A Fox Hunt In New York City
Date of Scene: 08 May 2019
Location: Westchester, The Bronx
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Nemean, Alopex

Nemean has posed:
Things have been pretty crazy in the city over the last few weeks. Crime is on a massive rise, and it seems no matter what the law enforcement arms of the city do, nothing is steming the bleeding. Cody Garrett, for his part, has been trying to keep things in check, but after a wild night, he has some clues leading him to something much bigger going on in the city.

In a world with flying aliens who shoot lasers out of their eyes and undersea empires run by fish men, six foot tall turtles with ninja weapons is still kind of weird. His attempt to stop them had been a bust, but his car's dash cam had caught something interesting. It wasn't a turtle but it wasn't human either. It was, however, a ninja, and it was hurt.

Cody had gone back to the scene, thankfully those two kids he handcuffed to the parking meter were long gone. He was able to find the blood, and had been following it. Though he lost track of it after a while, there were other things. Strands of fur, a bit of cloth. He had lost the trail again, but had narrowed it down to this neighborhood.

Alopex has posed:
There had been a clear pause in the trail of blood the arctic fox had left behind. The trail would have led deep into a warehouse district on the island, vanish, and then reappear as the occasional track or otherwise. Whoever she was had been desperate. The track was a haphazard route that led to the Bronx, and then just ... all over. Some thing would be found, it would pause a while, proceed again, move again, and so on.

The path seems to halt -entirely- when Cody finds what seems to be a rather run-down building. It was a two story building that, at a distance, seemed abandoned. When approached, a small sign on the door and in the window declared it 'Winterfall Dojo' an outreach program and place for kids to go after school if they so choose.

Heavy drapes shut out the rest of the world. No light can be seen inside due to this. All evidence did, however, lead to this building...

Nemean has posed:
Evidence pointing to the building aside, he can't just kick the door in. He may be with the FBI, and he may be working a case about missing anti-mutant activsts...As much as he disagrees with their sentiment, he still has a job to do. It wouldn't be right to blow it off just because he disagrees with their politics.

He's actually wearing a relatively nice suit at the moment, instead of his undercover outfit, or tactical gear. Official FBI business, after all. He decides to knock on the door, and then tries to get a view inside. Maybe he can spot a blood stain or something to give him probable cause, he would hope.

Alopex has posed:
Knock knock. For a long moment there's no reaction from within. Maybe one of the curtains moved ever so slightly. Was that the sound of a broom falling over or just something outside? After a full minute, there is a very obvious noise of a deadbolt unlocking, followed by at least two more locks of various types, before the heavy door swings open to reveal an older looking man that looks like he belongs in a movie straight from Japan. The difference here is that he doesn't need a cane. He does, however, have a pair of dark eye-glasses. Considering it's after dusk, they can lead to only one conclusion.

    "Yes? Who is it?"

Nemean has posed:
"Ah, hello sir. My name is Agent Garrett, I'm with the FBI. We're investigating a break in at the Oroku Museum the other night. I realize that the museum is nowhere near here, but we have reason to believe that one or more of the suspects may have taken refuge in this building or another one near it."

He does try to get a glance past the old guy into the building as best he can, to see if there's anything he can use as a probable cause to enter. He really doubts this old guy is secretly a giant white fox but honestly that wouldn't be the weirdest thing he's heard of.

Alopex has posed:
"Oh, yes yes, you can come in, Agent Garrett, by all means," the man offers as he steps back from the door. "I'm sorry, I rarely get company after the students and the other teachers leave. We could hear the sirens last night, left us all wondering what had happened! Nasty business, sounds like," he states as he moves back toward a small table with a tea set on it, tea for one person, it appears.

He kneels at the table, sips at the fresh tea, and regards Cody again despite a lack of one of his senses. "Mmm... there were a few people wandering through the area, but I haven't had any ruffians come here. I use my little dojo here as a outreach for kids that have no better place to go after school. The only people that come in here are people I trust, Agent Garrett."

Nemean has posed:
"Thank you sir." Cody says, as he steps inside, looking around a bit. Place seems pretty tidy, for being a small dojo, "I won't take up much of your time. Truth be told, the suspects we're after may not be human. I doubt they'd be any of the kids you'd take in. Possibly metahuman, maybe alien, we're not sure yet. Trying to figure out what, if anything, was taken from the museum to help narrow down potential suspects."

Tea for one, means that if somebody else is here, they're either hiding somewhere or have already moved on. He didn't spot anything that would lead him to believe they'd left, however. Though by now they probably would have stopped the bleeding, "You don't happen to have a basement, do you, mister..?" He tries to probe for a name to run.

Alopex has posed:
"Ah, but that's how the world is now, isn't it Agent Garrett? Mutants, heroes, villains, so many things for people to look at, to praise and to be terrified of. It's why I offer shelter to these kids. The world is quite a dangerous place, even with the heroes that defend us! And if teaching them how to defend themselves helps them feel a little more secure in the world, well then that makes it all worth it, hmm?" Sip.

