your awesome ability to travel anywhere. Seriously," she adds as she gets out some glasses for drinks. "Thank you so much for bringing me. That's probably something I'd never get to experience otherwise."

Returning to the table she offers out a glass of iced tea while considering the options in front of them. Though all the talk of traveling does make her think. "Is there anywhere you haven't been that you want to go some day?"

Blink has posed:
Blink takes the offered glass with a grateful smile. The young woman's birthmarks, dagger-shapes that extend above and below her eyes, do nothing to hide the warmth in her extremely vivid green eyes. "Thank you for going. I really liked getting to experience it with you. So much nicer having a friend with me," Clarice says with a timid quietness that doesn't diminish her smile.

"Oh, all sorts of places. Haven't been to the Great Wall yet. Or the North or South Pole. Hawaii. Kilimanjaro. The Savage Lands," Clarice says, almost as if reading off a mental list. She gets some steamed seafood onto her plate, the spice from it wafting into the air as it is taken out of the container, setting her stomach to rumbling.

"Easter Island was at the top of my list. I'd had problems with it. Turns out the pictures I had were much older than I thought. I took Rogue there with me about a week ago. The moi, the giant stone heads, are just so amazing. To think they made them without machinery or powers."

Clarice pauses a moment in moving food to her plate. "There is somewhere I'd have never had the courage to try, that I think I might get to go to soon," she confides.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley settles down to sit near Clarice reaching for something she wanted to try as well. A rice and soft shell crab dish that looked and smelled amazing. Even if it was a whole fried softshell crab. That was intimidating to someone not used to such cuisine. All the more reason to start with it. "Yeah, traveling is always better with friends." She pauses at the name 'Rogue' though tipping her head just a little as her mind makes the connection. The Avenger that Kitty was friends with. "I bet it was great."

A quick bite is taken, along with a little groan of appreciation at the flavors, and she quickly gulps it down. It had cooled enough it wasn't going ot burn her mouth at least but still held that deliciousness of freshly cooked food. "Oh yeah? Where's that? The moon?" She's teasing a little but who knows. Maybe it was!

Blink has posed:
Blink tries the seafood and makes a low whistling noise. "Oh, that's spicy!" she exclaims, though sounding as if that is a good thing. She gets another bite, then goes for iced tea to relieve her mouth briefly. Clarice wipes her lips with a napkin before motioning towards Carrie with her fork. "Really close. Space," Clarice says.

She looks down at her plate, getting a bit of a shy, warm smile. "I met someone not too long ago. He saw me teleport in to Egypt to watch the sun rise. The sun is coming up in Giza about when I'm normally having my morning coffee. So, anyway... he is J'onn. The Martin Manhunter, from the Justice League? And, I think maybe he'll take me up to Watchtower, to their space station sometime, so I can see what the Earth looks like from there," Clarice says. There's something in her expression that might suggest she's a bit enamored by having met the superhero.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley glances down at her own food. Spicy? She knew she could handle spice better than some, one of the few things she *was* good at, but... Another bite is taken and she has to nod. "There's a lot of complex spices in this." But man it was so good! As Clarice talks about J'Onn she merely grins watching her friend wear that familiar expression she's seen on others so many times. "One of these days I hope I meet someone that makes me look that goofy. That's awesome though. I've heard about the Watchtower. I mean, Batman is kind of a hero around here and I know he's worked with the League. You'll have to tell me all about it."

Blink has posed:
Blink smiles over to Carrie and says, "I'll have to bring him by to meet you sometime. Maybe we can all go out to dinner together? We went to a little place in Italy I found up in the mountains awhile back. Really sweet couple who own it. Just a tiny village of... oh I don't now. Maybe a few hundred people," she says.

