Visit To The Watchtower
Date of Scene: 05 May 2019
Location: Central Hub - Watchtower
Synopsis: J'onn takes Blink to Watchtower to show her a view of the Earth from space.
Cast of Characters: Martian Manhunter, Blink

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn promised Clarice, and since he always keeps promises here they are, now, stepping out from a portal in the central hub of the watchtower. They're finally there, after having Clarice promise not to poke her head in restricted places, instructing her on security protocols and measures, and even informing her that, after the visit, a mental block would be set on her to prevent her teleportation on there because of security reasons. But there they are, and J'onn in his human form is to Clarice's right, holding her right hand in his left if she allows. "welcome to the watchtower, Clarice, home of the justice league, and well the place where I live..."

Blink has posed:
Blink's fingers lace with J'onn's. She'd definitely have had him get them up there via the Justice League's own transportation. She was not feeling comfortable opening a portal herself to a space station not only for the first time, but one she'd never been to so her accuracy would be better.

Clarice agreed to all of J'onn's stipulations. As they arrive, she looks around with interest. There's a moment's queasiness before the rotation sets her feet firmly on the ground and gives a semblance of gravity to her. "Oh, that's a new sensation," she says, laughing softly and moving a hand over her stomach that did flip flops for a second there.

She peers about at everything, her hand tightening on J'onn's. "This is amazing," she tells him. He can sense her excitement at being here. Especially her desire to see the Earth from orbit.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn smiles at Clarice, then squeezes her hand gently and chuckles "I'll show you to a gravity less zone then, later!" he comments, then just looks at one of the subtle cameras on the ceilings, almost invisible, and starts walking towards one of the doors. "we'll head for the observatory, from here... This is the central hub, so sort of the place that connects everything. There are the gymnasium where we train, the living quarters where we, uhm, live, a botanical garden, then the monitor room, and a couple other places but." he stops in front of a double door, and they slide soundlessly open, giving the view over a room that seems to be a small living room, with a couch in its center, a small table in front of it, and what looks like a black panel forming one of the walls.

Blink has posed:
Blink looks around in each direction at the hallways or doors going off to the other areas of the station as J'onn points them out. "So how much do the members actually live here, versus living on Earth? Or is it more like, come out and maybe sleep over night or a day or two and then head back?" Clarice asks. She glances back, over her shoulder at where they came in. "And can the teleporter deposit them anywhere it wants?" she asks.

She walks with J'onn into the new room, looking about at the comfortable further and then over at one of the walls. He can tell her thoughts, she's wondering if that opens up to give a view of the stars, or Earth, outside.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
"well it depends. Some have a life down there, so well, they have their room here that they can use whenever they want but they mostly live on earth. Some others, even having a life on earth, are mainly working up here, like me for example. I maintain some identities, down there" and he points at the panel "but I live here."
The panel itself, right now, is starting to slowly fade away, and while it happens, the lights are lowering so that, when the panel becomes completely transparent, the room is dark and, eluminated only by the sun outside, the earth is visible in all its splendor from up above.

Blink has posed:
Blink moves over nearer to the window into space, pulling J'onn along by the hand if he allows. She looks over to him with a HUGE grin and then turns back to look out. Clarice catches her breath as the gorgeous view of the Earth is taken in. The vivid color. The line where the atmosphere can be seen on the horizon, looking so tiny compared to the rest of the globe despite how it seems the atmosphere is so thick to people on the ground.

She is just stunned by the sight. Truly stunned, as J'onn will know, feeling her emotions. Stunned and blown away. It's a nearly spiritual moment, seeing your planet from space for the first time. What seemed so huge, on a scale it can hardly be conceived, suddenly seems so small and... cozy?

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn smiles, squeezing your hand gently, while his other hand extends and a controller flies into it. Fiddling with some controls, the view on the window starts to change now. Earth is slowly starting to get smaller, as if the station was moving, even if this is probably only a projection, and it becomes gradually smaller till the entire solar system is visible. It keeps moving, the solar system getting even smaller, and smaller, until slowly, the entire galaxy is visible, with millions, billions of planets, stars, nebulas, black holes... "welcome, Clarice, to the universe." J'onn whispers, the view of the galaxy itself getting smaller, showing others, and probably now the images are just computer generated because they show tousands of other galaxies.
The images fade, then, to be replaced again by the original view of the Earth.

Blink has posed:
Blink leans over against J'onn as she watches the changing view. Her arms goes about him as she hugs herself to the larger man, cheek resting against his chest as she watches, giving soft, vocalized, "Ooooos," and "Ahhhhs." Clarice just lets her eyes soak in the sight as she rests there against the tall man. "I don't know that I'd ever leave this room," she says with a soft laugh.