"Ah! My apologies, Agent Garret. Tenchi Fuyu, or if you prefer, Tenchi Winter. I call this little building the Winterfall Dojo since it's where I ended up when I came to this city. And no, no basement sir."

Nemean has posed:
"Ah. Very well. If you're okay with it sir, I can do a quick walk through, make sure nobody's hiding in a dark corner somewhere. For safety, of course." He figures he'd best get permissions. He then raises his voice a bit, "I'd want anyone who was hiding to know that I am aware that they were at the museum, but I just want to talk to them about what went down in the basement, and I have no intention of arresting them. I'm just trying to find the truth."

Alopex has posed:
Winter quirks a brow, despite his lack of vision. "It's been a few days since then, Agent Garrett. I've had the students and their teachers here a few times, and they get around all over the building. If anyone was here, I assure you, they would have been found by now." Sip.

For what it is worth, Cody Garrett, someone does hear you, and is considering your words very carefully. If she's going to act on them or not remains to be seen. At least you have been heard.

Nemean has posed:
I see." He replies, "Then I suppose we're done here for now. I, ah, I'm afraid I don't have a card in braile, but I can leave you one just the same. In case someone else happens to need it." He pulls one of his cards with his number on it out of his pocket, "Someone was hurt, pretty bad, during the fight in the basement of the museum, but as far as I can tell, they were a third party to what went down. That's why I'm trying to find them, to get all the information I can." He sets the card on the table next to the tea set, "Thank you for your time." He says to the older man, before walking to the door and exiting the dojo.

Alopex has posed:
Master Winter rises as Cody turns to leave, "I see. Well, if they had come this way, and were hurt, I certainly would have helped them," he explains as he follows after the agent to close the door. "It's much as I said, Agent Garret, no ruffians or villains here, I can assure you," he insists as he gives a smile to the man as he exits the building. "I'm sure you'll find them eventually, Agent. Just be paitent. It is a virtue for a reason, after all." If Garrett is beyond the doorway, Winter would wish him a good night, and then move to close and lock the door again.

What Mr. Garrett will find is that there's a silhouette over by his car. They aren't slicing his tires or stripping out his radio, no. Instead it looks a lot like the white blur that had flashed in front of his dash cam. Problem is, it looks like it's sitting on the rear bumper. Maybe they really -did- hear everything. Problem is, there's no telling which building they came from..

Nemean has posed:
As he approaches his car, spotting the figure near the vehicle, he does reach down to his side but doesn't draw anything yet, "Do me a favor and step into the street light." He says, "Even if it's only for a second. I just want to make sure you're who I think you are."

He'll release his weapon once he's sure the figure isn't hostile, or at least...Isn't in a hostile stance. There's a fine line between the two after all.

Alopex has posed:
Smart agent, the figure decides, and does as indicated. With the world like it is, being so well hidden and out of the public eye doesn't bother it- .. her quite so much. Granted, it isn't quickly obvious until she speaks. "You need to be careful, agent. With everything going on, an FBI agent visiting all these buildings will only bring them trouble," she points out before taking a seat back on the trunk of the car again. "I heard what you wanted me to hear, and probably a little more. There's a lot going on, and I'm not as privvy to all of it as you may think. Still, I'm sure you have plenty of questions either way."

Nemean has posed:
"Mostly about what happened in that basement." He replies, as he leans against the side of the car, "You want a coffee or something? Normally I try to offer my CIs some kind of latte or something. Though we can't exactly walk into a Starbucks or Big Belly Burger now can we?"

He shakes his head for a moment, "Nevermind, getting off track. First off, who are you?"

Alopex has posed:
"Mm, you were a little late to that party, weren't you? To be fair, so was I. I ... wanted to talk with someone and ..heh. I guess I did, it just didn't end up quite the way I wanted. Got stabbed, ran off-" she pats the car trunk, "-Right past this, which is why you came looking, hmm?" She waves off the offer for a coffee or anything else. "I won't be much use to you as an informant cause I don't have access to that information anymore. All I know is that a man named Oroku Saki, also known as the Shredder, had someone kidnapped and held in that building. The four green ones you saw were rescuing her, I imagine. The shark and the hawk are with Saki. You walked in on a successful rescue effort, Agent Garrett."

Nemean has posed:
"I knew it. I came to that part of town looking for missing people, and I found one. That's a good place to start." He hmms, "Oroku Saki, you mean the guy who donated all the money to make that museum in the first place, and donated that fancy kitchen knife as a center peice?"

He frowns, even though Alopex can't see it. His bosses hate it when he goes after uber rich criminals. Which is another thing that's been bothering him lately, "Do you know of any connection this Saki has to the Family?"

