Thor has posed:
It had been a bit of a shaming event, to have various and sundry people speak ill to him of his status. Did they not realize that Thor, God of Thunder, is capable of enjoying a vacation of sorts? Must he e'er be at his best and cleanest? Must he e'er arise at the crack of dawn and be fit for presentation to Court? To that he would say thee nay.
And yet here he is later that same evening that Diana and Natasha had both given him grief for his enjoyment of intoxicants and his wardrobe. Amongst other things. So now he is clean, freshly showered, though still wearing the grey gym shorts and hoodie and the flip-flops, almost out of deiance.
In the gymnasium he's alone, though there's a steady hiss/crackle of energy as he lifts a heavy bar that is connected by two lances of energy to a platform. It helps create a variable amount of leverage/power/weight and currently it is enough for Thor to get a few dozen reps at a time before he drops it back into its plate with a thump.
For a time he leans against the wall, gathering himself, catching his thoughts and breath, then goes back to it for more reps.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Dressed in fitting active wear, Carol actually came here as most people do, to work out. But upon seeing Thor, she gets easily distracted. Not necessarily because of his physique or charm, but rather because of rather concerning news she heard. Well, it should be considered happy news, she's just the wary sort.

"Thor! Good to see you have some time to be at the Mansion," a rather mischevious grin starts to form on her lips, before she prods at him verbally, "anything you might want to tell me?" Yes, she already knows, but better to give him a chance to tell her in person.

Thor has posed:
The heavy metal bar had been held aloft for a moment and the gravity engines engaged, but then her voice lifts and reaches him long enough for him to look over his shoulder. "Ah, Carol. Bide a moment." There's a faint whine and hissizzle of the powered workout equipment as he sets the bar down with a heavy crackle thud. He turns away, dusting off his hands.
"Good to see you," He offers a nod and takes up a small towel that had been sitting on the bench nearby, "Anything I might wish to..." For a moment his brow furrows, but then he recovers as his lips part with a quick, 'ah'.
"The wedding, yes. You are invited, of course." He smiles as he says that.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol crosses her arms, "that it...?" She looks nearly offended, "how about you start with why there's a wedding happening?" Carol offers a better approach, before she paces a bit infront of Thor, "do I honestly need to learn from the media that my teammate, my fellow Avenger, my friend, Thor, is getting engaged to some Space Princess?" Carol asks, before stopping her pacing and turning to sharply face Thor, "you do know the Shi'ar have some bad apples in their royal family, don't you?" Oh she's heard alright, and likely not because of Earth's media. "I'd be very careful if I were you...how did she even find you?"

Thor wasn't honestly expecting not to get a hard time from Carol over this, was he?

Thor has posed:
He has heard it all before, and weathered the negativity before. But they are his friends. They are simply looking out for him so he cannot begrudge them. So Thor's answer begins with a smile, albeit a wan one, tinged with a hint of weariness. Then he holds up a hand as if ceding the point. "Peace, Carol. Peace."
"I know your misgivings, and I have had enough myself. Her people spoke with Prince Loki when he was there negotiating. The idea was advanced and he thought it a good idea." A small moment of a smile then he adds with a hint of a smirk. "Of course it was all Loki that he agreed before hand without my consent, and that he made sure word did not reach us til she was on us."
He sits down on the bench and looks up at her, "But my people have examined the wedding contract, and it is a strong alliance. So I have agreed. It will help my people greatly."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Of course peace, we're friends here," Carol says with a grin, not at all looking to get back into any sort of position where she has to ponder potentially fighting Thor for real. "Oh Prince Loki!" Carol's voice is soaked with sarcasm, "we can all just relax now that we know Prince Loki is behind this thing, because he always has nothing but the best intentions, right?"

"Naturally, that what Loki does, traps you into a scheme...which is probably all the reason in the world to reneg, no?" Carol asks, looking at Thor intently, as if just waiting for him to accept what an even worse idea it is, then Carol initially considered. This was the first time she heard Loki had a hand in this machination at all.

Thor has posed:
"Carol," Thor looks at her and says gently, stepping forward and resting a hand on her shoulder so he can look her in the eye. "Do you think I am so naive as to not see the possibilities here? Do you think I have not gauged matters from all the angles possible and spoke to advisors who are aware of Loki's ways as well as the likely wishes of the Shi'Ar."
He takes a deep breath, "Aye, this has been one of Loki's gambits. And aye he likely has laughed much at my discomfit." His fingers squeeze her shoulder gently, "But the tricks he enjoys the most are the ones where it is right to fall into them. It is less enjoyable for him to trip me and see me fall to the ground. He enjoys much moreso seeing me fall on my own face of my own volition."
He steps back and half-smiles, "So, in this case, at the least accept this as it may be, and hold the possibility of telling me the largest most impressive 'I Told You So' that you have ever told another person, if or when this whole thing blows up."
He tilts his head to the side, "Alright?"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"I'm not sure..." Carol answers candidly, "it seems to me like you've chosen to walk into a trap, because you feel the alliance as a whole would benefit your people." There's no criticism in her voice this time, she fully understands making such a move, it's part of the burden of leadership. Just like throughout history, commanders at times found themselves sacrificing some of their forces, in order to gain the bigger win down the line. It's brutal, but nevertheless, a choice that sometimes need to be made.

She shakes her head at Thor's offer, and instead reaches to place her own arms on his shoulders, looking at his eyes directly. Well, she does have to look up for the feat, but still. "I'll do you one better, Thor, if this blows up...I will destroy this Shi'ar Princess, Loki, any who deserve it..."

Thor has posed:
Thor's fist closes and he lightly thumps her shoulder as he would a comrade, his lips turning downwards into a hint of a frown, but he accepts her statement and her oath. He shakes his head, "It may be hundreds of years before we know if this was folly, but thank you Carol." He pulls her into an embrace, strong arm around her waist to pull her close. One hand light upon the back of her head as he rests his cheek against her brow.
He draws back to look in her eyes, his one good one warm and his smile a touch rueful. "You are a good friend."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Well...I honestly can tell if I would live that long," Carol admits, somewhat uncomfortably, "my physiology is...fucked up, to say the least, there's honestly only one of me..." Carol puts it as clearly as she can without going into crazy details. She returns the embrace, and smiles, "you're a good friend too. Okay...time to hit it," and she moves over to do her exercise.