As the view goes back to being the Earth, it's clear that that one is her favorite though. "So you can fly in space on your own? Does it look even more amazing from out there?" She asks him. Still tenderly clinging to him, she asks, "Do you feel the same way when you fly over Mars?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
"yes, I can and yes, it feels different..." J'onn admits, wrapping his arms around Clarice and hugging her tightly. "I, rarely, fly over mars anymore. It just, there's almost nothing for me to see over there, but ruins, destruction, and things I prefer not to see more than needed." he replies but a smile is quick to form again on his lips "I can show you Earth seen from space, if you want... Hm if I do this right, we could even without you wearing a spacesuit but, well, it will be scary, because your body will reflexively think that, well, there'll be no air and nothing to place your feet on, but if you trust me I can show it to you."

Blink has posed:
Blink gets some sad feelings of sympathy for J'onn as he speaks about how different Mars is for him now. She squeezes his hand that she's still holding even as she has her head resting against his chest. "Well, I'm glad having you here, showing me the view," she tells him.

The mention of space causes all sorts of reactions. The thought is a little scary for Clarice. She has thought about being in space before, from her teleporting. Having thought through everything that could go wrong should she ever try to open a portal to the moon. So she's made herself well-versed in what can happen to a body in space. Which isn't a reflection on her level of trust.

There also memories that stir, of Scott Summers talking to her about opening a portal to the moon, something he'd like to do some time.

Clarice says, "I... don't know. I trust you. But I think I'd probably be so scared I wouldn't appreciate it the way you'd want me to," she tells him. "Let me think about it first?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn smiles and just nods at the girl, his mind processing the informations he just received. "my idea was to create a sort of bubbly shield, with air inside for you to breathe and to protect you from, well, space... Whenever you'll want to, I will be there for you to lead you in space." he admits, then chuckles a bit and adds "well, I'll be probably be there for you in all cases, now, I suppose..."

Blink has posed:
Blink smiles and even without her saying anything, J'onn will know how much she likes the thought of him being there for her. Not just in the context of a possible trip into space. She takes great comfort in the feeling of safety she has when she is around him, and her feelings for him have been growing in the time they have spent together.

"When we aren't together... are you still able to hear my thoughts? If I think things to you, are you able to hear them?" she asks him. She's learned by now his telepathy can span the world. But then she doesn't imagine he hears the thoughts of everyone all at once.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn smiles, hugging the woman a bit tighter and hearing her question "well, sort of..." he replies initially. "so far, focusing, I could read the minds of all people on Earth, within a few minutes even, but that'd need a bit of concentration on my part. Knowing your mind, and caring about you, I set a sort of, hmm, something to easily find it within the moltitude. So yes, I am not actively reading your mind but, should I sense you're in need, or anything similar, I will be aware of it, as well as of your position."

Blink has posed:
Blink closes her eyes. <<J'onn,>> she thinks clearly. <<J'onn,>> she thinks again. "If I think like that when I'm away from you? Then I'm trying to reach you," she tells him, opening her eyes again to smile up at him. Clarice, if allowed, will lead J'onn over to the couch, encouraging him to sit so she can slide in his lap and resume nestling against his the large man's chest as they watch the Earth turning slowly below them.

"I think I could sit here all day watching that view," she says with a happy sigh. She pats his chest gently as she leans her head against it. "I took my friend Carrie to Thailand to get street food yesterday. She's really nice. A theater student at Gotham University. I'd like to introduce you to her sometime," she says.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn walks to the couch and sits on it, his mind hearing his name being called in Clarice's mind. Telepathically, he answers "I hear you, and I will know whenever you need me, dear!"
Smiling, he listens the woman speaking about how she would spend all day in there, and this brings out a smile "ah we could spend a day here if you want! And sure, i'd like to meet thisfriend of yours, whenever you want..."

Blink has posed:
Blink sighs contentedly, watching the view from above the planet. The vivid blues are almost unearthly. Which is ironic considering they actually ARE Earth. Clarice softly brushes her hand back and forth over J'onn's chest as she snuggles against him. "Is there anything about me that you'd like to know more of?" she asks him. Though he can read her mind, so far he hasn't dug into things she wasn't thinking about already. At least that she knows of.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn smiles and shakes his head, gently running his fingers between Clarice's hair "nothing that comes to mind, right now... Is there anything you'd like me to know about you? Or, is there anything you'd like to know about me?" he asks, leaning a bit backwards on the couch, looking out the window as well while he caresses the woman's hair.

Blink has posed:
Clarice sits quietly for a moment, thinking. "Have you had many people that were special to you during your time on Earth?" she asks him. The young woman gives a tender sigh, loving the feeling of the fingers in her hair. She tilts her head slightly into his touch as the fingers play through the soft locks of her hair. It's just short of caressing silken threads as his fingers slip and play between the purple tresses.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn shakes his head slightly, enjoying very much the feel of her hair under his fingers. "no, not many..." he admits, "but then that depends from the point of view, really. I mean I've been there for years and years, even if I can't remember, well, a lot of things... So honestly I wouldn't truly know how to answer your question." he admits, closing his eyes for a moment "I can focus on the one I have right now, however"

Blink has posed:
Clarice smiles at that last part. She rests there in his lap, the two just looking at the Earth and not saying anything. Not even really thinking anything to each other. Just content to be in each other's company and quietly enjoy the beautiful view.
