Oh. My. God.
Date of Scene: 15 May 2019
Location: Jubilee's Cabin - Breakstone Forest
Synopsis: Jubilee fishes for a Sea God.
Cast of Characters: Jubilee, Poseidon

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee is at the beach. Same as she has been almost every day for the past two weeks. She has a fishing rod, and it is cast out into the surf, but the lure is something completely different. A cut and polished crystal apple dangles in the water beneath a pink cork, bobbing brightly on the surface of the water. There is no hook. There is no actual bait. Just the crystal apple, scattering prismatic rainbows all over the beach beneath the water, as the sunlight strikes it.

On the beach sits a young Asian woman in a turquoise bikini, sunning herself and keeping watch over her "lure" and singing softly to herself. She isn't sure what to use as bait to catch a god. But they probably like sparkles, right?

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon was just checking around in his domain, sitting in his palace and using his magic to do a full scan of the oceans. It is not surprising to see people fishing, but surely it is to see them using a crystal apple as bait! And when he focuses on the beach, he sees a woman he definitely knows. Smiling a bit to himself, he stands up, starts to concentrate, and after a minute he just silently appears behind Jubilee, in the shape of the athletic man the already saw him into. "So, are you trying to fish what, or who, exactly?" he asks

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee had accepted the fact that this wasn't going to work, days ago. Still, she had to try. So she is watching the spot where her line enters the water intently. Just in case. And it is just then that Jubilee's intended catch speaks up from behind her.

"Jesus!" Jubilee nearly jumps out of her skin, and it takes her a few moments to regain her bearings. "Oh hi! I was just....thinking about you!" Jubilee offers brightly.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon crosses his arms on his chest, peering at the woman "so you're saying you're trying to fish a god with an apple?" he asks, almost incredulously "didn't I tell you that praying would've worked just fine?" he asks then, now his expression showing mild amusement "I don't even want to know where did you get that apple..."

Jubilee has posed:
"Prayinggg...but I don't know that I know how to pray to a sea god," Jubilee laments. "But the apple worked, didn't it? She reels in the apple and let's it dangle in the sunlight, scattering rainbows. "Maybe I will have to practice the praying thing," she confesses, blushing pink. "I might suck at it. You don't know. But this? /This/ worked! It just...Probably took a little longer than I had hoped. Or planned..."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon chuckles amusedly again, looking at the apple "it's praying, it's just looking at the sea and wishing I would appear, some speak in their heads to a god, some just pronounce words... That would've been easier! Because I would've heard it instantaneously from anywhere. RIght now, you were lucky I happened to look at the sea and notice a crystal apple attached to a fishing rod, and that I recognized you then." he grins a bit, peering at the woman now "anyways, what can I do for you?"

Jubilee has posed:
As much as Jubilee didn't know how to fish for a god, she was prepared even less for this question. "Do? I mean....I don't mean you have to DO anything for me. I just thought...maybe if I had a....well, a you..." And just like that, she's lost all train of thought. "You wanna come over for a cookout? I promise I won't cook any fish," Jubilee blurts out quickly, just to get it over with. "Do gods eat?"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon seems really amused now, but in the good way at least! "you mean you've been fishing here for how knows how much time just to invite me out for a dinner?" he asks, chuckling a bit and then aiming a warm smile at the woman "consider the invite accepted, Jubilee, and don't worry humans eat fish daily, it's not like I will obliterate your house if you cook some.." he then grins a bit, shaking his head "not regular food, not to get our nourishing, at least. But we can eat it, and I will, gladly, with you."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee blinks, taking a deep breath, and nodding a little in silent confession, as the sea god extrapolates her plan. "It does sound a little bit dumb, now that I hear it all explained that way. But it worked. I'm okay with that!" Jubilee beams, her hair all piled in an array of curls atop her head, and secured by her brass goggles. "I have the Jeep right over...over there," she motions. "What do you like to eat? Is there such a thing as God food? Do they sell it at WalMart?"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon can't stop a chuckle, just moving to stand next to Jubilee to have her lead him to wherever she wants to go "no, they don't sell god food on this world, so just go with whatever you'd want to eat, Jubilee. I can still taste, you know!" he comments, grinning a bit "and I trust your cooking skills. Plus, I am, honored to have been summoned for a dinner, I must admit, that is not something that had happened very often!"

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee smiles and gathers up the few things she has scattered upon the beach, then leads Poseidon to her Jeep, considering every step of the way how ludicrous this must seem. But she climbs inside as he does, and she drives back toward her cabin.