Alopex has posed:
"Sorry, Garrett, but I don't really have a lot of information regarding that. I was working on a personal project of my own when all of this started. Things have been changing around here, everyone can see it. I would bet what little I own on Oroku Saki being involved, and possibly planning it all, but I dont have anything I can provide that will allow you to go after him. It is his museum, it is his building, but he is very careful, cunning, and you can be certain his tracks will be covered well. I ... doubt he was prepared for what I did last night and that's why I can't have you knowing where I am living. I made a very deadly set of enemies last night, Cody."

Nemean has posed:
"Sounds like it." Cody replies, "Look I'm gonna be honest, if we're gonna end up working together, and I have this really weird inkling that we are, you need to at least give me something to call you by. Unless you want me to call you Snowball or Sparkledog or something."

Alopex has posed:
The fox gives a sidelong glance, shrugs, but at least she gives the man a smile, "Ah, right. I suppose that would be in order, Cody Garrett, as I already know yours. You can call me Alopex. The four turtles you saw go by the names of a set of renissance artists: Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michaelangelo. The hawk you saw goes by Koya, and the shark goes by Bludgeon. ... And in case you were not sure, the one in the jagged armor is Oroku Saki. Hence his other name, The Shredder."

Nemean has posed:
"That's..A lot to jot down, but okay." He pulls out a notepad and quickly writes everything she just told him on it. He should have been taking notes from the beginning but you know how often do you talk to a giant talking fox?

"I do have another question. What's up with the masks? You're wearing one, the turtles all had color coded ones. Hell even the bird might have had one, I dunno, I didn't get a good look. You know most people'll be able to identify you from other details, right?"

Alopex has posed:
"Well, four the four brothers, they do look a -lot- alike, so there's that for them. The Shredder isn't a public face, so he tries to keep it and his true self separated. Mine is for a personal reason, and is actually more paint than an actual mask." She pauses, considering the other two. "I don't believe Koya or Bludgeon have one," she pauses, then laughs, "Must be a 'ninja thing'".

Nemean has posed:
"That...Makes a lot of sense when you put it that way." Cody says, as he finishes writing his notes, "So I'll be honest with you, Alopex. I don't think I'm going to go to my bosses and tell them 'Hey so one of New York's most prominent businessmen is also secretly a ninja warrior who employs an army of mutants but not the mutants with powers but like, animals with human features.' Because they'll probably kick me out if not just commit me." He shakes his head, "Hell I saw it with my own eyes, even if only for a second, and I still don't buy it."

Alopex has posed:
The fox shrugs, "There are so many strange things in the world, I'd be surprised that they couldn't stretch their imaginations just a little further to account for people like myself. Still, if you start looking into this? You need to be extremely careful. If the Shredder notices someone trying to disrupt his plans he -will- work against you. Swiftly."

Nemean has posed:
"I appreciate the concern. Don't worry, I'll be extra careful." He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a card, the same one he gave to Master Winter, "I don't know if you got a cell phone but if you call that number on there it comes straight to me, and I always answer it. I don't give these out a lot so that way when folks call I know it's important." He holds it out towards her so she can take it, "If you got a cell phone anyway. Pay phones still a thing? I remember them faintly from being a kid.."

Alopex has posed:
The card is taken, "I'll figure it out," Alopex says as she takes the card, glances it over, then tucks it away. "Just keep in mind what I mentioned earlier. If you're going to roam around down here, try not to do it looking like.." she motions at all of him, "This. People will get suspicious and word will travel really fast."

Nemean has posed:
"Yeah the unmarked cruiser and the FBI suit never really fit my style much anyway. Tell you what, next time I swing by I'll make sure to bring my motorcycle and some riding leathers, that should be inconspicuous enough." He stands up from the side of the car, "It's late, I'll let you get back to...Well whatever it is you do, admittedly. But I'll tell you what. If one of those cards happens to wind up in the hands of one of those turtles, well, I'll answer that call too."

Alopex has posed:
"Mm..." is the only response Alopex gives at first, glancing aside and then upward, "I'm not sure what they think of me right now. I was their enemy for quite a while. Finding their trust is going to take some time. If I can earn that, I will see about sending them your way if they so choose. They tend to stay underground more than I do. I understand the world a bit more than they do, I feel. "

Nemean has posed:
"Well I'll work whatever angles I can find in the mean time. I ain't gonna lie, I'm still a bit weirded out, but considering that on my way over here I watched two people fly past the bridge, I suppose I'll get used to it." He opens up the door to his car, "Call me if you need anything, or if you get more info. Or you know, send a raven or throw a ninja star through my window with a note attached to it. Whatever it is you guys do."

Alopex has posed:
This prompts Alopex to hop off of the car's trunk and to make sure Cody is well on his way before she returns to whichever building it is that she's staying in. "I'll just call, easier, don't you think? Just be careful, sir, that's all I ask. Take care, Agent Garrett."