Clarice gets a forkfull of rice and then goes back for some more of the spicy seafood medley. "I hope you meet someone too. I don't really have a lot of experience in dating," Clarice admits. "But it seems to be going well. He can read my thoughts. Which... ok, the thought of that is maybe a little scary in concept. I mean, what if I think something I'd never have said? But you know, it's actually been really nice. It's not just that he can pick up some of my thoughts, but he shares things with me too. It's like... getting to know him in ways I couldn't anyone else, without that?"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley considers that quietly for a few moments as she tries to wrap her mind around that concept. "That sounds really intimate honestly. Plus, honest," she adds with a chuckle. "No lies. No secrets." Humming thoughtfully she adds, "Which would really suck if you were secretly a superhero or something I guess, but if you're seeing someone to begin with then ... I guess you'd want to be able to trust them in the first place." That was maybe more thought than she'd really put into it before.

"Nah that sounds like something you and he should just share together. I wouldn't mind meeting him sometime but I don't wanna be a third wheel either."

Blink has posed:
Blink reaches over to give Carrie's hand a warm squeeze if allowed. "You wouldn't be a third wheel. I'd love to have you meet him. You're always like... a spot of bright sunshine on a cloudy day, Carrie. Happy to have you already all the time," Clarice says with friendly smile.

She considers what Carrie said and then gives a little nod of her head. "Intimate is a good word for it," she agrees. "And not like I can hide what I am from anyone," Clarice says after the superhero comment, and motioning to herself as if indicating her appearance. The purple hair could just past for as her personal style. But Blink's eyes are such a shade of green as regular people do not have.

"How have things been in Gotham?" Clarice inquires. "I haven't been over here in a while. And I'm so bad at keeping up with the news, with how much I'm popping about."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley allows herself an indulgent grin at Clarice's assurance. It was kind of nice knowing she wasn't intruding on people, even if she didn't worry about it quite as much as she used to. A quiet chuckle comes, and she gives a wink. "You never know. Maybe I'm secretly a superhero!" She sits up straight lifting an arm to flex to show off how scrawny she was to make such a claim ridiculous.

Except she wasn't so scrawny anymore. There's actually some muscle when she flexes, and she stares at her own arm with a mild look of surprise. "... Huh. When did that happen." Probably somewhere between martial arts, push ups, sit ups, parkour, and any other number of things she'd been actually training in. Lightly clearing her throat she sits back again.

"It's been the same old. There's been some kerfluffle with the whole... Sentinel crap. Some got blown up here," she admits with a grin. "It was all over the news."

Blink has posed:
Blink sits up in her chair. "Oh you totally should be!" Clarice says of Carrie being a hero. "You grow your hair out longer so it can flow behind you as you run. You can be like.. The Red Bolt. Or, the Crimson Lass. Wooing handsome college hunks by day and striking fear into miscreants by night!" Clarice adds in an exuberant tone.

"You would totally rock as a hero," Clarice confirms with a nod. And there really isn't an air of humor to any of what she said, either. As the Sentinels are mentioned, a little of that energy fades though. "Yeah. I heard about that," she says, frowning a little bit. "And what's worse, the news is kind of propaganda at this point," she says, shaking her head. "Sometimes I worry the whole world is going to turn into what Genosha used to be," she says.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley bites her lower lip quietly. She shouldn't have brought that up, even if just joking about it. Her gaze returns to the food quietly just enjoying the sights and smells, while trying not to blush at the compliments. "Thanks, Clar," is offered quietly. Even if she hadn't yet admitted who she was... It was nice knowing her friend apparently would have her back with it.

The topic turning sour causes her to reach over to give Clarice's hand a squeeze reassuringly. "There's plenty of us who aren't going to let that happen. History has enough fuckups. It's about time we got something right."

Blink has posed:
Clarice squeezes Carrie's hand back, the momentary tightness of it a tell of just how much it does get to the mutant girl. "Thank you. I sure hope so. There's so many people who just seem to hate anyone who is different than them," she says. "Though, lately it seems like things are a little better. I was down in Mutant Town and things were a little quieter than usual. Normally it's tough to be around the edges and not run into some anti-mutant sentiment. People seem to be shying away from that now. At least publicly."

Clarice has no idea why that is. She isn't around enough to know anything about coins or the type of things happening behind the scenes and in the city's underbelly that might be resulting in what she's started to notice. And that's the scary part. For some people, life is getting better because of what is happening.