"I have things to cook, and a lovely little spot where we can go to talk while I cook. There is just somethin' about the idea of talking and communing with someone who's like, as old as time, but still open to talking to someone like me, who came into this without any clue as to how it works. I...I still don't know how it works. But I'd like to find out..."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon follows Jubilee quietly, smiling all the time, and then sitting on her car to enjoy the ride towards the cabin "well I am sure this will be a lovely day" he comments, then aims a reassuring smile at her "do not worry, you're doing allright Jubilee!" he exclaims, even reaching out with his left hand to gently ruffle her hair "just, try to not think about me being as old as time, if it makes you feel more, I don't know, confident? Do you want me to take the appearance of some handsome college guy?"

Jubilee has posed:
Becoming more at ease, Jubilee giggles and scrunches under Poseidon's ruffling hand as she drives, taking the Jeep up a rocky trail on the side of a mountain toward Breakstone Lake. She gives him a sidelong look as she navigates the maintain road, and she grins. "I think you should look however you feel. They say you're only as old as you feel, anyway, right? Look however /you/ want to appear. I find this whole thing fascinating, no matter what you look like."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon nods approvingly "true, and I recognize the wisdom in your words. Yet, it is you that should feel more comfortable with me, not me being more comfortable with myself..." he offers, looking casually around as they approach their destination, or at least water, because he senses it! "and I am glad you find all this fashinating, of course..."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee gives Poseidon a lopsided grin, as she steers off the trail at the foot of the mountain, and up onto a long driveway to a small cabin not far from the water itself. Indeed, the perimeter of her back lawn is marked by the water's edge. And along that water's edge sits a couple of lawn chairs beside a fire pit, with a table nearby. Jubilee parks the Jeep to one side of the small rustic cabin, and stands up, now wrapped in a sarong over her swimsuit. She stretches up toward the sun before hopping out of the Jeep and grinning back to her new companion. "Nobody ever comes out here...It's so quiet. My place won't know how to act, if I'm entertaining a guest "

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon looks at the place, studying it and hopping out from the vehicle to land lightly on his feet, examining his surroundings and Jubilee as well "this is a lovely place, Jubilee..." he admits, walking towards the lake, the chairs and the firepit, that he proceeds to light with a bit of magic.

Jubilee has posed:
"Wow," Jubilee utters breathlessly, as the fire pit brightens to life. She smiles and gives a cursory glance around the area before removing the brass goggles that secure her hair atop her head. Her dark hair spills over her shoulders in careless waves, as she rearranges the white sarong wrapped around her waist. Her top, the turquoise string bikini top she was wearing while sunning and "fishing." She smiles and opens a basket, which contains two bottles of wine: one white and one red. "I have two...I don't....I don't know if they are supposed to be chilled, though," she confesses.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon smiles at Jubilee, then looks at first at her new look, nodding approvingly, then at the revealed bottles. "it depends from the kind of wine... As a general rule, red has to be above 13 degrees, white below 9..." he points at the bottle of white wine, and it becomes to the right temperature thanks to a minor use of hydrokinesis and temperature manipulation.

Jubilee has posed:
"Oh...oh!" Jubilee smiles as she watches the bottle of white wine fog over as it is chilled. "That's amazing..." She looks up at Poseidon, her expression earnest and intent. "There is so much I want to learn from you..." She lets her words trail off quietly, as she becomes lost in thought.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon chuckles, gesturing casually with his right hand "aha, what's that you want to learn from a humble god such as me?" he asks, looking at the woman now "well, at least, you can try to ask the questions that come to your mind, and I can try to answer them... No promises, though. Even because knowledge is a powerful thing, dear Jubilee..."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee nods, furrow in her brow slightly as she pours wine into two glasses she pulled from the basket. "There is something about you that just intrigues me. Just being in the presence of somethin' greater than me. Than all of us. Yet here, humans fight against mutants. Races fight against races. Same with religions, and classes, and it just amazes me that none of it matters..."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon smiles, waiting for the wine to be poured into the glasses before getting one and raising it into the air "cheers..." he mumbles, bringing then the glass to his lips to take a small sip "ah, it matters, instead..." he comments "look at, us... We Olympians and the Asgardians havn't always been so, peaceful, we fight too, we've been fighting in the past, there are olympians fighting against other olyimpians too..." he shrugs, lowering his head "fate only knows how many times I had to put my diplomacy to the test... The truth is, that people just like to fight, that's what I think at times. For once, I know for a fact Ares is happy of all this.."

Jubilee has posed:
"Ares is wrong..." Jubilee utters under her breath, but she lifts her glass. "Cheers," she says more brightly. "So after all the time that you've existed, and all the things you have seen and survived...What do you think of on quiet nights when you seek comfort? And what do you think of that makes you happy?"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon smiles, even if in a bittersweet way "he is, but don't tell it when he's present..." he replies, then at the question looks a bit thoughtful, and brings the glass of wine to his lips for a couple of sips before giving an answer "there's not a definite answer to your question, honestly. Happyness is not really, something that we pursue... I am happy when I see that my work produces resoults, when I see my people living in peace and prospering, and I have no idea about the quiet nights seeking comfort part..."

Jubilee has posed:
"Maybe....just perhaps...You don't need comfort the way we do. You are such complete and whole beings. You have been, forever. We are incomplete. Fractured. Broken, sometimes. Maybe we're the only ones that need comfort." She breathes a quiet laugh. "I guess that makes sense "

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon chuckles now, shaking his head vigorously "hey hey, forever is a lot of time... Even if I have several tousands of years, there are still beings much older than me... And, even if we are, well, gods, we are still not the, most powerful creatures in the universe... And imagine the, well, when we learned we were not as powerful as we tought! It's like you humans discovering you're not the center of the universe... But in a bigger scale. But" he grins a bit now, taking a couple of sips from his glass "you seem a bit awestruck!"

Jubilee has posed:
"I guess I am," Jubilee confesses, wrapping and unwrapping a tendril of her hair around a finger pensively. "I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. About you. About all of it...since I met you. I had to find you again."

Poseidon has posed:
"well..." Poseidon admits with a smile "since now aday my duties are, limited, to say the least, I can stay for as long as you want I suppose!" he releases a small chuckle again, walking to one of the chairs to take a seat on it "considering now aday there are no longer humans asking for safe travels on the seas, or to get rid of this or that storm, or to protect them from waves or sea creatures, or vice versa... Eh, the world now just believes in other gods, mah..."

Jubilee has posed:
"The world has created its own gods," Jubilee observes. "Phones and ipads, and laptops and social media. The world doesn't have new gods. The world has no gods." Jubilee watches Poseidon for a long moment before she sets her glass on the table near his. "I feel as though I'm being too heavy for a cookout, hmm?" She smiles faintly, but pulls a large cooler from beneath the table and pulls out a fruit and cheese tray from the ice, and uncovers it, setting it on the table. "I have meats to grill. Chicken, or beef...or I can grill a number of vegetables, too. Does anything sound good?"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon chuckles, shaking his head and shrugging "oh no, dear Jubilee. The world has plenty of gods, they just forgot about them... Luckily, or unluckily depending from who you ask, the gods have not forgotten about you, and so we are, hm?" he smiles kindly, looking at the food just revealed "oh, that seems delicious! And, just go with whatever you like the most, it's all fine for me..."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee is thoughtful for a moment, then nods. "Well, I am glad you didn't forget about me, at least. Even if you didn't even know who I was till we met on the beach." She grins, and sets the metal grill grate over the top of her fire pit, backs up, a little, and seems to toss a roiling blue ball of light onto the pit. Flames explode, and a fireball erupts through the metal grate, boiling up ten feet in the air. Finally, though, the spectacle dies down, and the fire assumes a dull roar, as Jubilee pulls out bags of marinated vegetables and meats, seating herself to alternate them on wooden skewers to grill. "And lucky for you, you didn't forget, too. Because you're gonna LOVE this stuff."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon chuckles quite amusedly "ooh, you mean the first time when you were suspicious of someone coming out from the water, or the second time when you tried to fish a god with a crystal apple?" he asks, his eyes still alit with amusement and a smile forming on his lips. "eh well, I am sure it will be..." then he pauses, observing the display of fireworks, and chuckles again, even clapping twice "that's nice, that's very nice for sure! Anyways I was going to say I trust your cooking skills... Believe it or not, I have none of my own..."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee just lets her gaze rest on Poseidon for a moment, reasoning that through. She crinkles her nose and then rubs it with her hand. "Nah, I guess a sea god really doesn't have much game in the kitchen, huh? I mean you don't exactly get much call for cooking food with fire when you're underwater, huh?"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs "first of all it's not like we sea gods spend all our time underwater, and you'd be amazed to discover there's magical fire that burns underwater too... But my point was really that usually there's someone cooking for us, you know, stories don't tell about gods cooking their own banquets for a reason, hm?" he smiles, then grins "or we just conjure it, that's it..."

Jubilee has posed:
"Ohhhhh. Riiight. Nobody cooks for me. I didn't think of that." She is still avoiding the question about which time on the beach she was talking about. "There is fire that burns under water? That's wild! Is it as hot as fire that burns air? Can you hurt yourself on it? Is it BLUE??"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon raises an eyebrow, looking at Jubilee, then casting a glance at the nearby lake "it's magical fire, I can make it assume all shades of blue, yellow, orange, and even green, white, black, pink or purple, and no I will not make a pink nor a purple fire to demonstrate that..." he comments, shrugging slightly, then grins "but yes, it is hot, it burns, and sure, if you walk through it you'd probably get hurt by it... But then again, fire is not my specialty and I find water to be way better..."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee looks out toward the water thoughtfully, as she begins putting the skewered meat and vegetables over the fire pit. "I can't really make fire. And I can swim, but I can't do much with water, either. But there's one thing I /can/ do..." She turns toward the water, with her back to the fire, and she lobs colored balls of plasma into the water, one after the next. Pink, blue, gold, white. The second each disappear beneath the surface, it explodes with a bright 'bloop'. She watches the last one for a moment after the bloop, and she looks back at Poseidon. "Yeah, that's sorta all I've got for water..."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon looks at Jubilee for a moment, then peers at the lake, and just smiles. Then the entire lake decides to stand! Or, at least, it seems like all the water is moving, to form what looks like a human shape and, its appearance, its features, it is a watery version of Jubilee herself! It even raises a watermade right hand and waves to the flesh and bone Jubilee, before returning to its liquid state with a small splash. "ok, I will stop boasting about water's superiority now, dear... But you still havn't answered my question about the beach, hm?"

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee rubs her nose again. It seems to be a nervous habit. "I mean...you know...either time. I mean a girl doesn't meet a god just every day, and she definitely doesn't cook for one every day. And I was sorta kinda scared that you'd get weirded out by my fireworks, and also oh crap, they're almost burnt!" Jubilee rattles, then grabs up the grilling shish kabobs, apparently just before they can burn.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon raises an eyebrow into an expression of slight perplexity, then keeps doing that, and then bursts out laughing "hey hey if you burn them we can make others, don't worry! Magic could fix almost everything..." he grins then "why, weirded by your fireworks? First of all I have seen things definitely more weird, and then, fireworks are not weird, I mean they're lovely, almost as much as you are!"

Jubilee has posed:
"Oh you're too kind...a lot of people hate people like me for what they can do, like they take it as a threat, but all I really wanna do is make pretty fireworks and sometimes use them to blind enemies or create a distraction, or just entertain someone. But then there are the sentinel's that cane the ability to take our powers away and vaporize us into nothing, so there is no proof we were ever even alive, except maybe in pictures." She also speed-talks when she is nervous.

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon lowers his head slightly and closes his eyes "eh, I cannot say you humans always make sense, but I, simpatize, with your situation... I would intervene more, but I am afraid that wouldn't really be wise at this time, for several reasons..."

Jubilee has posed:
"It's all right, Sir. You don't have to get involved in human affairs. Humans get killed every day. No reason I should be any different than anyone else." Jubilee goes quiet then, and goes back to tending the food. "You aren't expected to intervene."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon hmms, raising an eyebrow slightly and peering at Jubilee "first of all, even if I am not obligated, siding with you humans was part of the reason I am still on Earth, a free decision, one that I intend to maintain... Second" he pauses, looking at the woman "someone going as far as fishing a god with a crystal apple is special, trust me, and worthy of protection and then more..."

Jubilee has posed:
"Aww...thanks. You're very nice for a god, y'know? Just please be careful of these sentinel things, okay? I don't think they have them in the water yet, so you should be safe. I dunno what they can do to gods, but they can turn a human to dust, instantly. Just ZAP, and somebody is gone."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon nods and smiles "I will be careful, Jubilee... However I think they work with technology, I work with magic... We are on, two separate realities, sort of, I mean" he thinks about how to phrase it, it seems, "shoot at me with a tank, and I'll shrug. Use a spell, and I'll need to dodge."
